to me, nico hulkenberg to kick sauber is an end of an era.

nico in haas gave us the adorable rivals to teammates storyline that netflix tried to create with kevin magnussen, two unproblematic blond hunks who care about their kids and not much else, and two absolute teammates who messed with the kids and the entire midfield to make a single point and are currently doing better than three whole teams - it’s the end of an era.

‘Suck my balls’ lore: an enemies to lovers tale …

My favourite thing about f1blr is the lore posts. Here is my attempt at to cover the Kevin Magnussen x Nico Hulkenberg (#hulknussen) ‘suck my balls’ lore.

Love how they went from KMag being replaced by Nico at Renault when he left for Haas.

To the ‘suck my balls’ inchident at Hungary in 2017, where Nico claimed Kev was racing dirty after forcing him off track (despite doing the same thing to Kev’s teammate, Romain earlier in the same race)! ▶️

To Nico admitting it lives rent free in his head and even posting on his stories about Danish beer triggering him 🤣.

He then tried to mend his relationship with Guenther after Guenther said he was proud of Kev for finally standing up to Nico being a ‘bully’.

In a later Renault teammate video, Danny Ricc said “you wouldn’t suck his balls, would you?” To which Nico replied “fuck, every day!”.

To Nico losing his seat in 2020 and Kev for 2021.

Kevin was re-employed on short notice, days before Bahrain, 2022 by Haas after they dumped their Russian pay driver due the invasion of Ukraine. Nico was called up as Aston’s reserve driver to replace Seb when he had Covid … guys it was FATE!

So Nico broke the ice at the grid photo shoot, telling Kev to suck HIS balls.

To them becoming teammates in 2023, who everyone was expecting fireworks from … but instead they seemingly got along well.

Only to support each other, race fairly, flirt and touch each other at every chance they get and being referred to by Haas on social media many times as having a ‘bromance’.

Ultimate growth and maturity … with a dash of unhinged. It’s amazing what losing a seat, gaining perspective and a family can do for these drivers. I’m proud of them.

i wasn't going to rant about this but i'm gonna bc it has actually pissed me off. people are acting surprised it's cancer but were fully ready to believe the royals were using a body double, that william was having an affair and kate had left him, that she had a mental breakdown etc. etc.

did we learn nothing from chadwick boseman? people's cancer diagnoses are not public domain! kate had major surgery only two months ago, we were told then that she wouldn't be back before easter which is still a week away and still the whole fucking internet and the media decided "nah, we can't let her be" and so many people bought into mad conspiracy theories.

but they released a photoshopped picture? they do that all the fucking time as do all celebrities. and no, the picture was not meant to be "proof of life", it only became that to the people crazy enough to think she might actually be dead. if the palace had not released a picture, the rumours would also have just been going crazy and people would continue to speculate why she had not been seen. the conspiracy theories did not start with the picture, they were already running rampant before it.

at the end of the day, no matter how you feel about royals, then kate is a mother with young children. the fact that she didn't immediately run to the bbc to share "i have cancer" when she had to process the unexpected diagnosis herself, reassure her children, make a chemo plan etc. is absolutely understandable. it was not the palace's bad pr that did this, it was people buying into conspiracy theories instead of using logic. if someone has surgery and you hear nothing for a while then it's likely bad news and bad news is almost always cancer.

no matter how famous someone is, they are entitled to privacy especially when it comes to their health. we shouldn't force anyone to perform when they're coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis. i sincerely hope people have learned from this but considering the shit we went through with chadwick boseman then probably not.

people always ask me why kmag is my favorite driver and for years I've been telling them because he is the ONLY driver who will never give up a race and today was a perfect example. he took 20sec in penalties (which he fully admitted to) and at NO point was he like "well that's my race done". He got told to defend and he *defended*. he fought for his teammate's one point like it was his own WDC title. he kept people behind him so long that they got lapped and scored a P12 with those penalties. he is my champion.

this is alba larsen, an aspiring danish racing driver, who kevin has been mentoring personally for a while. she became 4th in the danish karting championship against a lot of boys who has been driving longer than her and have more resources. this impressed kevin and he wanted to help her on her way to a professional racing career - and hopefully formula 1. 

being asked why kevin decided to mentor her, k-mag said that he believed it to be exciting and important for more women to break into the world of motorsports. he said that alba is bright and passionate about racing, which is ofc more important than “just” being a girl, but he sees a path for her to become a professional racing driver and wants to help her on the way.
