Dick's relationship with school is so nuanced and I fear people like to shave it down to he hated it and refused to go. And listen they throw out random fake flashbacks about made up moments in Dick's childhood. But golden and silver age Dick's actual school career was just boring. Dick was an honor roll student an expert chemist before anyone had thought of the name Barrence Allen. When they thought he was failing Bruce banned him from patrol and Dick fell asleep studying (Bruce carried him to bed cute!) before it was revealed it was actually that other Richard Grayson who was failing Dick's a genius. Dick somehow managed to be on the track team in high school he had a trophy. When Bruce was sick and Dick and Babs conspired to keep him at home Bruce was like "but who will go to your parent teacher conference?" which is irrelevant to my point I just thought that was really funny.

Everyone cried when Dick went to college. Bruce moved out of the manor and into the city. And sure Dick failed out of college but he was kidnapped out of his dorm room biweekly. And Bruce was really uncool about the whole thing and essentially harassed Dick into going to Gotham College before Dick quit that too and decided full time heroing was for him. School was just There for Dick. He did it and did it well but he had no particularly strong feelings about it. His aversion to college came from Bruce being on his back about it all the time. Like when you're going to do a chore and then someone tells you to so you back out and refuse that was Dick with college.

I will say that, as someone who takes care of an 8 year old, it is pretty hilarious to think about Dick fighting crime so young. Like there's just packs of animal crackers in the batmobile because Dick will get hungry during the middle of a case. And god forbid Bruce forgets to pack a water bottle for Dick because then he'll just hear a litany of, "I'm thirsty, I need water." I mean, I know Dick is usually depicted as more mature/responsible than your average kid, but it's so funny to think about Bruce and Alfred having to deal with some of those typical kid needs and behaviors.

i think about Batman/Nightwing: Bloodborne like. all the time. if you know me there's nothing i quite like more than a blood motif, pair that with the horrors of the body (not to be mistaken with Body Horror) and/or disease and sickness... nothing is more human than what kills us. love is what destroys.

there's a lot about this comic that's so fucking insane. just to name a few:

bruce buying flowers for the graysons every year to place on their graves and not telling dick about it until he finds out on his own because bruce is dying and misses the date. dick looking through ice and snow and empty wastelands for bruce's heartbeat and draping himself over the man when he realises he's alive. bruce telling dick to leave him and escape when they're attacked. dick stopping at nothing to save bruce because abandoning him isn't even an option.

but the thing that really tops all of this immediately is when dick injects himself with a experimental vaccine for the virus bruce is about to die from, and then doing a blood transfusion in hopes of sharing some of the resistant viral antibodies — fully well knowing that there's no guarantee that it will work. bruce might still die. now dick might die first. but, well, this could save bruce and —

and that was always the goal.

We probably already all know that famous monologue of Bruce talking about Dick right? The one where he says that it’s Batman that should be more like Nightwing? Yeah I think we all know that Nightwing is what Batman should’ve been (not could’ve, because the same thing that differentiates them is the same thing that makes Batman, well, Batman) but I don’t think we talk enough about how Dick Grayson is what Bruce Wayne could’ve been.

Hi! I'm wondering where the concept of dick Grayson/Nightwing being a serial cheater comes from? This is a take I see on AO3/other parts of Tumblr and I'm confused because I don't actually remember him cheating on anyone in the comics??? This was inspired by a post I saw here on Tumblr that said they wouldn't date Dick because he was a serial cheater that made me go "Huh"?

Rather than serial cheater, I'd say some people in the fandom view him more as a womanizer thanks to writing by Dixon, Grayson, Jones, Wolfman (which is extremely ironic actually), Andreyko, Ridley, Seeley, and Sheridan. They either show or imply that Dick has one night stands, has dated a lot of women, goes through women quickly, or has relations with Kory and Babs simultaneously.

The cheating in question is sourced from Nightwing (Vol. 2) Annual #2. In this issue, Andreyko wrote that Dick had sex with Babs while he was engaged to Kory. Dick even gave Babs an engagement announcement letter the next morning which was just insane. Many Nightwing fans despise this issue and claim it as OOC. However, it still exists and impacted Babs and Kory negatively, so some people do still hold Dick accountable for his actions in it despite the OOC behavior.

Previously, Dick was written as someone who was very committed to the person he was dating. He even stated that he couldn't have sex with someone that he didn't love.
