Since San Lang literally has dice with teleportation arrays that can take him anywhere he wants, this has to be the first time in 800 years that he's had to actually WALK from point A to point B. Supposedly ghosts are affected by too much sunlight; that doesn't seem like it would get to Hua Cheng with his power level, yet you can't deny our boy looks miserable.

I think he's most upset that this whole trek is happening because SOMEONE doesn't have enough spiritual magic to get them right where they wanna go. He might have even been fine with an extended trip if it was just him and Xie Lian, but those other two had to butt in. No wonder moments after this he's immediately picking a fight to make himself feel better.

Sleeping in Puqi shrine? Easy, gonna win over Xie Lian in no time

heaven official's blessing is so ridiculous sometimes xD

i'm at the mount tonglun part of the story and just can't help imagining it from the state preceptor's point of view:

state preceptor stands inside the mountain, trying to discuss his plans with the mountain spirit. then:

a screaming, banished ex-heavenly official runs past

another heavenly official runs past, in dogged pursuit of the first one

am exiled god and a ghost girl make it rain scorpion-snakes for some reason and they do it so much that snakes get stuck halfway in the moving walls

a bit further away, a currently-male-but-actually-a-woman god is getting dragged around by their robes like a sack of rice, so very much not in control it's not even funny (to them. to us it's very funny)

even further away, a godly general is punching the walls with a makeshift 'weapon' made of a poisoned femur bone, so hard that the bone cracks

and when/if the state preceptor tries to open up a new path, what would he have found? his darling ex-mentee protegé using the "walls are moving" excuse to grind against a ghost king as they make puppy eyes at each other xD

state preceptor: "..."

state preceptor: "that's it! i quit!"

My reaction to TGCF Season 2 Ep 3

*novel spoilers under the cut*

We get Xie Lian going after Lang Ying in the crowd, and I haven’t read the revised version yet, but I’m curious to know how this scene played out since Lang Ying got snapped out of existence by MXTX

Qing Xuan’s reaction is so funny here I can’t. The cartoon fight thing adds on to the scene, and sometimes I forget how funny TGCF can be (if you ignore the really angsty and messed up aspects of it). ALSO RUOYE COMING IN CLUTCH. Do not mess with Xie Lian guys

Their reactions when XL tells them to meet up in 3 days. I love how SQX taps his face with his fan. “I’ll meet you guys up later, gotta go see my boyfriend-uh, I mean, just gotta go see Satan.”

My headcanon of his eye color was light green eyes, since his name (玉 yù) means jade, so that’s what I envisioned his eye color to be. I would’ve been fine with either gray or black eyes, since it added to his canon average looks. But the animators were like “no” and gave him some distinguishing features.

Ok but the hair color threw me off guard at first since he canonically has black hair, right? But it’s ok because I love him.

They’re sleeping next to each other on straw mats and Xie Lian’s offering to cook him dinner and they’re bantering across THE HOME THEY SHARE like a bunch of desperate hussys

San Lang LEAVES XL WITH A KEEPSAKE OF THEIR TIME TOGETHER SLOW BURN WHOMST

They have A DATE in HC’s armoury where they HOLD HANDS and XL pets San Lang’s quivering sword I-

Hua Cheng basically throws himself at this man he’s like you want a sword?? All of them ?? You want ALL THE SWORDS?? Fuck it take the whole room THE WHOLE ROOM JUST COME VISIT I WILL CLEAN THEM FOR YOU

“your highness, i’ve always watched you.” - hua cheng, ch 240

i’ve noticed some ppl minsterpret this quote to mean HC has been watching XL’s every move, like a stalker. however, based on clues from the context + from the original chinese text, that’s not what he actually meant at all. 

i think mxtx deliberately had HC use the ambiguous word “看/watch”, in order to convey multiple meanings:

1) “i’ve always watched you” > “i’ve (literally) watched/seen all of your past, including your worst moments, and i still love you, unconditionally”

2) “i’ve always had my eye/attention on you” (figuratively) > “it’s always been you i’ve been pining after”

3) “i’ve always watched over you” > “i’ve been keeping watch over you from afar all this time, to protect you.”
