the reason i like it so much is hancock is pretty explicitly a parallel to nami so they have a lot in common but are on different ends of the spectrum so theyd have a pretty compelling character dynamic i also just like boa hancock
whoever came up with boa hancock / nami i love you and i might write a fic for that

the fact oda married a nami cosplayer is I think the most crucial infomation to analyzing namis portrayal.

honestly if we were to go into it as a collective the level of psychoanalysis you can do to oda based on his work alone that isnt even unwarranted.
hes definitely into femdom (most obvious observation in the world)
he has a thing about implying or arguably making explicit that characters are bisexual consistently
hes horny about transgender people. (both trans men and women) i've seen no references to this fact despite the overwhelming evidence. he also definitely has a gender tf kink. (i don't know whether to categorize this as fetishization and I've been chewing on it for a year)
he married a nami cosplayer which makes explicit the thing we all know is true which is that oda is extremely attracted to nami. and can i blame him. can anybody.
he might have a foot fetish. (see: demon robins feet in black maria fight and the fact nobody ever wears socks in one piece. for example sanji is consistently drawn with no socks despite him wearing a suit)

i also forgot to mention that another reason i think she's intended to be bisexual is a lot of characters in one piece are intended to be bisexual. this is a commonality.
(usopp. sanji. franky. ill make an argument for zoro as well)
its brought up a lot in the text and the more other characters have arguable concrete queer coding the more unlikely i am to believe oda thinks nami is straight.
nami and queer coding is actually an interesting topic, because "queer coding" (literal definition. not watered down definition) requires the authorial intent to be the character to be read as queer. And I think there's an argument to be made for Nami being authorial intended to be read as queer.
(her relationships with women and her relationship towards men while not A Queer Experience concretely is one people can relate to who are queer)
I've personally thought she's intended to be read as bisexual (despite saying maybe to the khalifa joke being indicative of how her character is supposed to be read I'm personally a believer.) for one main reason which is fetishization (of wlw relationships for the male audience, khalifa fight) while still remaining available to the presumably male audience. (oda very obviously is attracted to nami himself so when i think about authorial intent I think about what would be more tantalizing to oda, a cishet man.)
but i don't think her relationships with women are framed under that lense a lot and it's obvious to me that the narrative around namis relationships towards women and men is supposed to be a feminist narrative first and foremost. so admittedly debate or focus on her sexuality is missing the point.

re: homoerotic framing in the khalifa nami fight. i dont think the homoeroticism in that fight should be uncritically thought of because it's obviously a a homoerotic fight to titillate the straight male audience and within itself to the characters is not homoerotic, i don't think either khalifa or nami are framed to think about this in a homoerotic way.
(nami maybe? she does have 1 joke famously to the extent of finding khalifa attractive but i moreso think it's supposed to be a tongue and cheek reference to what the audience is supposed to be thinking "like an old man" is probably referring to oda himself)
i would actually go as far as to say it's an example of wlw fetishization pretty obviously. nami and khalifa are sexist at eachother or at least frame it like they are being sexist at eachother within the dialogue (typical "catty" female action hero writing) which shows a committed disinterest in protraying actual wlw during the scene, (they arent actually flirting or anything, again, typical female action hero and villain dialogue), instead using the homoerotic framing as only that, a way to frame the scene.
i'm not saying you can't enjoy it etc. or that you can't interpret to your hearts content but i think the authorial intent here is ignored and needs to be criticized because it's gross (I enjoy this fight even for its homoeroticism, but when uncritically consumed it poses a few problems)
