Best scene in ‘The Last Olympian’
Still working on my LMK x PJO AU.
MK is a Monkey here because it’s like an imitation of the Achilles Curse or something.
Red Son didn’t look good with his hair up from my artstyle so I made it long.
Annabeth-Red Son
MK-Percy
Percabeth-SpicyNoodles.
Seaweed Brain-Noodle Boy
Wise Girl-Fire Boy

He’s Paul so no-
Idk who the hell Gabe’s gonna be, but sure as hell it ain’t Pigsy.
I finally finished Percy Jackson and the Olympians, now I’m finding Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo.
Now I can update this AU.
Percy= MK
Poseidon= Wukong
Sally= Tang
Chiron= Tripitaka (I’m guessing like Golden Cicada is Kronos or something-)
Annabeth= Red Son
Athena= DBK (Since Annabeth’s father might’ve dabbled in aircraft practice, so I’m putting PIF as her dad, not sure who’s Red Son’s stepfather, probably just some random character I’ll make up)
Luke= Bai He
Hermes= Mayor (Yes I changed it)
Zeus= Jade Emperor (Reason? Both are like the head gods so it be wrong not to)
Hades= Macaque (You know why)
Grover= Mei
Dionysus= Zhu Bajie
Paul= Pigsy (It was a suggestion from someone and honestly yeah)
Bianca= Savage
Nico= Rumble
The rest of the characters are still a work-in progress. I’m still finding someone for Clarisse. I’ll probably reblog the AU information or smth

Look- Okay we can diss Pigsy for not hiring more employees for his business but-
I saw like- the same thing with Kung Fu Panda.
Y’know, a film that is also heavily inspired by Chinese Culture? Like I know they get some things wrong- but isn’t it weird that two different studios decided on a father-son duo that both work in a restaurant and they’re the only employees of said restaurant?
I’m just wondering if that’s normal in China-

Looking back at this I probably should’ve specified I was going with Wukong and Macaque’s perspective on the whole situation.
Cause to everyone else, Macaque’s a little shit, and Wukong made mistakes and made up for it, meanwhile Macaque barely apologized.
So yeah, this whole discussion is being told in the perspective of the characters not my own perspective. I was emulating how each character was feeling at the moment through a discussion post. I think I might’ve slightly nailed it.
Though I personally wanna hug Wukong, get some therapy you wet sap of a monkey.
Needed to make this post because I keep seeing this-
Tumblr media
I keep seeing people mistake this scene where Macaque smiles at Wukong during the Specials as a sign that he forgives him.
No, he does not, he’s still trying to trust Wukong again. You can see it in the beach scene. They still bicker slighty after this scene, and during the beach scene, Macaque looks at Wukong briefly believing his words before doubting him again. Or at least still getting a bad feeling.
Macaque and Wukong are far from forgiving each other, they’re still trying to trust each other again. However Season 4 is pretty much a start.
Even though Wukong seems to like forgive Macaque, I’m pretty sure it’s because he just survived a series of self-loathing and guilt, he’s probably not fully recovered.
That being said again.
Tumblr media
This doesn’t prove Macaque forgave Wukong yet.
People who see this completely forget the conversation MK was having with Wukong.
Tumblr media
Prior to Macaque smiling at him, MK tries to lift Wukong’s spirits up, give him hope like Wukong did for him. Encourage him even. He makes a whole speech about getting Wukong back on his feet and becoming the Monkey King again.
Tumblr media
However, Wukong doubts it, so he looks to Macaque.
Again some people forget the whole context of this entire scene and just miss out on crucial details BECAUSE WUKONG ISN’T EVEN ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS HERE.
IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE WITH THE WHOLE ASS CONVERSATION-
Wukong knows that MK is his biggest fan, that MK looks to him with rose-tinted glasses, that to a fault, the kid sees too much good in Wukong, he WANTS to believe Wukong is good, Wukong knows that’s his one flaw about his view of him.
