Welcome to SamdalRi - Disappointing is a mild word!
Let me say it up front - I adore Ji Chang Wook. He is so handsome, so gorgeous and an extremely talented actor. He is good at everything - action, comedy and emotions but no one serves angst like he does! I end up watching all his dramas and sadly have liked none since Suspicious Partner. That is my all time favourite - that was also Peak JCW - chemistry and acting everything!
Tumblr media
Needless to say despite me not liking the FL of SamdalRi much , I was looking forward to this drama and quite enjoyed the beach town , light hearted feel of the trailer. The first 4 episodes were decent and even if the drama was tropey and predictable I would have enjoyed watching it if the execution was right. But the drama went downhill sooner than I expected.
Tumblr media
The show starts with FL being wrongly accused and prosecution by media & public alike without any proof of the accusation. On spot reflection of Korean public towards celebs. I expected this plot to play out and FL to fight hard to prove her accuser wrong, but that plot had no consistency and emerged in the series on and off.
People will hate me for saying this, but all that SamDalRi became was a poor copy of Hometown Cha Cha Cha and Reply 1988.
Reply 1988: Families as neighbours/best friends. Gang of 5 friends 4 guys and girl - love triangle.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha:
1. Career oriented FL comes back to her small town after this setback
2. Genius ML opts to stay in small town sacrificing big town opportunities (Are plaid shirts a thing for small town men in Korea?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Halmeoni gang of villages
4. Trauma for ML (death of loved one)
5. Apply ointment on wound of ML scene
6. Drunk sleepover
7. Beach town setting
8. Mid-late 30year olds behaving like teenagers after confessing their love
Now many will say these are common tropes in Kdrama land, but given that HomeTown Cha Cha is recent - the comparisons are most likely.
The lazy writing in SamDalRi made me appreciate HomeCha even more, especially the female characters in that show - small or big were exceptionally written. I couldn’t even empathise or feel for the FL of SamDalRi, forget the sisters or the mom. You take an actress like Kim Mi Kyung and give her a role where she is only staring at everyone barring one breakdown scene.
Tumblr media
And what’s with all the adults hitting each other all the time, yelling at each other and the sisters being constantly drunk!
The Haenyeo gang was the most irritating in this show. My biggest gripe though was the age group of the leads and their friends! Who behaves in such a childish manner at 38 , which man is hanging onto his childhood crush till 38 despite knowing his best friend and her are dating or doesn’t express his feelings when those two split up and take his chance, then wants to express his feelings when the couple is back together! I have no idea if the writer understands the sensitivity around these things.
What’s the Korean drama obsession with showing 38 year old couple who has dated before behaving like they are in their 20s or teens when they get back together again! FFS there was a scene where the dad finds them sleeping in her bed and is mad at them and they are behaving like they got caught for first time!
SamDalRi tried to do everything - friends to lovers to exes to lovers, love triangle, childhood friendships, friends more than family, small town found families, giving up on dreams, scandal, capitalism, life of haenyeos, grief after loss of loved one, a healing drama. It failed at everything, because it couldn’t focus and decide what was the main theme and the sub-plots.
The writing was lazy, there was no character progression or growth, and the audience couldn’t connect to any characters. The acting was quite average barring JCW who excelled in every scene. I know SHS fans liked her performance, but she didn’t move me or make me want to watch more of her dramas (this is the 3rd drama of hers I have watched and the only one I didn’t drop cause of JCW).
I wanted to tweet first, but I started to type and realised it would be too long a thread and so a post was better to rant about this show! I ended up skipping most of the scenes post E8 and only ended up watching scenes that featured JCW, even though he excelled and looked great - this was another ordeal of a drama to finish!
Come on JCW choose better scripts. Do justice to that awesome potential and come back in a mature, slow burn romance with Nam Ji Hyun, because no one else has 🔥 chemistry with you like she does and no one else matches you in all aspects like she does!

