Butterfly effect - Chapter one
Warning this is an oc x canon story and the story may be slightly different as canon events.
♤__________________________________♤
Short summary: Yvonne was living her last years at the Sumeru Akademiya, before her Eleazar slowly consumed her body. During this time, she met a rather suspicious scholar, whom her life suddenly took 360°. However the past can't be keep as a secret and the future is just as fragile, as a small piece of glass.
♧___________________________________♧
Yvonne heard some rumors about a certain scholar. People called him mad and a freak, someone who was chased out from his village. - And so she wanted to see him with her own eyes.
Neriah said it’s a bad idea - but it didn’t stop her from it. In fact, she just wanted to do it more. It’s not like she would be afraid - she never was afraid. Death was in the corner of her shadow anyway. However Neriah didn’t know it, and she wished to keep it a secret.
She walked across the Akademiya. Students were talking with each other about their research and some daily things. Some of them greeted the girl and she responded to them greatly - though she hated them all. Everyone was a hypocrite, that was what she learnt during the three years she has been on the Akademiya.
Living in Sumeru as a foreigner wasn’t a cherry on the pie - at least not at the start. Now most of the people love her for her cheerful and kind nature, but this love wasn’t real, it was some kind of darkness that cramped out from their hearts - they just wanted her help, her brain and mind. Yvonne was known as someone who gladly helped out others, who took part in different research fields, though she did it for her own enjoyment and out of boredom, rather than actually for others. When she get bored of it, she left. Others just simply thought that she was too busy. The only research that never bored her was her secret from Khaneri’ah. It was something that fascinated her from a young age and never made her bored through her teenage years. But it was something that was meant to be kept a secret, the Sages wouldn’t be happy if they knew about it - no one would be happy about it. Researching their technology was something forbidden, and scholars feared to search for the forbidden.
Though she always believed that a true scholar needs to take risks and doesn’t fear the forbidden, doesn’t fear to break the rules. After all, everyone has their own dark secrets, don't they? So when she met Zandik, she was highly surprised.
It was just a normal evening on the Akademiya, students were learning and researching in the library as always in these hours. Most of the tables were all occupied, except one, where a single person sat. He had light blue hair, and piercing red eyes that would freak out anyone who looked into them. His expression was cold as he ran through his research papers. Other students were avoiding him, not even daring to go close. There were probably just a few stupid ones that were bold enough to go near the Akademiya’s freak. Yvonne wasn’t stupid, but she was the boldest of all.
As she stopped beside him, it looked like the boy ignored her. She waited some seconds, even a minute if he would look at her, but she felt like a ghost when nothing happened. So she coughed, and those rigid red eyes immediately locked with her warm, purple ones. Silence.
The boy suddenly gathered all of his papers and books as he stood up and started to walk away. The aura between him was everything just not welcoming, but Yvonne didn’t feel like giving up yet.
“Wait!” *she shouted - though not so loudly - after him, however it was pointless. She ran after the boy, following him who knew where he was heading. She didn’t even know that the Akademiya had places like that before, so she was a bit lost and bumped into his back when he suddenly stopped. Though the boy didn’t complain, at least not now.
As she looked at him, she met his red eyes again, that were gazing at her over his shoulder. His face was rather…intriguing as he stared at her, no not at her, rather her soul. He didn’t say a word yet, but Yvonne understood him. She was thinking about maybe she should leave and try her luck next time, but then suddenly he spoke.
“Are you always following people?” His tone was cold, but calm, though she could sense some sort of irritation.
“No.” She said just as calmly as she straightened herself, staring back into his eyes to show that she isn’t afraid of him. And it eventually worked, the boy turned to face her.
“Then…what do you want?” His voice was now much more harsher as he narrowed his eyes. Yvonne thought that he probably ended up bullying before, though she wasn’t sure, he looked scary and most of the scholars loved their life more.
“I just wanted to know you.” She wasn’t really sure why she just spit it out, it was mostly not her tactic, however she felt that it would be the best if she will be honest.
“I don’t have time for these…unimportant things.” It was sure that his opinion was much harsher but he decided to be a bit more gentle.
“Getting know people and making connections is unimportant for you?” She asked with a curiosity in her eyes as she waited for his answer. She saw the annoyance on his face, like he didn’t want to go into details but he sighed then backed off. Probably he understands that she won’t leave him alone until she doesn't talk with him. It was her greatest flaw: being stubborn no matter what.
“It is, when the other person is just a brainless student.”
If someone else would be in her place then they would probably get offended. But all she could do was to smirk about it, even if she wasn’t arrogant like him, she was proud of her own brain and knowledge.
“Try me.” She said challengingly. “Let’s bet. If I can discuss with you three different topics for at least 10 minutes each, then you will surrender and let me know you. But if I lose…then I’ll leave you alone, forever.”
Zandik thought for a second about this, then nodded.
“Sure, let’s do it. But don’t hope that I’ll go easy on you.”
So they started. She was completely into his mercy as he could bring up anything he wanted. But she was confident and didn’t fear anything. After all, she didn’t really have anything to lose. The two topics went completely smoothly, they even talked more than a half hour about the second one, so Zandik felt that he would lose and with a risky thought he threw in something that she wouldn’t even imagine.
He started to talk about Khaneri’ah, though not openly. She stared at him. He probably thought that she didn’t have a slight glimpse of what he was talking about, because she saw a small smirk appear in the corner of his lips. But then it was her time to smirk as she replied to him greatly, with a lot of confidence and knowledge. It was his time to frown.
“Wait. What?” His eyes slightly widened as he stared at her with disbelief. “What did you just say?”
“You heard me right.” She said innocently. “Is it so surprising?”
“Yes!” He said immediately then went silent for a while. They both stared into eachothers eyes, like they would figure out which one of them would be more expert in the subject. She could see that his mind was going crazy. Was it a mistake that he let her know of his interest in ancient civilization? …but they were both in the same shoes, so she wouldn’t dare to tell anyone, right? “Why?” At the end it was the only thing he could ask.
“There is so much reason why!” She said happily, though she didn’t want to tell the actual reasons, at least not yet.
Zandik then didn’t say anything for a while, just stretched the back of his neck. They were standing here in complete silence as she was waiting for him to say anything. Anything more. It looked like he was fighting with his demons inside his mind, who knows what he was thinking about. He then sighed and closed his eyes for a second as he spoke.
“I need to admit that I lost.” His voice was rather quiet and calm, but a hint of irritation was still there. “What do you want to know about me? But I’ll warn you that I won’t talk about anything too personal so don’t even try to ask or else…” he then stopped, what he would do? He can’t just hurt her, a lot of people saw her following him. He groaned.
The girl stayed silent for a while, just watching him with a tiny bit of a smile on her face. Maybe she knew exactly what he was thinking about. “Don’t worry, I didn’t say that I want to know everything right now.”
“What do you mean right now?” Zandik looked at her with a dumbfounded expression, thinking the worst.
“We can’t get to know each other from a few hours of talking.” Her smile turned rather into a mischievous one, that was the moment when the boy knew he got tricked mercilessly.

I just love Dottore too much asbuxidjv
So the girl is one of my Genshin Impact oc, Yvonne. Well their relationship is kind of complicated, I ship them, but they aren't in a relationship. It's more a hate-love story.
