RELIGION IN 2024-
Humanity everywhere is polarized and divided into clans, and the cause can be traced back to religion.
Polarization has existed since the beginning of time. My Acadian ancestors (Protestants) left Larochelle to cross to America around 1685 precisely because of the war between Catholics and Protestants.
In 2024, an example of conflicts between religions is the war between Israel (Judaism) and Palestine and Hamas (Muslims).
Yet religion should be a source of unity. Scientists even say that religion is a way of curing human depression by breaking down isolation. New generations of young people are said to be returning to religion.
Will the future of the world be more peaceful and united as young people turn to religion?

LA RELIGION EN 2024-
L’humanité partout sur la planète est polarisée et divisée en clans et on peut identifier la cause à la religion.
La polarisation existe depuis le début des temps. Mes ancêtres acadiens (des protestants) ont quitté Larochelle pour traverser en Amérique vers 1685 justement à cause de la guerre entre catholiques et protestants.
En 2024, l’exemple des conflits entre les religions est la guerre de l’Israël (Judaïsme) contre la Palestine et le Hamas (Musulman).
Pourtant la religion devrait être une source de rassemblement et d’unité. Les scientifiques disent même que la religion est une façon de guérir la dépression humaine en brisant l’isolement. On dit observer un retour des nouvelles générations de jeunes gens vers la religion.
Est-ce que l’avenir du monde sera plus pacifique et solidaire avec l'élan des jeunes pour la religion?

THE #METOO MOVEMENT -
Activists in the #MeToo Movement have just received a severe attack on their ideology as the main character, Harvey Weinstein, has had one of his two capability verdicts overturned. The judge in the 2020 trial allegedly made unacceptable errors in allowing the prosecutors to hear testimony from women who should not have been admitted.
The 2020 verdict was overturned, but not the second trial in 2022.
Is this the beginning of the end for #MeToo?

The newcomer to artificial intelligence is META AI.
Will the world become more peaceful and harmonious? What will become of our social heroes?
If there's one thing we can be sure of, it's that the whole planet is currently polarized by different ideologies, political conflicts, wars, and news media that have become creators of entertainment and partisanship!

WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY AND TAYLOR SWIFT -

The women's ice hockey match at Montreal's Bell Centre on Saturday, April 20, 2024, was historic according to all sports experts, but one particular element of the show also caught the eye and animated the crowd. It was PIXMOB's famous luminous bracelet!
This bracelet was created especially for artist TAYLOR SWIFT and launched on May 8, 2015, by PIXMOB. It was the start of a worldwide renown for the Quebec-based company.
"...More than two million people around the world have worn a bracelet created in Montreal. PixMob designed the bracelet, especially for Taylor Swift's world tour. This tour has changed our lives," Jean-Olivier Dalphond, a partner in the Montreal-based company, told Le Journal. "PixMob, which took part in the opening ceremonies of the Sochi Olympics and the Super Bowl halftime show, had never done anything on the scale of the pop star's 1989 tour. The Olympics and Super Bowl were one night, Taylor Swift's tour was 84 shows in 10 different countries..." explains Mr. Dalphond.

TAYLOR SWIFT EDITION 2024 IS BORN -
Taylor Swift's new album is here, and it's a surprise double album!
Indeed, the original THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT includes 16 songs, but there's a 15-song addition entitled: The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.
I've listened to both editions and I'm under the spell.
The music is softer than on Taylor's other albums, and the lyrics are truly thought-provoking poems that speak directly to contemporary life.
And what better way to salute Taylor Swift's new double album than with a party at the gym, in the company of faithful companions Ulysses, Argos, and Gus.

Anyone who thinks that politics is based on common sense is extremely naive...
Many people ask me what I think about Donald Trump's lawsuits, Justin Trudeau's government spending, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon's promise of a referendum, or Valérie Plante's dance!
My answer is always that politics is nothing more than theater, all over the world. In fact, all human life is theater.
One hopes that common sense will prevail, but theater always takes over.

LES GENS RICHES ET LES GENS PAUVRES EN 2024...
La discussion du souper du weekend le samedi 13 avril en fut encore une existentielle!
Le sujet: Quel est la différence entre les gens riches et les gens pauvres?
Selon-moi, la vie est une loterie!
Il n'y a pas de différence entre les riches et les pauvres au niveau de l'intelligence, sinon un destin.
Un homme riche m'a déjà dit que nous sommes comme des cailloux. Il y a de grosses roches (les gens riches) et des petits cailloux (les gens moins riches...).
La grosseur est un hasard.
Au final, il ne faut pas trop s'interroger sur notre destin. Si on est riche, profitons en, et si on est pauvre, disons nous qu'il y a toujours plus pauvre que nous...