So he doesn’t take the staff immediately after MK encourages him, instead he looks to Macaque.
Why? Because he’s asking him, Macaque KNOWS Wukong. He knows Wukong far too much than probably Wukong himself. Macaque can see his faults, his mistakes, he knows Macaque HATES him. HATES the Monkey King, he’s honest about his doubts, his views on Wukong. Despite Azure’s praise, Macaque sees him for what he is.
Prior to this scene, Wukong was suffering with the curse of the scroll, reliving his mistakes and we know one of his mistakes that is most definitely going to play in his head is the scene where he broke off with Macaque. The scene where he yells at Macaque and seemingly destroys his friendship with him forever.
‘No that’s you! You’re the one always running off! Looking for more power! More sources of immortality! You’re the one who wouldn’t quit while we were ahead! Not the Great Sage! He’s always trying to drag everyone into his mess!’ Macaque was right. It was him that lost his sights on power, on why he was even gaining power in the first place, it was him who tried bigger and bigger until he couldn’t carry the load anymore. He’s the one who was reckless, not Macaque.
And he was right, he dragged Macaque into this. And only hurt him, the brotherhood and MK by dragging them into the mess he created. By letting MK fight his battles, by letting Macaque get injured over and over again just because he wanted him to help regardless of Macaque’s opinion on the matter. He dragged the Brotherhood into this false sense of justice and power that they ended up getting killed or sealed away.
He hurt them. He hurt them as the Monkey King. All he ever did as the Monkey King was hurt people. That’s why he looks to the one guy that can tell him, tell him honestly.
He asks the one guy that hates his guts, that has every right to hate his guts.
If it was alright for him to BE that guy again.
The reckless, egotistical, self-centered Monkey King again. He asks Macaque, who so negatively views Monkey King’s role as a hero if he should BE that hero again.
He asks Macaque if MK is right. This time, This time he’ll listen. Just tell him if it’s okay for him to BE that guy, if he needs to take a step back, he will no questions asked.
Instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Macaque smiles at him.
He assures Wukong that he’s okay with it. Yes he can be that guy, flaws and all. He’s willing to give him that chance.
Macaque was giving Wukong not only permission but assurance that Wukong is allowed to be that hero again. The one that everyone adores and loves and the one that people NEED right now.
Only then does Wukong stand and take the staff once more.
Macaque and Wukong still need to trust each other again sure.
But this whole scene is just Wukong at his DEEPEST and LOWEST he’s ever been. The usually loud, cheery and expressive Monkey King was reduced to the unusually quiet, sad and barely even audible Wukong who had been beaten down by his guilt and shame. He can barely look at MK…he can barely raise his voice. And judging by how quiet he was he might’ve been crying until his voice gave out. Paired with Macaque holding grudges yet still reminiscing their good times together. Seeing THAT must’ve been so disturbing for him.
Again, Macaque has this view of Wukong. The same way he notices MK’s despair and loss of light, he notices Wukong’s change in personality. However, unlike MK, there’s a chance Macaque has never SEEN this side of Wukong. He’s always seen Wukong so confident and unbreakable. So much so he doesn’t hold back against him at all. But seeing THIS must’ve done something to him- like scared him, disturbed him.
And now he’s looking at him like that? He’s so low on self-esteem that he looks to the one guy that hates his guts more than anyone else for permission to be that guy again? It probably frightened him more than anyone ever realized.

