W/C: 3,369 | Penguin x You, afab!reader, fluffy, birthday celebration, R18-ish. A/N: April 25 is Penguin's birthday and this is for all the Penguin lovers out there. Please enjoy this short story! I would also appreciate comments too. Thank you!
The sun drifted towards its evening perch, you finally wrapped up your day's duties aboard the submarine. The salty sea air lingered as you made your way to your quarters, eager to freshen up after a long day below deck. With the gentle hum of machinery in the background, you indulged in a well-deserved bath, the warm water easing the fatigue from your muscles.
After drying off, you pampered yourself with a lotion that exuded the crisp scent of cucumbers, filling the air with a revitalizing aroma. You slipped into a crisp, freshly ironed white suit, feeling as sharp as a well-honed blade.
With a smile playing on your lips, you settled onto your bed in an Indian sit, carefully securing the gift with the ribbon.
"I really hope he'll like this," you whispered to yourself, your thoughts drifting to Penguin, the recipient of your heartfelt gesture. The wrapping paper, adorned with cheerful blue and yellow stripes, complemented by a vibrant red ribbon, added a festive touch to the present. Placing the gift on your desk, you made your way out of your quarters.
As you navigated the narrow corridors of the submarine, you spotted Penguin engaged in conversation with Law and Shachi. Their voices trailed off as they reached a corner, their animated gestures punctuating the air. You watched as they exchanged parting words, Law and Shachi disappearing down one corridor while Penguin sauntered in your direction, his attention still lingering on his departed crewmates.
"Penguin!" you exclaimed as your Captain and Shachi vanished from sight. The excitement bubbling in your chest bursting forth in your voice, echoing down the corridor.
With a grin spreading across his face like the sun breaking through storm clouds, Penguin watched as you sprinted towards him, your eagerness was evident in each bounding step. His arms instinctively opened wide, ready to envelop you in a warm embrace. As you leapt into his waiting arms, he staggered back slightly from the impact, his muscles tensing to steady both of you. Wrapping his arms securely around your waist, he lifted you effortlessly, feeling the weight of your affection as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
Pressing his face into the soft skin of your neck, Penguin inhaled deeply, breathing in the alluring fragrance that enveloped you. "God, you smell so good," he murmured, his voice muffled against your skin and you melted into his arms.
"I missed you," your whispered, the words carrying the weight of your longing.
Your confession elicited a soft chuckle from him, his warm breath sending shivers down your spine.
"Missed me? I just went out of the sub early morning," he teased, his playful tone laced with affection.
As he continued to hold you close, you leaned back slightly, craning your neck to meet his gaze. With a tender smile, you brushed your nose against his. You basked in the warmth of his presence, the world around you fading into insignificance in the embrace of your shared moment.
Setting you gently back on your feet, Penguin lowered his head, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. "You're the best thing that happened to me," he murmured, his words laden with sincerity, causing a rush of warmth to flood your cheeks in response to his heartfelt declaration.
In the wake of his admission, you found your voice, though it emerged soft and slightly shy. "Likewise," you replied, your gaze momentarily dropping to the floor before lifting to meet his once more, a shy smile playing at the corners of your lips. As you walked side by side, you latched on his left forearm, you made your way down the corridor toward the galley, your footsteps matching the comforting feeling of being together.
"Say, what happened to your adventure today?" you inquired, curiosity glinting in your eyes as you glanced up at him.
Penguin, with a thoughtful pout and a gentle stroke of his chin, recounted the day's events. "Hmm, everything went well according to Law's plans. Unfortunately, we also ran into a couple of Navy soldiers, but we managed," he explained, his voice carrying a hint of resilience despite the challenges they faced.
Suddenly, you halted in your tracks, moving in front of him, your concern palpable as you scanned his form for any signs of injury. "What? Are you hurt?" you questioned, your voice laced with genuine worry, your eyes darting over every inch of his physique.
He reassured you with a gentle touch, brushing a hand against your chin. "Hey, I'm fine," he replied, his tone soft yet firm, before cupping your face in his hands. "I appreciate your concern," he added, his gaze tender as it met yours, the depth of his gratitude reflected in the warmth of his touch.
"If that's the case..." You exclaimed, seizing his arm in your excitement. "I'm already starving!" With a playful tug, you urged him forward, leading the way towards the galley.
"What's the rush?" Penguin questioned, his tone laced with amusement, but he yielded to your enthusiasm, nonetheless.
Arriving at the closed door of the galley, you knocked three times.
"Why is this closed?" Penguin queried; his curiosity piqued as he pushed the door open.
As the door swung wide, revealing the scene within, Penguin's eyes widened in surprise, a chorus of "SURPRISE!" echoing through the room as balloons and confetti danced in the air. The entire crew was gathered there, their faces lit up with anticipation and joy, even Law, leaning against the wall in the corner, wearing a rare smile.
"Happy Birthday!" you exclaimed, a grin spreading across your face as you met Penguin's stunned gaze.
Brushing the back of his neck in embarrassment yet touched by the gesture, Penguin glanced around at the assembled crew, a mixture of gratitude and bashfulness playing across his features.
"It's her idea," Shachi interjected, beaming proudly at Penguin. Meeting your gaze with a silent promise of gratitude, Penguin's expression softened into a silent acknowledgment, his eyes reflecting the depth of his appreciation for your thoughtful surprise.
Penguin made his way through the gathered crew, he exchanged brotherly hugs, receiving taps on the shoulder and forearm and fist bumps from each member. Meanwhile, you took the initiative, pulling Shachi along to help distribute plates and utensils among the group.
As Penguin approached, you handed him a plate, but he gently intervened, taking it from you. "You sit down and let me serve you," he insisted, his hand resting warmly on your back as he guided you to a seat. Your eyes lingered on him as he moved gracefully around the galley, a fond smile playing at the corners of your lips.
"Guys! Food's gonna get cold, Help yourselves!" Penguin's voice rang out above the chatter, drawing everyone's attention to the spread before them. The meal was simple yet ample, nothing extravagant but enough to share among the assembled crew. Laughter and conversation filled the room as everyone dug in.
Emerging from the crowd with a plate in hand, Penguin settled beside you, placing the dish on the table before you. "Here!" he offered with a warm smile.
"Aren't you going to eat? Don't you like the food?" you questioned, furrowing your brow in puzzlement, concerned that perhaps the fare wasn't to his liking.
"It's not like that," Penguin reassured you, his tone gentle yet firm. "Seeing you is enough to make my heart full," he teased, his fingers brushing a stray hair behind your ear, eliciting a soft blush from you.
"Penguin! Really? Flirting in front of us?" Shachi exclaimed in mock disbelief, though his tone carried a friendly warmth.
Penguin simply laughed, the sound filling the room with a contagious joy as the celebration continued, surrounded by the camaraderie of friends and the comfort of shared moments.
After finishing your meal, you carried your plate to the sink before joining the other crew members in conversation, laughter, and camaraderie filling the air.
Meanwhile, Penguin made his way to Law, who stood with his arms crossed, a mug in hand. Penguin mirrored his posture, leaning casually against the wall with one hand slipped into his pocket, mug in the other. With a raised mug, Penguin initiated a toast, and Law obliged with a nod.
"Hey Law," Penguin began, his tone casual yet curious as he struck up a conversation.
"I can't believe she'd pull off something like this. Perhaps you also knew about this?" Penguin inquired, his eyebrows lifting in surprise.
Law took a sip from his mug before responding. "Yeah, two weeks ago," he admitted, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Penguin's surprise was evident. "Oh? Damn, right under my nose," he mused, a wry smile tugging at his lips.
Law smirked knowingly. "Of course you wouldn't know. It's a surprise, after all," he quipped. Penguin’s gaze drifting towards you as you laughed and chatted with the rest of the crew, unaware of the conversation taking place.
"Well, I just wanna say thank you," Penguin expressed his gratitude, his voice sincere as he glanced back at Law.
"Don't mention it," Law replied nonchalantly. "She approached and asked nicely. It wasn't a big deal," he added with a shrug.
There was a brief pause before Penguin resumed their conversation, his tone shifting slightly.
"Aren't you jealous?" Penguin asked, a playful glint in his eye.
Law's brow furrowed at the unexpected question. "Pardon?" he responded, caught off guard.
"I told you, you should be getting yourself a girlfriend," Penguin teased, nudging Law lightly.
"Not a chance. It's not even on my list of priorities," Law replied with a hint of finality, his stance unwavering.
As you scanned the crowd, your smile widened as you spotted Penguin standing beside Law. Meeting his loving gaze, you exchanged a silent moment of affection before Law's dry humor interrupted the tender exchange.
"If staring could ignite a fire, you'd have already burned her to the ground," Law quipped, his tone laced with playful jest.
Penguin chuckled in response, shaking his head at Law's comment.
Handing his mug to Penguin, Law pushed himself off the wall, indicating his impending departure. "I've got a lot of things to do," he informed Penguin as he excused himself with a nod and a tap on Penguin's shoulder.
With the crew gradually trickling out of the galley, leaving only a few to assist with the cleanup, Ikkaku intervened, ushering you and Penguin towards the exit with a playful grin. "You lovebirds may go now, we can handle this," she insisted, giving you a wink as she nudged you out of the hall.
"I'm in your debt," you replied gratefully, returning her wink.
You and Penguin exited the galley hand in hand, a sense of anticipation hanging between you as you mentioned the surprise you still had in store for him.
"Still more surprises?" Penguin exclaimed, a hint of nervousness creeping into his voice. "I'm getting nervous with this," he admitted with a sheepish grin.
Stopping in front of the female shared quarters, you opened the door, inviting Penguin inside with a playful gesture.
"Come in!" you urged, stepping over the threshold as Penguin hesitated, his cheeks flushing slightly.
"What are we? We don't have to—" Penguin stammered, his words faltering as he struggled to articulate his thoughts.
"Silly! What are you thinking?" you interjected with a laugh, playfully swatting his arm as you closed and locked the door behind you, the soft click signaling your privacy.
Penguin stood just behind the door; his curiosity evident in his gaze as you retrieved the gift you had prepared for him from your desk.
"Happy Birthday!" you exclaimed, presenting the gift with both hands.
"No way!" Penguin exclaimed, stepping forward eagerly to accept the gift, his excitement palpable.
"Yes way!" you replied, your smile warm and genuine. "I hope you'll love it," you added, your anticipation mirroring his own.
"May I open it now?" Penguin asked eagerly, his eyes shining with anticipation as the two of you settled on the edge of your bed. With a nod from you, Penguin eagerly tore into the wrapping paper like a child on Christmas morning, the excitement of the moment filling the room with a sense of joy and intimacy.
Inside the box lay a midnight blue, knitted scarf adorned with white lining at the sides, perfectly complemented by a matching wool hat, mirroring the one Penguin wore.
"You did this?" Penguin marveled, pulling the gift from the box and running his hand over the soft texture of the garments, still awestruck by the thoughtful present.
"Remember when I asked you to buy me a bundle of yarn?" you prompted him, your voice tinged with a hint of nostalgia.
"Yeah, it was a weird request from you at the time. I think it was about three months ago?" Penguin recalled, his fingers deftly inspecting the scarf as he wrapped it snugly around his neck.
"Well, that's the yarn you bought for me. I started knitting as soon as you gave me the materials," you explained matter-of-factly, a slight blush tingeing your cheeks as you looked down, your fingers fidgeting nervously. "It took me a while to make it since I could only work on it after duties," you added, your voice trailing off.
"Wait, what?" Penguin's brow furrowed in confusion as he tried to comprehend the significance of your words. "You mean..." His eyes narrowed as he pieced together the revelation slowly dawning on him. Sensing the weight of his realization, you braced yourself, anticipation coursing through you as you awaited his response.
"We only started dating a month ago..." Penguin's thoughts raced as he connected the dots. "Oh..." Understanding washed over him, the pieces of the puzzle falling into place. Sensing your embarrassment, you covered your face with both hands, attempting to hide.
But Penguin wouldn't let you retreat. With a gentle yet firm grip, he grasped both of your wrists, pinning them down against the bed.
"Look at me," he commanded, his cheeks flushing with color. Slowly, you complied, your cheeks burning with embarrassment as you met his gaze, unable to hide.
"You tell me," Penguin urged, searching your eyes with unwavering intensity.
"I know you already figured it out," you replied, your voice soft and pouty.
"Still..." Penguin insisted, his own cheeks tinged with embarrassment. "I wanted to hear it from you," he pressed, his eyes pleading for honesty.
"I..." You hesitated, the weight of the moment hanging between you. "I already liked you even before you started courting me," you confessed, biting your lip nervously.
