Art is a way of freezing time, or extending time. … It’s another way to bridge the gaps between us

So Much So
I lay with my face planted on the ground.
I lay, face first, in the garden.
After three days of crying,
My chest or heart or both - ached.
So much so, that when I pressed it against the cold surface of the green ground,
It expanded and I released a sigh of relief.
The earth solid, embraced me.
My full weight collapsed
Into the arms of the earth
and as I inhaled and exhaled, I felt the hole in my heart get smaller.
The energy of the earth filling all the pain in that empty centre,
The crater, so often cold and void of nothing,
Filled with something solid and supporting,
And for a little while
Everything didn’t hurt so much.
