Angus & Julia Stone - Big Jet Plane (Bruno Be Remix)
I am incredibly obsessed with this version of the song, and really think it should have been made like this originally.
Loving the electropose YouTube channel - it always makes work more fun!

Imperial Graduation 2014 - The end of an era #impgrad
So I clearly haven't really gotten this blogging thing down yet. I seem to be failing at keeping my resolution (surprise surprise - whatever happened to that diet from 2011?). Well, I'm here now.
I felt the need to write about one of the most significant moments in my life - the day I graduated with a Masters from Imperial College London. So many thoughts, so many emotions, and so difficult to pen them down, but I will try. My first graduation was good, but I didn't have the opportunity to graduate with close friends, something that made me look forward to this one even more. Also, how many people can say they graduated at Royal Albert Hall? The one downside of being a truly international course, is that many people left, which also made it a great time to meet many dear (and some not so dear) friends, and get acquainted with their lovely families too!
Friends, families, loved ones and smiles all around - all in all it was a day to remember. Proud mums and dads, awkward paparazzi taking photos from odd angles made for some amazing and many unattractive photos. It was a day that made me thankful for all the things I have - most of all the people in my life. I feel like what I say next is the cliché Oscar winner line, but I really couldn't have done any of this without the support of all the people I love. My parents, who supported me through this tumultuous journey, the look of pride on my dad's face was something I will never forget; the most incredible set of friends I could have hoped for, that I will surely keep for life; and my boyfriend, who flew all the way from Kenya just to see me in my cap and gown.
We have come to the end of an era, which always makes me reflect. I may not be rich and famous (haha, as if), but I have made millions in friendship currency, the most important of all. Imperial, thank you for giving me one of the best years of my life, and for introducing me to the best people I have ever met.

Humanity Lives, in London too!
So, it’s been a while since I wrote. This was my new year’s resolution, and like every other year, I seem to be doing a fantastic job of keeping it! Sidebar: Just because you have a job now does not mean you forget to write. That’s me telling myself that I should stick to what I promised myself I would do, like go to the gym, eat healthier (who am I kidding) and write my blog. Numbers 1 and 2 are never going to happen, especially since my new-found addiction of Marks & Spencer chocolate chip brioche rolls that are going down like sweets. No seriously, I have a problem. Somebody take them away from me!
Now that I’ve finished my weekly rant (it’s usually more often than that), I need to share a thought that I had this morning when I was on the tube. One thinks of London as a bustling city where people go about their daily lives without caring about anything that’s happening beyond their noses. Most days, chivalry goes out the window, and is promptly replaced by the sense of urgency (read paranoia), as if the destination would disappear if reached at 18:00:01.
Don’t get me wrong, the hustle-bustle is one of the things that I love about London, but it does seem that it has come at a cost. Just as I was about to dismiss chivalry completely, I saw not one, but three acts of kindness in one day. The first was by a man who offered to help a lady carry her baby in a stroller up the stairs. She could not have been more grateful. The same man also allowed me to tap my Oyster card before him, and this does NOT happen often. The second, was by a ‘suit’ (in the words of Mozzie from White Collar), who helped an old man carry one of his suitcases from the train to the street, and the third was by a lady at the Job Centre. I had gone there this morning to get my NI number sorted out, and saw many people struggling at their interviews because they could barely speak a word of English. This obviously happens often, as I heard a barrage of loud and slow English being spoken by the interviewers, as if that was going to help. The language barrier is massive, and the Job Centre employees have in turn become impatient with people, although I can’t really blame them entirely. Cutting to the chase, there was a lovely old lady outside who saw three people struggling to communicate that they needed to get in to be interviewed. She heard them speak to each other in Italian and immediately rushed over to ask them what the problem was. How lucky they were to find someone who was completely bilingual! She then went in with them and acted as an interpreter at the interview for all three of them, all out of the kindness of her heart. This is definitely something you don’t see often anywhere!
Faith in humanity – restored. That’s another thing I absolutely love about this city – the constant element of surprise, be it pleasant or otherwise.

As you can see, we are big fans of covers at Ramblr HQ! If you haven't done so already, subscribe to boyceavenue on YouTube. Alejandro (Gerard Butler doppelgänger) has the voice of an angel, and makes it hard to believe that this is originally a One Direction song!

LONDON LOVING
Imperial was the start of something new - it was like the next book in the series of my life that I couldn't wait to read. I moved to Wood Lane Studios with no expectations, thinking that I would just work hard during the year, graduate and find a job somewhere. Little did I know that I would find the second love of my life here - the city - and the most incredible people I have ever met to experience it with.
It's been a year and a half full of ups and downs, tears and laughs, and I've shared these with some of the best people I have ever met. Living in London still didn't change the fact that I was a tourist to many parts, which made it exciting to visit new places, as well as share my favourite spots with friends. As the year went on, we progressed from the more 'mainstream' places to the lesser known ones, which made us feel less like tourists, but in reality, you are a permanent tourist in London even it is your home.

That feeling, the one of knowing that there is always excitement around the corner, is what made me fall in love with this city.

THE IMPERIAL LIFE
Tumblr media
When I moved to London - with my suitcase and no place to live - I was already well versed with the city, having spent countless summers gallivanting around Oxford Street and the likes with my family. This time, I was gallivanting by myself, living like a nomad, with no clue what I was going to do. I had just applied to universities (King's, Nottingham and Imperial) to do my Masters, so now it was just a waiting game. On the 28th of August, I had my first interview for Imperial, and was subsequently waitlisted. That's what you get for applying in August for a course that begins in September!
Ten days before the course started, I received the call. I had been accepted to study Strategic Marketing at Imperial. I could barely contain my excitement - the idea of being a Masters student in London was so appealing. It was an offer that I just could not refuse.
I then moved to White City, and so it began - one of the best years of my life.

The Yellow Brick Road to London
Tumblr media
If you had told me five and a half years ago that I would be sitting here writing this blog in London, I really would not have believed you. But it is true. Here I sit in the heart of Fulham finally writing my first post which was my New Years resolution for 2013. Go figure!
It would however be unfair for me to not pay homage to my alma mater before I begin talking about London being the best city in the world.
September 2008 was when I first set foot in the UK as a Politics and American Studies student at the main campus of the University of Nottingham. After a tumultuous rollercoaster year, I decided that British and European Politics was not for me, so I moved to Jubilee Campus to study Management (how boring and Indian of me!). After many tears, arguments and late nights, I realised that I had finally found my footing - the Business World.
Over the next three years, I met people that definitely fall under the 'friends for life' category. I was also introduced to the person who became the love of my life - of course I didn't know it then! We have now been together for almost four years and I can safely say that my love has only grown.
Tumblr media
Naturally there was some serious studying among the parties, late night conversations, gastronomical adventures and other randomness - but only a little, I promise.
It was extremely difficult to say goodbye to my friends in 2011, as they graduated a year before I did, so my last year in Nottingham began with a slightly bittersweet tone. After an amazing final year in this gorgeous apartment, it was finally time to say goodbye to my home of four years.
Tumblr media
And the rest, as they say, is history.
