Mindful Money
Does thinking about money stress you out? Does the concept of ‘having it all’ seem more like a taunt than an aspiration? Do you want to make your money work for you, rather than the other way around? Has the Covid lockdown forced you to reconsider how you live your life and awakened a desire to develop a better work-life balance?  Mindful Money is about building good spending habits and a…

In a noisy, busy, bustling world where there is consistent demand on your time, energy and money, finding time to slow down and be mindful with money or be at peace with yourself can be challenging. Finding a moment of genuine happiness even more so. However, ask anyone who takes time to sit quietly with a coffee or read a book, and they will immediately tell you how good it feels to take a…

Wisdom teeth for the not so wise
Wisdom teeth for the not so wise
Years ago, ok, fine decades ago, in my early 20’s my wisdom teeth decided to make an entrance. These teeth, as it turned out, liked attention and to put on a show.  They were too big for my jaw and liked to let my face know about it. Regularly my gums were swollen, red and hot, making me uncomfortable and fretting. I spoke less and adjusted how I ate.  I put their intrusion down to growing…

Get healthier and wealthier with little extra effort
Get healthier and wealthier with little extra effort
The most expensive thing you can do when it comes to food is have it end up in the bin. So what’s the point in all that effort to grow, transport and store it if it’s just destined to end up in the rubbish, right?  You work hard to earn the income that comes into your home. Whether you are the CEO or breadwinner of the house, it’s up to you to get that money working as hard for you as you do for…

I can’t afford to save, let alone pay myself first.
I can’t afford to save, let alone pay myself first.
Can’t afford to save? We all want to build a beautiful life; who wouldn’t? We all want money to draw on when things get tough, or to buy that home for your family or to invest. Yet, so many of us struggle to get our heads around it.  If you have been inconsistent or less than successful at putting money aside, this may be the post for you.  Because the simple truth here is that you can’t afford…

A good morning routine leads to good money habits.
A good morning routine leads to good money habits.
We’ve all heard of the power of morning routines. Whether you realise it or not, you already have one.  Your morning routine might be to stay in bed as long as possible, knocking the snooze button until the very last moment. Then stumbling through the necessary to get you out the door and on your way. Alternatively, maybe it’s rising early with the sun and meditating. For most of us, our morning…

Our internal thermostat is a powerful thing. It keeps us in a set range, a range of our own ( often unconscious) choosing. Unconsciously, I have sabotaged myself so often, across all aspects of my life and still do to this day. ( I'll do it more times in the future too, I'm slow at change) But here's the things... One of the things I've noticed is that life has a way of eroding our thermostat's "set points." We can start to settle for lower floors and lower ceilings. Relationships and jobs can chip away at our sense of self-worth. We settle for less, but it creates a pattern that costs us big time over our life. So re-set your thermostat and deal with the temporary discomforts. It will raise the quality of your life. As a wise mentor of mine once said to me in one of my many periods of self-doubt... Someone will do it... so why not you? I'm going to throw that right back out at you... Whatever it is that you truly want most in the world, that thing that you bury deep down because you are afraid that it is simply too big and that you are not worth it... Well, my words to you are these ... why not you? #wealth #internal #power #yourpower #irishdebtfreecommunity #smartmoney #irishmom #irishiger #irishmoms #irishmam #irishmammy #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #debtisdumb #debtfree #debtfreegoals #debtfreeliving #debt #debtfreelife #debtpayoff #raisethebar #mindfulmoney #savingmoney #savings #savingmoneytips #savingsgoals #savingstips #savingmoneyisfun #moneysavingtips (at Ireland (country)) https://www.instagram.com/p/COctjYlnj-V/?igshid=14g6ay8yh7r40

I’ve been doing much soul searching recently, trying to figure what the next step in my path will be. ➕ The last few years have unfolded in a way that I would never have imagined, and part of me dares not to think about what is in store for the future. ➕ Yet a bigger part of me is more excited for our future than ever before. ➕ I truly believe that we are on the cusp of change where we find the balance between living now and taking care of our future. ➕ I believe that once we realise how much power we have within, stop underestimating ourselves and find the courage to put on our own life jackets first. ➕ That's when we will truly find the difference each one of us can make to build the best life possible for not only us but our loved ones too. ➕ I have @frugal_mama_ireland to thank for this post as her stories last week about worrying about if the neighbours thought she was poor. The reality is that she is rocking it! Really resonated with me. ➕ I've been in her position and I think many in the #irishdebtfreecommunity do from time to time. ➕ Great things start with small changes, the hardest part is getting started and gaining that initial momentum. ➕ I hash the Irish Dream out a little more in my latest blog post - check out the link in my bio or find it in your inbox if you are on my emailing list ( also found in the link in my bio where you can pick up your free No Spend Day tracker. ➕ What's your Irish Dream for your future? Let me know below. 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞 #success #motivation #entrepreneur #wealth #inspiration #goals #lifestyle #grind #successful #finance #mindset #love #motivational #financialfreedom #retirement #motivated #savingmoney #moneysaving #momlife #frugallife #budgeting (at Ireland (country)) https://www.instagram.com/p/COKrQc_HRLS/?igshid=ywkykzae7ufq

Solar panels everything you need to know Part 2
Solar panels everything you need to know Part 2
Sustainability is close to my heart, and I try to embrace where I can. It’s not an exact science, nor do I always get it right, but Solar panels, from my perspective, is definitely one of the best sustainable money-saving moves I’ve made in a long time.  This is the second of two posts on the subject. Part 1 outlines the practicalities of using solar in the home, how it can be customised, time…

Solar Panels, everything you need to know. Part 1
Solar Panels, everything you need to know. Part 1
We had Solar panels installed recently, and I can safely say it was one of the best financial and sustainable moves we’ve made in a long time.  What is Solar PV? Let’s start with the basics. There are two types of solar energy technology: Solar Photovoltaics (PV) and solar thermal. Solar PV is the rooftop solar you see on homes – it produces electricity from solar energy directly.  Solar…

What is Financial Independence Retire Early?
What is Financial Independence Retire Early?
Guest Post by Dave Goggins Before I discover financial independence. I was tired of working all week and having very little to show for my hard work. I anxiously waited for my next salary payment to come around. Like many of my peers, I’d built up student and consumer debt from university when I lived in the UK. Managing all my outgoings and paying for things as they cropped up was…

Get a Reluctant Partner on board with Budgeting (Part 2)
Get a Reluctant Partner on board with Budgeting (Part 2)
Getting the buy-in from a reluctant partner when it comes to money is a game-changer. This post is part two. If you haven’t checked it out already, part one is here.  Money and emotions are profoundly intertwined. So deep as to be considered inexplicably linked. Experiences and inherited constructs around money can vary wildly. We are all amalgamation of not just our experiences but what we were…
