Hi! I was wondering if you could do a Larissa x autistic reader where they bring Larissa rocks all the time and one day Larissa asks why and reader just explains how they reminds them of Larissa and maybe points out something all the rocks have in common or how they found them all in a special place for Larissa and reader.
(reader doesn't have to be autistic.)
Here you are, Anon. I hope you like it.
You slipped into Larissa’s office, hand clutching a once cold rock, now warmed from your body heat. She was sitting behind her desk, laptop lighting up her face. You took a moment, admiring her, thankful for love you had.
You tapped your finger on her desk, waiting for her to look up at you. When she did, the smile that slid over her face was slow and sweet, feeling like home. She held out a hand towards you, waiting for you round the desk and perch beside her.
“This is a lovely surprise, darling,” she said once your hand was in hers.
“I have something for you,” you said.
The way she looked at you was full of such affection you felt your heat skip a beat. You held your closed fist out to her, waiting for her hold her hand out to receive it. You dropped the rock into her open palm, the surface faintly glittering in the light. It was perfect, such a wonderful rock, perfect for Larissa.
You waited with bated breath as she inspected it. Her thumb brushed over it, her smile softening.
“Thank you, darling, it’s lovely.”
She stood, wandering over to the small shelf she’d been displaying the rocks you brought her for as long as you’d been doing it. With careful fingers, she shifted a few over to place it down. You followed her, letting your eyes rove over the collection you’d brought her.
“You’ve brought me a lot of rocks,” she said and you felt your heart seize in that moment, “not that I don’t love them, but is there a reason?”
“I’m sorry, I’ll stop,” you said, feeling the panic beginning to rise.
“No, I don’t want you to stop,” she said, shaking her head, looking down at you, “I just want to understand.”
“I’m being weird. I can stop. It’s okay, you don’t have to pretend to like them.” You could feel yourself beginning to shake, not wanting to upset her anymore.
“Darling, no.”
Her arms closed around you, pulling you in to her body. She was so warm, so strong, able to hold you together when it felt as if you were falling apart. You wanted to pull away from her, knowing you’d upset her, but you also wanted to cling to her like a child.
“I love your gifts,” she said, “I promise I do.”
“But they’re weird,” you said, “I’m being weird.”
“You’re being thoughtful,” she replied, “just let me in on those thoughts, okay?”
“Okay.” You nodded, waiting for the kiss you knew was coming to your temple. She was so good at being consistent with you. You always knew what to expect from her.
You reached out to closest one, picking it up. You could remember finding it. A few weeks ago you’d been walking through the forest and something had glittered in amongst the rotting leaves. You’d brushed them off, finding this rock, crystals embedded in it, and you’d known it was for Larissa. The blue was clear and bright, just like when she laughed.
“Each one reminds me of you,” you said as you tried to gather your thoughts into something someone else would understand. You held the rock up, at her eye line, twisting it in the light to show it off perfectly.
“They do?” she asked, not judgementally, but prompting you to continue. You lent back against her body, letting her feel how much you needed her.
“They’re all blue,” you said and you could feel her slow nod behind you, nose brushing against the side of your head, “and your eyes are blue. So anytime I find a rock the same colour as your eyes I bring it back, because it reminds me of you, and you’re my favourite person, and you deserve things as pretty as your eyes.”
“Darling.” She sounded choked up.
You turned, worried you’d done something wrong again. Instead, she was smiling down at you and the tears were in her eyes, sparkling, but she didn’t look sad. She lent forward, pressing her forehead against yours.
“No one has ever been that thoughtful,” she said, “you’re a wonder.”
Which made no sense to you. Why would no one have ever been nice to her? You weren’t doing anything special, just gifting her the rocks that reminded you of her. It wasn’t some big grand gesture like you’d seen in all the movies. It was barely anything.
“I’m just doing what feels right,” you said, shrugging.
She gave you a soft kiss and you sighed. She only ever kissed you like that when she was happy. You had to be doing the right thing, then. You were both happy. That was the goal.
“An absolute wonder,” she whispered before giving you another soft kiss.
Definitely the right thing.

hints that Larissa Weems didn't actually have a crush on Gomez but had a crush on Morticia instead:
#1 her strong feelings for Morticia
...which are presented as resentment, jealousy and bitterness, feelings that could easily result from misinterpreting a serious crush you have on a person
meanwhile she doesn't seem to have any strong feelings about Gomez at all
on the contrary, in one scene she even seems to belittle him or express a certain indifference towards him:
in this scene Gomez doesn't understand what Weems and Morticia are talking about and while Morticia is very gentle with him as always Weems' reaction seems a little arrogant and she seems to even be mocking him a bit
watch:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think this somewhat condescending reaction to Gomez not understanding what they're talking about is very interesting because it is actually somewhat out of character for Weems. She's usually not cocky or arrogant but in this scene she shows a certain disdain towards Gomez. And I interpret this as her being like "omg this man is so stupid and simple, how could Morticia choose him over me??"
sure, them being at Nevermore was 30 years prior to the plot of "Wednesday"
so you could just say Gomez was a teenage crush she quickly overcame and now she doesn't care about him anymore and even realizes that he is way too simple for her
but if that's the case, then WHY does she still have this strong feeling of sourness for Morticia? she obviously doesn't care about Gomez at all so if it was him she had a crush on why would she still be hanging on to so much bitterness towards Morticia?
