Chiiwala, Myrtle Street. Lomo LC-A+. Ilford HP5 Plus (developed at 1600.)
Chiiwala claim to have their origins in 1920's India. The store on Myrtle Street is a relatively new addition to the area and I visited last month for something different to eat.
Their siganture drink is Karak Chaii of which I was offered a taste as the lady behind the counter knew this was my first visit. Despite this I decided on the mint tea and a breakfast which consisted of beef sausages, baked beans and an omlette.

Dream, Sutton Manor. Lomo LC-A+. Ilford HP5 Plus (developed at 1600.)
Whilst indulging another hobby I went for a walk after dark up to Sutton Manor. It is now the site of Dream, a public sculpture of a young woman's elongated head. Her eyes are closed in meditation. The work was funded by Channel 4 (via the Big Arts Project) and Arts Council England and was completed in 2009. It is visible from the M62 motorway.
Despite the 1600 iso setting it is perhaps unsurprising that the shots turned out blurry. This will be another site to revisit at a more sensible time.

Open decks night, Artefact. Lomo LC-A+. Ilford HP5 Plus (developed at 1600.)
For a few months Coffee And Turntables have been running "open decks" nights at Artefact. The rules are simple. Five songs of fifteen minutes per spot. As a result you hear a wide variety of genres and the tea is not bad either. Beer was available but I was driving.
Perhaps a Lomo LC-A+ set to 1600 iso was not the best choice for this venue. I may go back and try some Ilford Delta 3200 in an SLR.

Philharmonic Hall. Lomo 135BC. Expired Truprint 200.
The current Philharmonic Hall is the second building to occupy the site on Hope Street. It was built in the "Streamline Moderne" style and work commenced in 1937 after a compromise with the Liverpool Corporation who initially wanted a multi-purpose venue. It is a grade two listed building.
Today it hosts comedy and popular music shows in addition to being the home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic music society.

Experiment 625. Fed 4. Ilford XP2.
Experiment 625 is sandwich, coffee shop and bar on Lark Lane. It is named after a character in the Disney movie "Lilo and Stitch" and serves some rather tasty New York style sandwiches.
When i visited the sun was shining but the weather was cold so a nice cup of coffee was just what I needed. I will definitely be returning to work my way through the menu. The selection of beers also seemed impressive. I made a mental note to return for am evening.

Gaia by Luke Jerram (displayed at Norton Priory.) Nikon F65. Expired Kodak 400.
Gaia measures seven meters in diameter and is made up of 120dpi detailed NASA photos of the Earth. It is a travelling artwork that has been displayed in various locations. Whilst it was popular when displayed at Liverpool Cathedral in 2019 I was unable to visit with a camera. Therefore I made an effort when it was displayed at Norton Priory in Runcorn.
Gaia aims to replicate a phenomenon experienced by astronauts who observe Earth from space know as The Overview Effect. Common experiences relating to this are "appreciation and perception of beauty, unexpected and even overwhelming emotion, and an increased sense of connection to other people and the Earth as a whole." It has been noted bring about profound changes to a persons value system and self concept.

Picton Road Clock Tower. Fed 4. Ilford XP2.
The Clock Tower on Picton road was built in 1884 and designed by James Picton as a memorial to his wife Sarah Polley (to whom a dedication adorns one of the three plaques at the base of the tower.)
It was quite a dull day when i set off to take these shots and i was glad to have a 400 iso film loaded in the Fed 4.

Skaus, Allerton Road. Fed 4. Ilford XP2.
Skaus began serving their Scandi inspired foods in various pop-ups and The Baltic Market in 2017. They opened their first permanent home some years later on Allerton Road. The menu consists of seasonal fare and the coffee is first rate.
I used a light meter on my iPhone for these shots and found focusing a challenge. I also need to pay attention to making sure I take correctly aligned and straight shots!

Strawberry Field gates. Nikon F65. Expired Kodak 400.
Strawberry Field was a children's home operated by The Salvation Army up until 2005. It was opened to the public in 2019 and now consists of a shop, cafe and training centre.
The gates which stand on Beaconsfield Road have been a tourist attraction and place of pilgrimage for some years due to the Beatles song.
When io visited I was unable to go into the new facility due to a private function so all i could photograph was the gates.

92 Degree Coffee, Hope Street. Lomo LC-A+. Ilford HP5 Plus (developed at 1600.)
Hope Street was the first branch of 92 Degree Coffee I became aware of. Over the years they have expanded and I feel quite at home in all of their venues.
Whilst on a walk with the specific intention of taking photos for this here blog I stopped for a cup of their batch brew. There where a few cute dogs keeping their humans company (something that is not allowed in Costa) but I only managed to snap one.

Klopp artwork, Jordan Street. Lomo 135BC. Expired Truprint 200.
To say that Jürgen Klopp has been a successful manager for Liverpool FC would be an understatement. He was the first to deliver a Premier League title and has lead the reds to two Champions league final. News that he was going to leave at the end of this season was unexpected.
This street art tribute was created by graffiti artist Aske in 2018 is situated on the corner of Jordan Street and Jamaica Street in the Baltic Triangle.

Low light and night experiments. Lomo LC-A+. Ilford HP5 Plus (developed at 1600.)
My Lomo LC-A+ was another camera that was sent to be refurbished along with the Fed 4 and the Lomo 135BC. Unlike it's older cousin the LC-A the film sensitivity settings go up to 1600 iso. I decided to test these higher settings and the abilities of Ilford HP5 to be pushed by two stops. The results varied. I made a note to try this film and these settings in a manual camera or perhaps my Nikon F65.
