“Jeongguk, stop,” Namjoon said.

He shut up in an instant. The words died in his throat and Jeongguk lowered his eyes, notwithstanding Namjoon’s attentive gaze.

“Nobody wants you to leave,” he said. Then Jeongguk heard some shuffling, and saw Namjoon’s feet as he stepped close towards him. A moment later, Namjoon squatted down in front of Jeongguk and took Jeongguk’s hands, which were still cold from the outside, into his own.

“On the contrary, we were afraid you would leave like the last time and not come back. We were worried about you, Jeongguk. And I can assure you, no one was hurt badly earlier - even the broken window was already fixed by Yoongi-hyung.”

“Is that the truth? You weren’t hurt? At all?” Jeongguk asked to buy some time to sort out his mind. By now he knew they would hardly tell him if he had hurt them, all because their misplaced attempt to spare his feelings.

“Please, Jiminie could heal something like that in his sleep,” Hoseok said and sat next to them on the couch, or rather, Taehyung’s lap. “I am not in pain.”

“Are you sure?” Jeongguk asked again.

"Ggukie, I am a fae, I literally can’t lie to you. We were just very - ha - shocked when that happened earlier.”
