So, I am in my infant stages of streaming games and it has taken a lot of time setting everything up and saving money to purchase stuff. I have about 211 followers on my new Facebook streaming page (facebook.com/mkstreams) whereas 203 were from organic traffic such as, “hey friends, help me become fb popular” and 8 from paid traffic.

I heard a theory that the man Jesus calls in this verse responds, “Let me first bury my father,” not because his father had recently died, but because he wanted to either A) be there for his father in case he died, or B) be sure to collect his inheritance the second the old man croaked.

Either way, this theory supposes that the man’s father isn’t dead or even on his deathbed.  In this interpretation, Jesus’s strange reply of, “Let the dead bury their dead,” is really more of, “Let the spiritually dead bury their dead,” and He’s telling the man that he shouldn’t let earthly anxieties (like worrying his dad will die without him there) or greed (like waiting for his inheritance) stop him from seeking spiritual life while he can.

I’m not sure if this “living father” theory is the canonical interpretation, or if we’re supposed to take it at face value and just believe the man wanted to bury his dead father.  Both are possible, and both carry the same message, at the end of the day: don’t make excuses to avoid spiritual growth.

So, because it’s such a deep verse, and because it could be read either way, this comic seamlessly merges the two interpretations with a gag about the man’s father being alive, but also being buried!  HA!
