Fabric Covered Armor

There are several ways to create costume armor, with all different kinds of materials. There is no ‘right’ way to go about it, think about what you need the piece to do and the tools you have. For Nero, I wanted something that was going to be flexible and easy to wear. I also wanted something that would be easy to travel with. With the fabric covering the foam armor piece, I wouldn’t have to worry about paint chipping to scratching accidentally. I decided the best way to go about this, was to cover eva foam with the fabric. In this tutorial I’ll go over how I created armor with the use of eva foam and spandex. Here I will break down step by step how made Nero’s shoe armor. You can use the techniques shown for your own project!

Happy #wipwednesday Some things are moving along now. I did the main carving of the sword on Saturday. I'm waiting for the rest of my materials to arrive before I can do any more. I'm planning to have a mixture of carving and 2mm craft foam for the details. I also spent some time on Christmas day restitching the beaded hair chains to the ribbon. I don't want the chains to become tangled in the hair. So I've stitched them to some organza ribbon. I was commissioned this summer to make a custom character kigurumi. I've made two for myself but this would be the first time I'd be making one for someone else. They requested #filo from #Riseoftheshieldhero . I love the show and wanted to do best birb girl some justice. I used two kinds of blizzard fleece from @joann_stores as well as a couple of the felt squares. I used @simplicity_creative_group 8276 and then created all the custom details myself. I used #6dembroidery to digitize the eyes I drew in #gimp then used my @husqvarnaviking #DesignerDiamondDeluxe to embroider the eyes onto a piece of felt. I used #robisonanton embroidery thread and @pellonprojects tear away stabilizer. The kigu was sewn on my #Opal670 machine using #gutermann thread. Other embroidered details are satin stitched freehand on my Opal. The kigu closed in front with snap tape and features rib knit cuffs.
