Derek’s face softened as he realised it was Maddie standing at his doorway. “Of course.” He opened his door wider so she could walk into his room. 

She came in and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Thanks.” Her voice was weak, obvious that she’d cried already. The dream had just been so horrible.

The boy laughed as he watched the girl’s reaction, pulling out a box from his pocket and passing it over to the girl. He knew that she’d been feeling a bit left out recently, so he’d decided to go buy her a necklace, in hopes that she might find comfort in the gift. “Well go on, open it then.” 

She didn’t need to be told that twice, she loved presents after all. Her smile widened when she saw the beautiful necklace he got her.“Oh my god! I love it! Thank you!” Maddie gave him a quick kiss before putting her hair up with her hands so he could put the necklace on her. She wanted to wear it immediately. It was a simple gold one with a gorgeous pendant, it went with almost every outfit, she was proud of him.

Derek grabbed the phone out of the girl’s hand and put it to his ear. “Miss Chase has become suddenly unavailable, please try again in a few working days.” The boy cut off the call placing the phone into the girl’s hand. “I have a surprise.”

Maddie couldn’t help but giggle when Derek took her phone and hung up for her, excitement bubbling up inside her when he said he had a surprise, stopping herself from jumping up and down in public. “Show me, show me, show me!”

Wyatt’s favorite thing about the holidays were the ugly holiday sweaters that he got to wear. He was sporting his Birch White Shepherd Knit fleece pullover, when he wasn’t in uniform, it seemed that the only thing he owned was outdoor wear from his family’s company. “Do you think this counts as an ugly sweater? Because I’ve always wanted to enter an ugly sweater contest.” Wyatt asked the blonde that was so conveniently nearby.

Though Layla didn’t think buying new shoes was going to help her life at all, she was proven wrong. There were days that the soccer star risked not waking up for an early morning practice so she could go out. The floppy boot things were really good for going out. “Okay, I admit it, the floppy shoes were a good idea.” She admitted, slouching into the couch. “Girls really like talking about shoes, it was a little exhausting.”

“See? You should listen to me more often.” Maddie grinned proudly, not at all surprised at the words coming out of her friend’s mouth. She had waited for Layla to admit she’d been right, which Maddie knew she was from the start. “Shoes are what keeps us going. Literally and figuratively.”

Maddie looked her up and down for a moment before nodding. “I believe you can pull it off, but stick to darker red and green tones.”

“No, you’re not right. They might not care that they look horrible, but they could ruin the whole party’s aesthetics. I know I’m not one of those people, I look good in every color, but not everyone’s this good looking and they should recognise that.”