I mean, the whole scene just SCREAMS "omg Morticia how could you favor this guy over me" and definitely not "omg Gomez how could you favor Morticia over me"
seriously, go and watch that scene again
it's at the beginning of episode 5
and I think it's so obvious there that Weems thinks very little of Gomez and doesn't understand how Morticia could choose him over her
#2 her reaction to Wednesday playing the cello
Weems has such a strong reaction to Wednesday playing the cello and the show focuses on the mother-daughter-relationship between Wednesday and Morticia which makes me think that Weems' reaction is supposed to be a hint that she is reminded of Morticia playing the cello and that there is another similarity between Wednesday and her mother. If that is the case and Weems is reminded of Morticia when she hears Wednesday playing her reaction is... telling:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
#3 Gomez and Weems would be no match AT ALL
there is absolutely ZERO chemistry between Weems and Gomez
like zero
I mean sure, again, 30 years ago and that is a long time but still... wouldn't there be some kind of... I don't know, connection? at least a little bit? but there's zero
Meanwhile Weems and Morticia:
the tension
the teasing
the looks they give each other
"stately sequoia tree" "lumberjack"
the fact that Morticia has "ALWAYS ADORED that biting sense of humor"
the sense of humor that, by the way, we ONLY get to see when Morticia is present
the fact that Weems talks to Wednesday about Morticia nonstop, like seriously, she talks about Morticia all day and doesn't even mention Gomez once
#4 Morticia and Weems were close
Not only wErE tHeY rOoMmAtEs (oh my god they were roommates) but there are several other indications that they were very close at the time:
Weems knows about the visions Morticia had and says that she remembers that Morticia thought she might be losing her mind at first... a very personal and private matter that Morticia probably didn't discuss with many people
they participated in the Poe Cup together, Morticia as captain and Weems as co-pilot
Morticia saying that they had good times together... Weems doesn't agree that they were always good for her but they definitely were close at the time and spent time together not only as roommates
they did a duet for the Solstice Talent Show, a fact that I LOVE btw
#5 the fact that Weems cares so much about Wednesday
all her students are important to Weems and she always does what she thinks is best for Nevermore but she seems to have a special interest in helping Wednesday to fit in and find some friends
she forgives Wednesday many times even though she always breaks the rules
Weems seems to have a soft spot for Wednesday and would she have that for the daughter of her former rival if there really were only negative feelings for said rival? Why would she care for Wednesday that much (more than she already cares for each one of her students) if she really hated Morticia and obviously doesn't care about Gomez at all?
wouldn't make any sense
IN CONCLUSION: they are wives
thanks for coming to my ted talk

ONLY LOVE CAN DIG YOU OUT OF THIS (part 1 of ?)
pairing: larissa weems x billie dean howard
word count: 1038
notes and warnings: title from “slow it down” by the lumineers!!
description: Larissa Weems had been told she would be meeting with a successful ex-Nevermore student who had made a name for herself as a medium. Billie Dean Howard had been told she would be meeting with the Principal of Nevermore. But names had not been exchanged in the chaos, and upon the women’s meeting, old wounds are re-opened and the seven days Billie spends at Nevermore to host a seminar seem like an eternity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Larissa sighed, leaning back in her chair — her head was pounding, the fire was too bright, the office too quiet. It was all wrong, in a way she could not quite place but did not particularly care to, for among all of her discomforts, exhaustion was the greatest.
She had been planning Nevermore’s Outreach Day and Family Weekend for hours, and in the middle of it all she had been made to meet Gomez and Morticia Addams for the first time in years.
All she wished to do was rest and leave all of it for the next day, perhaps open a bottle of wine and—
A knock at her office door startled her. She had not been expecting anyone, unless she had completely forgotten an appointment, which was highly unlikely, but—
The medium.
She was meant to be speaking to a medium about hosting a week-long seminar at Nevermore. She hadn’t had time to do her research on the medium, and even if she had, the person’s name had been lost in her frenzied meeting with the school board the day before.
Larissa called that the door was open, unwilling at such a point in the day to actually get up to welcome her guest into the office.
Honey-blonde curls were her first observation — the next was the woman’s blush-pink silk blouse, and the tall black heels she wore.
The woman turned after shutting the door to Larissa’s office, and all at once every hope was thwarted and whatever slight sense of peace Larissa had left had been abandoned.
Unexpectedly, the woman before her wore the same surprise, both of them pausing.
“Billie Dean Howard, is it?” Larissa breathed, attempting desperately to hide the shock that crawled up her spine and the discomfort that followed short behind it.
Billie’s lips twitched into a small smile, and Larissa couldn’t quite tell if it was real or merely an act of seeming professional. “The school board told me I would be meeting with Nevermore’s principal,” Billie said, running a hand along the mantle of the fireplace, slightly in awe of the carved stone Medusa. “They didn’t tell me I would be meeting with Larissa Weems.”
“I’m sorry to disappoint,” she said, and either Billie ignored the sarcasm dripping from the words or she didn’t catch it.
“Not at all.”
“Sit down.” The words came out a bit harsher than Larissa intended.
The silence that followed as Billie sat down across from her, though it lasted only a few seconds, was terribly awkward.
“I’ve seen your show on the television,” Larissa said at last, “and I heard it was nominated for a few awards the other night.”
Billie nodded, and she couldn’t help the pride that filled herself, feeling at home swimming in her own accomplishments. But as self-assured as she may have been, there still lurked a twinge of something unsettling, something hiding in the shadows that the light of the burning fire failed to illuminate. It was hiding in Larissa’s crystalline eyes, in the guarded expression that refused to leave her ethereal features. “We won awards for directing, and for my abilities as a host.”
Larissa hummed in response, briefly turning back to her papers, doing her very best to seem uninterested.
“You seem to be doing well,” Billie said, taking a closer look at the office. Briefly, she paused. “Is that Medusa carved into the fireplace?”
“You’ll be here for a week, is that what you proposed?” Weems said airily, changing the subject. She had no desire to discuss personal matters with Billie, not after all this time, after all that had happened before.
“Yes, the school board approached me about hosting a seminar on speaking with the dead, and psychic visions.”
