Love this, stumbled across a diamond of a tradition whilst looking up Azaleas today for illustration inspiration.

I discovered the weird and wonderful world of this mental pastel carnage known as The Azalea Trail Maids!

Why didn't I get this in my small town in England... ergh but what colour would I have been!!!

I absolutely love this story, I have always believed in clothing being an extension of what we feel internally, at that exact moment, it IS NOT about the way we feel as a unique look, I.e. ' I have an eclectic look that mixes high street with vintage boutique charity shop finds' Aaahhh bollocks you and most people who love fashion do, get in line love! It takes a very brave person to dress in a way that is described here and bold as brass if you want to wear a white 'boring' t with jeans or a cropped 'awkward length' Trouser with seventies blouse then boldly do it! But similarly never judge a person on what they are wearing... Wait and think about that... You judge more people then you realise... I just did with the atypical Primark charity vintage wannabe doughnut... Fashion irony.... Takes some grey matter Nx

So it is universally understood, within my mind, that I have an obsession with underwear, it isn't the necessary need to own it and wear it but as a product there is something I desire about it.

I feed off the look and colour and shape, and you know what, sometimes then seeing it worn by a model or even on my own body it just doesn't have the same powerful effect it did previously when I saw it on the flat…

And these knickers are not an exception! Look at them! 

The Karlie knickers from Agent Provocateur are a big favourite of mine from last season and I think that whilst there is an element of simplicity to them the way that the fabric is used is actually very clever. 

They have removed a lot of the boarder lines that elastic creates visually and along the front waistband and over the back of the buttock cheeks and what you are left with is a really clever visual display of flowers, like the knickers have literally bloomed into existence.

Limited use of lining at the front and then the pink thin hip elastic (which continues this botanic theme by looking like plant stems) really add, or rather take away, from the original look of these being knickers and more of a sexy posy.

When worn, this effect is sadly slightly lost as of course from the front you cannot see the removal of the elastic over the bottom and vice a versa when viewed from the back, but there is still definitely an element of the organically grown look.

Like Eve’s fig leaf panties if Agent Provocateur were making them up for her.

High waist knickers are completely wasted

I know a lot of people love high waist styles, the vintage look the pin up evoking the support and suck it in properties but I think that designers done make them like they should.

Quite frankly, they are not made… high enough!

I love this pair from La Perla though, the Zig-Zag Soutache style is a signature collection from the brand that employs a very contemporary textile design and method.

These high waist lovelies are part of it and are so high I think they really mail it when it comes to the high waist style.

I find the very frequently seen high waist knickers far too…. Blocky and as a result extremely unflattering, I imagine they are in some cases very uncomfortable moving up and down as the wearing day progresses.

I believe a decent high waist pair like this sit in the narrow of the waist and wear so much better, anchoring themselves to the lower half of the torso and moving with the body rather than around it.

Come on let’s get it right

And the key to the success that I nearly forgot to mention… the button fastening at the back, it won’t work otherwise!

Miss Bristol my new favourite design. I have never liked purple in clothing but in underwear it is lovely. This employs a cute multicoloured embroidered tulle at the front, a soft almost Cadbury's purple mesh at the back and is styled with spotted black tulle and edged in black picot elastic. Because I can and I was complimented on them. Taking a bit if inspiration from the company I work for and finding it easy to see how they get inspired I painted the wedges and added some beautiful little flowers to my heeled sandals... I love silky knickers These are Miss Osborne on my Etsy shop Mina confidants (shameless plug) Buy I am really in love with these for many reasons, the stretch silky front, the geometric lace insert but most of all the cut. I brought the side seams forward and carried the back panel over the hips, it slims the look and just makes my rather lady muscular thighs look fab! I love these!!
