FINAL PLEA: FLUFFY STILL NEEDS OUT!!
In Baltimore County, MD: Small Dog Seeking Rescue
If you can foster Fluffy and save his sweet life, we can contact local rescues to ask for help, please email [email protected]
Baltimore County Animal Services is seeking placement with a 501c3 rescue group for Fluffy. Fluffy is 6 years old and was surrendered to us after biting the owner when removing his harness. Fluffy has shown to be fearful in the shelter and avoidant of touch, though he will approach people to solicit attention-he likes to be talked to and will offer soft, low tail wags. Due to his bite history and fearful behavior in the shelter, Fluffy is only available to a rescue group. Fluffy has been avoidant of other dogs while in the shelter, and his previous owner said he did not do well with them. If you are interested in pulling Fluffy, or have any questions, please let us know!

If you can foster Isle and help save her sweet life, we can contact local rescues to ask for help, please email [email protected]
Baltimore County Animal Services is urgently seeking 501c3 rescue placement for Isle. Isle came to us as a stray so her background information is unknown. Isle is understandably unhappy in the shelter setting, and has shown barrier reactivity in her kennel. However, outside of her kennel, she has shown she can warm up to people, especially if a ball is being used; though she has shown some resource guarding with food. Due to her behaviors, we believe it’s in Isle’s best interest to only be available to a rescue partner at this time. If you are interested in pulling Isle, or have any questions, please let us know!

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Weight: 80 pounds

Behavior Concerns: barrier reactive, resource guarding, stranger danger (behavior notes attached)

In Baltimore City, MD: 14 y/o, sugar-faced sweetheart senior lady is seeking a soft, cozy spot to land for the rest of her days - BARCS, Baltimore MD
- Senior in Need -
Cola- 14 years, altered female, 45lbs
14-year-old Cola found herself in need of a new home when her previous owners had to move and couldn't take her along. But don't let her age fool you – Cola has plenty of love left to give and lots of life left to live!
Cola is a seasoned pro and is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows her basic commands like a champ. Plus, she's a social butterfly who absolutely adores attention! According to her former owner, Cola's absolute favorite thing in the world is her cozy blanket- it's her go-to comfort item, and she loves snuggling up with it whenever she can. She also enjoys leisurely walks and spending quality time with her human friends. Cola would thrive in a calm and loving household where she can soak up all the attention she deserves. While she may be a bit older, she's still got plenty of pep in her step and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal and affectionate friend.
Perfect Cola has shown us that she prefers the humans over other dog pals, so would like to be the only dog in her future home! That way, she doesn't have to share your love.
Upon examination, our vets noted that other than several dermal masses and overgrown nails, Cola appears generally pretty healthy for her age. Fatty acids and joint supplements would be recommended, and a full medical summary can be provided upon request.
No senior should spend their days in a shelter, and sweet Cola here is of course no exception.
Cola is available immediately for rescue pick-up.
Please let us know if your organization can help!
Thank you,
The BARCS Rescue Team

In Baltimore City, MD: 2-month-old Mastiff mix puppy is seeking rescue placement after everything he's been through - BARCS, Baltimore MD
RESCUE WOULD LOVE TO PULL/SAVE THIS BABY, BUT NEEDS A FOSTER NOW!!
If you can foster Moon Pie and save his sweet life, we can contact local rescues to ask for help, please email [email protected]
Moon Pie- 2 months, unaltered male, 27lbs
2-month-old super cutie, Moon Pie, was surrendered to Animal Control and brought to our shelter because his owner could no longer care for him. Reportedly, he had been having bloody stool for several days.
Upon examination, our vets noted that Moon Pie was dehydrated, lethargic, had a low rectal temperature, and x-rays revealed an extremely dilated stomach, which appeared pushed back to the l3 vertebrae. Two parvo tests were negative, so Moon Pie was transferred to a partnering emergency vet hospital for IV fluids and repeat rads.
No foreign body was found in Moon Pie's stomach like initially assumed, but the "bowel appeared to be tangled in omentum", according to hospital records; fortunately, he is already back at our shelter and feeling better. A bilateral cherry eye repair is now recommended and a full medical summary can be provided upon request.
Despite everything he's been through and dealt with these past several days, Moon Pie is incredibly resilient and so, so sweet. He greets everyone he meets with a little nub wag and can't wait to be doted on and loved.
Moon Pie is available immediately for rescue pick-up. Please let us know if your organization can help!