Moving
Moving went from:
A high school drama
to superheroes
to spy thriller
to bromance
to slow burn romance
to Kill Bill level action gore
to slice of life showing the most heartwarming moments between the adults and kids,
to the ultimate enemy stand-off,
to tragic backstories of the so called villains,
to found family
to much needed family reunions!
Moving aced all genres and emotions!
Moving has reshuffled my entire all time favourite Kdrama list - Kingdom stays at the Top, Moving comes second, followed by Hot Stove League and Reply 1988.
I have so much to write , so much to unpack - I’m rewatching it and will keep posting my thoughts!
I so love this drama and every single member of the cast! Everyone nailed the role they were given - big or small!

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani - An honest review
I watched Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahaani because everyone I know on social media and few close folks in my real life said it was very entertaining - funny, progressive, feminist , and it showed gender equality.
Tumblr media
So I was taken aback, because the general sentiment for KJo movies should be ‘It’s so shit, but I love it’ - that is a sentiment I can live with because we all have our guilty pleasures.
KJo has his audience who love the shit he pulls off every time he ‘directs’ a film with toxic masculinity, regressive female leads , justifying infidelity (always the answer to unhappy marriages) , glorifying Indian culture, where he adds 30 mins of melodrama and lectures to make the characters redeem themselves. Kjo’s movies are as lame as they can be, but people love them. I get it - ‘this shit is so bad, it’s so good’ category of films. Guilty pleasures are exactly this!
Tumblr media
So sell me his new offering in exactly this manner - but all reviews and social media comments were glowing words of praise of how he has addressed today’s issues and it’s a progressive film. Are people suffering from amnesia or have they not watched better Bollywood films? Because I have a whole list of films you should watch that actually deal with ‘progressive’ mindsets - way before Kjo’s time!
Tumblr media
Rani is a feminist. A FL as feisty news anchor who gives a 5 min lecture on men’s gaze, objectification of women and rape culture, but does an absolute U-turn 5 mins later by objectifying a handsome man in front of her. This is gender equality. Tit for Tat.
Tumblr media
Wearing open back blouses to work is sign of new age feminism (Will I get trolled for sounding old school - has KJo ever stepped inside a corporate workspace - who dresses like Rani does?) What’s next? Women CEOs wearing bikinis? And why not get all men to dress like Rocky Randhawa - that would be peak gender equality in dress code at workplace.
Infidelity is the answer to all unhappy marriages. Remember KANK? Yes, let’s repeat that here, but let’s twist it into unrequited love between the senior citizens. Then add memory loss and illness excuse to get the 80yr old grandpa smooch his 75yr old ex-lover in front of his wife and entire family. The issue is not old age love, age is never a restriction to fall in love, the issue here is infidelity. But if this isn’t cringe enough, let’s completely destroy the most beautiful romantic number in Bollywood by playing it in the background to immortalise infidelity and later lust under the garb of love.
Tumblr media
Let’s get back to our feminism torch bearer Rani, who has now jumped from knowing the guy for two meetings to lusting over him. She is honest with herself (not with Rocky mind you, because at no point have they had any conversation about themselves) that she is in it purely for the physical attraction, it’s just a fling for her. She is an elitist , feminist, Colombian grad, Bengali Girl (who has a terrible Bengali accent) and the crude, can’t speak English well, Gucci/Fendi wearing, Ferrari driving, protein shake drinking, loud Punjabi boy doesn’t match up to her standards. Kjo’s new level of feminism - make women pull the exact shit on men that men have put women through for decades. Tit for Tat! Gender Equality.
Btw at this point I still don’t know why Rocky loves Rani - love at first sight is always about the looks and physical attraction, so convince me why he loves her - because isn’t he this walking-talking green flag just by being understanding of his grandpa’s feelings and calling out Rani checking him out. A walking green flag who gets his grandpa’s ex-lover and his grandpa together to help his grandpa get better - because love is the cure for all illnesses. All doctors and medical researchers have been wasting their time on getting degrees and super specialisations - please enter Kjo’s school of love.
