What do you see?
I am a day dreamer and am always looking at the clouds and seeing funny shapes that inspire silly stories in my mind.  Today one of my friends sent me some photos of their corn field and I could not get past this photo.  All I could see is what looks like dorsal fins of sharks circling in dark and mysterious waters.  What do you think?

Going shopping-what was old is new again!
Exploring new shops and finding great treasures is a love of mine (my husband would call it an addiction but I think he’s exaggerating!   I found out about The Junkery in Denison, IA through some friends and had to go!
To make sure I do not become a hoarder I always make sure what I’m about to buy is something that will serve a purpose in my home and not just a “want”.  I almost always carry a measuring tape to make sure the items will fit into my space, if you forgot yours just ask the store clerk!
I just so happen to come across some fabulous items at The Junkery and cannot wait to re-purpose them!  Now to complete my projects…that is for another time

In the Garden with Katie - Picking Parsnips!
This is our first year growing parsnips and I was excited at how well they did.  My son is just about ready to start eating solids so I’ll be roasting and then blending the parsnips up for him to try!
I was so excited to get into the garden yesterday!  Even though it rained earlier in the day I was able to harvest some veggies! The Android version to Pocket Rain Gauge is here!  It was so easy to pull up the app and see how much rain the garden had received!  Here is the aftermath of pulling out the parsnips!  (Side note, my daughter’s spade came in very handy when plucking out these parsnips!)

How to Care for Your Basil Plant
Sweet basil is new to me as I just recently realized I’m in love with caprese salads, caprese skewers, and fresh basil as a garnish on my lasagna I wanted try growing some of my own.  I keep mine right outside my front door so I can I grab it anytime I want, and the smell, the wonderful aroma alone is just wonderful!
I had no idea I was supposed to pinch the flowers off until my mother-in-law walked by my plant and saw my plant starting to flower and let me in on the secret to growing basil.  (What, don’t tell me you knew already?!)  So, take it from me pinch off the flowers so your basil continues to grow more leaves so you have plenty of fresh basil to use in your recipes.

Weight Watchers Approved Pumpkin Mousse
Tumblr media
Weight Watchers is an awesome diet for those who love sweets like myself because it allows you to still enjoy the sweets you love in moderation. I can speak from experience,  I followed the WW diet a few years ago along with a friend who was trying to lose weight. I wanted to lose weight as well and be there to support her. I wanted to be there for her to have someone to complain to when she felt weak. I wanted her to have someone to text or call the minute she wanted to eat something bad so I could talk her out of it. She was there to do the same for me. Dieting is so hard in itself, let alone doing it by yourself. I know, I have been there done it alone with no support. I have struggles with weight problems my whole life. I didn’t want her to have to go through it alone. I wanted to be there for her. Through this dedicated friendship, motivation and support she lost over 40 lbs and I lost 20lbs. Losing weight is always so hard to do but with a support group you can do it. I love nothing more than being there for someone and helping them through the hard times. In the end seeing results of their weight loss along with your own is so rewarding. I love seeing others succeed!
If you are on a diet and and are looking for the perfect sweet treat, I hope you try this recipe out and love it as much as I do!  Please share with us below or in the Coffee Talk Chat area if you tried this recipe and what you think of it, and also be sure to include and variations, tips, or things you enjoy as well.

The Joy of using Pocket Rain Gauge on my iPhone
It appears more and more people rarely enjoy what they do for a living.  It is more often that people are just going through the motions and collecting a paycheck, which is really sad. I can truly say after 33 years I fully enjoy my job. I have passion and dedication for what I do.  I find so much joy in my job. Everyday is a new adventure and I am excited to get up every morning to see what the day has in store for me. I have the opportunity to use my God given qualities which is awesome.
With that being said when I started Agrible,  I feel in love with the Pocket Rain Gauge (PRG) the minute I downloaded it. It soon became a game my husband and I played every time it rained. By game I mean comparing the PRG with a few others rain gauges we have. We have one rain gauge next to our front door and another one out on a stump by the corn field (see picture). We compare to Grower’s Edge. Bless my husband's heart for going out every morning after a rain event and checking all of them for me. He records the data for me so I can input it into a spreadsheet I have. I give the data to the Agrible Science team to continue our accuracy. I love nothing move than incorporating my family into my job.
Agrible has added so much job into my life in the past few months. Now I have the pleasure of doing what I love most, writing. I hope you enjoy reading my blog post!
- Staci