Your heart pounded in your chest, its rhythm echoing in your ears, Penguin cupped your face gently, His touch eliciting a shiver down your spine. His thumb brushed against your lower lip, tracing its contours as he locked eyes with you, the intensity of his gaze stirring a flurry of emotions within you. You could feel the tremble in his hand, mirroring the racing of your own pulse.
"Penguin..." you whispered, your voice barely audible above the thudding of your heart. Your eyes flickered from his gaze to his lips, the air between you thick with anticipation. Something shifted in the atmosphere of the room, an electric charge igniting the space between you.
"Kiss me," you blurted out, your voice breathless with desire, the words escaping before you could stop them.
"You don't have to ask," Penguin replied, his voice a soft murmur, laden with promise. And with those words as his cue, he closed the distance between you, his lips meeting yours in a fervent, passionate embrace. Time seemed to stand still as you lost yourself in the sweetness of the moment, the world melting away until there was nothing but the warmth of his touch, the taste of his lips, and the intoxicating sensation of being utterly consumed by his kiss.
With both of his hands cradling your head, Penguin pressed his forehead against yours, his breath mingling with yours as he pulled away from the passionate kiss. Parting his lips, he struggled to steady his breath, his chest rising and falling with the intensity of the moment.
"Tell me I'm not dreaming," Penguin pleaded, his voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty, his gaze searching yours for reassurance. Instead of answering, you leaned forward and planted a tender smack on his lips, a silent affirmation of your shared reality, your eyes closed as you too attempted to catch your breath.
"What did I do to deserve you?" Penguin's voice was soft, filled with wonder and gratitude, his question hanging in the air between you like a whispered prayer.
~~~~~~~~~
As time passed, A feeling of satisfaction settled between you and Penguin, the atmosphere imbued with the warmth of shared moments and quiet pledges. The two of you found yourselves seated beside each other on the bed, backs against the wall, holding hands in a silent embrace. You rested your head on Penguin's left shoulder, feeling the warmth of his presence comforting you.
"Starting today, I'll look forward to my birthday every year!" Penguin grinned at you, his eyes sparkling with anticipation for the future. "Thank you, for making me feel alive," he added, his heart overflowing with gratitude for the positive turn of events.
"Everything! For you..." you replied, your voice filled with love and sincerity, your heart swelling with happiness at his words.
Suddenly, three soft knocks echoed at the door, interrupting your private moment.
"Oh, time's up," you informed Penguin, who tilted his head in confusion.
"I actually asked Ikkaku if we could stay here in the room, privately," you explained, a mischievous twinkle in your eye.
"Wow, all the favors you asked from everyone, just for my birthday," Penguin remarked, his surprise evident as you brightly smiled at him.
"Uhh, (y/n)?" Ikkaku's voice came from the other side of the door.
"Two minutes!" you shouted in response, before turning back to Penguin.
Before you could open the door, Penguin wrapped his arms around you from behind, pulling you close for one last intimate embrace before you stepped outside.
As you opened the door, Penguin followed you out, finding Ikkaku leaning against the wall with arms crossed.
"Oh thank god! You guys didn't look like you had sex inside the room," Ikkaku blurted out bluntly, leaving you speechless.
"IKKAKU!" you exclaimed, shocked by her straightforward remark.
"What? You only told me you needed the room for yourself, and it turns out it was your boyfriend's birthday today, so I assumed it was the case," Ikkaku explained matter-of-factly.
"Haha! I like your train of thought, Ikkaku," Penguin chimed in mischievously.
"Penguin!!!" you glared at him, feeling a mix of embarrassment and amusement.
"Hey! Chill! I'm joking!" Penguin reassured you, rubbing his hands on both your shoulders. "And if that time comes, I want it to be special, and we both want it to be, not just because of the heat of the moment, right?" he added, brushing his hand against your chin as he gazed at you lovingly, showing his respect and consideration for you.
"Ok fine! I get the point! Ugh," Ikkaku sighed, feeling sick with the cheesy lines. "So, you guys move away from the door 'cause I want to rest now," she added.
"Good night!" you beamed at her, and Ikkaku smiled back before closing the door.
"Well?" Penguin stood in front of you, anticipation evident in his gaze. "I'm on night shift, it's my turn to guard the sub," he informed you.
"I wanted to stay with you," you told him honestly, not quite ready for the day to end just yet.
"Are you sure?" Penguin questioned, concern etching his features. "If you happen to fall asleep, I'll just carry you back to your room," he offered, his voice filled with tenderness.
"Sounds like a plan," you nodded, a smile playing on your lips.
"I can't wait to show off your gift to them!" Penguin's smile widened; his eyes gleaming with excitement at the thought of sharing your thoughtful present with the rest of the crew.
And so, hand in hand, you and Penguin set off towards the control room, the shared laughter and pure love echoing through the corridors as you embraced the night together.
Through Law's eyes (Chapter 4)
Tumblr media
@GOKUJOUNOMAGURO
WC: 2,993 | Law x y/n, afab!reader | continuation of "We should talk" A/N: My attempt of writing a first person perspective, Law's POV, reminiscing the days before that one fateful day. It's been about three years now since she became part of our crew. I remember the day she barged into our lives like a storm, all fierce determination, and pleading eyes. We'd just finished a mission on one of the islands in the North Blue, and she'd been instrumental in our success.
But when she asked to join us, I wasn't exactly jumping at the chance. See, it's not that I had anything against her personally—it's just that taking on new crew members is a big decision. Let alone another woman, aside from Ikkaku, to join the crew.
But as Penguin—bless his chatty soul—filled me in on her background, I started to see things differently. Turns out, she wasn't just some runaway trying to escape a bad situation. She had skills—mad skills. Not only was she handy with medicine, but she knew her way around basic mechanics too. That's the kind of resourcefulness you can't ignore on the Grand Line.
Penguin had spent some time with her while we were sorting out the aftermath of our mission. He couldn't stop talking about her, which, coming from him, was saying something. But the more he told me, the more I realized that she belonged with us. She wasn't just looking for a way out—she was looking for a purpose. And maybe, just maybe, we could give her that.
So, despite my initial reservations, I welcomed her aboard.
At first, she struggled with sea sickness, poor thing. But she didn't let it keep her down for long. Despite her initial queasiness, she threw herself into life aboard the Polar Tang with all the gusto of a seasoned sailor. She had this tomboyish vibe about her, fitting right in with the rough-and-tumble atmosphere of our crew.
Watching her adjust was like seeing a flower bloom in the midst of a storm. Day by day, she grew more accustomed to the rhythms of life at sea. And when she finally donned that crisp, white overall suit—the same one worn by the rest of the Heart Pirates—it was like she'd always been one of us. The crew welcomed her with open arms, and she fit in seamlessly.
I often caught glimpses of her shadowing Penguin, Shachi, and Bepo, soaking up their knowledge like a sponge. They took her under their wing, showing her the ropes of ship life, teaching her the ins and outs of the Polar Tang. They made sure she knew the rules I'd laid down, and they filled her in on all the little tricks and quirks of submarine living. And you know what? She took it all in stride, like it was second nature to her.
As they reported her progress to me, I couldn't help but be impressed. She was a quick learner, picking up skills that took others years to master. And every time I nodded in approval, it was like giving her a silent pat on the back. She was proving herself, not just to me, but to the whole crew.
                                              XXXX
I remember that moment vividly, like it was yesterday. I was making my rounds through the submarine when I noticed a faint glow emanating from beneath the door of my office. Curiosity piqued, I approached quietly and peeked through the small window. There she was, surrounded by a sea of medical books, completely engrossed in their pages. Her expression was a mix of fascination and concentration, her lips forming silent words as she absorbed the knowledge within those worn pages.
I knocked softly, not wanting to startle her, and she jumped, clearly caught off guard. As I entered, she stood up quickly, blinking rapidly as if she'd been caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
"I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't be touching these," she apologized, her voice tinged with guilt.
But I shook my head, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "No problem at all. You're welcome to borrow them anytime."
Her face lit up like a child on Christmas morning, and she grinned at me eagerly. "I also brought some medical books with me when I came aboard the sub. Can I keep them here?" she asked, gesturing to the stack of books she'd brought with her.
I nodded, touched by her enthusiasm. It wasn't every day that someone showed such genuine interest in expanding their knowledge.
And so, our impromptu study sessions began. It was the only time we were truly alone together, just the two of us surrounded by the wealth of knowledge contained within those walls. And as we poured over the books, exchanging insights and ideas, I couldn't help but feel a sense of closeness growing between us. She wasn't just a member of my crew—she was a kindred spirit, hungry for knowledge and eager to learn.
This isn’t something we do on a regular basis. During those rare moments when our duties aligned and we found ourselves in the same room, engrossed in our respective books, I couldn't help but steal glances at her. There was something mesmerizing about the way she immersed herself in her reading, her brow furrowed in concentration, her lips moving silently as she absorbed the words on the page.
One particular night stands out in my memory. We were seated across from each other, the soft glow of the lamplight casting gentle shadows across her features. As I lifted my gaze from the text in front of me, I found myself studying her with a newfound curiosity. Her long lashes brushed against her cheeks with each blink, and her eyes darted back and forth across the pages, devouring every word. My gaze trailed down to the delicate curve of her nose, and then lingered on her lips—soft and full, like petals begging to be kissed.
I shook my head, trying to dispel the sudden wave of distraction that washed over me. I couldn't afford to get lost in thoughts of her—not when there were duties to attend to, and a ship to command. But despite my best efforts to focus on my reading, my mind kept drifting back to her, like a ship caught in an irresistible current.
What are you doing? I chided myself silently, forcing my attention back. I couldn't afford to let myself be distracted—not by her, or by anything else. But as I stole one last glance at her, her beauty illuminated by the soft glow of the lamplight, I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to reach out and touch her, to feel the warmth of her skin beneath my fingertips.
But such thoughts were dangerous, I reminded myself sternly. We were pirates, after all—outlaws on the high seas. And as much as I might have wanted to, I couldn't allow myself to get too close. Not when the stakes were so high, and the dangers so real. So, with a sigh, I forced myself to turn back to my book, pushing aside the tantalizing thoughts that threatened to consume me. But deep down, I knew that no matter how hard I tried to resist, she had already captured a piece of my heart.
That moment of distraction was like a brief flicker of light in the darkness—a glimmer of something I hadn't felt in ages. But I knew better than to let it take root. Emotions were a dangerous thing for a pirate, especially someone in my position. So, I buried those feelings deep down, resolved to concentrate on the current task.
                                               XXXX
I threw myself into my duties with a renewed vigor, strategizing and planning with a single-minded intensity. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and before I knew it, a year had slipped by like sand through my fingers. We had crossed into the treacherous waters of the Grand Line, where danger lurked around every corner and the ocean itself seemed to rise up against us.
In the depths of the Grand Line, the challenges we faced were unlike anything we'd encountered before. The sea monsters were larger, fiercer, and more relentless than those of the North Blue. Every day was a battle for survival, as we navigated through storms and dodged the attacks of creatures that seemed intent on tearing our ship apart.
But despite the dangers, I found solace in the chaos. In the midst of battle, there was no room for distraction or doubt. Every decision had to be made with precision and clarity, every move calculated to ensure our survival. And as the captain of the Heart Pirates, it was my responsibility to lead my crew through the storm and into calmer waters.
So, I pushed aside any lingering thoughts of her. There would be time for reflection later, when the seas were calm and the danger had passed. But for now, my only concern was keeping my crew safe and steering our ship toward our next destination in the unpredictable waters of the Grand Line.
                                           XXXX
It was on one such stop at an island that another incident unfolded. As I stood by the dock, mulling over our next course of action, she came bounding towards me, her fiery determination evident in every step.
I couldn't help but let out a sigh as she stood there, her lips set in a determined pout. This wasn't the first time we'd had this argument, and I had a sinking feeling it wouldn't be the last. She was stubborn, that much was clear, and when she set her mind to something, there was no stopping her.
But as much as her defiance grated on my nerves, I couldn't deny that there was something undeniably endearing about her fiery spirit. Even when she was being a brat, there was a spark in her eyes that I couldn't help but admire.
I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying to quell the rising frustration within me. "Fine, have it your way," I relented, knowing that arguing any further would be futile. "But on one condition."
Her eyes lit up with curiosity as she leaned in, waiting for my terms. "What is it?" she asked eagerly.
"If you're able to land even a small cut on me anywhere on my body, I'll let you join Penguin and the others in their sparring," I replied, a smirk tugging at the corners of my lips.
I told her that she’s supposed to be a support and not someone who fights on the frontline.
Her expression faltered for a moment, a hint of doubt flickering across her features. "That's not fair! You're way stronger than me!" she protested; her frustration evident.
I shrugged nonchalantly, not about to back down. "Then give up, easy as that," I teased, hoping to quell her whining once and for all.
But instead of conceding defeat, she squared her shoulders and met my gaze head-on. "Let me practice first," she declared, her determination shining through.