Larissa had hardly heard the woman speak — she was utterly focused on the way Billie’s hair rested in waves down her shoulders, the uncanny but refreshing air of confidence and challenge making a home in the woman’s dark eyes. She had changed so much since Larissa had last encountered her, yet somehow she had hardly changed at all.
“Larissa?” Billie asked, having noticed the woman’s prolonged silence.
“Yes, sorry,” Larissa said quickly, snapping up straight in her chair, clearing her throat. “It’s been quite a long day… and it appears the only open times for the seminars this week would be 1:00-2:30 or 2:30 to 3:30. I would prefer to condense classes from 8:00-12:00, give the students time for lunch, and then have all of the students done by 4:00.”
“1:00-2:30 would be fine.”
“Then I suppose we have it all settled,” she said quickly, standing, ready to usher Billie out of her office.
Billie stood as well, noticing the way Larissa towered over her — a spark traveled up her spine, clouding her head, coursing through her. She told herself it was merely… she didn’t know what to excuse it as, so she pushed it from her mind completely. But when she had to look up to meet the woman’s eyes, she could feel her face growing warm, and she had to look away.
“We should go into town tonight to celebrate,” Billie said before she could stop herself. “It’s been so long, we need to catch up.”
Larissa considered it, she did — but all at once everything came flooding back, along with her sense, and she scolded herself. “I really shouldn’t. I’ve got to finish planning the school’s Outreach Day.”
Billie nodded. A strange sort of embarrassment filled her at the rejection, even more so when she realized that she usually never cared. “Then I’ll see you on Monday? At the seminar?”
“Of course.”
And as soon as Billie had come, she was gone.
The silence in the office was unsettling.
Larissa sat down once more, but this time, she dared not let herself relax, let herself think — for as soon as she did she knew her thoughts would be only of Billie, and that if she let them win, she would be down at the bar with her tonight.
Morticia Addams, Larissa thought with a shake of her head.
Such a feeble, insignificant concern was Morticia Addams when Billie Dean Howard haunted every thought.

Hi! Could you write Larissa x wife reader? They just had a baby and Larissa misses sex so they ask one of the teachers to babysit?
A/N: I hope you’ll like it, I’m not entirely comfortable with writing smut, yet. So, hopefully this one came out enjoyable.
Pairing: Larissa x Reader
Rating: Teen and Up
Words count: 700+
Tumblr media
Ten months had passed since the birth of your first child. The bliss they brought into your life was immeasurable, but with such a great joy came also the enormous fatigue that was being a new parent.
Larissa talked you into going on parental leave while she kept working.
The first couple of months were the hardest. The baby wouldn’t sleep; both you and Larissa would be much more irritable than usual.
You two used to be a power couple and now, after the baby arrived, everything seemed to crumbled.
Yes, you loved each other deeply, but you were both constantly exhausted – both physically and mentally. The baby drained you completely and you knew this was going to happen, you just didn’t expect it was going to take so long for you to adjust to your new life.
Sex was something you both yearned, but since the baby arrived it was almost impossible to have a moment of privacy. The only way to make them fall asleep was to held them in your arms. This meant either you or Larissa had to sleep with them several hours per night.
During the day, you both went into survival mode and sex was not a primal need.
At least not during the first five or six months…
Now, every time you tried to have some privacy with your wife, the baby would start screaming bloody murder. Teething was a real nightmare.
It was the day after Outreach Day, you decided to surprise your wife at work. Of course you had to bring the baby, and of course, before you knew it you were surrounded by a crowd of teachers and student.
They all wanted to say hi to baby Weems, and you remembered why you never brought them to your workplace…
All the stupid little voices, the hands trying to grab them, the unwanted advices, the invasive questions.
Luckily, you had true friends there. Vlad, the fencing coach, faced the excited crowd to get to you.
“All right, all right!” He said. “The show is over. Now let them both breath” he smiled, walking you and the baby towards a more private area of the courtyard.
“Thanks” you said.
“Don’t mention it” he held out his hand to the baby and they blabbed happily. “Are you here to see your wife?” He asked.
You nodded. Something popped up in your mind and you immediately felt guilty about it.
You sighed.
“Would I be a horrible friend if I’d ask you to babysit the baby for a while? I really need some time alone with Larissa…” you tried to explain and Vlad smiled at you.
“Just hand me the little one. Please, take your time… all the time you need” he half laughed, as he reached out and you gave him the baby.
“Okay…” you said, suspiciously. “What’s going on?”
“She needs to get laid” he said. “She’s a nightmare these days. I’m asking you as a Nevermore teacher, please do something about it”.
You laughed lightheartedly, but nodded seriously. “I promise” you joked as you kissed your baby on the forehead, leaving them with your friend.
Once you reached the Principal’s office, your wife was surprised to see you.
She greeted you with a smile and a kiss.
“What are you doing here, love?” Larissa asked, with a smile. “Where’s the baby?!”
“Don’t worry. Vlad volunteered as a babysitter. I’m here on a mission for the school” you replied, locking the door behind your back.
“On a mission for the school?” She sounded confused but her smile didn’t falter and her eyes sparkled with curiosity.
You closed the distance between you two once again and kissed her with love and passion. She was taken by surprise, but immediately accepted the kiss with a soft moan and walked back as you pushed her forward until her legs hit the top of her desk.
You grinned in the kiss, deepening the kiss, savouring her lips and sighing in satisfaction.
Her red lipstick was all over your mouth but you couldn’t care less.
“Oh— how I’ve missed you, my love…” she breathed against your mouth; her eyes were closed, her fingers were deep into your hair, keeping you close.
She sat on the desk and parted her legs, welcoming you between her knees.
“I’ve missed you too” you managed to reply, breathless, between her kisses.
And if Larissa was more relaxed after two hours of screwing each other’s brains out behind the locked doors of her office, it was all to the good.

Why is a Raven Like a Writing Desk?
