@moonwatermicrofics prompt May 19, Date
Words- 262, Rating - G
“If neither of us are married in ten years… we could marry each other.”
Regulus looked away from the moonless, starry sky to scowl at Remus, trying to make sense of what he had just said, “Are you… proposing… that if in a decade, we’re still single, we should get married?”
“Yeah,” Remus said, looking over at him, seeing his face, then looking down, “Er, well,” he shrugged, “It’s something I’ve heard of people doing. You know. Reassurance you won’t always be alone.”
This had to be some ridiculous muggle thing. The suggestion burned in his gut. The idea that they could be married one day, but only if Remus first spent a decade trying and failing to find someone better. No. Fuck that. Regulus would be no one’s backup plan.
“Remus John Lupin,” Regulus said sharply, “If you want to marry me, you have to ask me on a date first.”
“I– what?” Remus asked, looking at him, absolutely baffled, “You’d want to? Now? With me?”
Regulus sat up straight, crossed his arms, and raised one imperial eyebrow at him, waiting for a proper goddamned date. Remus stared at him, eyes wide, looking very much like a deer in the headlights. Even without legilimency, Regulus could practically watch thoughts flying over his face.
“Regulus,” Remus said very slowly, as if feeling out for whether this was a trap, and Regulus felt his heart flutter in his chest. “Do you want to go out with me?”
“I was starting to think you’d never ask,” Regulus admitted, a smile curling over his face.

may 15: astronomy - 329 words - @moonwatermicrofics
“Ready to go?” Regulus asks him as soon as he turns the corner to the empty corridor where Regulus told him to meet up. He is wearing pyjama bottoms and one of Remus’ sweaters. Though the days are starting to warm up, it is still quite cold at night. Remus thinks he looks adorable.
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?” Remus asks as he approaches Regulus. Neither of them is really the adventurous type, so when Regulus told him he had plans for them tonight to sneak out after curfew Remus was a bit surprised. Throughout the day his curiosity has been growing. He really wants to know.
“No,” answers Regulus smiling as he promptly starts walking out in front of him, gesturing for Remus to follow him, leading the way through the long hallways of the castle. Remus doesn’t know where they’re going or what Regulus wants to show him, only that he is really excited to do so. Only one way to find out.
As they climb the narrow stairs it is clear now where Regulus is leading him. They arrive at the top of the stairs of the astronomy tower, Regulus takes his hand and pulls him to the railing, so they can look outside. Then finally he speaks up about what they’re doing here, “Look,” he points at the night sky, at the Moon. “It’s us.”
First Remus doesn’t know what he should notice, it’s a half moon tonight, he knows this already. Then, paying attention to the stars, connecting them in his head, he sees it, the Leo constellation, the heart of the lion. Regulus and the Moon, looking like they’re only centimetres apart from their point of view on Earth.
He lets go of Regulus’ hand and puts his arm around him, hand resting on his hip, pulling him closer. He kisses the side of his boyfriend's face, who is still looking ahead at the sky.
“It’s us,” he repeats.

@moonwatermicrofics May 10, Prompt Friends
Continuation of ‘Moon’ & Secret - Part 1, Part 2
When Dumbledore showed up at the Lupins offering a place to Remus, with assurances that they could handle his lycanthropy, it had been more than Remus had ever dreamed of. His father had made it clear how vital it was that he keep his condition a secret, and warned him to keep to himself. Remus had already spent his childhood away from children and had never made friends, it didn’t seem that difficult to continue.
Once at school, he had been cautious and paranoid and kept to himself. He’d been sorted into Gryffindor after some deliberation from the Sorting Hat, who ended up deciding that Gryffindor was the safest for a werewolf. (Slytherin had been right out, Ravenclaw would figure it out too quickly, Hufflepuff was a strong contender but Remus had too much of a mischievous streak for the hat to put him there) Which landed him in a dormitory with other boys his age. A first.
It seemed like one of them, Sirius, was getting suspicious of him by the third full moon, but there wasn’t much Remus could do about that. It wasn’t like he could just stop disappearing every time the moon was full.
Of course his worst fears were confirmed when Sirius started bullying him, escalating to the point that Remus was packing his bags to go home while Lily begged him to ignore the prat.