And in that moment, I knew there was no stopping her. Whether I liked it or not, she was going to find a way to prove herself, even if it meant facing off against me, her captain, in a battle of wills. And as much as I tried to resist, I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride swell within me at the sight of her unwavering determination. She may have been a handful, but she was my crewmate, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
As the crew gathered on the shore, forming a circle around us, I couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation coursing through my veins. The air was charged with excitement, and I tightened my grip on Kikoku, its weight resting comfortably on my shoulder, while the other hand remained tucked inside my pocket.  Beside me stood <y/n>, a few inches away, her movements fluid as she stretched her arms, cracked her knuckles, and warmed up her legs. The intensity in her eyes was unmistakable; she was dead serious about this.
"You can still back out if you want to," I offered, my voice laced with a hint of warning.
"Why? Are you scared of me?" she shot back, her voice laced with playful defiance.
A chorus of cheers erupted from the crew, egging us on as we prepared to face off. I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her cockiness, unsure where her newfound confidence was coming from.
"What's going on?" Shachi whispered to Penguin, his curiosity evident.
"It appears that the two had a deal, something like that," Penguin replied, his arms crossed as he observed the scene. He had assisted her briefly in honing her swordsmanship skills.
As we squared off, I caught Shachi and Penguin exchanging whispered words, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity. They knew something was up, but they trusted me enough to let things play out.
"Just to let you know, I won't hold back. You wanted this after all," I warned her, my grip tightening around my sword as I began to unsheathe it slowly. Truth be told, I was bluffing. Landing a small bruise on her would be sufficient—I had no desire for her to harbor any ill will towards me. But perhaps teaching her a lesson was necessary.
For a moment, hesitation flickered in her eyes as she tightened her grip on her own sword but then she squared her shoulders and advanced towards me. It was easy for me to anticipate her moves, to parry her attacks effortlessly. Despite her lack of experience, she wielded her sword with conviction, her determination evident with each swing. But there was something different about her—something unexpected.
"I thought you're not going to hold back? Why are you on the defensive?" she taunted, her words ringing in the air.
I couldn't help but smirk at her audacity. With a swift movement, I vanished from her line of sight, only to reappear behind her, ready to strike. But to my surprise, she anticipated my move, twisting her body to block my attack with her sword.
Her movements were fluid and precise, as if she could see right through me. And when I attacked again, she parried effortlessly, her eyes locked on mine with a steely determination. Testing my theory, I attacked from a different angle, only for her to evade once more.
"Since when did you know you could use Observation Haki?" I asked, taken aback by her newfound skill.
"I wasn't sure," she admitted, panting slightly from exertion. "I started seeing things differently."
She was full of surprises, that much was clear. But even as we continued to clash, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to her than met the eye.
"The deal is still on though," I reminded her, my voice firm.
"I won't back down," she replied
She may have been a novice, but she had the heart of a warrior, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of respect for her in that moment.
As our sparring continued, I couldn't help but admire her tenacity and marvel her progress. Despite her initial hesitations, she was adapting quickly, her movements becoming more fluid and precise with each exchange. The cheers of the crew egged us on, fueling the fire that burned between us.
But as the minutes dragged on, I found myself growing weary of the fight. With a final swing of my sword, I sent her weapon flying, causing her to lose her balance. Her eyes squeezed shut in anticipation of the fall, but before she could hit the ground, I acted on instinct, hooking my arm around her to steady her. Our eyes locked in a moment of shared intensity, breaths ragged, chests rising and falling in unison. I could feel the warmth of her hand against my chest, the beads of sweat glistening on our foreheads.
For a brief moment, time seemed to stand still, the world around us fading into the background as we stood locked in that intimate embrace. But the sound of applause from the crew jolted me back to reality, and I quickly helped her to her feet, trying to ignore the strange fluttering in my chest.
Retrieving my sword and sheathing it once more, I took a moment to catch my breath, removing my fur hat to run a hand through my hair. But before I could even gather my thoughts, she was already asking about joining the others in their sparring sessions.
"You didn't land a scar anywhere on me. So, it's still a no," I replied firmly, my tone leaving no room for argument.
Her face fell instantly, her lips forming again to a pout that I couldn't help but find endearing. But I refused to let myself give in to her charms—not now, not ever.
"Rules are rules. You know that" I reminded her, furrowing my brows in a gesture that I hoped conveyed my seriousness.
But she wasn't about to give up so easily. Grabbing my arms, she examined them closely, searching for any sign of injury. She squeezed my hand firmly, her touch sending a jolt of electricity through me. Then, she cupped my face in her hands, her touch gentle yet probing. She moved my head from side to side, inspecting me for any hidden injuries, her eyes scanning my features with unwavering focus. I stiffened under her touch, caught off guard by her sudden gesture. A whirlwind of conflicting emotions swirling within me.
"Stop that," I scolded lightly, trying to mask the way her touch affected me.
With a resigned sigh, I watched as the crew began to make their way back to the submarine. But even as we parted ways, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of something much bigger—something that would change us both in ways we couldn't even begin to imagine.
We should talk (Chapter 3.5)
Tumblr media
@SuuNemuii WC: 3,695 | Law x you, afab!reader, continuation of "Silent Longings"
A/N: Impromptu celebration at the deck. As the sun slowly descends and the crew gathers to prepare the freshly caught fish, you find yourself drawn to Penguin's side. Together, you work in tandem, cleaning and seasoning the fish with practiced efficiency. The air is filled with the sound of laughter and conversation as the crew works together.
"Guys!" Shachi's voice cuts through the bustling activity as he appears in the galley, followed closely by Bepo. The two grins as they raised their thumbs up, signaling good news to the rest of the crew gathered in the galley. A ripple of excitement spreads through the room as the crew celebrates the news that Law has agreed to allow them to have a feast on the deck of the submarine instead of in the cramped confines of the galley.
Shachi had also informed them the warning of their captain that the celebration may attract the attention of other pirates or Navy ships passing by, and that the crew should remain vigilant.
The crew erupts into chatter as they begin to discuss how to decorate the deck for the occasion, their excitement palpable in the air. You feel a sense of joy bubbling up inside you, the anticipation of the feast filling you with a childlike glee.
"Smiling suits you the best!" Penguin remarks, his voice warm with affection as he glances over at you.
"Well, I feel happy today," you reply, a smile spreading across your face as you meet his gaze.
Penguin catches sight of the container of fish you have yet to clean and season, and he extends his arm to grab it, but you protest.
"I'll finish cleaning and seasoning these," he insists. "You smell like a fish! Go and freshen up!" he teases, earning a scoff from you in response.
"You're annoying!" you retort, though a hint of amusement colors your tone as you wash your hands thoroughly before swiping them playfully at Penguin's suit.
"Hey!" Penguin protests with a laugh, his eyes dancing with mirth as he watches your antics. "Just you wait!" he adds, a mischievous glint in his eye as he playfully threatens retaliation.
                                          XXX
Wooden boxes have been brought out from storage to serve as makeshift chairs, arranged neatly along the edge of the deck. In the center, a metal drum has been sawed in half and filled with wood, creating a makeshift bonfire and griller that crackles and pops with warmth and light.
As you emerge from your room after taking a bath and prepping up, you find yourself drawn back to the galley, where Shachi is preparing to take the container of seasoned fish outside.
"Do you guys need help?" you ask Shachi as he takes the container of seasoned fish, stepping forward to lend a hand.
"Hmm. I think they've already taken the other supplies outside. Thanks!" Shachi replies with a grateful smile.
With a nod of understanding, you open the door to help Shachi as he carries the container with both hands, the weight of the fish reminding you of the bounty that awaits the crew's enjoyment.
As you step out onto the deck, the scene before you take on a magical quality, illuminated by the soft glow of lanterns strung along the rails. The crew has been hard at work, transforming the otherwise ordinary deck of the submarine into a makeshift celebration fit for a shoreside feast. The cool night air wrapping around you is like a comforting embrace as you join the rest of the crew in preparing for the feast ahead.
As the night unfolds and the crew gathers on deck for the impromptu feast, you find yourself swept up in the warmth of their camaraderie, the laughter and conversation washing away the lingering shadows of doubt and uncertainty that have plagued your heart.
During the hustle and bustle of the festivities, you take a moment to savor the simple pleasure of being surrounded by friends, the weight of your worries momentarily lifted from your shoulders. For a fleeting moment, you allow yourself to bask in the joy of the present, setting aside thoughts of the future and the complexities of your feelings for Law.
Though the moon remains hidden behind a veil of clouds, the deck is bathed in the soft glow of lantern light, casting a warm and welcoming ambiance over the gathering. The Polar Tang sails steadily onward towards its destination, the rhythmic sound of waves lapping against the hull providing a soothing backdrop to the festivities.
Jean Bart effortlessly brings out a barrel of ale and places it on a lower platform, a few inches away from the griller for easy access, while Penguin follows suit with mugs in hand. You seize the opportunity to grab two mugs and fill them with ale, a small gesture of camaraderie as you join Bepo at the corner of the deck.
The scent of grilled fish fills the air, mingling with the aroma of ale as the crew settles in for a night of merriment. You watch with a smile as Bepo happily digs into his plate of food, his enthusiasm contagious as he enjoys the simple pleasures of the feast.
"Thank you!" Bepo smiles gratefully, his eyes twinkling with delight as he accepts the offered mug.
As you settle in to enjoy your meal, a sudden tension grips you, causing your muscles to tense involuntarily. Your heart skips a beat, and your breath catches in your throat as you catch sight of Law emerging from the main entrance of the submarine, his presence commanding attention as he strides onto the deck.
"Captain! Join us!" Shachi's voice breaks through the momentary silence, drawing the attention of the crew to Law's arrival. A chorus of cheers and nods greets him as he scans the deck, his gaze eventually settling on you sitting beside Bepo.
Law's appearance is striking. His hair sleek, combed back and his attire lending him an air of quiet confidence, effortlessly stylish in a white linen shirt, that accentuates the lean lines of his frame, his shirt is partially open to reveal a tantalizing glimpse of his tattooed chest, the sleeves rolled up to his elbow revealing the tattoos adorning his arms.
Time seems to stand still as your eyes meet his, the intensity of his gaze sending a shiver through you. You find yourself unable to tear your gaze away from him and spellbound by his presence, a flood of emotions washing over you in a dizzying rush, the rest of the world fading into the background as you lose yourself in the depths of his gaze.
Penguin offers Law a plate of grilled fish and settles beside Bepo, you find yourself taking a deep breath to calm your nerves. The ale you've been drinking warms your insides, causing your cheeks to flush with a rosy hue. Just as you're about to stand up to refill your mug, Bepo intercepts you with a kind offer to do it for you, his smile bringing a sense of comfort against the swirling emotions inside you.
"Stay there and I'll refill your mug for you," Bepo says, his words accompanied by a warm smile that puts you at ease.
You watch as he stands up and moves to fetch more ale, leaving you and Law alone, just one seat apart. A subtle tension settles between the two of you, the air heavy with unsaid sentiments. You find yourself fidgeting nervously, unable to meet his gaze for more than a fleeting moment. Law, however, remains steadfast, his eyes fixed on you with a quiet intensity that leaves you feeling both intrigued and apprehensive. Your heart flutters nervously as you steal a glance at Law, and offer a tentative smile before quickly looking away, the intensity of the moment leaving you feeling slightly flustered.
Meanwhile, at a distance, Penguin and Shachi share a concerned glance as they observe the interaction between you and Law.
"How do we force the two to talk with each other? Seeing them like this is just...unsettling," Shachi remarks, his tone filled with genuine concern as he continues to eat his fish on a stick.
Penguin lets out a sigh, his brows furrowing in thought, crossing his arms as he ponders the situation. "I'm not sure. It feels like there's a lot left unsaid between them, but we can't force them to confront their feelings," he responds thoughtfully. His gaze flickering between you and Law.
"Besides, this is something they need to figure out on their own. We don't want to intrude on their personal matters,” he adds, his voice tinged with a hint of resignation as he considers the delicate balance of friendship and respect within the crew.
As they continue to brainstorm, you and Law remain lost in your own thoughts, the silence between you stretching on uncomfortably. The weight of unspoken emotions hangs heavy in the air, begging to be addressed but seemingly impossible to breach.
Penguin notices your discomfort, observing your familiar mannerism of clasping your hands together and encircling your thumbs, a sign that you're feeling unsure of what to do. With a flick of his hand and a nod, he silently beckons for you to join him, Shachi, and the rest of the crew. Grateful for the distraction, you quickly rise from your seat and make your way over to them and felt a sense of relief.
Meanwhile, Law crosses his legs and arms, leaning against the rail as he lets out a deep sigh. Bepo, ever attentive to his captain's well-being, offers him a mug of ale with a concerned expression.
