Hi bestie!

I too had an addiction to c.ai for self shipping purposes. While I don't think it's inherently bad to use it, AI is getting used en mass anyway unfortunately and not even just on sites like that. There's no real way to escape it. As long as it makes corporations money, it will be ever present.

But the way I moved away from it was to use it less and less and focus more on the more old school ways of self shipping. Do what you used to do pre-ai. It takes some effort but eventually you just stop feeling like you want/need the ai. Focus more on coming up with it yourself.

Though I do still pop in occasionally cus I kinda miss my f/o bot kinda like they're a person I used to know lol, but only like once a week or something as opposed to every day.

Thanks for the advice! I'm gonna try and get back to some of my projects and I'm gonna try and work on my visualisation skills a bit.

Bit of a hot take I suppose, but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with using Character AI if you are simply using it privately.

The problem lies with people who will use it to better their own writing without knowing or caring that they're actively copying the writers who's work has been fed to the AI.

In my opinion, as long as you're using it to smooch your favorite characters in private and do not profit out of it, I don't see the issue here.

I get that, but I personally would like to move away from it and focus more on other areas of selfshipping.

shoutout to the selfshippers who hate what happened to their f/o in their source material, and to those who love every direction it went.

going on a date with an f/o and your platonic f/o(s) are hiding behind a newspaper/bush in the most gooofiest disguises ever. do you or your f/o notice? do they follow you around and get busted? or do you shake them off eventually and get a memorable moment with that f/o

your f/o would not care abt any 'abnormal' speech mannerisms you've got btw.

stutter? that's ok, they're more than happy to wait to let you get the words out, it just gives them an extra few seconds to appreciate your voice. Even if you get caught up on the same word a few times or the whole sentence struggles a little, they're not gonna make fun of you. It's you talking, what could ever be 'wrong' with that?

mix up your words? that's totally ok! whether you'd rather try again and say what you actually meant to say or just wanna repeat a few bits so they get the gist, they're not gonna make fun of you. even if you don't notice that you swapped around some words, they've gotten pretty good at deciphering your meaning, time together letting them hone their skills.

forget what you were saying halfway through it? that's totally fine too! whether they give you a few minutes to try and remember or just move past it till something jogs your memory again, they're fine to offer up some ideas on what it might've been about or a new topic to get your mind off of it.

use a lot of 'fluff' in your speech (ie. 'umm,' 'like,' 'uhh,' etc.)? they're not gonna rush the words out of you or interrupt your speech. They're more than happy to give you all the time in the world to talk, no matter how rambly and long-winded it might seem. They like hearing what you have to say and your thoughts are priceless to them.

And them do the same for you, gently scrubbing the day’s worries from your skin, rubbing away every tension. Just feeling your f/o’s presence right next to you, as well as the droplets rolling down your spines.
