Yulma Week - Postponed for 2024!

Hi everyone! I haven’t posted an update on this blog in a while, but wanted to share that Yulma Week will be postponed until Spring 2025. I really teetered on whether I could pull it off this year, but due to some personal obligations and health issues, I’ll be holding off on for now. Hoping to create more Yulma stories soon, though! I really apologize to those who were hoping for it, but please expect an update about prompts in January 2025. ^^ Thanks! -Faerie

We haven’t all been together in so long…” She trailed off, her violet eyes flickering to Kanda. However, Kanda didn’t say anything, the alpha averting his gaze.

His expression was earnest — yearning and filled with hope. “I want to be with you.”

Kanda grit his teeth, hearing the tension in his jaw as he pushed another tree branch out of the way. They’d been walking for hours in the woods after eradicating the akuma they were chasing. But the fight had them so turned around, he wasn’t sure where the town was—or even a road.

“You saying ‘we’re lost’ is not helping us find our way back to town.”

“Aha!” Alma announced triumphantly as he followed the path Kanda cleared through the undergrowth. “So, you do admit it!” Kanda rolled his eyes. “Alma, not now,” he snapped.

It wasn’t the first time he had avoided Alma, and it’s not like Alma would take it that personally. He tended to bounce back swiftly and had done so ever since they were children. Sure, he might whine about it for a few days — but he would get over it. Kanda just needed space. Rain poured harder, Kanda’s attention turning toward the window. In the glint of the lamplight, he thought he saw something — pink and ivory, petals soft. An impression of flowers from long ago. “They’re called lotuses.” He sucked in a breath, the ghostly echo of that person’s voice ringing in his ears. Sneering to himself, Kanda turned from the window and sat on the edge of his bed, the mattress thin and the blankets stiff. Lowering his face, he ran his hands through his hair. He hated this.

She turned to Kanda. “Should we look around?” Kanda didn’t answer at first. He was still scanning the woods, his focus lingering on the trees — the low fog, the shadows. Shapes of darkness that blended together, that for months now had haunted his mind… “Yuu, help!” A chill threatened to ripple down his spine, nausea curdling inside him as horrific memories threatened to resurface. Kanda straightened his posture, exhaling. He turned to Lenalee. “Fine,” he finally answered. “Go with Toma. I’ll head north.” Lenalee pursed her lips, worried. “Kanda, are you sure you’ll be okay?” she asked. “After last time—” “I’ll be fine,” Kanda snapped. “Just keep your fucking eyes out.” Lenalee exhaled through her nose, but didn’t say anything more. Instead, she turned to Toma. “Come on — let’s go this way.” They split up, Kanda starting north as he wandered farther into the woods. He was careful to keep his steps light, the earth soft beneath him as a few puddles remained. Periodically, water and mud would splash, but he remained unbothered, his mind alert as he constantly searched the shadows for any signs of movements. For any monstrosities, abominations— Vampires. The word alone sent a flurry of something fearsome throughout him. Disgust, hatred — Kanda had been an exorcist for years now. An extension of the Church, with the purpose to hunt down and kill such unholy creatures. Kanda had never held any remorse for his actions, either. After all, vampires were mindless, bloodthirsty demons. Wicked and cursed to damnation, with no sense of their humanity left. They were only killers who took humans without a second thought. Kanda had learned this well enough.