"You okay, Captain?" Bepo asks, his voice laced with genuine concern as he hands Law the mug.
"Yeah, I'm good," Law replies, his gaze lingering on you as you happily chat with the other crew. Despite his desire to talk to you, he recognizes that you're actively avoiding him, and he doesn't want to cause a scene, especially in front of his crew. He takes the mug and slowly sips from it, his thoughts weighing heavily on his mind.
After a moment, Law stands up and clears his throat, drawing the attention of everyone on the deck.
"My fellow crewmates," he begins, his voice firm and commanding as he addresses the gathered crew. "Tonight, as we gather together under the stars, let us take a moment to appreciate the bonds that unite us as a crew. We've faced many challenges together, and yet, despite it all, we've remained steadfast, working together to conquer any hurdles that cross our path.”
As Law speaks, a sense of unity fills the air, his words resonating with each member of the crew. With a raised mug, Law offers a toast to their resilience and strength, his eyes meeting each of theirs in turn.
"To the Polar Tang, and to each and every one of you," he declares, his voice ringing out over the deck.
The crew erupts into cheers and applause, their spirits lifted by Law's words of encouragement.
                                                XXX
Soon after, Law walks towards the entrance and stops beside Penguin, a sense of authority emanates from him as he claps a hand onto Penguin's shoulder.
"I'll be in the control room, let me know if there's any problem. Stay alert," Law commands, his tone firm and authoritative.
"On it, Captain! Leave it to me!" Penguin replies with a crisp salute, his demeanor instantly shifting into one of readiness and determination. His sense of responsibility kicks in. With a nod from Law, Penguin watches as the captain disappears into the submarine with two of his crewmates, their duty to man the control room and ensure the safety of the vessel.
"Oi! Penguin! Can you help grill the other fish here?" Shachi's voice calls out from across the deck, breaking the momentary silence that follows Law's departure.
"Coming!" Penguin responds promptly, turning towards the grilling station with a sense of purpose. Before he leaves, however, he turns to you with a concerned expression.
"Are you okay on your own?" he asks, his concern evident in his eyes.
You nod enthusiastically in response, offering him a reassuring smile. With a nod of appreciation, Penguin turns away and rolls up his sleeves, ready to assist with grilling the remaining fish.
Returning to your seat beside Bepo, you find comfort in his presence as you lean your head against his arm.
"Do you mind?" you ask softly, grateful for his companionship.
Bepo shakes his head, a warm smile on his face. "Of course not. Anytime," he replies.
"Thank you, Bepo," you say with a smile and your voice soft with emotion, glancing around at your crewmates who are engaged in lively conversation and laughter. "For everything."
Bepo furrows his brow, a hint of confusion in his expression as he responds, "Thank you for what? You sound like you're saying goodbye," he remarks, concern flickering in his eyes.
You pause, considering his words for a moment before shaking your head with a small laugh. "Do I? No, it's just that I'm glad to be a part of this crew. You guys are my new family."
"We're glad to have you with us," he says, his words carrying a sincerity that touches your heart. And in that moment, surrounded by the laughter of your crewmates, you feel a sense of belonging that fills you with a deep sense of gratitude and contentment.
Bepo rose from his seat and seamlessly merged with the rest of the crew, leaving you alone. You also rose from your seat and found solace in the corner, leaning your forearms on the rail as you gazed out over the expanse of the ocean.
Your mind became a whirlwind of thoughts, all centered around Law and his actions toward you since he had rejected your feelings. It was a topic you typically brushed aside, but now it felt unavoidable. However, the prospect of confronting Law seemed daunting, leaving you uncertain how to proceed. Doubts clouded your mind, making you fear that you were reading too much into things or overreacting.
Tumblr media
"Penny for your thoughts?" Penguin's voice broke through your reverie as he stood beside you, his presence offering a comforting anchor in the storm of your emotions. Without waiting for your response, Penguin continued,
"Let me guess, it's the captain. Again." His words echoed your inner turmoil, and you simply nodded in response.
"Tell me if you're ready to share," Penguin gently urged, his tone conveying understanding and support.
How could I articulate what I am feeling? You took a moment to collect your thoughts, pausing before speaking.
“The captain... his behavior has been different lately. Ever since he rejected my feelings, it's like he's been drawing closer, almost as if he's trying to make up for it," you finally admit, your voice barely above a whisper.
"And how does that make you feel?" Penguin's tone shifted, becoming more serious as he assessed your emotions.
"I don't know," you admitted, furrowing your brow in frustration. "Honestly, I feel confused, and it's been giving me a hard time too," you added, your voice wavering slightly. A brief silence settled between you, heavy with unspoken emotions.
Penguin sensed your vulnerability and chose his words carefully, hesitant to pry further into your personal struggles. He wanted to ask about your feelings toward Law, but it felt too intimate, too raw to broach without your consent.
"Have you spoken to him?" Penguin finally asked, his tone gentle yet probing.
"Huh? Talk to him?" You furrowed your brow in confusion. "I've been avoiding him, hoping these feelings would just fade away on their own," you explained.
Penguin's expression soured at your response. "Running away won't solve anything," he chided you, his voice stern.
"Well, what do you suggest I do then?" You challenged him, meeting his gaze defiantly.
Penguin sighed, his features softening with concern. "Listen, I know you're upset with him. But if you're feeling uneasy about his behavior, why not give him a chance to explain himself?" he suggested.
"Wait for him? And then what? What if he's just feeling guilty? That's not going to make things any better for me," you countered, frustration evident in your voice.
"But what if that's not the case?" Penguin pressed, his tone coaxing.
"Why? Do you know something? Have you spoken to him?" You demanded, searching his eyes for answers.
"No, I don't have all the answers. I'm not going to pry into the captain’s personal affairs. I'm just here to help both of you through this," Penguin reassured you, his words laced with sincerity.
You bit your lip, feeling your emotions bubbling to the surface. Tears threatened to spill from your eyes, and you hastily wiped them away with your fingertips. Penguin noticed your distress and, without a word, reached out to offer comfort. His hand settled gently on your shoulder, the other moving to stroke your head in a soothing gesture, silently conveying his support and understanding.
                                             XXX
"I'm sorry! I shouldn't be so emotional right now," you apologize, brushing away your tears with the back of your hand.
"No, it's okay! I'm glad you reached out to me," Penguin reassures you, his voice soft and understanding.
Suddenly, you catch him off guard by enveloping him in a hug, resting your cheek against his chest. Penguin is surprised by the unexpected gesture, but he quickly returns the embrace, wrapping his arms around you in a comforting hold.
"There, there," Penguin murmurs, gently patting your back.
As you hold each other, Penguin can't help but feel a pang of longing deep within him. He wishes he could ease your pain, make your troubles disappear with just the warmth of his embrace. But he knows that some things are beyond his control, and your heartache is one of them.
If it's you, I really don't mind. At all. Penguin thinks to himself, cherishing the moment of closeness between the two of you. He wishes he could express his true feelings, but for now, all he can do is offer you his support and comfort, hoping that it brings you some measure of solace in your time of need.
                                                XXX
Shachi heads inside the submarine to use the bathroom, leaving you and Penguin alone at the corner of the deck. Unaware of Shachi's departure, you and Penguin remain engrossed in your conversation, finding solace in each other's company.
Law had decided to go back to the deck. From a distance, Shachi spots Law heading in the same direction and quickly hurries back to the deck. His eyes widen in surprise when he sees you and Penguin locked in a hug, a sight that sets off alarm bells in his mind. Hurriedly, he approaches Bepo, tapping his arm to get his attention.
"What is it?" Bepo asks, turning to Shachi, who points in your direction with a sense of urgency.
"Law's coming!" Shachi whispers to Bepo, the concern evident in his voice. They both realize the potential misunderstanding that could arise if Law sees you and Penguin in such a close embrace.
Without hesitation, they decide to intervene, hoping to divert Law's attention away from the two of you. Bepo opens his arms wide, exclaiming, "Group hug!" as he wraps his furry arms around both you and Penguin. Shachi follows suit, joining in the embrace as they pull you both into the center of the impromptu hug.
Confusion flashes across your face as you question what's happening, but before you can voice your thoughts, the rest of the crew joins in, creating a circle of warmth around you. You find yourself at the center of it all, surrounded by the comforting embrace of your crewmates.
Meanwhile, as Law steps out of the submarine, he's taken aback by the sight that greets him. A smile tugs at the corners of his lips as he observes the scene before him, the genuine bond between his crewmates evident in their spontaneous display of affection.
Whew, that was close, Shachi thinks to himself.
Law’s gaze sweeps over the scene, taking in the smiles and laughter that light up the faces of his comrades. For a moment, he allows himself to simply bask in the joyous atmosphere.
But as he observes the group, Law's eyes inevitably land on you and Penguin, who are nestled in the center of the embrace. A flicker of curiosity crosses his features as he watches the interaction between the two of you, his mind momentarily occupied with thoughts of what might have transpired in his absence.
But before Law can dwell too long on his observations, Bepo catches sight of him and breaks away from the hug, bounding over to greet his captain with a wide grin.
"Captain!" Bepo exclaims. Law returns Bepo's smile with a nod of acknowledgement.
Penguin notices Law's arrival and offers him a warm smile. "Hey, Captain! Join the fun!" he calls out, gesturing for Law to join the group. Despite Penguin's friendly invitation, Law's expression tightens imperceptibly, a hint of irritation flashing in his eyes. However, he quickly masks his emotions with a polite nod, knowing he can't show his feelings to everyone.
As the night draws to a close and the festivities wind down, Law finds himself grappling with conflicting emotions. His thoughts are still preoccupied with the scene he observed earlier. A sense of unease settles in the pit of his stomach. The sight of you and Penguin sharing such a close moment ignites a flicker of jealousy within him, despite his best efforts to remain composed.
Too much closeness for one day. Are they really that close even before? Law wonders to himself, his mind swirling with questions and doubts. He pinches the bridge of his nose, attempting to quell the rising tension within him.
I must talk to her, first thing in the morning.
Law retreats to his quarters. He couldn't shake the thought of the upcoming conversation and it occupied his mind completely. He may not fully understand the complexities of his feelings, but he knows that he can't let them linger unresolved any longer and confronting the issue head-on seems to be the only solution.
Silent Longings (Chapter 3)
Tumblr media
@GOKUJOUNOMAGURO
WC: 3,381 / Law x afab!reader / continuation of Two-way dilemma (Chapter 2)
A/N: Apologies for the delayed update! I had to discard the original idea for this chapter as I aim to avoid extending the series excessively.
DAY 0
The scene unfolds within the cramped confines of the Polar Tang. The air is thick with a mixture of anticipation and tension as the crew gathers for a crucial meeting. The dim lighting casts long shadows across the metal walls, accentuating the seriousness of their situation.
Law sits at the head of a makeshift table, his expression stoic and unwavering. His voice cuts through the silence with authority as he addresses Bepo, his first mate, with a stern tone.
"How long before we could reach the next island?" he demands, his eyes fixed on the map spread out before them.
Bepo studies the map intently before offering his assessment. "I could say, less than a week," he replies, his voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty.
Penguin steps forward, laying out the blueprint of the Polar Tang with a sense of urgency. He points to the damaged section of the submarine, where the sea monster had struck them just the other day. His words are measured, each one emphasizing the gravity of their predicament.
"Emergency repairs were implemented," Penguin explains, his tone grave. “However, because of the impact, we are unable to dive deep into the ocean for the time being.”
Shachi adds to the mounting list of concerns, reporting on their dwindling supplies with a sense of grim inevitability.
"Our supplies are running low as well," he interjects, his voice tinged with worry. "I estimate they could last right before we could reach the next island."
Law listens intently, his mind already racing with plans and contingencies calculating their next move. He brushes his chin thoughtfully with his right hand, a gesture that belies the weight of his responsibilities as captain. Nodding in understanding, he acknowledges the reports with a silent resolve.
"Anything else to address?" he asks the crew, his gaze sweeping over each member in turn. After a tense moment of silence, Law takes charge, rolling out different duties to each crewmate with a sense of purpose. With the meeting adjourned, the crew disperses, each member focused on their assigned tasks as they prepare to face the challenges that lie ahead.
Law's sigh reverberated in the quiet room; a heavy exhale laden with the weight of their precarious situation. As he sat at the edge of the table, the coin in his hand danced with the flicker of his thoughts. The room seemed to close in around him, the silence thickening with every passing moment.
“I hope we won't find ourselves on the Navy's radar.” He mused quietly to himself. His mind already preoccupied with the myriad dangers that lurk on the horizon.
Lost in his thoughts, Law was startled when you entered the room. Your presence was unexpected, a break in the solitude he had grown accustomed to. For a fleeting moment, your eyes met his, a silent exchange of acknowledgment before you looked away.