Tumblr media
So now Rani realises she is in love - when and why and what changed her feelings from lust to love - I do not know. She drives on a 4-lane highway in the opposite direction - woman should have died there for her reckless driving, but she lives to propose to Rocky on a f&*king Highway! Bollywood I love you for pulling off this shit.
This is supposed to be the pivotal point in their relationship where she professes her love to him, going down on one knee (because hey you see role reversal - she is the feminist, the alpha female) and telling Rocky everything that HE IS NOT , listing her resume and her exes’. Therefore implying he doesn’t deserve her, but she is taking the high road and still falling for him. All the reasons she lists that she loves about him are actually about his physical aspects = Lust. She doesn’t list one meaningful quality that she actually ‘loves’ about him.
It is at this point that I gave up on the film, because after this RRKPK became a collation of scenes dedicated to social media trending topics:
1. Women burdened with household work
2. Women not liberated enough to pursue their dreams
3. Women being fat shamed
4. Cancel culture
5. Men being shamed for pursuing classical dancing (KJo research FFS - 50% of India’s top kathak dancers are males right from 1940s! )
Each topic got 1-2 scenes, tweets converted to preachy dialogues uttered by our ‘feminist’ queen and zero closures or character growth.
The only thing that works in this movie - is Ranveer , not his character, but him! He is effortless in this role, his comic timing is superb, needs some work on emotions.
Tumblr media
Alia is a shadow of her awesome self on screen post her marriage to Ranbir. It hurts to say this, cause I have loved her in all her movies except SOTY.
Can people age gracefully, I couldn’t bear to look at Shabana Azmi and Jaya B - former was gorgeous as hell in her younger days, now is swollen with all the Botox fillers! Jaya has forgotten to act completely. Dharmendra should not even be acting anymore.
Tumblr media
What was the point of rest of the cast? Only Alia’s dad was a decent act.
The one thing I absolutely love in KJo movies is the music and songs! These were crap too. What Jhumka? Because ruining all the songs from ‘The Golden’ decade of Bollywood was not enough, so they made a terrible mashup of Badtameez Dil & Jhumka Gira Re and killed both the songs in one go! Takes some skill doing this - well done!
Why this long rant if I disliked the movie so much, that too KJo movies? I wouldn’t have written one, if the reviews and comments were honest about the movie being average, typical entertainment; but the moment people praised it to nth level of being socially relevant with feminist heroine and gender equality - they deserved to be called out for their shallow thought process thinking that KJo actually cares about any of this stuff.
Worst people think this is ‘quintessential’ Bollywood. Please watch better films - like Amitabh’s roaring 70s, the romance films of 90s, the fun comedies, the glorious slice of life films from Hrishida, the Yash Chopra multistarrers - that’s quintessential, genuine, charm of Bollywood.
Tumblr media
Lastly before I wrap this up - RRKPK when literally translated is Love Story of Rocky and Rani. I spent 2.5 hours on this shit show and I still don’t know the answer to why and how they fell in love! They didn’t have one decent conversation about themselves! The latter half is about them wooing their families. The film should have been aptly titled ‘Randhawa and Chatterjee Ki Prem Kahaani’ - It’s all about loving your family - K3G Part 2!

Moving Kdrama
After Revenant and DP , this kdrama has me hooked this year! What a slump it has been but am so glad in last 8 weeks I’m getting back to my KDramas. I’m still dying for a good romcom though!
The Moving cast is A+ . The younger generation and the parents.
I’m watching Lee Jung Ha for the first time and his BongSeok is already my favourite character. I love his innocence, naivety, and struggle to impress the girl he likes.
Tumblr media
I loved how HiSoo recognised him as different not weird. The girl has heart of gold. Go Yoon Jung I have watched in Law School and I find her extremely pretty. She is a very good actress.
Tumblr media
I loved their budding friendship so far and him losing control over his super abilities when he is happy was simply the cutest depiction of superabilities across all shows I have watched on this topic!
