Iris didn't know what to expect when she walked into her small bookstore to start her shift that Friday morning, but she definitely wasn’t expecting what she had walked in too.
The books, normally neatly tucked into the oak wood book shelves, were now strewn across the soft beige carpet. Faux plants that were once decorating the spiral staircase now shoved over, cracked plant pot pieces gathered at the bottom of the carpeted steps.
Shocked, the brunette girl stormed upstairs to her office to check the security cameras. She walked into the office, which surprisingly hadn't been ruined; the photos on the window sill were still carefully placed, files and extra books still piled up on the desk next to her computer.
As she took her seat and loaded up the security footage, it seemed to have all been erased. "Huh.." the girl whispered to nobody in particular, only for her confused whisper to be answered by a scarily familiar voice. "Confused, sweet girl?"
The door slowly shut revealing Isaiah Ross, notorious bully, serial cheater, player, and had been in jail twice before his sixteenth birthday. Now 29, his once blond hair is now dyed black with a few dark purple streaks that peeped out in the yellow-white light that lit the small office. His navy blue eyes pierced through the younger girls own bright green ones, he had an eyebrow slit in his right brow, and a piercing in his left.
Isaiah stepped toward the desk, placing his hands onto the edge of it and leaning down to the girl’s height. "Miss me?" The man said, a cocky smirk gracing his thin pink lips. "What the- No, I thought- Were you not dead? You were supposed to be dead. " The girl stuttered in a mixture of confusion, shock, and annoyance. "Nope, that was a rumour, baby." He said smugly, Iris groaned in annoyance as she stood up, still quite shocked. She leaned forward and pried Isaiah's hands off her desk, which he raised in mock surrender as he stepped back. "Why are you here?" She snapped. Isaiah stared at her chest as her breasts pushed up from her arms now being crossed. "I asked a question." She snapped again, making Isaiah snap out of his lustful daydream, "Oh, yeah, I was just.. in town." He mutters, rubbing the back of his neck, a telltale sign he wasn't telling the truth. "You've always been a terrible liar, you know that?" Iris mumbled under her breath sarcastically, mostly to herself, as she stepped past him and down the spiral staircase.
Isaiah was quick to follow, and catch up, his hand grabbing her arm and pulling her back. "Where do you think you're going, sweet girl?" He spoke sternly, Iris felt a tingle in her lower stomach that she quickly tried to push down as she turns to face him yet again, "To clean my store, that you ruined." She said bluntly. The black haired boy put a hand to his heart in fake hurt at her blunt tone, but a smirk played at his lips as he followed her down the steps.
The green eyed girl went to the back of the store, getting a broom then returning back to the cracked flower pots and starting to clean up, humming quietly to herself as she tries to ignore the man stood behind her, staring straight through her from behind.
"Gonna ignore me, hm?" Isaiah teased as he walked up behind her, taking the broom out her hands and throwing it to the side. "Yep." Iris walked away, starting to pick up the books off the floor. Isaiah, yet again, walked up behind her, this time grabbing her waist. "Hey, get the fuck off me!" She yelped in surprise, turning around to shove at his chest, which did absolutely nothing. "Not until you speak to me, sweet girl. Why won't you talk to me? What did I do to you?" Iris rolled her eyes at his concerned tone, knowing it was all just an act. "Stop playing dumb, just because I didn't date you in high school doesn't mean you need to chase me down your entire life to try conquer your request of fucking me. Not gonna happen." She said harshly, making Isaiah roll his eyes. "Harsh." He muttered before continuing in a normal voice, "Cmon, let me take you for a drink. Just one, and if you don't like me by the end of our little date, I'll leave you alone forever." The man said with an even bigger smirk, his pale skin glistening in the light. "Absolutely not." Iris said firmly, the man raised an eyebrow, “I’ll leave you alone forever, though.” He repeats, stepping back slightly as the small girl shoved past him. She paused for a moment at the bottom of the stairs before turning to him with a raised eyebrow and a curious look. “Forever?” She repeats in a soft tone, and Isaiah hummed in response, “Yup, forever.” Iris took a moment, weighing the pros and cons, until she finally nodded in agreement. “One date. Right after I’ve cleaned my store.” She declared, Isaiah nodded then took a seat on the second step, watching her clean up the mess he made mere hours before.
After 5 minutes, Isaiah was already bored. He stood up and wandered around the small bookstore, and eventually he gets to Iris’s office and walks in. Being unsupervised, he immediately starts rooting through the things in the girls drawers like a curious child. While snooping, he comes across a locked diary. Before he could try open it, or find the key, Iris walks into the office. He tucked the diary into his jacket subtly, before smiling in faux innocence at Iris. “You’re still a terrible liar.” The brunette quipped, “Why are you in my office, and what did you take?” She continues, “I didn’t take anything, I was just looking around.” Iris rolled her eyes and scoffed, “Okay, well, I’m done cleaning. We can go on that dumb date now, then you can leave forever.”