"I'm on cleaning duty today," you announced, your voice cutting through the silence like a lifeline. Law's gaze lingered on you; his scrutiny almost recognizable.
"You're not taking additional duties from anyone, are you?" he asked, his tone laced with a knowing edge that sent a chill down your spine. How did he know? The question hung in the air, leaving you feeling exposed and vulnerable.
"No, I won't do that again," you replied, the admission weighing heavily on your conscience. There was no point in hiding the truth from him, not when he already knew. You busied yourself with tidying the scattered maps and blueprints, a feeble attempt to distract yourself from his penetrating gaze.
"How are you now?" Law's question caught you off guard, his concern genuine and unexpected. Your heart fluttered in response, uncertainty clouding your thoughts.
"I feel better now. Thank you for the other day," you replied softly, your voice barely above a whisper.
Law moves closer, his steps measured and deliberate, prompting a flicker of apprehension within you. You brace yourself, expecting the unexpected, only to be caught off guard as his hand touches your forehead and gently tugging the skin below your eye with his thumb assessing your well-being with clinical precision.
Meeting his gaze, you find yourself caught in the intensity of his scrutiny. His actions, though gentle, carry a weight of concern that resonates deep within you, prompting a surge of conflicting emotions.
"Let me take those." Law's offer is accompanied by a subtle brush of his hand against yours, a fleeting touch that make your heart flutter.
"You're also relieved of your duties for today." His statement is firm, yet beneath the surface lies a genuine desire to ensure your well-being.
"Captain! I told you I'm fine!" You protest, your voice tinged with frustration and defiance, yet it's clear that your resolve is beginning to waver.
"You look pale. Are you going to disobey the doctor's orders too?" Law's question cuts through your protests like a surgeon's scalpel, leaving you momentarily speechless. In his words, there's a blend of concern and authority, a reminder of his role not just as your captain but also as the doctor of the ship.
Faced with his unwavering gaze, you feel a sense of resignation wash over you, the weight of his concern impossible to ignore. In that moment, you realize that resistance is futile, and with a resigned sigh, you reluctantly concede defeat.
With the room finally tidied, Law motioned for you to follow him, his demeanor calm and composed. Unease gnawed at the edges of your consciousness as you trailed behind him, the weight of his sudden kindness lingering like a shadow.
Stopping at his quarters, Law disappeared momentarily before returning with a handful of medicines. He explained their purpose and dosage with the precision of a seasoned doctor.
As he handed you the medicines, a flicker of hope ignited within you, only to be extinguished by the harsh reality of his rejection. He was your captain, your mentor, and nothing more. With a heavy heart, you resigned yourself to your fate. Despite his kindness, you reminded yourself not to read too much into his actions, knowing all too well the boundaries that had been set between you.
Leaving his quarters, the weight of unspoken emotions hung heavy in the air, leaving you to grapple with the conflicting feelings stirred by Law's unexpected care and your own guarded heart. You understood that his kindness was merely a duty, not a sign of affection.
DAY 2
Feeling rejuvenated by the restorative effects of the medicine Law had provided, you greet the day with newfound energy.
Do I still look sick? You stand before the mirror; you notice a lingering hint of paleness in your complexion. With a deft hand, you apply a touch of blush and lipstick, hoping to mask the telltale signs of your weakened state.
Glancing out the window, you're greeted by the sight of a school of fish gracefully swimming past, their vibrant colors a stark contrast to the muted tones of the submarine's interior. The muffled voices and footsteps outside your door pull you from your reverie, prompting you to hastily tie your hair back before stepping into the hallway.
There, you find Penguin and Shachi, each carrying buckets and fishing rods, their faces alight with anticipation.
"Hi, <y/n>!" Shachi calls out, waving enthusiastically as you approach.
"Wanna join us?" Penguin chimes in, his smile warm and inviting.
You nod eagerly, grateful for the chance to spend time with your crewmates and catch some fresh food for the journey ahead. United in camaraderie, you stride alongside them, anticipation of adventure gleaming in your eyes as you set sail for another day on the boundless ocean.
Stepping onto the submarine's deck, you're greeted by the soothing embrace of the ocean breeze, the salty air filling your lungs and rejuvenating your spirit. As you approach Bepo, you can't help but marvel at the sight of him effortlessly reeling in yet another fish, the creature flipping and flopping on the fishing rod in a desperate bid for freedom.
"The cooler is almost full, Bepo!" you exclaim, genuinely impressed by the bounty he's managed to capture.
"Someone's having a feast tonight!" Shachi interjects with a mischievous grin, his playful jab aimed at Bepo's undeniable love for fish. A chorus of laughter fills the air as you join in the lighthearted banter, the camaraderie of the moment washing away any lingering traces of worry or doubt.
Penguin extends the fishing rod towards you, his expression eager as he offers to teach you the art of angling.
"Do you know how to use it?" he asks, his eyes twinkling with anticipation.
"I'm afraid not," you admit with a nervous smile, feeling a pang of embarrassment at your lack of expertise.
Without hesitation, Penguin steps forward to demonstrate, guiding you through the process with patience and encouragement. You watch intently as he explains each step, nodding along in understanding as you prepare to cast your line into the depths below.
"Here goes nothing!" you declare with a mixture of excitement and nervousness, casting the reel with a flick of your wrist. Your heart races as you wait with bated breath, the anticipation building with each passing moment.
Before long, you feel a gentle tug on the line, signaling that you've hooked your first catch. With a surge of adrenaline, you begin to reel in your prize, a triumphant grin spreading across your face as you hold up the fish for Penguin to see.
"Look, Penguin!" you exclaim, your voice filled with pride as you display your achievement.
Penguin's reaction is a mix of surprise and delight, his gaze lingering on you with a warmth that sends a flutter of butterflies through your stomach.
"Penguin?" you inquire, noticing the slight flush that colors his cheeks.
"You're doing great!" he assures you with a smile, his attempt to conceal his emotions only serving to endear him to you even more.
“Let me know if you need help.” Penguin offered to give you some space on the other side of the ship. You nod eagerly, feeling a newfound sense of confidence lifting your spirits as you resume fishing with renewed determination. With each cast of your line, you feel a deep connection to the expansive and enigmatic world beneath the surface, grateful for the chance to explore its wonders alongside your crewmates.
You cast your bait once more, anticipation tingles through your veins, mingling with the thrill of the hunt. However, this time, the wait seems to stretch on longer than before, prompting a furrow of confusion to crease your brow. Sensing something amiss, you glance down into the depths of the ocean, your eyes scanning the shimmering expanse for any sign of movement.
Suddenly, a gentle tug on your rod jolts you back to attention, followed by a powerful, relentless pull that sends the reel into a frenzy. With a gasp of surprise, you struggle to maintain your grip as the unseen behemoth beneath the waves puts up a fierce fight, its strength evident in the strain it exerts on the line.
"This is a big one!" you exclaim, a surge of adrenaline coursing through your veins as you brace yourself for the battle ahead. With each tug of the rod, you can feel the fish's raw power, its determination matched only by your own resolve to emerge victorious in this exhilarating duel of strength and willpower.
With every ounce of strength you possess, you grapple with the fishing rod, your muscles straining against the relentless pull of the unseen adversary below. Frustration simmers beneath the surface as you struggle to gain the upper hand, your determination matched only by the stubborn resilience of the creature on the other end of the line.
"Why. Can't. You. Just. Give. UP!!!" you grit out through clenched teeth, your frustration boiling over into a fierce battle cry as you pour every ounce of your being into the struggle.
Your foot finds purchase on the rail, anchoring you in place as you muster all your strength for one final pull. But despite your best efforts, the fish proves to be a formidable opponent, its strength far surpassing your own.
With a forceful tug, you lose your balance, teetering dangerously on the edge of the deck as gravity threatens to claim you. But before you can plummet into the churning waters below, a strong arm wraps around your torso, pulling you back from the brink with a jolt.
Your back collides with the solid warmth of Law's chest, his presence a stabilizing force amid chaos. You feel a rush of relief flood through you as his touch grounds you, his left arm seamlessly intertwining with yours as he takes charge of the rod.
"Are you okay?" he asks, his voice laced with concern as he releases his hold on you, his attention focused solely on the immediate job helping out with catching the elusive fish.
You draw in a ragged breath, your heart pounding in your chest as adrenaline courses through your veins.
"Yes," you manage to gasp out, your voice barely above a whisper as you watch in awe as Law assumes control, his expertise evident in the confident ease.
As you stand side by side, you can't help but feel a sense of gratitude wash over you, grateful for the unwavering support of the man who stands beside you. You can't help but feel the surge of admiration for him.
                                                       ////////
As Penguin rushes to your aid, his heart pounding in his chest, he finds himself frozen in place at the sight of you enveloped in Law's embrace. A knot forms in his stomach, a mixture of concern and uncertainty swirling within him as he watches from a distance, waiting for the opportune moment to intervene.
As Law releases you, Penguin steps forward, his expression a mask of concern as he moves to stand beside you. Shachi and Bepo follow suit, their eyes wide with astonishment at the spectacle unfolding before them.
"What happened?" Penguin inquires, his voice laced with worry as he surveys the scene before him.
With each passing moment, the tension mounts as Law continues to battle against the powerful sea creature, his movements precise and calculated as he strives to overcome the obstacle in front of him. And as the struggle reaches its climax, you find yourself holding your breath, your heart pounding in your chest as you wait with bated breath for the moment of victory.
The surface of the water erupts in a tumultuous display of raw power, the massive fish that had eluded you moments before breaching the surface with a deafening roar. Gasps of awe escape the lips of the onlookers as they bear witness to the sheer size and strength of the creature, their senses overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of its presence.
But the awe is short-lived as an even larger sea creature emerges from the depths, its colossal form eclipsing everything in its wake. With a mighty crash, it engulfs the elusive fish whole, sending shockwaves rippling through the water, making the submarine rock precariously.
"Shit!" Shachi curses under his breath, his eyes wide with fear as he watches the colossal creature disappear back into the depths from whence it came.
With a sense of urgency, you and your companions waste no time in making your way to the safety of the ship's main entrance, the adrenaline-fueled rush of fear propelling you forward as you seek refuge from the unpredictable chaos of the ocean.
"Keep watch and be ready to act at a moment's notice." Law steps forward, his voice steady and commanding. His hand already on the hilt of his sword. The crew nods in agreement, their resolve strengthened by Law's unwavering leadership.
As the moments tick by intense anticipation, the crew holds their breath, their eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of the colossal sea creature that had sent shockwaves through their midst. With each passing second, the tension mounts, the air thick with uncertainty as they brace themselves for whatever may come.
But as the minutes stretch into eternity, the ocean remains eerily calm, its surface undisturbed by the presence of the elusive behemoth. A collective sigh of relief escapes from the lips of the crew, the tension slowly dissipating as they realize that the danger has passed, at least for now.
The silence is broken by the sound of your laughter, the unexpected release of tension sparking a wave of amusement that washes over you and your companions alike. Your laughter rings out across the deck, a melodic symphony of relief and nervous energy that fills the air with warmth and camaraderie.
Law's gaze softens as he turns to look at you, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. In that moment, the weight of the world seems to lift from his shoulders, replaced by a sense of lightheartedness and joy at the sight of your infectious laughter.
"I'm sorry! I just can't!" you gasp between fits of laughter, wiping the tears from your eyes as you struggle to regain your composure.
A smile spreads across Penguin's face as he watches you, his own amusement mirroring yours.
"You sure had fun!" he remarks, his voice warm with affection as he joins in the chorus of laughter that echoes across the deck.
                                                      /////////
As you and the rest of the crew gather around the coolers filled with the day's bounty, Bepo's eyes sparkle with delight at the sight of the freshly caught fish, his enthusiasm infectious as he eagerly examines each specimen with childlike wonder.
"It's a shame we weren't able to catch the big fish earlier," you remark with a hint of disappointment, a wistful sigh escaping your lips as you glance at the smaller catches nestled within the cool confines of the containers.
"Haha! At least we don't have to deal with that sea creature. You hooked its prey!" Penguin chimes in with a laugh, his playful tone easing the tension and drawing a chuckle from the rest of the crew. Absentmindedly, he places his left arm around your shoulder, offering a comforting squeeze that sends a warm flutter through your chest.
"It's not my fault though!" you protest with a playful bump of your elbow, the camaraderie of the moment dispelling any lingering traces of unease.
Unbeknownst to you, Law watches from a distance, his expression unreadable as he observes the interaction between you and Penguin. A flicker of something crosses his features, too fleeting to decipher. He grips his sword tightly, a silent sentinel standing watch over the scene before him.
For a moment, he considers intervening, of asserting his presence and reclaiming your attention. But the weight of his responsibilities as captain holds him back, anchoring him in place like an invisible tether.