Tumblr media
I liked Kim Do Hoon in The Law Cafe a lot and him playing this recluse, senior, secretly crushing on HiSoo, guy is intriguing.
Tumblr media
What to say about the casting in Parents generation - Han Hyo Joo, only seen her being kick ass in Happiness, I love her so I know what to expect! Ryoo Seung Ryong, Kim Sung Kyung, Kim Shin Rok. Not a fan of Jo In Sung or Chae Tae Hyun but am sure they will not disappoint.
Tumblr media
Extremely well paced first 7 episodes. Everyone is hiding secrets. Why? The world building is done well, the rules are laid out, the hunt is on. There is the NK-SK political rivalry at play and NiS/CIA too! Looks to be a thrilling chase if the drama plays out well.
The director is the co-director of Kingdom S2!
I’m seated - and didn’t anyone see the similarities to the series Heroes? Look up my next post to see what I mean!

Matt Damon
There isn’t a single Matt Damon film that I have watched and not liked him in it. He doesn’t feature in my top 5 actors I love list. He is the actor I have taken for granted - I’m going to see him in the movie and love his performance. And then I won’t go and write essays about him. Every time I rewatch his films, I will realise and appreciate how awesome he is, but I still won’t sing him the praises like I do for my favourites! Jeez after Oppenheimer I realised how unfair I have been to him as a fan. I have always loved him as an actor and his movies. I have watched movies because they starred Matt Damon.
Tumblr media
Sorry Matt , I should have been a better fan! I have loved you every time I have watched you in Good Will Hunting, in The Bourne series, in the Ocean’s series, in the Adjustment Bureau, in the Departed, in the Martian , in Saving Private Ryan, in the Rainmaker, in the Good Shepherd, in Contagion, in We Bought a Zoo. I have to still watch your latest movies - Ford Vs Ferrari and Air.
Keep being awesome! You are one of the best actors to grace my generation!

Barbenheimer
I was looking forward to Oppenheimer like I look forward to every Nolan movie (except Tenet - I didn’t understand the trailer and never watched it). It was mind blowing, it was layered and it made you think - Trademark of Nolan written all over. I can’t stop raving about the cast, the cameos, the background score, the cinematography, the art direction - everything ! It fulfilled my expectations- no, it exceeded it!
Tumblr media
I wasn’t going to see Barbie. Never owned one, never found them relatable. I still maintain that these are overpriced dolls that put parents out of their money. Just a colossal waste. But then I saw the discourse on social media, I did love the cast and was super impressed with the marketing, and the husband was insistent we must go watch . So I did! I’m glad I did. It didn’t blow my mind but it resonated so much! It shuns patriarchy and matriarchy. It speaks to the women of my generation who are striving hard to be kick ass at their careers and at home. It’s a movie every man and woman should watch. It’s nothing like Marvel movies - Marvel movies teach you jackshit , they are for pure entertainment (I love those too), but Barbie is more layered and it speaks to its audience. If I see one more comment comparing Barbie and Marvel I will lose it!
More power to movies like Barbie.

I woke up to one of my twitter friends messaging me that Wahaj Ali had shared my review of Teri Mere Kahaniyaan (that I had written on this blog) on his IG story. I couldn’t believe it! I have double and triple checked it now and it is true!!
I’m over the moon! Thanks to the fan page run by Nishat Rahman who shared it on her story and it was reposted by Wahaj on his account. It has made my day and week and month and year! I’m just so happy!

Teri Meri Kahaniyaan: Ek Sau Teeswan (Review)
Ek Sau Teeswan is the last story in the 3 film anthology Teri Meri Kahaniyaan.
youtube
Let me be honest upfront, if not for this film being Wahaj Ali’s debut film, I would not have headed to the theatres in the first week of its release to watch it on the big screen. Before I dive into the details of the third story, a quick word on the first two stories in this anthology.
The first film Jin Mahal is a horror comedy with an underlying commentary on class and social strata that exists within all countries. The entire homeless family from the grandmom, to the parents and kids are wonderful to watch! They play their parts so well, especially Gul E Rana who plays the blind grandmom is an utter riot. Much much fun.
