I'm on the Got/HOTD fandom and I haven't watched Saltburn at all but I read your fic because I follow Vesper (her hotd art is simply stunning) and when I saw her fanart inspired by your fic- the one with Felix with a halo on- I had to read it . To put it simply- it's amazing, it's glorious, it's astounding. The way you wrote Felix as a prince and then king, is just so fucking clever like the entitlement is so reminiscent of the Targaryens but he's prideful in the ugly way the Lannisters were and he shares the advantage of being insanely good looking (again, I haven't watched Saltburn but i don't live under a rock and Elordi is gorgeous) with both of them (I wonder which house inspired you the most when writing about house Catton). And Farleigh "the adder of sunspear"? *chefs kiss*

The way you're left wondering at the end of the first chapter if Felix and Oliver are bound by a prophecy or a curse. If Felix is the catalyst of it all or if it is indeed Oliver OR if the tragedy that would befall westeros would be a consequence of their ties to each other. The sense of doom is absolutely delicious and I live for it! And the muzzle! (also amazing art by Vesper! ) how it illustrates perfectly that Oliver is nothing but Felix's. A weapon he can choose to use whenever he wants, dangerous and sharp, and then render him powerless in a mere moment by shutting it close and with it, his pet's ability to hurt but also to defend himself(!)

Also the fact that Oliver doesn't talk and just like a dog, his whole world is his master, his god. (now I get why Vesper painted Felix with a halo and Oliver half naked with a chain on :') ) Their whole relationship is so perverse and beautiful and it's fertile land for some fucked up things that only the GoT universe can offer. By the second chapter I'm left wondering if Felix had other end goals besides having complete control of westeros and if he anticipated and perhaps willfully schemed towards the war that is clearly looming...

I must say you did an amazing job. I'm converted. Vesper's right, this thing should have a thousand chapters lmao

I’ve loved game of thrones since I was literally 10 (my parents didn’t know what it was and let me buy book 1 bc they heard dragons were in it lmfao) so this au came totally from the heart of my oldest hyperfixations.

Now I am going to use this as a moment to infodump :) I am delighted hee hee

Yes! The Cattons were primarily based on the golden, rotten house of Lannister. However, there are some Targaryen influences as well, which you also picked up. House Start is obviously reminiscent of the Sand Snakes, but if I had longer, I would have delved more into their relationship with House Catton. House Start is a baby house, and their primary prowess is directly tied to the riches and the might of House Catton. Forever the sidekick.

The nature of Felix’s relationship with Oliver does have the inklings of something a little higher… and like you said, is it a prophecy or a curse? Will Felix’s children be able to control Ollie or any of HIS children? I’m working on a (not-so) secret chapter three that’s mostly porn (lol) but there will be some plot at the end that I think readers will love.

Honestly, I am halfway to making this an entire OC universe and fucking around with it because I am having SO many thoughts. I’m not sure what I’d do with the plot re. The saltburn universe, but I’m tempted to figure something out just so I can write more of our boys. I haven’t had so much fun with an au in a looooong time!

Thank you! You're so kind for sending this ask but yeah, I'm just trying to cajole everyone to be as obsessed as I am with @follieaun 's fic (and saltburn in general) bc it' s really out of this world. I mean the material could be endless and I have all these images in my head I want to draw bc the fic is THAT good. The images that my brain conjures up whilst reading it are just so vivid and I'm going through some awful things in my life rn and this is an unbelievably good distraction. I wish it was a 300k word novel that I could carry to the grave, like it altered my brain chemstry the same way @justalilguyoops 's WIPIP did (the artworks mentioned in that fic!!!) I just want everyone to read it🥲🤧

Ollie rises onto two legs and leans into Roose’s throat, pressing the end of his silver muzzle into the side of his jaw. It’s a pretty thing, at least in Felix’s opinion— a shiny contraption fitted with two rows of iron teeth, each of them long enough to puncture a man’s windpipe. Two leather straps keep it securely against his beast’s face. Felix had it uniquely fashioned for Ollie, shaped after the mouth of the direwolf that raised him. It opens and closes with the movement of Ollie’s jaws and even comes with a locking mechanism that, when triggered, keeps both his metal jaws and his real ones from opening. Very handy.
