I'm not mad about people talking about swift and her album on social media. That comes with the territory of being on social media. I am, however, LIVID that for the entire day 9 out of 10 of the articles being pushed to me on my News Feed were about Swift. With all the bullshit going on right now, why the hell is 'PoP sTaR mAkEs a MuSiC' somehow the most important thing to cover to THAT degree????

Actually, I think that's unlikely in this case. Anya is confirmed to be 5 years old and 99.5 cm. This doesn't just make her short when compared to her older classmates, but worryingly small for her age since it's closer to the healthy height average of a three year old than a five year old, which makes Becky's thoughts about her looking like a baby make sense in retrospect.

Part of me suspects that her stunted growth is a side effect of the experimentation she endured, and she is going to spend the rest of her life far shorter than average as a result of the physical trauma of being a test subject.

My inner etymology nerd is baffled with this poll.

Been endlessly fascinated for a while now with a few scenes in Spy x Family which seem to hint at the fact that along with her Telepathy, Anya shows signs of having Empathy powers too. They don't happen often, but there are a number of times when Anya is shown to have a reaction to someone else experiencing intense emotions near her, which usually confuses, overwhelms, and frightens Anya.

One of the earliest examples of this we see is the apology between Damian and Anya, where Anya is shown reacting when Damian is struggling to bottle up his emerging emotions towards her;

It's not Damian's thoughts that Anya's responding to here. It's his emotional state. It's pretty clear Anya has no idea what the hell is going on or what these emotions are since she is FIVE YEARS OLD and spent four of those five years isolated and studied in a lab and thus not interacting with other people beyond being a test subject, but she seems to sense Damian's feelings. This is a pretty big deal because while they are somewhat connected, thoughts and feelings are NOT the same. Thus Telepathy- the power to read minds- is not technically the same as Empathy- the power to sense another person's emotional state.

I don't think Anya's Empathy power is quite as strong or as clear cut as her Telepathy, though. Near as I can tell, she only seems to really get echos of especially intense emotions instead being able to get a read on people's emotional states any time she wants to like she does with their thoughts. I also don't think that she is fully aware that she has this ability, since she always seems confused when it does happen. We actually see this more clearly in the scene where she saved Ken from drowning in the hospital pool.

When Ken falls in the water, he isn't thinking anything at the time. He's in a state of fear and shock too overwhelming TO think, and Anya picks up on that from quite a distance away and freezes on the spot to look around to see where it is coming from, once again sensing the intense emotional state rather than hearing the thoughts formed in his head.

When Ken DOES finally start thinking, that's what gives Anya the information she needs to help him, but this only comes after his shock wears off and he begins to realize he is completely helpless.

Being a child, Anya probably doesn't realize that thought and emotion are two different beasts, and that the fact that she is capable of sensing emotional states like this. The lab she grew up in seems like a cold, impassive environment where the scientists were all extremely detached from her, so this part of Anya's power was likely never known to them, and thus never explained to her the way her telepathy was. And I personally find this incredibly exciting, since it means there is potential for growth with Anya's powers.

Anya is extremely young. Her brain isn't anywhere near fully developed yet. It's entirely possible that as she gets older, her powers will continue to grow and develop as her brain does and she will be able to do more things she hadn't previously been able to before, and I find that possibility incredibly exciting.

Separating them like this made me take notice of all the different flowers on display here, which I missed when looking at the drawing as a whole.

Yor has a bouquet of red roses and baby's breath. I don't think there is a living, breathing person who is not aware that red roses symbolize romantic love, but it's less known that baby's breath represent innocence, sweet beauty, and pure of heart. This combination is often used in bridal bouquets or for valentine's day gifts, but I noticed something curious when I took a closer look at the bouquet.

With roses just as the colors often carry different messages, the number of flowers received often changes the meaning as well. Traditionally, it's common to receive TWELVE roses from a romantic partner, which conveys the message "Be Mine." but as near as I can count, Yor is holding FOURTEEN roses. This changes the message to "Be Proud," instead, offering a gentle encouragement to the often insecure Yor.

Anya is wearing a boutonniere of white periwinkle flowers, which are used to symbolize "Happy Memories." Interestingly, boutonnieres and bouquets like the ones Anya and Yor are showcasing are typically presented as gifts, and were traditionally used as a means of warding off evils and protecting the recipients from harm. which means SOMEONE has a vested interest in keeping Yor and Anya safe, but is doing so through clandestine methods. The flower Franky is wearing is EXTREMELY interesting to me. It appears to be a Begonia, which is used to symbolize peaceful alliances, but the way it is presented also seems to be based on the Remembrance Poppy, which are artificial flowers commonly worn on lapels as a tribute to the soldiers who died during war.