Skip the second story Pasoori (I couldn’t cause I watched it in the theatre) - it’s such a bad copy of a Bollywood film. The leads are not only terrible dancers, but they are also bad actors. I have seen both in different PTV dramas and was disappointed how bad Ramsha was here. I had no expectations from Shereyar (Osama of Zindagi Gulzar Hai) and I have no clue how he is getting any main lead roles. Can’t emote to save his life. Where is the fast forward button when you need it!
Now the winner of this film - the third story Ek Sau Teeswan (123rd). I’m not wrong to say that it is the biggest reason for the success of this film. Mehwish Hayat as Sadaf and Wahaj Ali as Asad star in this short tale of strangers on a train.
Tumblr media
Two people meet on a train journey - a game of flirtations ensues , and co-passengers on the train join the audience to play the ‘will they , won’t they’ game.
The movie is Sadaf’s story, of her loyalty to her marriage despite the betrayal from her husband. Asad is clearly smitten by Sadaf’s beauty and makes no qualms about it. But he is carrying his own baggage of his marriage falling apart. In the next 30 mins through their conversations, we learn everything we have to about Sadaf and nothing about Asad. This is where the biggest flaw of the story is - it could have been more balanced giving us the male and female perspective on marriage.
But like I said, this story is about Sadaf, about a woman’s perspective. No woman today is going to like the narrative that Sadaf is working with when it comes to her marriage. I definitely didn’t, because adultery is an absolute deal breaker for me. It’s no go, cannot be forgiven. There is even a hint of abuse at the hands of the husband and that’s worse. So I couldn’t root for Sadaf for the choices she makes or sympathise with her. Mehwish though, reminded me so much of Chitragandha Singh and she is really delightful to watch. I get the writer was probably trying to say loyalty trumps love for women, but the way it was shown from Sadaf’s story was not palatable.
Tumblr media
Now let’s go to the main reason I went for the movie - to watch Wahaj essay Asad for a total screen time of less than 30mins of this 40mins film. Like I said earlier we get to know very little about Asad. Asad tries to initiate the conversation but the rest of the journey is only about him reacting to Sadaf’s views and opinions. Through her story it is implied that he reassess his marriage and his feelings. I would love to dissect that last line he delivers and his expressions, but that would be a major spoiler for those who haven’t watched the movie.
Tumblr media
Wahaj as Asad is charming as hell the moment he enters the screen, he is made for the big screen because you can’t take your eyes off him. Minimal dialogues , maximum expressions. How powerful are his eyes, mesmerising and captivating. They are speaking all the time - the infatuation, the realisation, the disappointment, the love, the apology. Wahaj needs no words, no dialogues. It’s like the writer and director narrated the character to him - said you don’t have many dialogues, now show me what you can do! Wahaj aced the assignment.
I need to see Wahaj in a full fledged slow burn, angsty , healthy romance. I have said so many times, he is born to romance on screen. He is not perfect as an all round actor, but he has perfected the romance genre, the look of love, the heart melting confessions, even if it’s only one line in this entire film. He woos you, he charms you, the moment he looks at you. I wish Pakistani drama and film industry does justice to his talents - he needs more powerful scripts and strong characters to show the world what he is truly capable of.
Mehwish Hayat is an accomplished name in the industry, while Wahaj is making his debut in this film - but he matches her effortlessly in terms of acting and screen presence! It’s not my favourite pairing of his, but he can create chemistry with anyone!
Tumblr media
In summary, Ek Sau Teeswan is Sadaf’s story, any other actor playing Asad could have been a side character; but Wahaj as Asad tiptoes gently in the story and ends up stealing the limelight with that last line delivery and look! A star in the making - choose the right scripts Wahaj and we are seated to watch you soar!