Paring: Larissa Weems x Original Female Character
Chapter: 5/?
Rating: M for future smut
Summary: Alice is a Hyde Hunter. Larissa decides to hire her at the beginning of the year, since she knows something is happening in Jericho.
Tumblr media
Even though Larissa and Alice fell asleep almost immediately, their sleep wasn’t peaceful at all.
A nasty nightmare filled with Hydes and gargoyles woke Alice up and she realised Larissa was already wide awake as she was staring at her with her piercing blue eyes.
“What time is it?” asked Alice.
“Almost four o’clock” Larissa replied in a whisper. “I can’t sleep…”
Alice sat up and stretched her arms out, yawning. “Come to my room, I have something that’ll help us”.
She jumped out of bed and together they snuck out of the Principal’s bedroom. They both had rooms in Edenvale Hall, everyone else was asleep, so nobody saw them entering the younger woman’s room.
Alice’s bedroom was a piece of art. The bed was covered in plushies, the walls were decorated with plants and flowers, everything was light blue or baby pink in colour.
“I love your room,” she admitted. “It’s so… you”.
Alice handed her a rolled joint with a smile. “Thanks, I agree ”.
“What— where—?” Larissa stammered with indignation, eyeing the joint.
“If you’re upset about this little thing, please don’t look under my bed” Alice half joked.
Obviously, Larissa was on her knees moments later, snooping around under Alice’s bed and what she found made her skin crawl.
A glass bong, a few sheets of coloured paper, some plastic bags filled with pills, powders and mushrooms, more weed…
“Alice!” she boomed, getting up, arms crossed on her chest.
Alice shrugged. “Sometimes I need some help with my imagination… it’s all natural, I can guarantee you. Besides, I’m not selling, nor I am intending to sell anything to the students, it’s all mine — but I can share something with you” she smiled again and lit the joint.
She took a long puff and handed it to Larissa; after a long pause, the Principal accepted it.
“It’ll help you relax, you’ll sleep better” Alice assured her. Then she retrieved something else from under her bed. She ate a few mushrooms from a plastic bag and then she offered the bag to Larissa.
“What are these?”
“They’ll make you see stuff. And feel stuff. And be stuff. You’ll either be taller or smaller, I don’t remember which side I picked them from…” said Alice with an innocent smile — her big grey eyes shining bright in the moonlight.
“Shrooms. They’re shrooms ” Larissa sighed, but ate some anyway, then she lay on Alice bed, huffing in annoyance. “This bed’s too short!”
Alice laughed softly. “See? You’re growing taller already!”  She picked up her phone and launched Spotify, playing Rumours, Fleetwood Mac’s album, on repeat.
She joined Larissa on her tiny bed, the joint was shared, the shrooms definitely worked . They took a few hits from the bong too.
“I can see the music…” Alice sighed, happily, while Dreams was playing.
Larissa was staring at the ceiling. “I can see a flying cat…”
Alice frowned. “Sorry, that’s on me… Cheshire! Stop spying on us!”
A hairless cat was floating inside the room, chilling. Their grin was eery, their huge yellow eyes staring down at the two women.
“Hello, Alice. Long-time no see…” said the cat in a singsong voice.
Larissa hid her face into Alice’s neck. “I don’t like it!”
“It’s okay, Cheshire likes to creep people out. They’re harmless” Alice reached out to touch the cat, the flesh of her hand started liquefying off her fingers. She giggled.
The cat swam through the air and joined them on the bed.
When they started purring, both Alice and Larissa had fallen asleep again.
* ˚ ✦
Alice’s eyes snapped open; she came to from a deep sleep as if she had been in a coma.
She sat up in her bed and started breathing slowly.
“Damn, that was a good trip!” she laughed, turning to where Larissa was supposed to be, but she realised the other side of the bed was empty and cold.
Alice looked out of the window, the sun was in the sky… it wasn’t rising, it was setting.
“Fuck!” she muttered under her breath.
Looking for her phone, she realised she was still wearing her nightclothes.
She got undressed and jumped in the shower.
Her head started pounding badly and she puked, after that she immediately felt better.
Once she dried off, she looked at the time. Almost five o’clock in the evening.
Her stomach rumbled angrily. She got dressed and grabbed a snack from her night table.
Alice marched into Larissa’s office, but she wasn’t there.
She lit the fireplace and sat at her own desk, munching at the energy bar.
Picking up her phone again, Alice tried giving her a call, but Larissa’s phone was disconnected, so she made herself a cup of tea and waited.
Gathering her thoughts, Alice tried to calm herself down. Larissa was smart and they had planned everything out the night before.
She was going to impersonate Rowan , pretend he was expelled from school. She was probably at the train station now… Alice was supposed to drive her there, but she was in a drug induced coma, half dead on her bed, completely lost in her Wonderland, so Larissa must have asked someone else to do it.
A knock on the door distracted her from her thoughts, she straightened her back and said: “Come in” in her most professional voice.
Coach Vlad entered the office, cautiously. “I was looking for Principal Weems?”
Alice smiled. “She’s running some errands in Jericho at the moment, would you like to leave her a note?”
“Oh, no. It’s just that— the Poe Cup is tomorrow,  and we have to discuss some final details”.
Fuck! The Poe Cup!
“Of course! I’ll text her right away, she’ll reach back to you as soon as she can” Alice flashed him her best smile, then she pointed at the chair in front of her. “Would you like to join me for a cup of tea?”
“I’m a vampire. I don’t …”
“Would you like to join me for a cup of blood?” she repeated in the same tone.
Coach Vlad blinked twice, in confusion.
Alice started to sweat. Too many social interactions.
“I don’t know what I’m doing,” she admitted. “I mean you can wait for the Principal here if you want, I don’t know how long it will take”.
“Uhm, thanks, I guess, Miss Donkin, I… I think I will just wait for her to call me!?” he said, awkwardly.