That had turned into Sirius admitting that, yes, he’d guessed Remus was a werewolf and had been purposefully antagonizing him.
Which somehow turned into Sirius befriending Remus and becoming a fierce defender, taking on the role of guard dog. This might have been funny, the irony of a werewolf needing a guard dog, but it still left him shaken.
What he didn’t expect of Sirius befriending him was that Sirius would notice Remus’s shadow. Because the shadow of wixen took on the silhouette of their soulmate, Remus’s father had taught him a spell to hide that and make his shadow his own. At their age, enough people were androgynous that it wasn’t terribly obvious if your shadow wasn’t someone else, but Sirius apparently was now paying enough attention to peg this.
“Your shadow… I just realized, it’s you,” Sirius noted after a flying lesson which Remus found particularly harrowing thanks to the Slytherins pestering him.
“Oh. Ehm. Yeh. Maybe werewolves don’t have soulmates,” Remus replied with a shrug, since Sirius had enough discretion to wait until they were alone to pester Remus about this.
“No, they do. They definitely do,” Sirius said with considerably too much conviction, which he seemed to realize because he hesitated and backpedaled, “Some do. Probably.”
“…Do… you know someone whose soulmate is a werewolf?” Remus asked, baffled. It was the first he’d heard of it, but he didn’t exactly know anyone. Sirius merely shrugged, scuffing the toe of his oxfords against the stone floor. Remus swallowed thickly and stared at the wall, “Would– would they be able to tell? Before they’ve met?”
“I mean… It’s kinda obvious, innit?” Sirius said, scratching his cheek, “The shadow turns into a wolf every month.”
Remus felt the blood draining from his face, horrified to know that whatever poor soul fate had saddled him with was already aware of his condition.

@moonwatermicrofics | may 9th | secret | 638 words | no content warnings | back again with domestic bliss (didn’t go down the hogwarts route, but this idea was screaming at me to be written) <3
“Morning, love,” a sleepy voice comes from behind.
Remus turns over his shoulder. Before him is a yawning Regulus, rubbing one eye with the heel of his palm. His curls poke out at odd ends, which is only more endearing when Regulus sneezes, sending the curls bouncing along the shell of his ears.
“Hi, baby,” Remus greets with a warm smile, leaning back against the counter.
Surrounding them is a low hum of music coming from a speaker perched on the counter. It’s been the soundtrack to Remus’ morning, busying himself in the kitchen to prepare something sweet for Regulus when he wakes.
Regulus pads over towards the cabinets, feet adorned with blue socks that have little cats all over. The state of Regulus in the morning is something Remus will never get used to—even after all these years. It doesn’t matter that they’ve been together for five, married for two. Still, to this day, it makes Remus’ heart skip a beat when he falls witness to Regulus’ early morning grogginess.
It’s irresistible really, Remus making his way over towards Regulus who is now pushed up onto his toes to grab a mug from the top shelf. One of Remus’ arms wraps around Regulus’ waist, palm laying flat against Regulus’ belly. With his other arm, he reaches up, procuring the mug that just barely grazed Regulus’ fingers.
“Should’ve put the mugs on a lower shelf,” Regulus huffs, settling back against Remus’ firm frame.
Remus chuckles breathlessly, nosing at Regulus’ curls. “I’ll redo it later, darling. Don’t you worry.”
The mug is left forgotten, the melodious tune taking over. It’s Remus that begins, slowly swaying their joined bodies back and forth. With each pass, Regulus softens even more in his arms.
“Tell me all your secrets, ‘til the sun comes up,” Remus croons into Regulus’ ear, causing the other man to turn around in his arms.
“You made me banana bread?” Regulus asks, a look of pure adoration on his face as he wraps his arms around Remus’ neck.
“How did you—” Remus furrows his brow.
“I can smell it, idiot,” Regulus states fondly, a smile creeping onto his mouth.
Remus unwraps his arms from Regulus’ waist, bringing his hands up to cup Regulus’s face. With his head tilted up, it’s like his lips are practically begging to be kissed. And how is Remus supposed to deny the person he loves most when the request is so simple.