Verdict : Teri Meri Kahaniyaan is not a blow your mind, must watch film. It’s good in parts and has many flaws. If you are a Wahaj Ali fan like me , definitely go watch him on the big screen if the film is running in a theatre near you. If not, wait for it to release on OTT and do watch him essay the gentle, soft spoken, charming Asad. Until you wait, listen to this wonderful track in Shuja Haider’s voice - a song about unsaid, unspoken, unexpressed, unrequited love.

The Rise and Fall of Murtasim Khan
Tere Bin - I have been saying that post E20 this show has stopped making sense, logic has gone out of the window, the character development has stopped, the relationship has not grown and my IQ has dropped to negative.
I have long stayed away from Indian soaps and Pakistani dramas which have had nonsensical tracks, toxic leads, misogyny and medieval plot lines. My only hook to Tere Bin was Wahaj Ali’s performance as Murtasim and him softening towards Meerab played by Yumna Zaidi. Of the 30 odd Pak dramas I have watched, I haven’t seen such sizzling chemistry amongst the leads.
Tumblr media
Meerab was already the worst written female lead in all the dramas I have watched - Indian, Pakistani, Korean, Western. You can read my rant on her in my earlier posts on this blog.
I wasn’t first taken in by Murtasim Khan as a lead cause he showed the typical toxic traits that most sub continent dramas focus on - rich, arrogant, alpha male, controlling, egoistic and worst here with serious anger management issues. I’m sorry but using physical violence, even a slap is simply not acceptable.
Tumblr media
But I’m willing to tolerate them, if they show a good development arc , redemption and acknowledgment of their misgivings, and IF the actor is stellar. Murtasim’s arc and Wahaj Ali’s performance excelled on both accounts. Until E46, Murtasim was the only person trying to make the forced marriage work, he accepted it and put his heart and soul to abide by it, his growth into softening as a person, falling in love, empathising with her plight, tolerating her arrogance and stupid antics (where she put his life in danger, not once but twice), trusting her no matter what (even though there was proof she helped his sister elope with his arch enemy), understanding her point of view, giving her benefit of the doubt, were all on display for us to fall in love with. Wahaj being ace at romance also added to us loving Murtasim.
Tumblr media
Murtasim in Wahaj’s vision was in stark contrast to what Nooran had written. Wahaj said in an interview that Murtasim was logical and they tried every bit to make him less toxic.
youtube
All that the audience was holding their breath for, was for Meerab to realise her love for Murtasim and then see their journey together. Murtasim supporting her law career, Meerab helping him open up from his conservative mindset and together fixing their flaws , their marriage and grow as a couple. It’s not hard to write a positive arc for two hot headed, egoistic people who realise their mistakes and make amends. The audience will forgive the toxicity if they see positivity, growth and genuine repentance.
But Nooran the writer is the villain of this story - we have all established now that she is twisted in her head and seeks some kind of sadistic pleasure in making her female leads look bad; but derives even more pleasure in kicking the male lead from the cliff after elevating him to be one of the best male leads in dramas.
Tumblr media
Male leads remained toxic and we never warmed up to them. Some got redemption arcs and we made some peace. Consent and agency were missing for the female leads and it frustrated us. Handful of shows started reflecting on showing strong female leads and we naturally lapped up those shows. But Tere Bin showed what no other drama did before - the biggest downfall of a male lead in television history.
The amount of toxicity that has been brought into Murtasim’s character in the last 12 episodes is beyond my imagination. How can a guy who kept harping about consent force his wife, that was clearly the original track because nothing makes sense post E47. If assuming they consummated in anger but with mutual consent , the separation makes no sense. Her pining for his love makes zero sense in both scenarios. Post the separation he is doubting that she ran away with her male college friend. The trust issues this lead couple has and their inability to have a single meaningful conversation in 58 episodes is totally baffling.