Alice nodded, waving her hand at him. “Bye-bye”.
He left, more confused than ever and Alice was once again left alone in the huge office.
She sighed, trying to call Larissa again but her phone was still disconnected.
The Principal returned to the academy half an hour later and she was furious.
She started pacing her office, eyes filled with anger as tried to keep her voice down.
“You— you—” she pointed a gloved finger at Alice, who lowered her gaze in shame. “I tried to wake you up this morning and you looked dead. Dead ! I had to check your pulse! I had to turn you on your back, so that you wouldn’t choke on your own vomit while I was away! I had to leave you alone ! We had a plan! You were supposed to drive me to the station! I had to ask Miss Thornhill !” her voice went gradually higher as she spoke, and Alice felt more and more guilty.
“I’m sorry…” Alice mumbled.
“You’re sorry? You’re sorry!?” Larissa’s voice cracked in a bitter laugh; hands on her hips, lips reduced to a thin line. “You’re unbelievable, you’re impossible… I need to trust you! I need someone to rely on!”
“I know…” Alice’s voice was anything but a whisper.
“Take the rest of the day off” she blurted out, marching towards her liquor cabinet.
“But— the Poe Cup is tomorrow and Coach Vl —” Alice started but Larissa cut her off with a deadly glare.
“Take the rest of the day off” she repeated, slowly. “Clean yourself up, get ready for tomorrow…”
Alice nodded and left the office, she felt so ashamed. Her heart started beating furiously in her chest as she reached her room.
“Everything okay?” a purring voice came from nowhere, then the head of a hairless cat appeared next to the window, grinning as usual.
“Yep,” she replied, swiping the small tears away from the corner of her eyes. “Go away, Cheshire, I want to be alone”.
“You can’t, Alice…” said the cat. “You know that. You’ll never be truly alone. You’re stuck with us, forever”.
“At least be quiet! You’re driving me insane!” Alice started sobbing, opening the window to let some air in and the head disappeared, only to appear again, next to her bed, this time it was the full body of the cat.
“Oh, my dear, sweet, Alice… don’t you know? We’re all mad here”.
* ˚ ✦
Dec 9 th , 2026
Alice was in the school infirmary, watching over a sick girl.
“I know she did it!” she was saying, coughing while the nurse was tending to her. “Bianca…”
Yoko had an allergic reaction to garlic bread at dinner the previous night; she had spent the whole night in the infirmary but she was in no condition to participate in the Poe Cup.
“We’re down a Cat!” she coughed again.
“Actually, Wednesday Addams took your place” Alice checked her files, then her phone. It was almost time. “You don’t have to worry about that, just focus on staying alive, please”.
A warning shot was fired and Alice jumped in fear. The Poe Cup had just started.
Yoko tried to get up from the bed, but the nurse stopped her.
“I want to go and see!”
“You’re too weak” the nurse said.
“I’m sure you’ll feel better soon, Yoko. Rest, now. I have to go and see if they need me elsewhere” Alice forced a smile and left the infirmary.
When she reached the lake, she realised the whole school was there… it was so crowded, so loud. God, she hated it. Fred hopped around her feet, and she picked him up.
“It’s okay, Freddy… it’s just a stupid race…” she whispered eyeing Larissa standing by the shore of the lake, surrounded by students and teachers.
With a heaviness in her heart, Alice joined the Principal. “The girl is doing better, she was worried about the race…” Alice informed her.
Larissa acknowledged her presence with a small nod. She was too focused on the race, apparently. “Good,” she said, eyes glued on the four canoe that were sailing the lake.
“Who’s winning?” Alice tried to ask but received no answer. “I’m sorry about yesterday, Ris … I promise it won’t happen again” she said in a small voice.
Larissa sighed again and she lowered her gaze to the tiny woman beside her. “Fine, apology accepted” she finally said. “Now please, don’t distract me…”
Alice hugged Fred tighter as one of the canoes crushed against a red floating buoy. She gasped.
Larissa squealed. “And ‘the Pit and the Pendulum’ team is down!” she announced” as Bianca and her teammates cheered. Clearly she had sabotaged their canoe…
“Is that allowed?” Alice whispered to Larissa; they were side by side, their backs to the huge crowd.
“Everything is allowed,” Larissa whispered back, leaning into Alice’s personal space, smiling. “Bianca B arclay ’s team has a formidable winning streak…”
“But they’re sirens, I mean… isn’t it a little unfair?”
“Life is unfair” Larissa replied without missing a beat.
“I bet my walrus could easily sink all the canoe… even Bianca’s”
“ Alice, don’t…” Larissa warned her through gritted teeth, forcing a smile, eyes glued on the race, still clapping.
“I won’t! I’m just saying…” Alice shrugged.
When the three remaining teams reached the other side of the shore and entered the woods, Alice frowned, confused.
“What do we do, now?”
“We wait for them to return…”
“But that’s boring!”
Larissa shot her a glare that clearly meant: ‘lower your voice’ and Alice sighed.
Five minutes passed and Alice started playing with the rabbit in her arms, this Poe Cup was a real bummer…
“Can I at least have the binoculars?” asked Alice, sighing.
“No,” Larissa replied sternly, then she started looking through the lenses again. “ The final two teams are the Golden Bugs…” Alice wasn’t even paying attention at this point. “And the Black Cats” she sounded surprised.
Everyone around them cheered, Alice kept playing with Fred, and when she finally looked  up, she could see the two last canoe sailing towards the shore.
“This is really boring…” she repeated.
“Silence…” Larissa warned her again, through another fake smile. “Go bring the Cup to the courtyard”.
Alice sighed, she let Fred go and went to grab the huge cup. It was so heavy; she could barely lift it.
