everlark and physical touch: part 1, the 74th hunger games

part 1 of a special post about katniss and peeta's relationship through touch.

((Lines from the book are Italicized))

Page 260-261: Katniss and Peeta's first kiss. Impulsively, I lean forward and kiss him. This is long overdue, because he's right, we are supposed to be madly in love. Katniss began these kisses. Not Peeta. Yes, he's in love with her, but he respects her and is still a bit shy. He's too shy to start anything, he'll kiss her if Katniss kisses him. At least at first.

Pg 264: I reach out to touch his cheek, and he catches my hand and presses it against his lips. Because of Katniss's kisses, Peeta gains the confidence to return with his own romantic gestures,

Pg 298: The first kiss..the first real one. This is the first kiss we're both fully aware of. This is the first kiss where I actually feel stirring inside my chest. Warm and curious. This is the first kiss that makes me want another. WOOO!! The first kiss. The first glimpse into Katniss's (brief) mentions throughout the books of her romantic desire and the first true everlark moment, in my opinion. But Peeta keeps it from going further. Oh well. But this is the first glimpse of Katniss's desire, her arousal, caused by Peeta. This is just the beginning. Peeta has gained the confidence to give her one long kiss, but loses this confidence. So Katniss has to give him that confidence again..

Pg 302: Katniss returns the kiss. To give him that confidence. At least, affection. I swallow hard and get the words out. "You don't have much competition anywhere." And this time, it's me who leans in. YAYYYYY!!!!! Good job Katniss. Gale is probably fuming.

Pg 311: Looooooooong Kiss. I scoot over and shake Peeta's shoulder. His eyes open sleepily and when they focus on me, he pulls me down for a long kiss. He's regained that confidence. And even when Katniss says they're wasting hunting time, Peeta even flirts a bit, saying "I wouldn't call it wasting."

Fast forward a bit...

Pg 361: I take about three steps and fling myself into his arms. He rights himself and we just cling to each other. He's just kissing me. Kisses. Peeta's still in love. Is Katniss?

Already the boy with the bread is slipping away from her. Not all of those kisses from Katniss were for love. Most were for survival. Peeta kissed her..as an act of love. Katniss kissed him..some for love, but most for their survival. His heart's broken, and she's a mess. She doesn't want to let go, but the closer they get to 12, the more confused she gets. She doesn't know what they'll be in 12. She and Gale? She just realized Gale might like her.

the first month of 2024 has gone by..let's see how hunger games stars have been doing.

Jennifer Lawrence: mothered at the golden globes, with her "if i don't win, i'm leaving" when announced, and her support for emma stone after she won <3333. Josh revealed she texted him after FNAF, showing support for him. Their movies were #1 on Netflix and #1 on Peacock at the time. She reunited with Lenny Kravitz at the Golden Globes, where 6 THG stars were present. It's like a mini-reunion!

Josh Hutcherson: where to begin.. His newest film, The Beekeeper was released January 12th, 2024 and has made $107 million worldwide. Also, we got a WIRED interview and puppy interview, him FINALLY back on The Tonight Show (Josh and Jimmy are such a good duo), him revealing Jen's sweet text to him, and of course...THE WHISTLE EDIT CONTINUES! All I Wanted- Paramore

This song honestly feels like a Katniss Mockingjay Part 1/2 song. Lyric Analysis:

"Think of me when you're out, when you're out there"- refers to Katniss's constant worries about Peeta when he's being hijacked by the capitol.

"All I wanted was you"- Refers to Katniss not being able to realize she's in love with Peeta until it's basically too late, as Peeta wants to kill her as a result of his hijacking, and she finally realized she loved Peeta. (Thanks, Finnick!)

"I could follow you to the beginning, maybe relive the start/ and maybe then, we'd remember to slow down, at all our favorite parts"- Refers to Katniss wishing things had been different, in a way, realizing the intimate moments she and Peeta shared as she never recognized she loved him..when he loved her.

2. Still Into You- Paramore

Can you tell I'm a Paramore fan yet? I hope so.

Many of these lyrics feel like something Peeta would describe his relationship with Katniss, but there are still some Katniss-y lyrics in there.

"You had me convinced that you loved me"- Refers to Katniss in MP1 finally realizing she loved Peeta..and Peeta loved her, and Peeta's heart being broken after she admitted after the 74th some of the love was fake.