His need to find Meerab is not because he loves her, but because it’s matter of his family’s reputation. He is announcing to the whole world that she ran away with a man without any evidence. The worst straw for me is that he gives Haya a complete free pass. This is the same woman who has physically harmed his wife (even when it was a false pregnancy) and is obsessed with him to the extent she has left no stone unturned to destroy his and Meerab’s relationship. He is now willingly marrying her - there is no pressure from anyone to make him do so. For all the talks about Meerab will be my wife till end of my lifetime and I will live my life in memory of her love - his lifetime surely lasted a few months/years (honestly I’m confused what the timeline is now between Meerab leaving, giving birth and Murtasim getting married to Haya).
For a supposedly logical and non toxic character, this U Turn has impacted the fans like no other and rightly so. You cannot mislead an audience to love a character and dump garbage all over him. That’s not bad writing , that just pure evil sadism.
Kudos to Wahaj for pouring his heart and soul in Murtasim, but post E46 even his acting is reflective of the fact that he no longer believes in his character. The difference is evident.
Murtasim Khan was set to charm his way into every woman’s heart (and he did given how much popularity this show got and the discussions we have seen on TV and social media). This is full credit to Wahaj’s superior acting skills and on screen charm. But he ended up now as the worst villain in the history of television thanks to Nooran’s impeccable sadistic writing skills.
I will be eternally grateful for discovering Wahaj through Tere Bin, it was always a trash show and I didn’t have any expectations from it, but it was my guilty pleasure for Wahaj and Yumna’s fine onscreen chemistry. However, the fall of Murtasim Khan has been immensely jarring to watch and now Tere Bin has has done permanent , irreparable damage to the joy and pleasure it had brought viewers worldwide.

Murtasim went from Haya is like a sister to me like Maryam, to even if Meerab was not there I would never marry you, to stay away from my room else I will kick you out of the house, to you can never replace Meerab in my heart or mind, to I will marry You
Tumblr media
Next week’s promo sent the Tere Bin fandom in a collective meltdown on twitter and I can’t stop laughing at how this show manages to stoop to new depths that we couldn’t even imagine it could! Wow I truly haven’t seen a writer destroy the characters , the romance and the love story in the manner that Nooran has destroyed Murtasim, Meerab and Terebin.
I expect WahajAli and YumnaZaidi will read the entire scripts and won’t have blind trust in makers next time 🤣
But then again post E20 I was absolutely convinced Haya is the lead character, not Murtasim or Meerab and Tere Bin is written from her POV. The OST makes absolute sense if you see it from her perspective. Nooran loves Haya, which is why she is the only consistent character on that show. We thought we were watching Murtasim and Meerab’s romance but the real deal was Haya.
Tumblr media
We all deserve this for giving any amount of mind space and precious time to this show that has now effectively made my IQ drop to negative levels. Still not watched an entire episode post E20 - but 5 mins each from last 34 episodes have done enough brain damage.

Are folks still watching Tere Bin? I stopped after E46. I just follow twitter online updates because nothing makes sense. Murtasim who thanks to Wahaj’s amazing portrayal and styling would have made it to my favourite leads ever, has been brutally butchered by Nooran!
I haven’t hated a show writer as much as I hate Nooran. I was tolerating her woke feminism in Meerab’s character (which went downhill from E20) because at least the male lead had a clear growth arc, but even that has been destroyed. This show is an effing mess. Murtasim the guy who went berserk with worry when Meerab went missing last time in the village, is looking for Rohail instead of Meerab. Murtasim who knows that Haya harmed Meerab (during her fake pregnancy) with intention of harming the baby , has caused enough misunderstandings between Meerab and him, constantly berates his love and now is the direct cause of all the hurt and anger Meerab and he have caused each other - despite this, not only is he civil to Haya but did he actually say to her that if I can’t find Meerab, the ring will be yours? And that he won’t speak to her if he finds she is at fault .
SHE IS AT FAULT - do you have selective amnesia - you daft buffoon! Someone make this make sense!!
Ugghhhhh why does the show make my BP high , I’m not even watching entire episode - just the clips are now infuriating!

Tere Bin has fried my brains.