Their lips meet, almost hesitantly. Much like Remus feels when he sees Regulus for the first time in the morning, he will never grow tired of kissing Regulus. Frankly, there’s a laundry list of things Remus will never get tired of when it comes to Regulus. From his heavy-lidded eyes as they lay next to each other before bed to the multitude of expressions that pass over his face as he flips through the pages of his newest read, devouring each word while curled up with the kitten on the window bench overlooking the garden.
When they do break apart, Regulus looks as though he’s in a state of pure bliss. His lashes are fluttering, brushing the tops of his cheekbones as he blinks. His cheeks are painted the most gorgeous shade of pink, delicate and soft, just like the man himself. His lips are parted, soft breath passing with each exhale. Regulus strokes his hand down the back of Remus’ neck, trailing his fingertips along tanned skin until he reaches Remus’ face. With the utmost care and tenderness, he traces over the scar across Remus’ face. A shiver runs down his spine—delicious and warm.
“I love you,” Regulus whispers, blinking slowly up at Remus.
And God—those words have never sounded sweeter.
“I love you, too,” Remus responds, dipping down to press another kiss to Regulus’ lips, just a peck. “Forever.”

@moonwatermicrofics May 9, Prompt: Secret Words- 1,101, Rating- G
Continuation of ‘Moon’- see Part 1
Thanks to his brother’s shadow, Sirius had become particularly attuned with the lunar cycle. Every full moon, Regulus had to come up with an excuse to avoid everyone for the 12 hours between moonrise and moonset - which Sirius helped him to do. They wrote letters to each other that were vague and heavily veiled in codes they’d come up with because they knew their mother read them. Regulus was slightly panicked about having to hide this on his own, but Sirius did his best to soothe him and reassure him that everything would be fine. It wasn’t long until Regulus started Hogwarts as well, and then he could just hide in his bed on those nights.
The first full moon of term, Remus got sick. That sucked.
The second full moon of term, Remus’s mother apparently got so sick that Remus had to visit home. That was suspicious.
The third full moon of term, Remus was once again missing. Sirius was almost certain something was up and he knew what it was.
At that point, Remus was still keeping to himself. He seemed to avoid making friends as if it were distasteful. He’d study with the Ravenclaws sometimes, but when Sirius crashed those sessions - Remus really was just studying and avoided getting to know anyone better.
In another lifetime, maybe Sirius would have been understanding. Maybe he would have talked to James to decide how to handle the situation. But in this lifetime, Sirius’s little brother was tied by fate to a werewolf - and Sirius had spent seven years worrying about what kind of life he would have. The books were awful.
Now he has a real live werewolf, and the boy was standoffish and a loner and Sirius needed to find out if he was violent to know if Regulus might be in danger.
He started pestering Remus, and goading the Slytherins into starting things with him. (That wasn't difficult.) Remus responded by becoming more withdrawn and also sticking close to Lily Evans, a bright muggleborn girl who punched Sirius in the nose when Sirius tried sneering at Remus for needing a girl to protect him.
James was frustrated, telling Sirius to knock it off, but Sirius needed to see what werewolves were like. His brother's life was on the line.
He kept pushing, trying to get a rise or reaction, and finally he did. He knocked ink all over the nearly finished, 3 foot potions essay that Remus had been struggling with all week. Remus had stood up, shaking, leveled Sirius with a look of pure venom–
And run off. Lily was close behind, cursing Sirius as she went. Peter and Marlene, another girl in their year, did their best to fix the damage and try to reveal the essay. James smacked Sirius upside the head, glared at him and said, “Apologize for being a bloody prick!”
Sirius stood there, staring at the wreckage, shocked that Remus still hadn't so much as said a single unkind word to him. Until James shoved him and bellowed to go already.
He flinched. It seemed he'd been able to get everyone but Remus angry at him.
Sirius sullenly went up to the dormitory, mentally preparing himself to hear Remus and Lily cursing his name. What he heard made him feel worse. Remus was crying, insisting that he'd made a mistake by going to school and he needed to quit and for Lily to please stop and give him back his books he had to go home.
