I fucking knew it, I SAID it: they're making ADHD people the next culture war targets. They will 'just ask questions' until we lose every scrap of ground we've gained in the last decade and more. We may not quite inspire the same level of hatred as a sexual minority, but we can very easily be made to inspire disdain and that also works.
They will strip us of our accomodations and our medications and try to stifle any sense of shared identity, and if that kills some of us, oh well. So long as it fuels another outrage cycle, fine.
So many of the tropes they've been using on trans people work extremely well on ADHD people too! "There are too many of these people suddenly! It must be a fad! It spreads through friend groups! And online! People are going private for diagnoses and that's bad! They are using pOwERfUl medical interventions and we think it's freaky!"
I saw the first ripples of this in terf circles about two years ago. And of course it's spread.
6% of British ADHD people lost their jobs in the last year thanks to the meds shortage. SIX PER CENT! And that just made these ghouls go "ooh, tasty, what else can we do?"
Recently an 'expert' was on the BBC saying people see ADHD diagnosis as a "golden ticket." Laurence Fox has been ranting that the condition doesn't exist and threatening "'you won't poison my child's body [with ADHD meds] against my consent"
People need to be aware this is going to get worse. Maybe, if we're lucky, it won't get really bad. But it's going to get worse than it is now.

It's fine to hate this. It's a shitty choice to have no candidates on the board that you want to throw your full support behind. But the other options take us much worse places. So vote Blue where you need to, vote further left in the seats that the math says have a legit shot at winning, and then pressure ALL your representatives to move your city / state / the whole country to ranked choice voting.
It's a long game. You'd best start playing it now if you ever want it to become a game that doesn't make you feel angry to play.
To Stop Trump you MUST Vote Biden: Why? You don't even like Biden!
This needed to be it's own post so here goes,
USA Presidency Voting 101:
We have a One Winner Only system right now. You cannot vote for anyone except Biden unless you WANT Trump to win and deport, kill or jail everyone who opposes him. You will not be spared.
Lemme break it down for you.
If we have a shady gang of Eleven people, voting which of two candidates is going to be our new boss:
and Five of us vote for Dingnut,
and three of us vote for Lessevil,
but the rest vote for Smugness, who isn't even running for Gang Boss because Lessevil is doing one rather evil thing instead of a reign of total terror and murder like Dingnut has TOLD us he wants to do...
WHO HAS THE MOST VOTES?
Lessevil ends up with just three, because of the people who thought it'd be fun to assuage their own sense of righteousness at the cost of Dingnut winning the election with his five loyal cronies
and Dingnut then proceeding to slit throats of everyone who didn't vote for him no matter whether they voted for Smugness or not!
"But I was doing the Right Thing!" they scream as they die,
but feeling Righteous doesn't save you from Evil. FIGHTING IT DOES.
YOU MUST vote for Biden unless you WANT TRUMP and his cult to run the country. Possibly for the rest of your shortened life.

Including pre-symptomatic cases, spread with no symptoms is estimated to be greater than 60% and why just masking when you feel sick isn't actually keeping anyone safe.

Yesterday [April 30, 2024], a bipartisan collection of US Senators introduced the Fans First Act, which would help address flaws in the current live event ticketing system by increasing transparency in ticket sales, and protecting consumers from fake or dramatically overpriced tickets.
Today, the artists and Congressmen allege, buying a ticket to a concert or sporting event requires negotiating a minefield of predatory practices, such as speculative ticket buying and the use of automated programs to buy large numbers of tickets for resale at inflated prices.
The legislation would ban such practices, and include provisions for guaranteed refunds in the event of a cancellation.
The political campaign organizers, calling themselves “Fix the Tix” write that included among the supporters of the legislation is a coalition of live event industry organizations and professionals, who have formed to advocate on behalf of concertgoers.
This includes a steering committee led by Eventbrite [Note: lol, I'm assuming Eventbrite just signed on to undermine Ticketmaster and for PR purposes] and the National Independent Value Association that’s supported by dozens of artistic unions, independent ticket sellers, and of course, over 250 artists and bands, including Billie Eilish, Dave Matthews, Cyndi Lauper, Lorde, Sia, Train, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, and hundreds more which you can read here.
“Buying a ticket to see your favorite artist or team is out of reach for too many Americans,” said Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN).
“Bots, hidden fees, and predatory practices are hurting consumers whether they want to catch a home game, an up-and-coming artist, or a major headliner like Taylor Swift or Bad Bunny. From ensuring fans get refunds for canceled shows to banning speculative ticket sales, this bipartisan legislation will improve the ticketing experience.”
Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), Roger Wicker (R-MS), John Cornyn (R-TX) and Peter Welch (D-VT) also signed on to the Fan First Act.
In the House, parallel legislation was just passed through committee 45-0.
[Note: That's a really good sign. That kind of bipartisan support is basically unheard of these days, and rare even before that. This is strong enough that it's half the reason I'm posting this article - normally I wait until bills are passed, but this plus parallel legislation with such bipartisan cosponsors in the senate makes me think there's a very real chance this will pass and become law by the end of 2024.]
“We would like to thank our colleagues, both on and off committee, for their collaboration. This bipartisan achievement is the result of months and years of hard work by Members on both sides of the aisle,” said the chairs and subchairs of the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
“Our committee will continue to lead the way on this effort as we further our work to bring this solution to the House floor.”
“The relationship between artist and fan, which forms the backbone of the entire music industry, is severed,” the artists write. “When predatory resellers scoop up face value tickets in order to resell them at inflated prices on secondary markets, artists lose the ability to connect with their fans who can’t afford to attend.”

I watched the Last Unicorn again recently. Man, that intro song always gets me. Never been one to draw unicorns but it was just a bit of time to do fanart for a childhood movie.