Conan started to suspect Loid is a spy about two hours ago, due to context clues, and Loid picked up on Conan's oddities in the same timeframe. The two of them are currently in a tense mental stand off that has Anya at the edge of her seat. Ai knew about Anya's powers after about ten minutes of talking to her due to having a few ins in the circle of scientists who experimented on Anya, but says nothing. Half to protect the poor kid, and half because she thinks it's hilarious Conan hasn't clocked it yet even with Anya pretty blatantly reading his mind. Ran has adopted Yor as her instructor. Loid is going to enact one of his plans to erase Kogoro from existence if he sees him clock Conan one more time. Kaito is about to make Anya his apprentice as she shares his 'for the LOLZ' mentality and didn't rat him out to anyone even though she knows he's there.

These kids from Spy x Family chapters 95 + 96 make me SO HAPPY.

They're not being treated as a joke, and none of the teachers are suggesting that same sex couples are inappropriate. It's just a cute little acknowledgement that kids deserve the space to figure themselves out without being shamed for it.

This was absolutely brilliantly done.

Because this isn't Anya's most closely guarded secret being discovered by accident without her consent. She made an active, CONSCIOUS choice to tell Damian that she is a telepath. Something that she was previously terrified would lead to her being hated if someone happened to find out. And throughout this little prom arc we slowly get fed the reasons that lead up to this moment. First being that while she initially saw Damian as a bratty, self centered jerk, Anya has slowly come to know him better and see a more noble and compassionate boy under all that cocky bluster.

Then there's the way Damian also mentions to her that many people try and use him in order to get close to his parents-- which she sees for herself when the other girls start swarming him demanding to dance-- hence his suspicions of her own intentions.

And the finally is the fact that, despite his own admission that his parents barely acknowledge he's alive, Damian still loves and admires them and is desperate to earn their affection.

In fact, during the Damian quiz, it's implied that Anya didn't use her powers to figure out who Damian's most beloved person was, because she already knew the answer just from knowing him. It's the only question we don't see her telepathic 'sparkles' or hear her listening on the answer.

It happened slowly and subconsciously, but despite the unflattering first impression Anya has come to care about Damian. She doesn't want him to be hurt or sad. She doesn't want to use him or take advantage of him the way she sees others try to (and the way a small subset of the fandom accuses Anya of trying to since they can't seem to grasp that Anya is at most six years old and hasn't thought as far as to how the fallout of Twilight's mission will affect the Desmonds). And she understand him a lot better than she ever realized. She trusts him with her deepest, darkest secret despite her fear and the uncertainty because she genuinely WANTS to be honest with Damian. It's her olive branch to him, after HE was vulnerable with her time and again when it comes to his family and his fear of letting others close after so many people tried to use him for his name.

Because more than anyone else, Damian has noticed her, and how intuitive she is of the thoughts of others.

And despite denying or deflecting it time and time again-- including intentionally bombing a few questions in this chapter to avoid standing out too much after Damian called her out again-- Anya FINALLY came clean to him about her powers.

And, of course, he thought she was messing with him, which in turn pissed HER off because this is her biggest secret, dammnit! XD

But despite Damian's refusal to believe her ATM, this isn't something Anya can take back, and Damian is perceptive enough of Anya that sooner or later he's going to realize that Anya was being honest with him. And it'll be a wild ride to see where things go from there.

Willow is both a character who has been near and dear to my heart since her introduction AND tragically a character who people didn't talk about all that often, so I had a lot of time to sit in my corner with my thoughts about her. I am still massively delighted by the fact that Willow's passion for flying was hinted at waaaaaaay back in Season 1 in Escape of the Palismen before finally taking center stage during Any Sport in a Storm, when she showed some genuine technical know how about palismen while admiring Owlbert;

I'm pretty sad the team didn't have the time to show more little tidbits this way in season 2 due to Disney cutting the show short and them needing to squeeze everything they could out of the time they had left since little clues like this make rewatches much more fun and rewarding, but the fact that they started teasing this at the beginning of season 1 shows just how much thought was put into a lot of stuff some fans still claim were impulsive decisions.
