Ratings: 0.47 Lydia saves Jordan (6x12) / 0.45 Lydia saves Stiles (6x10). After the fan service has becomes a flop LOL I'm glad Marrish has more ratings in this episode and even more on seasons 4 and 5. What do you think of Marrish scenes in 6x12?

Ratings are a strange animal. 6x12 may have got higher ratings than 6x10, but we didn’t know before 6x12 aired that there’d be beautiful marrish scenes in it, so it’s mostly just a coincidence. A satisfying coincidence, for us, but a coincidence none the less.

I do think that the decision to go all in with styd!a in 6a didn’t pay off ratings-wise the way they’d hoped, so for 6b they seem to be taking a different approach and giving us all the ships, or rather enough of each one that every group of shippers gets something that makes them happy, even if just temporarily. And so far, it seems to be working. We’re only two eps in, so it’s really too early to say much with any certainty, but the drop in overall viewers from 6x11 to 6x12 was much smaller (about 100k smaller) than the drop from 6x01 to 6x02, and at present (although again, it’s really far too early to tell) the overall average season rating for 6b is slightly higher than that for 6a.

If only they’d learned this lesson a little earlier, we might’ve all got enough content for our various ships to keep us all happy(ish), and this fandom might’ve been a more pleasant place. All we can hope for now is to end things on as happy a note as possible, with no one getting everything they want but everyone getting something they want, and something they can work with in fic after the show has ended.

I actually haven’t seen the scenes yet. I don’t watch the show anymore (I’m waiting until I know how it all ends before I commit lol), and I usually just watch the marrish scenes on tumblr or youtube but I haven’t seen them anywhere this week. Does anyone have a link?
