the paving stones shimmering in the dark thanks to neglect there are lots of cracks from which on a damp dark night more than 400 worms come into sight they stretch out far profoundly angular I tiptoe around and have to take great care not only to not step on cracks but nowhere near in fact #thewormturns #showrca2017 runs until 2 July #earthworms #environmental #fineart (at Royal College of Art Battersea)

Quote
Close your eyes, prick your ears, and from the softest sound to the wildest noise, from the simplest tone to the highest harmony, from the most violent, passionate scream to the gentlest words of sweet reason, it is by Nature who speaks, revealing her being, her power, her life, and her relatedness so that a blind person, to whom the infinitely visible world is denied, can grasp an infinite vitality in what can be heard.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Worms can crawl upwards, especially if enticed by some delicious algae! #earthworms

Check out the size of this worm! Though I think it is a 'barrel' effect caused by his retreating into a tight burrow!

Today I've been battling with this worm (and others) in an attempt to ID it alive via macro photography (rather than killing and inspecting it under a microscope. It didn't appreciate my sentiment and In protest it threw mud all over the clean area of my studio! ID wise I am none the wiser as they are referred to as wriggly worms for a reason! But I have learnt that I might be better off with my big zoom sports lens! Enough for today though or I shall have nightmares! These ones are about to be released back into the wild (my concrete container garden)! Live happily worms and eat lots! (at St Mellitus Church, Tollington Park Road)

FIDDLING WHILE EARTH BURNS
An exhibition by the Climate Action Collective composed of artists from across the RCA. This exhibition is aimed at raising awareness of the forthcoming COP21 in Paris this December, where world leaders will meet to discuss and impose legal frameworks for restricting the rise in greenhouse gas emissions. Current trends indicate that the world鈥檚 temperature could increase as much as 4.8掳C over the next 80 years, which would result in global food shortages and rising sea levels with an ever increasing world population - indicating more concrete plans are needed to avoid world disaster.
In response to this summit, this exhibition鈥檚 title reflects the often piecemeal promises made by governments around the world to deal with greenhouse gas emissions. Drawing inspiration from the photomontage style of Peter Kennard, the exhibition includes various designs for protest placards to be used during the Climate Change protest in London on 29/11/15. In addition, it also includes video, photography, lithographic and sound artworks which aim to address the broader implications of Climate Change on this generation. In doing so, the Climate Action Collective hope to crew a greater public consciousness of COP21, in turn adding pressure on world leaders to resolve some of these pressing issues.