Someone must have won because around her everyone was cheering, clapping and jumping… and she was dragging this stupid Cup to the main courtyard, while Larissa was beaming for some reason.
There, Alice found out that the Black Cats had won. She was standing next to Larissa who was explaining the story of the Poe Cup. Alice wasn’t listening… she was too nervous. The crowd was looking at her, well, no… everybody’s eyes were fixed on the winning team and the Principal, but she was next to them.
Then Larissa lifted the Cup as if it weighted nothing and handed it to Enid who started to lift it into the air… Alice almost gaped. That thing was heavy!
Once the ceremony was finally over, Alice tried to escape back to her room, but Larissa stopped her. “Do you want to have lunch together?”
“We always eat together…” she replied, confused.
Larissa rolled her eyes and smiled, then she locked arms with Alice and started walking her around the courtyard. “You know, the last time Ophelia Hall won the Poe Cup, I was in the team…”
“Did you shift into a sea creature to sabotage the rest of the canoe?” Alice’s eyes widened at the thought.
Larissa didn’t stop walking, a little smile played on her lips. “We had our strategy. I was the co-pilot… would you excuse me a moment?” the Principal stopped when she spotted Wednesday Addams. “Wait for me in my office, we’ll have lunch and then I’ll tell you all about my old days as a co-pilot for the Poe Cup and why it is so important for me! ”
Alice nodded with a smile as she saw the Principal walking  towards the young pig-tailed girl.
She went to grab something to eat for her and Larissa and then she entered the office. They usually ate on her spacious desk; she set it as if it was a table: plates, cutlery, glasses, a bottle of wine for Larissa and water for herself.
Alice lit the fireplace and then she waited; she knew Larissa wouldn’t take too long.
Okay, maybe it was a boring competition in Alice’s eyes, but it clearly meant something more to Larissa and she wanted to know why, she wanted to learn more about her.
That beautiful woman intrigued her and she was curious to learn all of her secrets and even share some of her own stories with her.

Why is a Raven Like a Writing Desk?
Paring: Larissa Weems x Original Female Character
Chapter: 4/?
Rating: M for future smut
Summary: Alice is a Hyde Hunter. Larissa decides to hire her at the beginning of the year, since she knows something is happening in Jericho.
Tumblr media
Nov. 24th, 2026
It was almost midnight; Larissa was lying in Alice’s bed with a glass of wine in her hand and her laptop placed in her lap.
The younger woman was curled up against the Principal, resting her head on Larissa’s shoulder, and her eyes fixed on the screen.
They were halfway through season five; their meetings were not daily but regular. Alice grew fonder of that strange woman and Larissa learned to appreciate Alice’s oddities. Their friendship was solid, their feelings genuine.
Alice noticed that something was off when she closed the lid of her laptop.
Larissa’s eyes were a bit distant, she seemed preoccupied.
“Is everything okay?” asked Alice, nestling up against her and hugging her.
Larissa smiled; she became aware of the fact that Alice was a cuddler a few days after their first meeting.
She also learned that Alice barely tolerated the touch of strangers but oddly enough, she very much indulged into the arms of her loved ones.
“I’m worried about tomorrow…” said Larissa.
A new student was joining the Nevermore Academy, even if the lessons had already started. During the past days Larissa has had a few meetings and numerous phone calls.
She was getting more nervous by the day…
Alice had read the files, the girl — Wednesday Addams — had perfect grades, but she had changed eight schools in five years… not to mention the rumours about the murders.
“Is this about the new girl?” asked Alice.
Larissa sighed and shook her head.
Closing her eyes, the Principal rested her head against the headboard and inhaled deeply. Alice could feel her heart beating faster.
“Her family and I have… history”.
Alice waited in silence; she didn’t want to push her too far. Larissa was a private person, and Alice didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable.
“The girl’s mother, Morticia Frump, was my roommate, here at Nevermore” the look in Larissa’s eyes was cold, distant. “She was always so perfect. Captain of the fencing team, Queen of the Dark Prom, President of the Séance Society… she had it all”.
“But you’re the Principal of the Nevermore Academy! You’re like– super important!” Alice pointed out.
Larissa scoffed. “When I was seventeen, I asked Gomez Addams to the Rave-N-Dance and he rejected me. He went with Morticia, instead… every time I see them, I feel like a teenager again”.
Alice hugged her tighter. “If you want, I’ll stay with you during the meeting…”
“That would be nice,” Larissa said with a smile.
Alice nodded, then she reached for her face and stroked her cheek.
“No one will hurt my beautiful Pearl. I told you; you are just like her… stupid Greg and stupid Rose hurt you, but now you have nothing to worry about” there was convinction in her voice that almost made Larissa believe her.
“I have a Gomez Addams, too, you know?” Alice’s voice was almost a whisper. Her hand was still on Larissa’s cheek and the Principal felt her heart beating furiously. “I was twenty-something, working on a case. I realised I needed help, so I summoned the White Queen. We started the investigation, looking for clues, interviewing the locals… and that’s when I met Rahul, he was very cute. And kind… and he immediately fell in love with the Queen…”
Alice dropped her eyes and retrieved her hand.
Larissa felt the cold where her hand was.
“What happened?” she dared to ask.
“The Queen was a part of me. They were getting along, they liked each other. And I thought… if he loves her, he’s gonna love me, too, because she is me. So, I told him…” another long pause, Alice’s eyes became darker, sadder. “It didn’t end well…”
“Please tell me this story doesn’t end with Rahul being the Hyde…”
Alice chuckled. “Oh, no. I would have loved that. I can handle a monster. A broken heart? Not so much…” she replied curling her lips; her eyes met Larissa’s and she found understandingin them, not pity. Then, Alice’s expression changed, she took a moment to recollect her thoughts and frowned. “He was killed by the Hyde, though”.