Sirius pushed the door open to see Remus attempting to repack his trunk while Lily kept unpacking it, pleading with him not to let one stupid prick ruin his life. Sirius flinched at that.
“Ehm?” he cleared his throat awkwardly, “I- er- wanted to apologize?”
“Piss off, Black, you've been a nightmare to Remus for weeks and he hasn't done anything so just shove off,” Lily snapped, scowling at him.
“It doesn't matter,” Remus grumbled, using the distraction to grab his things off Lily and shove them into his trunk.
“I- I don't want you to leave,” Sirius said weakly, “I was… I was just trying to make you mad…”
“Well, you did. You made me mad and angry and frustrated and you kept going and now I'm not dealing with it anymore and da didn't even want me here because of- because of my health,” Remus insisted, and Sirius realized what he meant and that Remus had almost missed out on Hogwarts because of his lycanthropy and now he was giving up and it was all Sirius’s fault.
“Please can we talk?” Sirius asked, fidgeting with his rings.
Lily glared at him and Remus sighed and shrugged, “Go ahead.”
“Alone?”
Lily smacked her shoulder into his as she left. Remus sat down on his trunk, “I haven't done anything to you.”
“No… you haven't…  even when I deserved it…” Sirius agreed, sitting down on his own bed.
“Then why?” Remus asked weakly.
“Because. Erm. Blimey, this sounds so stupid now,” he said, wincing, “Because- ehm- well- I- er- I wanted to see what you were like when you were angry, because I'm pretty sure you're a werewolf.”
Remus looked at him, horrified, his tan face had gone pale and then his expression fell and he shook his head, “Please don't tell anyone. I'm leaving- I won't- I won't cause any trouble.”
“What? No… no no no… you can't leave!” Sirius insisted, feeling incredibly guilty. He rushed over and grabbed Remus’s hands, looking at him earnestly, “I was a jerk. I'm sorry. Please don't leave. Not because of me.”
“You know what I am,” Remus croaked, wiping his face, “I never should have tried coming here, it's not safe.”
“But– but you haven't hurt anyone, have you?” Sirius asked, frowning, and Remus shook his head miserably.
“It doesn't matter. I'm a monster. I should have known better. If anyone else finds out…” he shook his head again, curling in on himself.
Sirius felt his mouth go dry. For all his worrying about what sort of life Regulus might have with a werewolf for a soulmate, he'd never once stopped to think what life was like for a werewolf. Now he'd met one who was quiet and polite and studious he'd nearly driven him away because Remus didn't want to hurt anyone. Sirius could only hope that Regulus’s soulmate was at least half as gentle as Remus.
“No one else will find out,” Sirius said firmly, squeezing Remus’s hands, “I'll help you keep this secret. I promise.”
Remus gave him a baffled look. Which, yeah, he deserved.

@moonwatermicrofics | may 8th | fire | 327 words | no content warnings | ahhh dipping into something new v excited, exploring softness <3
Soft crackles permeate Gryffindor’s common room. It’s late, well past the clock striking midnight, and the last place Regulus expected to be was curled up and the sturdy arm of Remus Lupin on a garish red, velvet couch.
“It’s late, love. You’re not even supposed to be here right now,” Remus murmurs, pressing a soft kiss to the crown of Regulus’ head.
Regulus hums, sleepy eyes trained on the flickering flames inside the fireplace. Beside him, Remus chuckles softly, his fingertips grazing over the curve of Regulus’ shoulder.
“Love, come on now,” Remus sighs dreamily which only makes Regulus curl himself closer to the man, “can’t afford you getting in trouble trying to get you back to your own dorm.”
“Don’t care,” Regulus huffs, nudging his nose against Remus’ chest. “Want to stay here. With you.”
“So you want to face Sirius in the morning, hm?” Remus asks softly.
Regulus groans, digging his fingers into Remus’ thigh. That’s the last thing he wants to think about right now, especially when he’s practically purring like a kitten from the warmth Remus is admitting from his body. It’s too comfortable and completely unfair that he’s practically being forced to move from this position.
“Tomorrow, okay? We can go out and read by the lake,” Remus offers, his lips ghosting over Regulus’ forehead.
