Dram was a lovely town. Roman mentioned how it was a shame they had to come in the winter, when the summer had the Mermaid Festival, which was a highlight of the culture in Eboron. The royal family always attended, since the time of King Benjamin. 

As you left the train station to head for the harbor, you stopped to admire the enormous statue in the town square. There, in the center, stood a stone Captain Behati. Tall and proud and armed to the teeth. She appeared every bit as fierce as you read about, and yet, on her face there was a smile. You inadvertently smiled back. 

“Come on, Y/N, we don’t have time to sight see,” Joe insisted, taking your arm. 

You sighed, but didn’t fight him. After what Roman told you about the rescue, you’d resigned to be less combative with Joe. There had to be some good in him. 

The harbor was large, with all kinds of ships docked. Roman went to purchase tickets, so you and Joe waited away from the line. 

“Are you sure we don’t need to go with him?” you asked, watching Roman walk away. “Won’t we need to show our papers?”

Joe shook his head. “No, travel is a lot freer here. Before the Revolution, all you needed was a ticket to travel among the continent. Now, it’s only like that between Eboron and Letos.”

“I had no idea it was so bad…”

Joe scoffed. “Where have you been the last fifteen years?”

let me preface this by telling you where I am right now. I’m sitting at my desk doing homework, because this week and next are exams. now, i would LOVE to be in my bed, which is like 4 feet away from me right now, but i’d also really like to go home. don’t get me wrong, i do think that nyc is my forever home, but i’m going to my hometown to stay with my parents on the 18th,, and i’m so excited. I just really miss them and i’m so excited to lay in my bed in my childhood room and be with my family. new york can get lonely.

buckle your seatbelts because this is a whole story. when i was a freshman in high school, i took a computer science class in a lab with fabric chairs. very light gray fabric chairs. one day, i was on my period and I HAD A TAMPON IN!!!! i hadn’t really noticed that i was bleeding a lot, so i didn’t think much of it. also, i went to a private school so we had uniforms, so i had a skirt on with only underwear underneath it. so when my computer science class was over one day, i stood up, gathered my things, and the super quiet girl who sat next to me tapped me on the shoulder. this was weird because, again, i had never spoken to her before. she grabbed my shoulder and whispered “you bled through.” and y’all. WHEN I TELL YOU MY HEART STOPPED. i looked down at the LIGHT FUCKING GRAY FABRIC CHAIR. AND THERE IS SO MUCH BLOOD. SO MUCH. and my teacher is a guy. so i look at the chair, i look back at her, i push the chair in and I RUN. I RAN OUT. i started crying because i didn’t know what to do and it was BAD. it was the end of the day, and i of course was not about to go up to my male teacher and tell him. so i went to the guidance counselor, and i went in her office and shut the door. i was already crying so she was like ????? and i told her what happened. she was super nice about it but it was still SO EMBARRASSING. so then she told me that she was going to be the only person to know about this. then i left and never spoke to her again. i still to this day don’t know what she did with that chair. GOD.