Larissa fought a laugh, biting the insight of her cheeks. “Please tell me you did everything you could to help him…” she raised an eyebrow at her.
“I did! Well— I could have done more…” Alice pointed out.
This time, Larissa couldn’t stop her laugh and Alice rolled her eyes.
“You know, you look very pretty when you laugh” Alice remarked, slightly nudging her.
Larissa smiled. “Are you flirting with me? After you just told me the story of how your unrequited love accidentally died under your supervision?”
Alice shrugged. “Actually, I’m terrible at flirting, I was merely stating the truth…”
Larissa’s smile grew wider, as she lowered herself into Alice’s embrace until their lips touched.
Alice responded to the kiss immediately, parting her lips and allowing their tongues to intertwine.
It was a nice, sweet kiss. The room was soon filled with soft wet sounds and low moans.
Somehow, they ended up sprawled on the bed, Larissa was laying on top of Alice, framing her face with her hands, caressing her hair with the tips of her fingers.
Alice’s hands were holding onto dear life on Larissa’s back; time seemed to have stopped.
That’s when Larissa’s alarm on her phone went off, meaning it was half past midnight.
The two of them were both out of breath and surprised by the turn of the events, but Alice was smiling, and Larissa’s eyes were beaming.
“See you in a few hours?” Alice turned off the alarm and handed her the phone.
Larissa nodded and placed another light peck on Alice’s lips. “Good night”.

“Wednesday’s child is full of woe”.
So, there it was, the Addams family. Gomez was exactly like Alice had imagined. He seemed charming, elegant… an old-fashioned man. Morticia was stunning. She was one of the most beautiful women she had ever seen. Her voice was gentle, her smile was kind, her curves were soft and round. Wednesday seemed in a very bad mood, but she had a sharp mind, and a quick voice. Alice respected that.
In the Principal's office, Alice had her own small desk, next to a window. She was silently observing the people around her, their communication skills. Something she lacked…
That’s when Morticia asked about Wednesday’s therapy sessions… it was the first time someone referred to Larissa by using her name and not her title. Alice felt a tinge of jealousy in her chest, though she didn’t fully understand why… it was just a name.
Larissa kept ignoring Wednesday’s little taunts, and finally they decided to leave in order to show the girl her new room.
Alice stayed in the office, preparing the latest things required for Wednesday’s arrival at Nevermore Academy. She was allergic to colours, apparently. So they had a special order for her uniform and according to the email she received, it had arrived that morning. Alice alerted the registrar, and sent a few more copies of the semester schedule, just in case.
Fifteen minutes later, Larissa was back in her office. She slammed the door and threw herself on the chair before the lit fireplace.
“This is going to be a challenge” she said, with a gloomy voice.
Alice smiled and joined her by the fireplace. She sat on the arm of the armchair. “Luckily you don’t tire easily, do you?”
Larissa turned her attention to her and returned her smile, she shook her head slowly, then she sighed, happily.
That’s when a blue butterfly entered the office and landed on the tip of Alice’s nose.
Larissa smiled fondly, but Alice’s big glassy eyes became filled with anger and shame. “It’s the Hyde” she said. “They’ve found a body near the school grounds this morning. The victim was a normie. The sheriff told the papers he was attacked by a bear… but he believes the killer is an outcast” her voice trembled; she tried to calm herself. “I’m sorry, I can’t summon the Jabberwock yet, it’s too dangerous… we can’t have two rabid monsters on the lose” the butterfly flew away and disappeared, Alice felt immediately colder.
Larissa nodded, she reached forward and hugged Alice, bringing her into her lap. She curled up, sighing defiantly. “My only job is to hunt the Hyde and I can’t even find one damn clue about it…”
“Actually, you’re also working a full-time job as my assistant and you’re doing a great job at it; you’re patrolling the school grounds with your creatures, and the Hyde and its master are clearly more than one step ahead of us” Larissa started caressing Alice’s head and placed a kiss on top of her raven hair. “The victim was a normie… we can still pretend this isn’t connected to us, but it won’t take long…” she said. “Let’s go about our day. Let’s pretend everything is okay, see how things develop. You’ll send another sentinel in search of more clues tonight”.
* ˚ ✦
“She arrived yesterday, and someone already tried to kill her…” Alice looked up from her desk, she was playing Candy Crush on her phone. A student had pushed a gargoyle towards Wednesday Addams, luckily another student was there to help her.
Larissa was pacing her office back and forth, with her hands on her hips. She was fuming. “And you’re positive the student was Rowas Laslow?” she asked.
Alice nodded, eyes glued to the screen of her phone. “Jim the Hare saw him from the balcony. He was hopping around in the hopes of catching a talking gargoyle that could give him clues about the Hyde…”
Larissa sighed and finally stopped marching around. “I’ll have a chat with his father. Meanwhile, please, send someone to keep an eye on him… discreetly”.
“On it”! Alice smiled happily, she abandoned her phone on her desk as she closed her eyes. She had a few friends that could help. Wonderland was filled with many faithful creatures. This one was a job for Bill the Lizard.
When Larissa spoke to Rowan’s father, she found out that his behaviour had been erratic for a while, now.
Bill the Lizard, on the other hand, was pushed off a window while he was trying to spy on Wednesday and he didn't even see who had done it.
The arrangements for the Poe Cup were nowhere near to be finished and Alice had a long way to go…
The next day Larissa drove Wednesday to Doctor Kinbott, which gave Alice a few spare hours to set up everything. Of course she ended up scrolling through her phone, looking for films to watch in the nearby theatres.
At some point, she completely forgot about Wednesday and her doctor appointment.
She phoned Larissa with a smile on her face.
“Guess what!?”
“What?”
“They’re going to show the Grinch at the cinema this Saturday!” Alice squirmed with joy. She loved Christmas spirit.
“On Saturday, I can do after lunch. Sometime around four o’clock?”