Regulus inhales deeply, squeezing Remus’ thigh once more. Quietly, he agrees, “Okay. Tomorrow.”
Even though it’s difficult, Regulus manages to extract himself from Remus’ cozy embrace. He takes one last look at the blazing fire, a small smile on his mouth. When he turns to say his goodbyes to Remus, Remus blows him a kiss, offering up a small wave that has Regulus turning pink in the cheeks.
“Sleep well, my love. I’ll see you soon,” Remus promises, a dopey grin on his mouth.
“Goodnight, mon cœur,” Regulus whispers, ducking his head shyly before dipping out of the Gryffindor common room, cheeks hurting from smiling so hard.

Blue Jeans
@moonwatermicrofics May 6 (clothes), 234 words, G
--
The pants are made of a strange blue fabric, stiffer than cotton or silk. Regulus fights the urge to squirm and fidget with his legs encased in such an unfamiliar material. He pulls the sweater over his head, tugging it into place and carefully adjusting the sleeves before casting his usual spell, the one to prevent the fabric that covers his left wrist from slipping.
He glances at the mirror. The man staring back at him doesn’t look like a wizard, but Regulus isn’t sure whether he passes for a Muggle.
“I didn’t even take Muggle Studies,” he mutters.
He had never thought he would need it.
“Lucky for you, I did,” says Remus with a smile, stepping up behind him and patting his shoulder. He’s dressed the same, in blue pants and a sweater, though they look as familiar on him as they do out-of-place on Regulus.
“I feel ridiculous.”
“You look great. Ready to go?”
Fear catches in Regulus’s throat. He turns away from the mirror to look Remus in the eye.
“Are you sure this is a good idea? If he finds out I’m still alive…”
“It’s a Muggle restaurant,” says Remus. “It’s not like we’re going to Hogsmeade. We’ll blend right in, and no one will have a clue who we are.”
Regulus still isn’t sure, but he trusts Remus.
“Alright,” he says. “I can’t believe I’m doing this, but alright.”

@moonwatermicrofics May 6, Prompt: Clothes
Words- 182, Rating- T
The first time Regulus put on one of Remus’s jumpers, he hadn't been thinking much about it. It was a cool day, Remus’s jumpers were soft. It had been washed so it didn't even really smell like him.
He pulled on the pumpkin orange jumper, smiled at the way it covered his hands so only his fingers poked out, and padded out to the kitchen.
Remus was already there, reading a book at the island counter with two mugs of tea under a stasis charm for when Regulus got up.
“Morning, love,” he said the way he always did, then looked over and went very still, “That’s my jumper.”
“I didn't think you'd mind,” Regulus said, frowning at him, because it really wasn't the sort of thing he expected Remus to get upset over.
Remus placed his book down and stood up, pulling Regulus close and began mouthing at his neck and under the collar of his jumper and reducing Regulus to a puddle of incoherent moans.
The next time Regulus put on one of Remus’s jumpers, it was very, very intentional.

@moonwatermicrofics May 4, Prompt: Animagus
Words: 637, Rating: M
When Regulus had befriended the local werewolf, he never would have imagined that he'd have the chance to spend the full moon with him. But, of course, Regulus’s reckless and clever brother had figured out that becoming an animagus would allow you to spend the full moons with him safely.
It had taken years before Remus trusted Regulus enough to share that secret, and Regulus had immediately dedicated himself to becoming an animagus as well. His form, a panther, was well suited. Just larger than the wolf, he could safely play and keep Moony out of trouble.
One thing he had not expected was the difference in how the wolf interacted with him. Remus was reserved and conscientious. Moony was affectionate and physical, and seemed to have a particular fondness for the panther's throat.
At first this had been slightly worrisome, but it was quickly obvious that even when Moony put his teeth on the panther's throat, there was no malice intended. But he spent a great deal of the night nuzzling and licking it and Regulus could not help but wonder if Remus had similar desires.
They'd been dancing around each other, or so Regulus hoped, for as long as they'd been friends.
Regulus decided to test this theory with a soft, taupe jumper that looked very much like one Remus owned. He stretched the neck of it out even more, positioning it so it left one side of his neck and nearly all of his shoulder fully exposed, milky skin.  His short curls didn't hide it, and he ruffled them a little, making them that little bit more wild that he was pretty sure Remus responded to.