Can Nooran just end this drama? My brains are fried, my IQ has dropped and the show stopped making sense post E20. I admit though I have never had so much fun thrashing a show since Startup Kdrama. Twitter and Reddit comments run riot after every episode and my stomach hurts reading the comments and the meltdown people are having thanks to this show 😂
I was still giving this show ten minutes of my time per episode since my favourite lead was not butchered yet. But trust Nooran to destroy the lead’s arc built up for 45 episodes in 5 mins. Murtasim could have been one of the most epic male leads ever! I feel so sorry for Wahaj Ali who put his heart and soul in Murtasim.
Tumblr media
I now firmly believe that Nooran had no vision on Murtasim’s character arc. She was obsessed with the alpha male, angry young man , patriarchal feudal Lord. Wahaj gets cast, has his vision and interpretation and turns the character on its head - elevates it 1000x times, a man so suave, polished, deeply in love, soft, wooing his lady love, making us fall in love with him. Nooran underestimated Wahaj’s ability to romance on screen - guy is an absolute charmer. Guy can romance a stone and melt our hearts. His acting abilities are immense. His intensity , his expressive eyes and his heart melting smile. Wahaj as Murtasim causing women all over gushing over him is all his credit.

Nooran couldn’t deal with this and decided to destroy Murtasim. She succeeded - the choppy editing of the original plot and cringe worthy voiceovers that don’t match the theatrics on screen in E47 are proof.
Can’t be bothered with this show anymore, forever thankful to have discovered Wahaj Ali though, hit me when his next drama comes on my screen. Tere Bin is officially a standing joke and like I said before in my posts here - an absolute trash show .

Tere Bin has sunk to such low levels - I don’t even know how to react after seeing the clips on my Twitter timeline. I’m disgusted is a mild word ! To see such storyline in 2023. How to destroy her own creation - Nooran giving lessons since E20 of this series. So done and so disgusted - I can’t 😡

What is Nooran smoking?
In E43 of Tere Bin, Meerab just blamed Murtasim for abandoning her despite loving her! I know there is no logic left in this show, but Nooran is plunging Meerab to new lows. From the start, Meerab has had zero remorse for her actions. Murtasim was right when he called her out in last week’s episode that she never accepts her faults and blames others. She is quick to judge him as a philanderer and doubt he is having an affair based on him not being home for one night, one night; but is upset when he judged her after seeing her at Rohail’s place. Hypocrisy much. She wants to be respected and revered but won’t offer the same to others. Her anger towards Murtasim is misplaced, she doesn’t feel any guilt of breaking his trust seconds later after he beared his soul to her.
She is not willing to accept her fault for not doing enough due diligence on the guy despite Murtasim’s warnings. She can believe the two day love of Anas, but is blind to the efforts her husband has put into their marriage and all the times he stood by her. She helped his sister elope, faked romance him while hiding that his sister’s lover was in their own house, the guy believed her till he saw an actual video of her helping Mariam elope, she never was honest with him about her actions, and yet he should have listened to her point of view.
The guy went against his own feudalistic mindset and Hitler of a mother to meet the sister’s boyfriend’s family to support Meerab. She refused to believe him when he said the mother was not of good character and the house was a brothrel. Meerab blinded by her false pride and I will fight for every woman’s right to choose her life partner, forgot to do basic risk assessment of the chosen life partner; such was her pride to rebel against forced marriages in the house. Forced marriages are wrong, but so is eloping - which sensible, educated woman supports this nonsense! We all know by now how Nooran’s twisted mind works - Murtasim is going to apologise to Meerab again , he has turned into one doormat who has lost the ability to use his brains. Nooran and Meerab are just peak examples of woke feminism. I haven’t seen a worse written female lead, oh wait there is the passive aggressive Maheer in Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha.
Why am I still watching Tere Bin 🤷🏻‍♀️, it gives such sadistic pleasure to trash a show! I haven’t hate watched a show in long time! But at the same time I can’t forget that this show introduced me to Wahaj Ali and Murtasim , so am watching it only for him!