That last post made me wonder if DBK ever blamed Wukong for the Brotherhood fallout-
Like we don’t even know the concrete timeline LMK is taking anymore- Like did the Samadhi Fire happen before or after Macaque’s death, or if Wukong sealing the Brotherhood was after or before the Samadhi Fire.
Like I don’t think he would entirely blame Wukong for the War on Heaven. Hell he agreed to it. And technically that was the reason he even met his wife as much as he won’t admit it.
And from the start, it shows that DBK (other than Macaque) is one of the only people who never really placed Wukong on a pedestal. As seen with the flashback with The Brotherhood discussing the War on Heaven.
DBK didn’t really have high expectations for Wukong- but it’s most likely because Azure said it that he went along with it because DBK thinks highly of Azure. (He was even the one who suggested Azure be on the throne)
I think DBK only hates Wukong for the Mountain cus the rest of the Flashbacks, he’s absent from any Brotherhood meetings and isn’t the one chewing Wukong out during the Samadhi Fire sealing. So makes me think that…he doesn’t entirely blame Wukong for the Brotherhood situation.

In that perspective yes it’s everyone else’s fault.
But in Wukong’s perspective it IS his fault. You can see it in Season 3 that he feels guilty for leaving MK to deal with LBD himself.
This is likely because HE is always the one blamed for every single mistake anyone else does. Because HE is always in the wrong. Something that JTTW does have a touch on. Yes Wukong isn’t entirely to blame for everything but in Wukong’s eyes he is.
Also what I mean is.
Macaque has always known Wukong, even in the book he’s always seen as ‘Reckless’ ‘Egotistical’ ‘Too full of himself’ to even realize his faults. The whole Journey was all about that. ‘Redeeming’ Sun Wukong.
However even before the book noticed his faults, Macaque did first, except just like MK, he keeps looking through rose-tinted glasses and excusing Wukong’s behavior because that’s how much he cares.
As for the Brotherhood thing, you might be asking why I implied he might’ve thought everything was his fault.
Cause even though Azure might’ve influenced Wukong at the time, it was Wukong who brought them all together and mentioned a plan to overthrow the Emperor. Wukong being the Jade Emperor was a fantasy Azure made up. But it was Wukong who brought them all together and gave them the idea to overthrow the Jade Emperor right at that moment.
And as much as Azure is biased, there might’ve been some truth to it, that Wukong was actually the one taking the lead while the rest of the Brotherhood merely followed. Azure and the rest of the Camel Ridge Trio are more used to following orders, Yellow Tusk and Peng towards Azure and Azure was a Celestial Guard.
Macaque is more used to following Wukong’s lead, as seen in the cutscenes where DBK is usually seen fighting alone, the Camel Ridge Trio fight as a group or a duo and Macaque and Wukong are always seen fighting together back-to-back, side-by-side.
Sure Azure might have instigated the concept of Wukong leading but Wukong was probably the one who took the lead because a good portion of the Brotherhood are used to obeying orders than making them.
Which would have made Wukong’s guilt even worse.
And if you factor in the Ink’s purpose, it’s meant to break you down and prey on your weaknesses, since Wukong has too much guilt buried deep inside him he can’t help but blame himself.
Which is why again, he looks to Macaque. Cause in his perspective he ruined everything by not listening to him more in the past. That he didn’t NEED to be stronger. But he ignored him, pushed him to the side so much he became this. In Wukong’s eyes, Macaque is only a jerk to him because Wukong deserves it. That’s how low he was at the moment.
Needed to make this post because I keep seeing this-

The funny thing about Traffic Light Trio is that though Red Son is usually the middle and being sandwiched by the other two, the one in the middle is supposed to be MK.
Cause y’know…

People think that Tripitaka might be baffled by an Aroace Wukong, but my interpretation is-
That Tripitaka might think that Wukong is slowly turning into a monk- albeit not Tripitaka’s kind of Monk, but still a monk.
Like, Tripitaka is rubbing off on him-

Something to tell fans.
LMK is not gonna follow JTTW to a script.
If it did then the show would be rated 18+ instead.
It’s a cartoon directed for kids and considering China’s very STRICT cartoon censorship which BANNED bloody, vulgar and violent cartoons from being aired, meaning you need to take creative liberties in order to sustain the cartoon you’re making.
Especially since LMK is being broadcasted in CHINA first. (Since it is a sort of adaptation/fanfiction of the original legend)
I’ve seen people get SO mad at Macaque’s inaccuracy and shit, but what about, Wukong, Sha Wujing, Zhu Bajie, Tang Sanzang, Ao Lie, Red Son, DBK, Princess Iron Fan and a bunch of different villains that aren’t completely accurate to the original?
Wukong was a murderer.
Sha Wujing ate Tripitaka’s last Nine Lives yet is still friendly with them.
Zhu Bajie was more than a flirt, he was straight up a pervert.
Tang Sanzang was a pathetic human whose only character development was him not falling off his horse every 3 seconds and a pathetic human who always got kidnapped that at this point the a fly could kidnap him.
Ao Lie was…not really a very impactful character since he doesn’t do much in the story?
Red Son was an adult when he met Wukong, not a child and he kidnapped Tripitaka so that he and DBK would eat him.
I don’t know if OSP is right, but apparently DBK and Iron Fan are divorced. And PIF was a more redeemable character.
DBK loves Red Son to the point he always remembered when his birthday was.
LBD wasn’t powerful as shit and she sure as hell didn’t have a henchman.
And The Camel Ridge Trio weren’t even sworn brothers with Wukong, the only one accurate was DBK. Macaque also wasn’t a sworn brother, that was a theory made by someone else years after the book was published.
And with the Camel Ridge Trio, Azure wasn’t the leader, it was Peng.
Obviously the show’s inaccurate to the original, what the hell did you expect with Macaque?!

I don’t know why, but my brain made up a speculation theory that Ao Lie might’ve accidentally killed the Pilgrims with the Samadhi Fire.
Honestly it could explain things-
I don’t know if I should post it because that idea is just based on speculation and VERY little facts.

My favorite thing about MK is that he can do fucking ANYTHING. He can use Monkey King's powers, he can use Macaque's powers, he could probably use anyone's powers if he bothered to really learn; and yet he just stays a silly little guy. Really, he's the monkey kid.
Something that you pointed out that people don’t really realize is that MK can use Macaque’s powers, as he did for a brief moment…
Tumblr media
And since Macaque’s whole thing here was to drain MK’s powers I’m not sure if he would’ve given him a portion of it.
It’s either Macaque’s powers are a darker reflection of Wukong’s or MK can do anything beyond even Wukong’s comprehension.
Because I’ve yet to actually SEE Wukong use Macaque’s powers. When MK can use Macaque’s for a brief moment.