That afternoon, Remus came over to Regulus’s to hang out, which was something that happened quite frequently. As soon as Regulus opened the door, Remus’s breath hitched and his eyes fixated on the exposed skin, but he immediately tried to cover that up and looked away.
“See something you like?” Regulus purred, pulling the door open and letting him step inside.
“I– I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, I'm sorry,” Remus deflected as he stepped inside and toed his shoes off, which was not a ‘no’.
Regulus smirked and leaned towards him, “I never said you made me uncomfortable. I asked if you saw something you like.”
“I– Reg– What are you doing?” Remus asked, his voice slightly strangled.
“Because I think you want to put your lips here,” he brushed his fingers from his jaw and along his shoulder and Remus initially followed the motion, then caught himself and looked away, “and I want you to.”
“You do?” Remus asked, eyeing him warily.
Regulus bit his lip and nodded, “Mhm.”
“Fuck,” Remus hissed, crossing the short distance to nuzzle into the crook of Regulus’s neck, placing open mouth kisses and gentle nips.
“Hnnngh, yes, fuck. Mark me, Remmy,” Regulus encouraged, shivering at the thought of bruises blooming under Remus’s lips.
Remus growled, his teeth running along the sensitive skin of Regulus’s throat, “Really? You want me to leave marks? Claim you? Want everyone to know you're mine?”
“O-oh, fuck, yes, Remus, I want to be yours.”
“Yeah?” Remus asked, his voice going soft. He placed one last gentle kiss on Regulus’s neck then pulled back to look him in the eyes, “ Do you want to be my boyfriend?”
Regulus looked up at Remus through his lashes, feeling suddenly shy despite his earlier display, “You want me to be?”
“Yeah,” Remus said with a warm smile, “I really do.” “Good. Boyfriends, then,” Regulus said, placing his hands on Remus’s stubble rough cheeks and kissing him. Remus wrapped his arms around Regulus and deepened the kiss, pressing into his mouth hungrily. Regulus pulled back with a grin, “Now bite my fucking neck and fuck me into the mattress.”

Moonlight on the Water
@moonwatermicrofics May 3 (water), 130 words, T
--
They sit on the end of the pier, legs dangling, pants rolled up to the knee.
Scars snake cross Remus’s legs. Claw marks. The crescent moon reflects off the water, morphing into a new shape with every ripple.
Fear sits uneasily in Regulus’s chest as the water laps against his feet, too deep and dark to see what lurks beneath the surface. At any moment, he can’t help thinking, a too-cold hand could emerge, grasping his ankle, dragging him under.
But the monsters that haunt them won’t find them here. No Inferi, no full moon. Instead, they sit together in the warmth of a summer breeze, content with each other’s company. The night sky above and the depths below whisper of lingering nightmares, but in this moment, there is peace.

@moonwatermicrofics May 2, Prompt: Moon
Words: 183, Rating: G
Regulus Arcturus Black stayed alone on the nights of the full moon.
He had done this for almost as long as he could remember.
In a world where your soulmate shared your shadow, Regulus supposed he got off somewhat lucky. His soulmate also had curly hair that was kept short. The curls were tighter, but it wasn't obvious unless you were paying attention.
Not like Sirius, whose soulmate had short, messy hair that made their mother's nose wrinkle in distaste every time she saw it.
Except for the full moons. When Regulus’s shadow became the silhouette of a wolf.
Sirius was the only person who knew this. That first night, when Sirius was 5 and Regulus was 3, Sirius and Regulus had been playing alone when it happened. Regulus’s shadow changed. It began to transform into something inhuman.
“Maman can't know,” Sirius had whispered, horrified. Maman was angry enough about a soulmate with messy hair. What would she say to a wolf?
“You won't tell?” Regulus asked, eyes wide, terrified.
Sirius crossed his heart with his finger, “I solemnly swear not to tell.”

No one was supposed to find him. Seriously who would come on the fucking roof of the school? They would be crazy. Regulus is maybe crazy.