In the end, he knows that now is not the time nor the place for such confrontations. With a sigh of resignation, Law turns away, his footsteps silent against the metal deck as he retreats back inside the submarine, unnoticed by the crew.
Still on the deck, you contemplate the portions to be set aside for future consumption and plan out the evening's dinner menu, various fish recipes dance through your mind, each one more tantalizing than the last.
"Let's cook grilled fish!" Bepo exclaims, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "It's the captain's favorite too," he adds, a note of excitement in his tone.
"Ok! then that's settled!" you reply with a smile, your enthusiasm matching his own as you eagerly agree to his suggestion. You turn around to share the news with the rest of the crew, your smile faltering slightly as you realize that Law is nowhere to be found.
For a moment, a pang of disappointment washes over you, the absence of Law's familiar presence casting a shadow over the excitement of the evening.
Why am I even looking for him? you wonder to yourself, shaking off the fleeting sense of longing as you focus on your task. With a renewed sense of purpose, you join the rest of the crew in preparing for the evening's festivities, determined to make the most of the time you have together, even in Law's absence.
Two-way dilemma (Chapter 2)
Tumblr media
@SuuNemuii WC: 3,296 | Law x y/n, afab!reader, continuation of "It's complicated"
A/N: This chapter certainly exhausted my brain cells. I wrote it in between my office work, drawing inspiration from various pictures, accompanied by the music of Taylor Swift or Coldplay, and reflecting on some of my past experiences.
The Polar Tang hummed with the routine buzz of activity, and the confined space of the submarine felt both comforting and stifling. A day had passed since the confession, leaving your eyes heavy from the weight of your tears. The sting of rejection lingered, but as you rose from your bed, you took a deep breath, determined to face the day ahead with renewed strength.
Freshening up, you stood before the mirror, reminding yourself that time would heal the wounds. A slight slap to your cheeks was both a physical and mental wake-up call. With newfound resolve, you opened the door to your room, only to be greeted by the unexpected sight of Bepo standing in front of you.
"Bepo?!" Confusion etched your features as you questioned his presence.
"Good morning, <y/n>!" Bepo's infectious grin welcomed you, his demeanor bright and cheerful.
Closing the door behind you, you inquired, "Is there anything you need?"
"Ah, nothing. I'm just checking up on you." Bepo's smile remained warm and genuine.
Walking side by side, the two of you strolled through the submarine's corridors. As the minutes passed, a realization dawned on you – perhaps Penguin and Shachi had shared the bittersweet details of your confession with Bepo. Deep in thought, you mustered the courage to ask for a favor.
"Bepo, may I ask you a favor?" you hesitated, your eyes searching his.
"Yeah? What is it?" Bepo responded with curiosity.
"Could you help me get more duties here in the submarine?" The request hung in the air; your eyes hopeful but uncertain.
"Hmm? But... that's for the captain to decide," Bepo replied, his expression thoughtful.
"Oh, okay..." Your gaze lifted, lost in contemplation.
"Sorry I couldn't help you out... or maybe... you could ask the others if they need help," Bepo suggested, offering an alternative with a genuine desire to assist.
"OH! That's a good idea!" Relief washed over you, and a smile broke through the clouds of uncertainty.
Reaching the common area where the hallways split, you bid Bepo goodbye with a wave as he headed back to the control room. Determination filled you as you embarked on a quest to find other crew members. If additional duties could serve as a distraction, perhaps it would help mend the fragments of your aching heart.
"Let's do this!" you muttered to yourself, a mantra to guide you through the uncharted waters of healing and self-discovery.
--------------
A week had passed since the fateful day. The subtle change in your behavior had not gone unnoticed by the crew. You threw yourself into your work, exerting energy across various tasks aboard the submarine. Cleaning, working, taking on any duty that came your way—anything to keep busy and avoid any potential encounter with the captain. Even your eating schedule changed, either aligning with others or sneaking off to your room to dine alone, distancing yourself from Law.
You seemed content in your efforts, but the crew began to notice the change. Concern etched on their faces, they gathered in the common area, Shachi and Penguin at the center of attention.
Ikkaku, one of the engineers, voiced the growing worry.
"Is there something we need to know regarding <y/n>?"
Penguin, feigning ignorance, gave her a puzzled look. "What do you mean?"
"She seems like she's trying to always get herself busy these few days. Did the captain scold her or something?" Ikkaku questioned, the concern noticeable.
"I bet something's going on," Hakugan added, echoing the sentiments of the crew.
Concerned voices overlapped, and the crew crowded around Penguin and Shachi, eyes wide and expectant. Penguin tried to calm the situation.
"Hey! Calm your horses! Chill, guys!" Penguin raised his hands in an attempt to quell the commotion. He sighed, gesturing for the crew to come closer to hear him out. Just as he was about to share the details, Shachi spotted Law approaching, bent down and crossing his arms.
"Captain?!" Shachi exclaimed in surprise.
Law questioned, "Am I not allowed to hear what my crew has to share with everyone here?"
Penguin, seizing the moment, anchored his arm to Law's shoulder, leading him away from the crowd. Shachi motioned for the other crew members to disperse while Law was being distracted by Penguin.
"Cap, there's nothing to worry about. Relax," Penguin said, tapping Law's shoulder with a nervous laugh.
Law, squinting his eyes and frowning, asked, "So... you are talking behind my back now?"
"NO!... No..! That ain't true!" Penguin responded nervously.
However, before the situation could escalate further, a loud thud and a massive impact shook the submarine. The sudden loss of electricity plunged the hallways into darkness, and emergency red lights began to flash. Crew members lost their balance, grasping onto whatever they could find.
"Attention, everyone! We are being attacked by a sea serpent!" Bepo's voice echoed through the submarine's speakers, alerting everyone to the imminent danger. The crew's attention shifted from internal matters to the external threat, uniting them in the face of a common adversary.
With a swift activation of his devil fruit ability, Law, accompanied by Shachi and Penguin, teleported to the control room in an instant.
"Bepo! Status report!" Law's stern voice cut through the urgency in the room, embodying the seriousness of the captain in the face of danger.
The radar emitted a rapid beep, and a rushing, flashing red light revealed another sea serpent fast approaching the submarine. Law, quick to take charge, commanded the crew in the control room effortlessly, enabling the submarine to avoid a direct hit, though it was slightly scratched at the side.
Law's keen perception led him to notice something amiss.
"Where's <y/n>-ya?" he questioned, his eyes scanning the control room.
Penguin thought of her, realizing she should have been in the room.
"Captain! I'll look - " Penguin began, but Law swiftly interrupted, issuing a chain of commands:
"Penguin, take charge," Law's voice was stern and calm.
"Shachi, call on the others and have the submarine checked for repairs."
"Clione, prepare the torpedoes and await Penguin’s orders.”
"Bepo, prepare to resurface. Alert me once we're above the sea."
"Aye, aye CAPTAIN!" The crew responded in unison, saluting Law as he left the control room, katana in hand.
An abrupt silence enveloped the room as the crew exchanged surprised glances. Penguin and Shachi, sharing a knowing grin, found delight in the unexpected action of their captain.
"He went out just to find her!" Shachi exclaimed with a sense of delight. Penguin, equally excited, couldn't contain his emotions. The room seemed to lighten up for a moment, but reality struck with Penguin's clapping of hands.
"Everyone, refocus! The ship is in our hands!" Penguin exclaimed, bringing the crew back to the urgent task at hand.
With newfound determination, the crew immediately returned to their stations, the emergency red lights casting an eerie glow on their faces. The atmosphere was tense, yet their unity and commitment to the mission prevailed as they navigated the submarine through the dark depths of the ocean.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@
In the engine room, amidst the humming machinery, you conducted your routine check-up when an unexpected thud reverberated through the submarine. Panic seized you as the lights went out, plunging the room into darkness. Disoriented, you lost your balance and collided with a nearby beam, the impact sending a sharp pain through your forehead.
Sitting down, you instinctively reached for your forehead, your hand coming away wet with blood. The emergency lights flickered to life, casting an eerie red glow in the confined space. The sight of your own blood on your hand made you feel lightheaded, and white dots began to dance across your field of vision.
Aware that you were on the verge of fainting, you took deep breaths in an attempt to steady your nerves. The metallic taste of fear lingered in your mouth as you struggled to remain conscious. Every move felt like a monumental effort, and as you tried to stand, fatigue threatened to overwhelm your system.
"My bad luck continues then..." you whispered to yourself, your voice weak and filled with resignation.
Summoning the last reserves of your strength, you began to crawl toward the metal door. The cold floor pressed against your palms as you moved inch by inch, each movement sending waves of dizziness through your weakened body. With determination in your heart and a throbbing pain in your head, you navigated the dimly lit engine room, the emergency lights casting long shadows that seemed to taunt your feeble attempts to reach safety.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@
As Law hurried out of the control room, his thoughts were filled with concern. The Heart Pirates had undergone rigorous training to navigate situations like these, given that the Polar Tang frequently submerged into the dark depths of the sea, encountering various threats from sea monsters. The safety of his crew always took precedence, and with the submarine under attack, Law's immediate focus was on ensuring your well-being. Noticing your absence at the station when sea monsters struck, he suspected that something might have occurred on your way to the control room.
Law had complete trust in his crew, instilling discipline and ensuring that everyone knew their responsibilities. He was well aware of each crew member's routine within the submarine, and any deviation from the norm would catch his attention. However, he had observed you taking on additional work, attributing it to your way of coping with the rejection. Though he noticed, he chose to overlook it, feeling a tinge of guilt.
Remaining calm, Law swiftly checked every room, his mind calculating the potential dangers the crew might face. At a critical point, a thought struck him – a feeling that urged him to check the engine room. Law considered every worst-case scenario that could involve you and, without hesitation, descended straight to the room.
His steps were purposeful, his heart pounding with the gravity of the situation. The emergency lights flickered as he navigated the dimly lit corridors, each step bringing him closer to the engine room. Law's expression remained stoic, but underneath, a sense of urgency and concern for your safety fueled his determined stride.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
You managed to reach the door of the engine room, your body slumped against the cold floor, the last remnants of your energy draining away. Your vision blurred, and as your eyes began to shut, you uttered a weak plea for help, the words escaping your lips almost inaudibly. Desperation fueled your attempt to stay conscious.
"Help, please..."
With the little strength you had left, you reached out for the door. As your trembling hand made contact, the door swung open, hitting the side of the wall with a metallic thud.
"<y/n>-ya!!" Law's voice echoed through the room as he flung the metal door wide open. His eyes quickly scanned the area until they landed on you, slumped on the cold floor. He ran towards you, swiftly placing his katana on the side, his immediate focus on checking your condition. The trail of dry blood on your forehead drew his attention, and he spoke to you, his voice filled with concern. However, disoriented and weakened, you struggled to comprehend his words, unsure of who was addressing you.
Before Law could use his Devil Fruit ability to scan your injuries further, Bepo's voice echoed through the submarine's speakers, bringing news of the submarine nearing the surface. Law faced a dilemma – torn between tending to you and dealing with the sea serpent threat. Reluctantly, he carefully lifted your arms to wrap around his neck, sliding his left arm behind your back for support. With his right hand, he retrieved his katana, lifting both of your legs to facilitate the carry.
"Hold on tight," Law commanded, your head resting on his left shoulder. Adjusting his grip, he twisted his left wrist, palm facing the floor, activating his Devil Fruit power.
"ROOM," he uttered, and a light, thin blue bubble film enveloped both of you.
"SHAMBLES!"
In an instant, the surroundings warped and changed, and you were no longer in the engine room.
As the submarine emerged from the sea water, Law's "Room" ability teleported you both onto the deck. Gently placing you on the floor with your back against the metallic wall near the main entrance, Law ensured your safety. The sunlight filtered into your eyes, and the sea breeze brushed against your skin as you inhaled deeply. The realization dawned on you that Law had been the one to rescue you from the engine room.
Opening your eyes, you took in the scene around you. It had been a while since you were outside the confines of the submarine. The tranquility of the moment was interrupted by two large splashes, reminiscent of exploding bombs, as the sea serpents chasing the Polar Tang emerged on the sea surface.
Your gaze followed Law as he walked toward the sea serpents, Kikoku, his katana, in hand. Activating his "Room" ability, he carefully drew the katana from its scabbard. The sunlight cast a glow on his skin-tight black shirt, revealing the flexing muscles on his back as he executed swift, clean attacks on the sea serpents. Each swing of his katana was decisive and precise, the fight seemingly slowing down in your eyes as you focused solely on your formidable captain.
Your admiration for him was undeniable, but the memory of the rejection suddenly crept into your thoughts, causing a frown to mar your expression. Despite the internal turmoil, you couldn't help but be captivated by Law's skill and prowess in battle.
