Since I’m full of hot takes today, all men aren’t trash

All men, cis, trans, and otherwise, are human. That makes them flawed and imperfect, just like the rest of us. Society is built for men, sure. There are privileges cishet white men will get that the rest of us will never, ever see. Some cishet men are terrible, terrible people. But there are terrible, terrible people of every colour, identity, and gender.

Some men are trash. Some men–and I would argue, most men, because I believe most humans in general aren’t as bad as the internet wants us to believe they are–are great. Some men are kind and strong and generous and hard working and loving and gentle and are doing their damnedest to make the world a better place.

Should men be aware of the privileges that come with the accident of their birth? Absolutely. Should men be actively anti-toxic masculinity and guide their fellow men towards better habits and healthier choices? Absolutely. Should a man, cis, trans, or otherwise be perfect in order to be valid, worthy of respect and love and happiness, and regarded as something more than trash? No. Because none of us are perfect and to expect absolute perfection from any one class of person in order to be valid is fucking ludicrous. All men aren’t trash. And if you think so, you can get right the fuck off my blog with the nazis, antisemites, racists, misogynists, homophobes and other groups of people with shitty opinions.

Before the season airs I’m just going to list my theories here in no particular order.

* Bean is intended to be the vessel for a dark god * Bean has non-human heritage (through her father) * Along the same lines, Zog is a merman (alternately, he’s some kind of other sea creature) * Elfo is pretending to be a troll in that picture with the hat * Ep 6 will be a big Reveal about Bean’s destiny. I’m guessing to do with her family lineage but not sure yet * We’re going to discover that there’s an underwater kingdom, atlantis style. Their symbol is the trident * We’ll find out that the current ruling party usurped power to take control of Dreamland * Derek is going to use a skillet as a weapon. You will pry this headcanon from my cold dead hands. * Elfo is going to change form into something * Merkimer will go to Bentwood to deal with the pig who’s taken his place. * Merkimer will change back to human (even if it’s temporary) * The Arch Druidess is originally from Steamland * The dream thing in Dreamland is controlled by sound. That’s how Dagmar was able to use the music box to control Bean’s dreams (also the first episode is titled “notes from the underground” which I think is a music reference) * Oona is going to help Bean escape from Steamland (maybe help her get there too) *I think Elfo is going to be given the opportunity to either turn on his friends or leave them and he’s going to be tempted.

History:

Formerly the eldest Tristesse daughter, Vesper gained a new start when he left Venterre for Zadith. There he was able to transition and learn magic, which he was surprised to have something of an affinity for. Many of his teachers suggested he pursue alchemy but he refused, despite excelling in sciences. It was a sore subject, as science was something he wanted to persue as a child but was not permitted to.

In his childhood, he was very clearly the favorite of the family. Pampered by his parents, until Amaryllis unintentionally snatched his spotlight away. Going from loved to shunned did a lot of damage, and his mother used his vulnerability against him. Her goal was to push him over the edge; and for him to take it out on Amaryllis. Eventually he does, picking a fight with his sibling that escalated quickly, ending with a scarred Amaryllis. Vesper was hit with their magic, but had no permanent physical damage. When Amaryllis disappears he feels victorious, but he soon realizes the truth about his parents. He comes out, and is disowned.

After the plague has stopped, he finds himself in Vesuvia, where it doesn’t take him very long to run into an Amaryllis who has no clue who he is. Having desired the chance for forgiveness all these years, he uses the opportunity to “start over” with them, conveniently omitting the more unsavory details of their shared past.

Finally drew this idea I’ve had since MerMay! 🌊 So my idea for how mermaids tattoo their tails is that they pull out their scales with tweezers. The skin underneath is white and when the scales grow back they’re black for a while before they develop the original color and iridescence. ♥︎sticker?♥︎