Still, the Slytherin could hear the soft grunt behind him. Ready to snap at the intruder until the stormy gray eyes meet the sweet whiskey ones now facing him.
“ Lupin? What are you doing here?” Some seconds of silence passed before he tried to explain himself.
“ Was wanting to breathe some good air?” Not convinced he still let it pass, only turning his head to look back at the horizon.
Lupin was not the most annoying person who could have found him anyway, so he supposed it was ok. Or maybe his heart was unconsciously speaking louder than his mind.
“ Can I sit?” The other’s voice was so soft and low it made him shiver but he kept his gaze afar, not wanting to show any useless emotions.
“ Why not?” The black haired boy hear some noise next to him and quickly Lupin appeared in his peripheral vision.
The silence was strangely comfortable, as if both of them just needed to breathe and think about something else than their problems. Maybe it was that in fact.
The sun was slowly disappearing in the horizon, the sky taking orange, red and yellow colors in a sweet view making Regulus’ heart warm a bit.
“ Want some?” He turned his head looking at the Gryffindor next to him with a questioning look before seeing the different kind of chocolate in his hands. “ I don't know which one you prefer so just take it if you want, I would be happy with anything.”
“ I never had chocolate before, I don't know which one I like.” The whiskey eyes widened comically as Lupin’s jaw slowly fell open.
“ You- you never had chocolate?!” The shock in his voice was painfully funny and the other boy fighted himself to not smile.
“ No?” With a big movement of hand, the brown haired boy moved the different kind of chocolate trying to find himself which one would be the best to be the Black’s heir’s first chocolate.
“ Ok try this!” Unsure, the taller boy took the piece of chocolate from the big and warm hand before taking a bite and slowly tasted it.
And wow… Why has he never tried this before? It was so good that Regulus felt himself almost melt because of the taste. Quickly he composed himself before speaking again.
“ What is that one?” A big smile cracked on Lupin’s face as he started to explain what all the different chocolates were, making the other taste all of them.
Finally it was not a bad thing if he was as crazy as him.

Prompt: First
@moonwatermicrofics
May 1st, 267 words, no TWs apply
Remus’ head throbs as he walks through the crowded library, attempting to find an open seat. The end of the year was always packed with students cramming for their exams, but it was the only place he could go to get away from the other Gryffindors for a bit.
Turning around an aisle of shelves, he finally spots an empty seat and sighs in relief, making his way towards it. It isn’t until he gets closer that he notices the other person occupying it, the harsh glare on their face keeping the other students at a distance.
Freezing, Remus warily observes the younger student, recalling all of the things Sirius had told him about his younger brother. While there was a chance that Regulus wasn’t all that bad, there also was the chance he would get hexed for even approaching the other boy.
Gathering up the courage that marked him for the house of the lions, he walks up to the table and gently sets his books down. Regulus glances up at him, eyebrows furrowing.
“Mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is full,” Remus calmly asks, trying to not let his nervousness show as he talks to the other for the first time. Regulus merely tilts his head in acceptance before going back to his book.
Inwardly, Remus cheers and lets his racing heart settle, before taking a seat and pulling out his potions essay. The two work in a peaceful silence, something Remus rarely got to experience with the others. He finds himself enjoying it, wondering if Regulus would let him sit here again tomorrow.

Remus had started it. With his secondhand books that were scuffed up and well loved before they touched his fingers, he had no difficulty writing all over them, marking them. Underlining, circling, starring, jotting notes on the sides.
Regulus had grown up getting his knuckles bruised for turning the pages wrong on priceless tomes. Ancient books, many one of a kind. Every book in the Black home was expensive and, in his parents’ eyes, worth considerably more than their child's comfort.
There was no space for Regulus’s thoughts in the Black library.
The first time that Regulus borrowed a book from Remus, he had been horrified. It had been marked to pieces, wrecked, defiled, graffitied, dog eared. His hands ached and he winced at the thought of what his mother would have done to him for such acts.
This thoroughly distracted him from the sheer audacity of Regulus Arcturus Black reading a book by a muggle author, and he had cast ink erasure spells on the entire thing in an attempt to ‘save' the book. Only to find out that muggle printing presses couldn't stand up to spells, and Regulus had to sheepishly explain why Remus’s copy of The Hobbit was now blank.