With a series of clean, calculated strikes, Law dismembered the two serpents. As the fight came to an end, the metallic door flung open, and Penguin, Shachi, and Bepo rushed out, their expressions a mix of relief and urgency.
--------
Using the metallic wall for support, you did your best to stand up. Though you managed to rest for a while, your breaths remained deep, and the effort showed on your face. The three Heart Pirates finally noticed you, their surprise evident.
"Why are you here?" Penguin asked, his concern evident.
"Did you also engage with the serpents?!" Shachi followed with worry etched on his face.
"No, she's with me," Law answered, redirecting their attention to him. The trio's eyes followed Law as he walked toward you.
"I found her in the engine room. I didn't have a choice but to bring her up here," Law explained.
Law extended his hand to you, and you glanced from his hand to his face.
"Can you walk?" Law asked, offering his hand to assist you.
You glanced at them and the trio behind Law grinned and stuck their thumbs up in unison, expressing their approval. Your thoughts raced with a mix of amusement and embarrassment. With no other choice, you accepted Law's help. Instead of reaching for his hand, you placed your hands on his right arm and gripped it. As Law guided you, the trio watched the scene unfold with delight.
Before heading back inside the submarine, Law looked back at the three.
"You two, clean those up," Law's stern voice commanded Shachi and Penguin. The two sighed, glancing at the remnants of the fight scene.
"Bepo, come with me," Law directed his attention to Bepo, signaling for him to accompany him.
--------
As you walked down the hallway, Law was busy instructing Bepo about fetching various medical supplies and medicines to bring to your room. Bepo, eager to fulfill the tasks assigned by his captain, nodded and quickly left to gather the items. Now alone, an awkward silence settled between you and Law.
"Don't push yourself too hard," Law finally broke the silence, shifting his head slightly to glance at you. You responded with a simple nod, looking down, your voice barely audible. Thoughts raced through your mind about how things ended up this way, how a week's effort to avoid him seemed to crumble in an instant. You sighed, resigning to the exhaustion that consumed you. At this point, your focus was solely on your well-being.
Upon reaching your room, a sudden growl from your stomach echoed through the hallway, and you felt a tinge of embarrassment. Law sighed; his concern evident. He opened the door and gestured for you to sit at the edge of your bed.
"I'll go grab some snacks," Law stated, leaving his katana on the side of the bed before stepping out.
As soon as he left, you took the opportunity to lie down on the plush mattress. The comfort it provided offered solace from the chaos of the day. Staring up at the ceiling, you couldn't shake off the frown on your face. Puzzled by Law's sudden change in treatment towards you, his evident concern left you wondering about the thoughts racing through his mind.
"I don't want to overthink this," you murmured to yourself. Adjusting your position on the bed, within a few seconds, the weariness overwhelmed you, and you fell into a deep and fast sleep.
Law knocked on your door, holding a tray of light snacks in hand. Not hearing a reply, he entered the room and found you peacefully sleeping. His gaze softened at the sight, and he carefully placed the tray on the table before sitting at the edge of your bed. Law lifted your left hand, placing two fingers on your wrist to check your pulse. Using the back of his left hand, he then gently pressed it against your forehead to gauge your temperature. A nod from him indicated that you seemed to be fine.
The door creaked as Bepo entered the room, carrying the medical supplies. Law hushed him.
"Sorry, Captain," Bepo apologized.
Law inquired about the status of the ship as he started cleaning and tending to the wound on your forehead with ease.
"The ship needs minor repairs, and the supplies are low," Bepo explained.
"Okay. Have the ship docked at the next island," Law's voice was surprisingly calm.
Bepo observed his captain performing first aid, his eyes shifting between the both of you as he awaited further instructions.
"I guess I have to go, Captain," Bepo said with a low voice. Law appeared deep in thought.
As Bepo opened the door, Penguin and Shachi tried to peek inside, stretching their necks.
"How is she?" Shachi inquired.
"She's asleep. Captain is tending to her... but," Bepo began.
"But... what?" Penguin pressed for more information.
"I think that is the first time I saw the captain like a completely different person," Bepo answered, leaving the two curious Heart Pirates outside the door with intrigued expressions.
They were deep in conversation about the recent events when, out of nowhere, Law suddenly swung the door open and addressed the trio with an annoyed expression, his brows furrowing.
"You guys sure got a lot of time talking about me, huh? How about I add more workload to the three of you?" Law's voice was stern, and the surprised expressions on Penguin, Shachi, and Bepo mirrored their sudden realization that their conversation hadn't gone unnoticed.
"It's Penguin's fault!," Shachi quickly pointed his finger at Penguin, deflecting blame.
"What? No, I'm not! It's Bepo!" Penguin retaliated, slapping Bepo's arm with the back of his hand.
The trio engaged in playful banter, trying to shift the blame onto each other. Law, unamused, shook his head at their antics.
As Law walked away from the playful banter of Penguin, Shachi, and Bepo, the door closed behind him, leaving them to settle their dispute among themselves. The hallway returned to a momentary silence, disrupted only by the fading echoes of their friendly quarrel. Inside your room, you continued to rest peacefully, unaware of the amusing chaos that unfolded in the corridor. The submarine sailed toward the next island, carrying the Heart Pirates and their shared adventures beneath the surface of the vast sea.
W/C: 1,492 | Law x y/n , afab!reader, Heart Pirates daily life
A/N: How do you handle rejection? How do you cope? That's the theme of this series. (More interactions with the Heart Pirates crew too!) Please do comment if you want the next chapter. I hope you guys will like this... :3
The gentle rumbling of the submarine's engines filled the Polar Tang's hallway, providing a comforting background noise. The soft lights along the narrow corridor gave a cozy feeling, and at the end of the hall, a big window showed the calm ocean outside.
Law stood by the window; his attention focused on the marine life gracefully gliding through the clear blue water. It was a mesmerizing sight, yet the emotions brewing inside you threatened to cast a shadow over the beauty of the ocean beyond.
Taking a deep breath, you approached Law, your heart pounding with nervous anticipation. The silence in the hallway hung thick, broken only by the subtle creaking of the submarine as it navigated the ocean depths. The air felt heavy with unspoken words.
"Captain," you began, your voice barely above a whisper.
He turned his head, his gaze meeting yours with a calm and collected demeanor.
The sunlight, filtering through the water's surface, painted intricate patterns on the window. The beams of light cascaded like liquid gold, casting a heartfelt glow in the confined space. The scene seemed to echo the complexity of the emotions swelling within your heart.
"I need to tell you something,"
you confessed, your words lingering in the quiet hallway. Law's expression remained unreadable, and a flicker of hesitation passed through your eyes before you continued.
"I... I have feelings for you... I needed to let you know."
Law's stern gaze softened for a moment, but he remained silent.
"I understand if you don't feel the same way," you continued, your eyes dropping to the floor.
"But I couldn't keep it to myself any longer. It's okay if you don't—"
Law gently interrupted, his voice steady and composed,
"I appreciate your honesty, but I cannot reciprocate those feelings."
A heavy silence enveloped the both of you, the words echoing in the confined space. The sunlight outside the window continued its dance, casting both light and shadow on the scene, as if nature itself mirrored the bittersweet revelation.
"Thank you," You uttered politely.
Your eyes met Law's, a subtle acknowledgment of the conversation that had just unfolded. With a dignified nod, you bowed your head, attempting to maintain composure, concealing the devastation that echoed within you.
The hallway of the Polar Tang seemed to narrow as you walked away.
As you retreated to your station, you crossed paths with Shachi and Penguin.
"Ei! <y/n>," Penguin's enthusiastic shout pierced through the solemn atmosphere. Ignoring him, you continued walking, as if the world around you had faded into insignificance. The duo exchanged puzzled glances; their curiosity piqued by your unusual behavior. They decided to follow you, concerned expressions etched on their faces.
Shachi's voice cut through the silence.
"What's wrong? Why the long face?" Shachi questioned, lightly tapping your left shoulder. In an instant, tears welled up in your eyes, and the intense emotions poured out uncontrollably.
"Oi...!" Penguin exclaimed, guiding you to the side of the corridor.
Shachi followed suit, both concerned for your well-being. Your hands covered your face as you wept, and Penguin, ever watchful, scanned the surroundings for any prying eyes. With gentle gestures, they ushered you towards your room.
The three of you arrived at the front of your door.
"May we come in?" Penguin breaking the silence.
You nodded, closing the door behind you. Shachi and Penguin found seats within your room, while you settled on the edge of your bed.
"Tell us what happened," Penguin urged, his concern evident in his voice.
A heavy pause hung in the air before you began to speak.
"Law rejected me," you confessed, your gaze fixed on the floor, your voice barely audible. Shachi and Penguin exchanged surprised glances, struggling to comprehend the unexpected revelation.
“What do you mean you’ve been rejected?” Shachi asked you.
Penguin subtly motioned to Shachi, silently conveying that he would take charge of the situation.
"You're not thinking of leaving the crew, are you?" Penguin's direct inquiry followed.
"No, of course not... but... I don't know," you answered hesitantly. Your response left them concerned for your emotional state.
"Do you want us to talk to him?" Shachi offered; genuine worry etched across his face.
"Please don't!" you pleaded, locking eyes with Shachi, the horror of the prospect evident in your gaze.
"I'll handle this. I'll be fine. Thank you for the concern," you reassured them with a faint smile.
Penguin sighed heavily. "We shall get going then. He might be looking for us now," he added, offering a comforting pat on your back.
"Don't worry. We're not going to tell him that you talked to us. For now, you rest. We'll cover your station in the meantime," Shachi reassured you, a genuine sincerity in his words.
"I'm really sorry for the trouble, but thank you guys," you expressed your gratitude, the weight on your shoulders slightly lifted by their understanding and support.
Penguin and Shachi walked away from your room; the corridor once again enveloped in the subdued lighting of the submarine. Penguin's fingers absentmindedly brushed his chin as he delved into deep contemplation, his analytical mind trying to unravel the complexities of the situation.
"I don't get it," Penguin muttered, a perplexed furrow forming on his brow.
"We always catch Law looking at her, but why would he reject her?"
His voice carried a mix of confusion and frustration, as if trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces. The subtle hum of the submarine's engines seemed to echo the mystery surrounding Law's unexpected decision.
"Ngghhg," Shachi grunted, scratching his head with both of his hands, offering a non-verbal agreement to Penguin's sentiments. His brows furrowed in tandem with his friend's, both lost in thought as they navigated the narrow hallway.
The rhythmic sounds of their footsteps resonated against the metallic walls, a stark contrast to the emotional turmoil that lingered in the air. The enigma of Law's actions hung heavily between them, leaving the duo in a state of silent contemplation. As they continued their stroll through the Polar Tang, the captain's motives were still unclear, and this made them feel uneasy. It kind of spoiled the friendly vibe that had been briefly disrupted by what was revealed in your room.
---
Bepo's casual stroll towards the kitchen was abruptly interrupted by Shachi's shout, causing him to turn around with a surprised expression. Penguin and Shachi, sprinting to catch up, reached Bepo, creating a small gathering in the corridor.
"Bepo!" Shachi called out, urgency in his voice. The trio quickly made their way to the nearest round table, their faces etched with concern. Penguin took the lead in explaining the afternoon's events between you and Law.
"Captain did what?!"
Bepo's eyes widened with disbelief, almost screaming at the revelation. Shachi shot him a stern look, his finger pressed against his lips, signaling for Bepo to keep his voice down.
"That sounds bad," Bepo remarked, reclining in his chair, arms crossed, and a visible frown etched on his face.
"Bepo," Penguin leaned forward, his arms crossed on the table, "did you see Law a while ago?" he inquired.
"Yeah, right before I got here in the kitchen. He went back to his office," Bepo responded.
"Did you notice anything about him?" Shachi questioned.
"Now that you mention it," Bepo paused, taking a sip of his cold water, "he seemed in deep thought."
"No, he's always like that!" Shachi retorted with a hint of frustration.
"But he seemed sad," Bepo added, his observation hanging in the air like an unspoken truth.
Penguin grunted, placing his right hand on his forehead, a gesture of helplessness.
"He's technically got that poker face every day," he added, acknowledging Law's habitual stoicism.
The Polar Tang bore witness to the trio's hushed conversation. The enigma surrounding Law's emotions deepened, their faces cast in shadows that mirrored the uncertainty of the situation.
Penguin's deep voice cut through the quiet atmosphere.
"There's nothing we could do, for now. But let's keep an eye out for the two," he suggested, a tone of helplessness echoing in his words. The weight of the unspoken emotions surrounding Law and your revelation lingered in the air.
"And Bepo..." Penguin's gaze shifted towards the polar bear mink, a sense of seriousness etched on his face.
"Don't spill this conversation to anyone."
Bepo's eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected directive.
