We’ve had such an amazing time working with all the extremely talented contributors, and they’ve done a wonderful job of bringing this project to life, so we hope you enjoy this as much as we do!

Oikawa Rarepair Week; Day Two

Prompt: captaincy // energy // post-canon Pairing: Oikawa Tooru, Iwaizumi Hajime, Hanamaki Takahiro & Matsukawa Issei Keeping together with the @oikawararepairweek streak- Although there's not much time for me to get together a full drabble/fic, here are some headcanons where Oikawa takes much advantage of his position to gain what he needs most...

Pre-Match Headcanons

In which Oikawa takes advantage of his position and demands affection

‘As Captain I demand that we cuddle together-’ ~ Oikawa

‘I fully support this idea.’ ~ Hanamaki, who is clearly not helping the situation and does end up getting glared at by a certain short boyfriend

Team cuddles are Oikawa’s favourites and it helps him to connect to everyone physically before going onto the match where he will have to set to people

Is also content with sticking to someone’s side, especially when it is Iwaizumi as he rarely offers affection

Generally just needs affection otherwise ends up whining and sulking mid match

One time when Iwaizumi was mad and got the whole team to ignore him, Oikawa ended up playing badly before pulling out his top moves at the end- // They won but Oikawa also won a lecture

Iwaizumi ends up managing Oikawa’s duties of checking everyone’s there, speaking with managers and coach

MatsuHana stealing Oikawa from Iwa’s side to cuddle with him- Oikawa protests, but in the end does not mind and instead is very smug about it

Cuddles + Kisses with the two gets Iwa annoyed and results in him playing harder so they can finish the match and go home to make a cuddle pile with all four of them

Post-Match Headcanons

Where the four can be found celebrating or being upset together

IwaOi becomes more of a thing when Oikawa is especially upset after a loss and ends up blaming himself

‘I-Iwa-chan, I could have done better, I-’

Iwaizumi reassures him with hugs and the two often hide in the assigned room that their team is given 

MatsuHana join after a while and they all cuddle together before heading home to someone’s house

The four can also be found out eating post-match, sometimes with the team, sometimes just the four of them

Oikawa tends to start watching the recorded version of the lost match obsessively and needs to get dragged away for cuddles

Hanamaki throws out jokes to try lighten the situation when losing and is often the one to suggest good places to eat to gain back their energy

Matsukawa is often silent, but knows when to speak up to cheer up/comfort/encourage the conversation to keep going

Iwaizumi mothers all of them and makes sure that they are all eating well, gaining back their energy and prepared for the next match (aka not sulking at loss or being too arrogant over their win)

Somehow always ends up crashing at someone’s place and when they do, it is a squeeze to fit in the bed, but they do-

Cuddles + Reassurance + Kisses + All the affection + Chatting = All four of them being happy and content in the end when they fall asleep

Oikawa Rarepair Week; Day One

Prompt: birthdays //  height  // soulmate Pairing: Oikawa Tooru & Kunimi Akira

This is dedicated to @soupfulness and her Kunimi & Oikawa comic that was recently posted. It was completely captivating and for the start of this week, I wished to try write something for that particular rare pair as I seemed to find potential in two-

I’ll be trying to write for the whole of @oikawararepairweek and hopefully I’ll get through it. Thank you to all who stopped off to follow, repost, like or just take a moment to read!

A Shadow of a Doubt

In this world, one’s soulmate are not determined by a matching mark. Neither the first words formed upon one’s lips, nor the names that curl around their body, the basis of pairings that are meant to be. Instead, one looks for shadows.

A person has their character, their personality with both flaws and perfections. A shadow is a reflection of the person, something that follows them around unknowingly, forever stuck to their owners. They display all that you are, all that you can be and all that you might be.

However, to find your shadow back, one must first find their soulmate. For those who have another destined for them at birth, will be born with their soulmate’s shadow that forever trails them around. To get their own back, there must be mutual understanding between the pair with all things between the two resolved. And a simple kiss will do the trick.