Remus handled it with amused kindness, the way he handled most things, and explained why he wrote in the books and that he didn't consider them ruined. Then he handed Regulus a copy of Frankenstein and a muggle pen, encouraging Regulus to try it.
The sight of Remus’s marks still filled Regulus with a sharp anxiety, but he did his best to ignore them and focus on the words.
A few dozen pages in, the panic settled and he was able to start appreciating it. He'd linger on the passages that Remus felt worth circling, then start considering the notes he added. He could hear them in Remus’s voice, soft and smooth, could imagine the way he'd rub his finger over his lip thoughtfully while he murmured to himself.
The first time Regulus Black intentionally marked a book was in response to one of Remus’s notes. The man had noted a dry ‘idiot’ at some of Victor's missteps, and Regulus had made a little check mark to show his agreement. It was a silly little motion, something that might have been unnoticed, except the ink was different. The pen Remus had given him was blue.
The flash of color showed up brightly on the black and white page. Remus’s words were the same color as the text, like they belonged there. Regulus’s mark stood out.
Panic filled him again- was this a test? Was he fucking it up? A lifetime of punishments for unknown transgressions reared up.
It was Remus, though. Who had been more patient than Regulus deserved and never seemed to get angry.
He chewed his lip. It was probably no big deal. Remus had said it was okay. Regulus could buy him a new book if it wasn't.
It had been an accident, that Remus had given Regulus a blue pen.
Remus didn't use them, but sometimes the store only had mixed packs of the cheap ballpoints and he'd end up with blue pens in his bag and had gotten in the habit of, whenever someone borrowed a pen, he handed them a blue one he didn't want.
If he'd been paying more attention, maybe he would have made sure to give Regulus a black one– but he was too amused by rifling through the pristinely blank pages that had once detailed Bilbo's adventures as a burglar while the pureblood had explained that he had panicked when he saw it was written in and didn't realize that spell erased muggle text.
Which was a very good thing. Because when Remus rifled through Frankenstein, curious, he found that the blue stood out. He could instantly tell which pages had been written on. From the first, hesitant little check more than halfway through, growing slowly more bold, until the final chapter was awash with azure marks, Regulus’s response to the emotional climax of the tragedy.
Remus smiled to himself, and made sure to always hand Regulus a blue pen when the man borrowed his books.

Rules and FAQ
1. What can be in my microfic?
Whatever you like, as long as it's tagged properly (don't want to accidentally harm anyone) and moonwater is the central focus of it. As this blog is dedicated to them (whether it's romantic or platonic or anything else), the fic should be about them. Having other characters in it too is okay, just make sure you have Remus and Regulus.
2. How do I format my post?
So, first things first, you'll want to tag this blog, so that we'll be able to find your fic and reblog it. After that, just make sure you have the prompt that inspired the post, the date, and the word count! After that, just make sure to include any trigger warnings, and then you're good to go.
Please keep in mind, while NSFW content is allowed, make sure to properly mark it as either that or Explicit, so people can scroll past if that isn't their cup of tea. If you're posting something NSFW, please be 18 or older. While we obviously can't monitor that, it's safest for everyone, so just make sure you follow it.
3. How long can my microfic be?
The goal is to keep it concise, but there is no minimum or maximum word count!! That being said, your fic must be a standalone and completed (meaning do not just cut a singular scene from an already existing fic and use that for the microfic). If you wish to add onto it using another prompt, make to tag the other fic as well, so people are aware it's part of a collection.
4. Why haven't you reblogged my post?
The most likely answer is that we just haven't seen it yet, as we aren't online 24/7. If we still haven't reblogged it after a day, feel free to shoot us a message!! We may have not been notified, or it may have broken the rules in some way. In either case, we would be happy to respond to you and update you on the situation.
5. Do I have to follow the prompt?
Not exactly! The point of them is to help inspire you, but they can be followed pretty broadly.
6. Closing statement
Overall, just make sure to have fun and keep things positive. Hate will not be tolerated on this account. Remember that you don't have to write for every prompt, and make sure to take care of yourselves. If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message!!