"Why only me? And not Shachi?" he questioned, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
"Because you have the tendency to overshare with anyone," Shachi chimed in, a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
"Fiinnnee!" Bepo sighed, reluctantly agreeing to keep the conversation confidential. The camaraderie between the three crewmates added a touch of humor to the otherwise somber atmosphere.
After the conversation concluded, the trio dispersed, each returning to their respective stations. The corridor, once filled with subdued voices, returned to a quiet solitude, leaving the unresolved tension to echo through the metal walls of the submarine.
It's amusing how I only came across this sketch while revisiting the artbook.
Tumblr media
It explores the possible positions of Devil Fruit users taking a dip in a pool to avoid feeling completely weakened by the water.
PLEASE MAKE A SKETCH OUT OF THIS! 😂
A: Aftercare
Aftercare from Law comes outwardly from a medical standpoint, asking if you peed after, telking you to rinse off, getting you water, etc. However, you can tell there’s a deep caring that resides within him, threatening to slip out in intimate moments like these. He’ll always hold you and stroke your hair as you come down from your highs, asking you if you’re feeling okay, if you need anything, telling you how amazing you are, stuff like that. :’)
B: Body part
Law is proud of his chest and arms; he likes showing you how easily he can lift you up. Oh, and he loves his tattoos. As for you, Law is attracted to everything about you, but he especially notices the little things; the way you thighs look when you sit down, how goosebumps spread over your body when he touches you, your beautiful eyes and long lashes, the way you pout your pretty lips, he notices everything, and he’s addicted to all of it.
C: Cum
It's no secret that Law likes to stuff you full of his cum, and he loves seeing it drip out of your spent cunt when he finally pulls out.  but, in order to be safe, he opts for coming on your face or your chest. He loves seeing his seed drip down your face and your pretty tits.
D: Dirty secret
Law has a praise kink. Although it lives deep within him, for once, he wants to be the one who’s being taken care of, for someone to tell him how good he’s doing and how good he feels. Sweet thing. Secretly, he wants to whimper and whine for you, and let you do anything you want to him while you tell him how wonderful he is.
E: Experience
Honestly, I don't see Law being very experienced. He spent the majority of his life focused on a very specific goal that left no room to think about things like sex or relationships. However, I truly believe Law knows what he’s doing when it comes to sex... He's a doctor, after all, and obtains vast knowledge about the human anatomy. He knows what to do and how to do it, he just hasn’t given himself the opportunity to show off his skills ;)
F: Favorite position
Law loves getting as deep inside you as possible, so you’ll often find yourself in a mating press; your legs hanging over his strong shoulders as he forces you into the mattress, admiring how the outline of his cock looks pressing through your stomach.
G: Goofy
No, it’s Law. He takes sex seriously and doesn’t fool around.
H: Hair
Law has dark pubic hair with a happy trail. He keeps it perfectly trimmed for “sanitary reasons.”
I: Intimacy
Law takes sex pretty seriously, and he wants you to feel held by him. Although he’s a man of little words, Law reassures and comforts you; holding your hand, whispering sweet things into your ears as he rearranges your guts. <3
J: Jackoff
Law has a very healthy relationship with masturbation. He views it as simply a desire of human nature. When he can’t have actual sex, he resorts to jacking off. He does it when he needs to, never excessively.
K: Kinks
Surprising to no one, Law is very into bdsm. He wants to see you come undone beneath him while you’re tied up, blindfolded, and at his mercy.
L: Location
Law isn’t a risk-taker. He’ll fuck you in his room, in the shower. Maybe in a secluded closet on the Polar Tang, or something like that.
M: Motivation (turn ons)
Law likes it when you call him captain and tease him with well-timed touches and semi-revealing clothing.
N: No
Although he tries to play it off and act nonchalant, Law is quite possessive. So, absolutely no sharing. You're his and only his. He’ll kill someone if they even look at you.
O: Oral
Giving: My dear friend @bby-deerling and I have concluded that although Law is talented with his fingers, he’s not as gifted with his mouth. Although, he always tries his hardest to make you feel good. He’s getting better, he just needs some guidance on where and how to flick his tongue. Oh, and he likes it. He loves when you grab onto his hair and command him, pressing his face into your cunt and telling him just what to do.
Receiving: Law loves when you dip down beneath his desk to suck him off while he’s working. He relishes in the way your tongue dances over his weeping tip and the way your throat engulfs and squeezes his throbbing shaft. He always tries to keep working, but never can, the feeling is too enticing, too addicting. He doesn’t last long like this.
P: Pace
Law opts for thrusting hard, not necessarily fast, (although, he can do that, too) but he prefers to go slow and hard, obsessed with the way your pretty face contorts in both pain and pleasure with each harsh thrust. He’ll eventually speed up, but the cruelty and intensity of his thrusts never falters.
Q: Quickies
Doesn’t mind them, but they’re definitely not his preferred way of fucking you. He likes to experience eveything everytime you engage in intimacy. However, if you’re on a time crunch, he of course doesn’t mind slipping your panties to the side and pressing you against a wall to have his way with you.
R: Risk
Law is pretty guarded, he definitely doesn’t want to get caught partaking in such an intimate thing. He’d be so embarrassed, poor baby. Like I said before, the riskiest thing he’ll do is fuck you in the bathroom or shower, maybe a very secluded public location if he’s feeling bold.
S: Stamina
Law can last quite awhile, but he’s not superhuman. Two to three rounds is his max until he’s collapsed on top of you, drained of everything within him.
T: Toys
Sure, Law will use toys if you want to, but be prefers making you cum with his body alone. It makes him feel good about himself, and deep down, that’s all he really wants. If he does use toys, I’m thinking something like a vibrating wand to hold on your clit while he rails you.
U: Unfair
Law is a tease. He secretly likes when you're bratty so he give you a taste of your own medicine, only is 10 times worse. He always wants to teach you a lesson.
V: Volume
It’s Law, he’s never very loud. Most often, you’ll hear low groans and deep breaths from Law. But when you’re in charge, don't be surprised if you hear whimpers and whines escape his throat. His face burns red when these lewd noises emit from his mouth, shocked that he can even do that, but he just can’t help it when he’s at your mercy like this.
W: Wild card
Law has a thing for ripping your clothes off. Literally ripping. If you’re wearing tights, expect there to be a hole in the crotch when he’s done with you. Don’t wear your nice panties around him, ‘cause those will be ruined, too. If you complain, he’ll just give you a flat, “I’ll buy you new ones.”
X: X-ray
Oh dear, Law is quite literally the stereotype: tall, thin, emo; he is very well-endowed. I’m thinking 7.5-8 inches, a medium girth, curved upwards with a thick vein on the underside. Pretty tan pinkish tip. Circumcised.
Y: Yearning (sex drive)
Law has a low to medium sex drive. He’s a busy, hardworking man, so sex isn't really ever on the forefront of his mind. But oh my, when he does get horny, it’s intense, so you’d better prepare yourself.
Z: Zzz
Law’s an insomniac, of course, but a good session with you is kind of like his melatonin. However, even when he’s tired from fucking all night long, it still takes him quite a while to fall asleep. He prefers laying naked with you and watching you cuddle up on his chest and drift off to sleep. He’ll always give you a forehead kiss and wish you goodnight, even when you’re already knocked out. <3
Inked secrets
Tumblr media
A/N: Modern School AU. I inscribed his name on my notepad, sparking the creation of another one-shot story.
The classroom windows welcomed the late afternoon sun, allowing its golden rays to cast a warm glow upon the meticulously arranged desks. You sat alone at your desk, basking in the peaceful quiet of the room. You were jotting down notes from the blackboard to your notebook. Your mind, however, was occupied by the thoughts of your crush.
“T r a f a l g a r  L a w”
As you absentmindedly traced the letters of his name on the notebook, a silly smile played on your lips. The doodle was accompanied by a small heart, a secret declaration of your feelings. You leaned your elbow on the desk, resting your cheek on your hand, gazing at the window with a dreamy expression, lost in a blissful daydream.
You were suddenly jolted back to reality when a hand swiftly snatched the notebook from your desk.
Startled, you looked up to see Penguin, a mischievous grin on his face, holding your notebook. Panic and embarrassment flooded your senses as he flipped through the pages, landing on the one with Law's name and your doodle.
"Someone's had a crush on our friend." Penguin teased, raising an eyebrow as he continued to inspect the notebook.
"Give it back!" you exclaimed, your cheeks burning with embarrassment. You jumped to your feet, determination in your eyes, and lunged towards Penguin, who held the notebook just out of your reach.
Penguin, enjoying the situation, held the notebook high, stretching his arm to the maximum. As you attempted to snatch it back, he playfully pushed you away, eliciting a frustrated cry from you.
"Shachi! catch!" Penguin called out, tossing the notebook toward the unsuspecting Shachi who entered the scene. You followed the notebook's trajectory, your eyes widening as Shachi caught it with ease.
"Hey!" you shouted, chasing after Penguin and Shachi as they bolted out of the classroom. The pursuit continued up the stairs, the sound of your footsteps echoing through the corridors.
As the trio reached the rooftop, Law looked up from his peaceful rest on the bench, annoyance etching his usually calm features. The noise from downstairs had disrupted his moment of solitude, and he furrowed his brows at the chaotic scene unfolding before him.
Penguin and Shachi, grinning like school boys caught in mischief, stood at the rooftop's edge, your notebook still in Shachi's hands. You, breathless and determined, arrived at the scene, demanding the return of your precious possession. Law sighed, realizing that the tranquility he sought was now shattered by the whirlwind of emotions and laughter that enveloped the rooftop.
Law's measured steps brought him closer to Penguin and Shachi, a subtle authority emanated from him. His outstretched hand silently demanding the notebook's return. Shachi, understanding the unspoken command, handed over the prized possession to Law. You watched in anticipation as Law took hold of the notebook, his usually composed demeanor hinting at the slightest curiosity.
Penguin and Shachi, sensing the tension, walked past Law and stood behind you. The two exchanged glances, their mischievous grins turning into expectant expressions. Law approached you, his hand signaling for you to take back your notebook. Your hand reached out, eager to reclaim your doodle-filled sanctuary.
However, as your fingers brushed against the pages, Law pulled it away, his wrist folding upward in a surprising move.
"Kidding," Law declared, a hint of amusement in his voice. Your heart skipped a beat at the unexpected twist. He opened the notebook and scanned its contents. Your eyes widening in panic, leaving you frozen and anxious.
The moment felt like an eternity until Law sighed, closing the notebook.
"What's the fuss about this? It's just a bunch of doodles," he remarked, handing the notebook back to you. Relief washed over you, and you took it with a mix of gratitude and confusion.
(Maybe he didn't see it) you thought, trying to calm your racing heart.
Penguin tilted his head, confusion evident on his face. "Huh?"
Law's sharp gaze turned to Penguin and Shachi.
"Stop teasing her, will you? You guys even interrupted my rest," he scolded them, the annoyance returning to his voice.
Then, he focused on you. Your eyes met, and he delivered a stern message,
"A notebook is used for studying and not for anything else."
You frowned at Law's authoritative tone.
"You don't get to decide what I do with it!" you retorted, clutching the notebook to your chest and shooting a defiant look at him.
Turning away from Law, you decided to take matters into your own hands. You punched Penguin and Shachi on their arms, a mix of frustration and playfulness in your actions.
"Ouch!" Penguin yelped, rubbing his arm.
The three of you left the rooftop, chattering animatedly as you descended the stairs. Law stood still, left behind in the quiet solitude of the rooftop.
His right hand formed a fist, and he absentmindedly pressed it lightly against his lips. A subtle smile played on his lips, and his cheeks felt unusually warm, unable to conceal the amusement sparkling in his eyes.
A rare, softer side of him emerged as he recalled your face, the way you stood up for yourself. Without your knowledge, Law had decided to play along and lied about not seeing his name etched in your notebook, accompanied by a heart sign. To him, it was a cute and endearing gesture. He harbored feelings for you, much like you did for him, but he struggled with how to approach you.
With the knowledge of your secret now known to him, Law couldn't help but giggle like a kid. Deeply inhaling, he cleared his throat to bring himself back to his usual stoic demeanor.
"This is bad," Law whispered to himself, his thoughts consumed by you. As he stood alone on the rooftop, a newfound warmth spread within him, and he found himself unable to stop thinking about you.
The rooftop now held a shared secret, a subtle connection between the two of you that had unfolded in the most unexpected way.
to be honest? I don't have the courage to tell my crush that I like him. 😩 I'd rather give subtle hints. I could only admire someone from afar. (it shows in my unrequited love stories. 🥹)
Okay, dearest followers, be honest.
Which one of your fictional crushes do you truly believe that you could pull irl? Realistically. Taking all factors into account. Whether you were in their universe or not, up to you. But be HONEST.
