you know i have never heard a convincing arguement as to why AO3 should not moderate the content that is posted to their website and i think a lot of the arguement against moderation on AO3 boils down to, terminally online people thinks community moderation is the same as government censorship and personally sending the cops to someone’s house to arrest them irl/

my favorite feypaul dynamic is when paul is like “i can fix him” and feyd is like “i can make him worse” and they eventually even each other out until they’re equally bad

Having a character bleach his hair on page because his (previously unspecified) canon hair colour didn’t match fan consensus is the funniest form of fanservice.

Jean swallowed hard against everything he knew better than to say and managed a quiet, “I will burn the house down.”

Yes except for endverse (I consider that the same universe tho)
if it isn't abundantly clear already, i am very much an "only this dean and this cas" truther. there is no other universe for them. they are not interchangeable with the other versions of themselves. they are not soul mates. they are not destined to be together. they fought tooth and nail for what they have and it's special because it's theirs.

Btw are we making hypotheses about what Jeremy’s deal is? I think his stepfather is Police Chief or DA or something like that and he made something to embarrass him or go against him and that’s why he has issues with cops.

This is exactly what I meant in my last post
neil’s insistence on hiding his scars for as long as possible bc he knows it’s not normal and the foxes Will stare and ask questions vs jean just stripping in front of the trojans bc he expects his teammates to ignore his abuse since it isn’t their business... neil flinching from wymack's loud voice bc he doesnt trust men old enough to be his father vs jean holding his racquet out for rhemann to hit him after "failing" to do what he said he would do because he expects to be beaten to a pulp by his superiors and because "contrition, coach"... it makes me sick!!! i need to wrap them up in a warm blanket forever

I think the most endearing thing about Jean is that he just cares. So fucking much. Not to say that Neil doesn't but Neil had to learn to care and I think it's widely accepted that he cares about a select few people and cares about them fiercely; to the point of kill or be killed.
Jean though? He cares for almost everyone regardless of what they have done to him. He cared for Zane, the man who betrayed him in the most horrifying way for a number, for something Jean had no control over. He cared enough to save his life. He cared for Lucas who brought Jean's abuser right to his gate where he had believed himself to be safe. Not once did he lash out at him because he understood that his actions came from a desperation to know his brother again, the ache of having him near again but not having him at all. He cared for Cody, someone he doesn't even really know; cared enough to ensure they were safe and not being forced into something.
After being beaten down every day, holding on to life out of sheer desperation and perhaps a promise made to a once? friend, Jean still hasn't had his ability to care beaten out of him and it's such a beautiful miracle. He's a little like Andrew in this I think, in that he pretends so desperately to not care under the guise of barbed words and cold shoulders because that's a weakness, a chink in his already dented armour that the monsters can and will exploit with glee. He knows that yet he can't choke that tenderness out of himself.

I’m struggling to put this into words but Jean felt more normal to me than Neil did in aftg?? Like I know it’s objectively not true, but I think it comes from how much Jean normalizes his trauma.
Neil is a rebel at heart, even when he thought everything was lost, he wanted to keep playing, wanted to die being himself, wanted to take everybody down with him. He was aware of how crazy, ridiculous and outlandish his situation and his reaction were most of the time. (Sometimes he realizes not knowing or having experienced something is weird and he knows there are gaps in his knowledge of the world).
Jean has no idea what he experienced wasn’t normal. He is certain everyone has similar experiences in an exy team as what happened in the Nest and they just hide it better. He is so shocked to discover how truly bizarre and horrifying his life is. And that makes him talk about it like it was normal, in a way that actually managed to convince me. He sounds so certain he managed to suspend my disbelief as if I was reading a fantasy novel.
Has anyone else experienced this? Was it the opposite for you? I’d love to know