In Baltimore City, MD: Nervous boy who has interacted well with other gentle and easygoing dogs is seeking rescue - BARCS, Baltimore MD
If you can foster Guinness and save his sweet life, we can contact local rescues to ask for help, please email [email protected]
Guinness- 3 years, unaltered male, 67lbs
Guinness is pretty new here at the shelter, so we’re still getting to know him. What we've learned so far is that he's a big sniffer -nose to the ground the entire walk - and loves exploring the trails! Although initially quite nervous, Guinness has also warmed up to other dogs that are gentle, tolerant, and easygoing like himself.
According to Animal Control officers, Guinness did attempt to bite while on a leash and when being picked up, so since he has arrived in our care, we have made a point to take things slow with him, which has worked well, even for his intake exam.
On a formal behavior evaluation, Guinness was hesitant, but easy to leash and unleash with the help of treats. He is flinchy when touched suddenly, but did eventually lean into full body pets and continued to solicit further petting from the handler. He also approached strangers to investigate and take treats gently.
Guinness is available immediately for rescue pick-up.
Please let us know if your organization can help!
Thank you,

In Baltimore City, MD: 14 y/o severely matted but incredibly cooperative and tolerant senior is seeking rescue! - BARCS, Baltimore MD
If you can foster Montego and save his sweet life, we can contact local rescues to ask for help, please email [email protected]
Montego- 14 years, altered male, 21lbs
14-year-old Montego was fortunately picked up by Animal Control and brought to BARCS due to violations- clearly, it's been a long time since he's had proper care and we cannot imagine how painful and uncomfortable he is, and for how long he's been suffering like this.
Upon examination, our vets noted that Montego has severe periodontal disease, mature cataracts, a grade 1-2/6 heart murmur, and appears underweight. He is also severely matted, so much so over his left eye that it is not currently visible. We're hoping to get him into surgery for a sedated shave. A full medical summary can be provided upon request.
Poor Montego has been through so much, and has been so cooperative and tolerant with staff even still. He will be available for rescue pick-up after 4/28, and due to his age and multiple medical concerns, we are hoping to find placement for him ASAP.
Please let us know if your organization can help!

In Baltimore City, MD: Handsome-as-ever 1 y/o playful and energetic would really benefit with rescue placement! - BARCS, Baltimore MD
If you can foster Hawthorn and save his sweet life, we can contact local rescues to ask for help, please email [email protected]
Hawthorn- 1 year, altered male, 57lbs
1 y/o Hawthorn was surrendered to our partnering Animal Control and then brought to our shelter. He loves to go for walks outside and is quite alert to his surroundings, though frantic at times and aloof with the handler. Back inside, he approaches strangers to sniff, greet, and accept pets, and even leaned in for full body pets from multiple different people.
When tested off-leash in the shelter's play yard, Hawthorn was a bit avoidant of other dogs at first, but eventually warmed up for some brief and polite playful moments.
Understandably, Hawthorn was overwhelmed when he first arrived in our care and was quite jumpy and mouthy during his intake exam, but cooperated well with treats. When a vet tech attempted to take his leash off in his kennel after the exam, he growled, barred teeth, and snapped at their hand.
Hawthorn is available immediately for rescue pick-up.

If you can foster Whimsy and save his sweet life, we can contact local rescues to ask for help, please email [email protected]
- Rescue Needed -
Whimsy- 10 years, unaltered male, 13lbs
10-year-old Whimsy was brought to the shelter after being picked up by Animal Control. He was dangerously running in and out of traffic, but fortunately a Good Samaritan was able to get him out of harm's way, not without getting bit by Whimsy though.
Since arriving in our care, Whimsy has been overall fearful but cooperative as long as people go slow with him. He has been easy to leash and unleash, walks well, and doesn't seem to mind being pet or picked up after being given a few moments to warm up first.
Upon examination, our vets noted that Whimsy has significant periodontal disease, a grade 3/6 systolic murmur, eye abnormalities, a subcutaneous mass on his shoulder, and is underweight and matted, especially under her belly. A full medical summary can be provided upon request.
Whimsy is on a mandatory, precautionary bite quarantine until 5/3/24, after which he will be available for rescue pick-up.