RICH PEOPLE AND POOR PEOPLE IN 2024...
The discussion at the weekend supper on Saturday, April 13 was another existential one!
The topic: What's the difference between rich people and poor people?
In my opinion, life is a lottery!
There's no difference between rich and poor when it comes to intelligence, other than destiny.
A rich man once told me that we're like pebbles. There are big rocks (rich people) and little rocks (less rich people...).
The size is a matter of chance.
In the end, we shouldn't wonder too much about our destiny. If we're rich, let's make the most of it, and if we're poor, let's remember that there's always someone poorer than us...

WEEKEND READING -
This weekend of April 12 will be half rainy, half sunny...
I've got two captivating books for those rainy moments!
First: "CO-INTELLIGENCE - Living and working with AI", a very well-done book on Artificial Intelligence, a subject I'm passionate about.
Then I got the autobiography by a journalist Kara Swisher, who I followed a lot during the time of the ALL THINGS DIGITAL (Walt Mossberg) era: "BURN BOOK A tech love story". A book that highlights all the leaders in technology since the 1990s.

VIVRE L'HISTOIRE AU PRINTEMPS 2024 -
On peut conclure que la journée du 8 avril passera à l'histoire dans la mémoire de beaucoup de gens.
J'avais vécu l'éclipse de juillet 1972 en Gaspésie avec ma mère et j'aurai vécu l'éclipse de 2024.
J'ai été un peu surpris de la clarté malgré le soleil caché, mais on pouvait sentir un air froid.
Le spectacle a été de très courte durée et il fallait voir les gens retourner au bureau, ou ailleurs, après l'éclipse...
Je ne vivrai probablement la prochaine qui est prévue dans 50 ans!

LIVING HISTORY IN SPRING 2024 -
It's safe to say that April 8 will go down in history for many people.
I lived through the July 1972 eclipse in Gaspésie with my mother, and I'll have lived through the 2024 eclipse.
I was a little surprised by the clarity despite the hidden sun, but you could feel a chill in the air.
The show was very short-lived, and people had to return to their offices, or elsewhere, after the eclipse...
I probably won't experience the next one, which is due in 50 years!

Le printemps semble avoir gagné la guerre contre l'hiver et ce samedi 6 avril est un avant-goût de la semaine prochaine alors que le soleil sera avec nous et la température entre 11 et 16 Celsius.
Bien sûr, il fera peut-être un peu sombre lundi vers 15 heures 25, jour de l'éclipse, mais ce sera de courte durée...

L'AFFAIRE DANIEL LANGLOIS -

Le procès est commencé pour les meurtres de Daniel Langlois, 66 ans, entrepreneur québécois renommé et pionnier de l’animation 3D, et de sa compagne Dominique Marchand, 58 ans, tous deux assassinés le 1er décembre 2023 en Dominique, pays de l'archipel des Caraïbes.
Comme dans tous les récits polar (dont je suis un fan), le présumé coupable du début n'est pas toujours le vrai coupable du crime à la fin du récit. Il faut s'inspirer d'une série américaine comme ELSBETH sur CBS pour comprendre le raisonnement et admettre que la réalité dépasse toujours la fiction...
Les autorités de la Dominique ont accusé le voisin de Langlois, mais déjà des doutes surgissent.
Ce que l'on sait c'est que les deux victimes ont été criblées de balles et leur voiture incendiée, la façon de faire pour les règlements de compte du crime organisé. Mais rien n'est final au niveau de la preuve et des auteurs des deux meurtres.

The DANIEL LANGLOIS CASE -

The trial has begun for the murders of Daniel Langlois, 66, renowned Quebec entrepreneur and 3D animation pioneer, and his companion Dominique Marchand, 58, both murdered on December 1, 2023, in the Caribbean country of Dominica.
As in all detective stories (of which I'm a fan), the presumed culprit at the beginning is not always the true culprit of the crime at the end of the story. You have to look to an American series like CBS's ELSBETH to understand the reasoning and admit that reality always surpasses fiction...
The authorities in Dominica have accused Langlois's neighbor, but already doubts are arising.
What we do know is that both victims were riddled with bullets and their car was set on fire, the usual way to settle organized crime scores. But nothing is final about the evidence or the perpetrators of the two murders.

LA GUERRE DES SAISONS 2024-
La guerre entre le printemps et l'hiver 2024 fait penser à la guerre entre la Russie et l'Ukraine. Alors que l'on croit la paix sur son retour, les attaques-surprises viennent tout déstabiliser...
Au niveau du printemps, il devrait revenir ce samedi (6 avril) avec du soleil qui se poursuivra durant les jours suivants, mais comme dans toutes les guerres, rien n'est jamais vraiment prévisible!