Kunimi was never one to care about soulmates. Why bother going forth with one’s soulmate if they were already infatuated with another? He wasn’t as lazy as everyone thought he was and even if he was lazy, the raven haired male was not one to abandon ship without considering it first.

It took him far longer than expected for him to spot it, but when he did, he could not help wondering- Wondering why. Why did the universe think a person like him would suit someone like Oikawa Tooru? Oikawa was popular, hardworking, skilled in volleyball and he did not stand a chance of being next to him as a soulmate, much less as a partner. There would be many that would glance at him with both envy and spite for snatching away the bachelor from his pedestal, so he wouldn’t. However Kunimi could not deny any part of it. It was not a lie that they were soulmates when the wavy haired shadow clung to him, standing upright unlike him and still undeniably good looking despite not being the real person. It was not a lie when he spotted his shadow trailing the infamous senior, boring flat hair and all. It was not a lie to say that he, Kunimi Akira, held the position that many a girl (and possibly boy) would die to have. He never planned on telling though, not when-

“Kunimi-chan~” That familiar teasing voice was accompanied by an arm that swung around his shoulder and the person in his thoughts appeared at his side. More than likely, the third year was going to end up requesting for help in some ridiculous thing- “You’ll protect me from Iwa-chan right?”

Before the smaller male could reply, Iwaizumi appeared at the other end of the corridor, shooting the setter a glare as he stormed over. Kunimi held respect for both of them, but even he knew not to get in the vice-captain’s way when he was about to lecture his childhood friend.

“Oi! Don’t bother our juniors!”

“Ehhh? But Kunimi-chan here doesn’t mind, does he?” As the two began to bicker over him, Kunimi drifted back into his thoughts. It doesn’t take much to notice that the two popular third years were meant for each other. Oikawa and Iwaizumi balanced out, setter and ace, captain and vice-captain. And as much as he wanted to get the truth out and the soulmate business over with, he was not stupid enough to interfere whilst the two were still sorting out things. To be honest though, it wasn’t him that was the problem, it was the masses of girlfriends Oikawa had. They were all pretty, chatty, wonderful unlike him-

Suddenly, the weight off his shoulders vanished.

“Iwa-chan is too slow~”

“Get back here Trashykawa!” Luckily, Oikawa managed to avoid Iwaizumi by disappearing off quickly, having learned from previous experiences that sticking around would only get the currently annoyed male riled up even more. Iwaizumi’s brows furrowed. Following that, a sigh soon escaped his lips as the annoyance went out with the breath he was holding in. Kunimi took it as his indication to leave.

“Kunimi.” Iwaizumi hesitated before allowing the next words to sound the air. “He might be stupid, but he is looking for you.” Oh. Iwaizumi knew. Although Oikawa was the observant one, the raven haired male was still able to take in things. Especially for his teammates and friends.

Awkwardly, a hand went to run through his hair as the first year turned back around.

“I would only hold him back.” Came the indifferent voice. “And even Iwaizumi-san would be more suited for Oikawa-san than me.” It was then that his shadow - or rather, Oikawa’s - decided to speak up by giving a protest. You couldn’t feel a shadow’s touch, but you could still see their actions. How he pointed towards Iwaizumi. Listen to him, the shadow seemed to say, stomping his feet when Kunimi didn’t quite do as he was told.

A laugh sounded the air as Iwaizumi let out what he had been holding in. “He’s just like Oikawa- Childish, stubborn and demanding.” As   if offended, the shadow started complaining, crossing his arms. Knowing Oikawa, the shadow most probably would be pouting now. Having seen this many times before, he only gave a glance and sighed.

“He would be happy to know.”

“I’m not going to ruin his birthday with this.”

There was no use fighting with Kunimi on this matter, not when he was this stubborn and had thought about this over the years already.

Perhaps one day it would be him instead of that girl, fingers entwined as he smiled quietly along to some ridiculous thing that Oikawa was saying. Maybe their shadows would match as they walked together slowly - softly - footsteps sounding in the silent air. Not today though.

“Someday, I’ll tell him, Iwaizumi-san, but not this day.” For now, he held his distance and his admiration, quietly waiting for the future around the corner. If it came to him, it did and there was no point forcing it.