Alice checked the schedules. “That’s perfect! We can watch the film and then join the Harvest Festival from there!”
Larissa smiled. “It’s a date… I mean… it’s… you can fix the appointment in my calendar. I have to go, now…”
The moment they hung up, Alice squirmed. “It’s a date!” she repeated, happily.
* ˚ ✦
About an hour later, Larissa was furiously marching in her office, blabbering about how Wednesday Addams sneaked out of the doctor’s office and knocked out three boys… ending up in the Sheriff’s black book.
“I thought you were supposed to prevent any attempt of escape?” Alice was confused but the deadly glance that she received from Larissa was enough to shut her up.
“I think she’s had a vision…” she said through gritted teeth.
“What do you mean?”
“We passed by a car accident and she knew how the driver had died. Her mother started having visions around the same age… Morticia though she was going insane” Larissa explained, trying to calm herself. What was done was done. There was still work to do…
“Did she tell you about her vision?”
Larissa scoffed. “Obviously not. She doesn’t trust me, but it doesn’t matter. We have to be very careful, we have to keep our eyes open, and—”
“You were the one who lost her…” Alice pointed out, naively.
“Yes, and it won’t happen again. Now. For the Poe Cup, is everything ready?”
* ˚ ✦
Saturday came and Alice tried to dress cute for her date. A little different from her usual attire, a bit more elegant. She was going to the cinema! Yes… the film was the Grinch, but her date was Larissa Weems!
And she was gorgeous… she looked like a diva from the 1950s. Alice’s heart started beating furiously in her chest when she saw her.
“You look amazing!” she kissed her cheek and locked their arms together.
“You too, dear” Larissa replied with a warm smile, as they entered.
Once the film was over, the two of them where chuckling and talking but they knew they had work to do…
The Harvest Fest was about to start and they had to supervise the whole ordeal.
Alice loved fairs, she wanted to have fun… “Please!” she begged Larissa. “Can I go play Whack-A-Mole? Look at those prizes! I’ll win you a unicorn! I’m great at whacking moles! You'll see!”
And with that, Alice was gone.
Larissa was left alone, with a teenager to supervise and an empty stomach.
She sighed, trying to look for Wednesday. She finally found her and sat a few feet away from her and her friend. She ordered a burger, and she hoped Alice wasn’t causing any trouble atthe Whack-A-Mole station.
After a while a boy approached her with a giant panda toy that said “I love you” and she smiled — she actually blushed a little, Alice said she was going to win her a unicorn but that panda was also very cute!
“What the hell is this monstrosity!?” Alice voice boomed behind the poor boy who jumped, holding the panda.
Alice was holding two enormous stuffed unicorns, she placed them in front of Larissa, grinning proudly. “I told you I would win these for you!” then she turned to the panda-boy. “Go away! Nobody wants that stupid panda!”
“But the girl said it was for…” he stammered, awkwardly.
Larissa’s eyes went wide as her head snapped toward the station where Wednesday was playing earlier. She wasn’t there any more. Larissa put down the half eaten hamburger and her facial expression turned frightening. Panda-boy fled.
Alice sighed, crossing her arms on her chest. “I can’t believe you lost her again!”
“You—” Larissa stood up, towering over Alice and she didn’t even blink, “summon one of your creatures, we need to find her!”
Alice pointed in a general direction and Larissa noticed a fat white rabbit running around, searching the place. “Relax… Wednesday is not the problem. Fred told me she overheard that boy Rowan saying weird things to his father on the phone. We should look for him”.
“Let’s split up…” Larissa seemed preoccupied, her anger gone in an instant.
Alice nodded, she took one of her hands in hers. “It’s okay… they’ll be fine!”
But she was wrong. She was completely wrong. Rowan went utterly bonkers and tried to kill Wednesday again, Fred couldn’t do anything about it. He tried to call Alice and when she arrived she witnessed The Hyde killing Rowan in front of Wednesday. Thankfully, both Fred and Alice stayed well hidden and when Wednesday ran away to call for help, Alice took out her phone to call Larissa.
“We need to move fast” she said, her breathing laboured, “Rowan is dead, the Hyde killed him but he was trying to kill Wednesday… I can take his body somewhere else, but you need to call his father right now”.
Alice summoned a white knight to help her with the dead body, together they returned to the Academy; together with Larissa and Miss Thornhill they hid the corpse in the greenhouse, until Rowan’s father came to collect him.
As they all suspected, Rowan’s father confirmed that the boy had already lost his mind, and together they came up with a plan to save the boy’s name, his family and the school’s reputation.
The fact that nobody knew there was a Hyde on the loose was a plus for Alice.
Once Rowan’s dad left and Miss Thornhill was back in her room, Alice joined Larissa in her quarters. She found her in her nightclothes, drinking a glass of red wine.
“We’re going to have to convince a lot of people, tomorrow…” she said, her voice sounded tired. Her face seemed tired… she looked so different from the happy Larissa Alice experienced while they were at the cinema. She put the glass down on a big round table.
Larissa’s room was big and luxurious. Just as Alice expected.
The younger woman tried approaching her with a soft smile. “It’s going to be fine…” she said. She cupped Larissa’s face with both hands and kissed her lips softly. “You’ve already talked to Rowan’s dad, the sheriff won’t find anything in the woods, the school and the students are safe, for now. Let me do my job… I’ll start my research tomorrow, I might not be able to summon a Jabberwock, yet, but I can look for clues…”
Larissa nodded, a light flush appeared on her chest when Alice kissed her. “Would you stay with me? I don’t think I’d be able to fall asleep by myself after what happen tonight…”
Alice smiled. “Of course, I’ll go get my things and come back immediately”.
She only brought her fluffy pyjama and her toothbrush, then she rushed back to Larissa’s room.
She found Larissa already under the covers, she looked so tiny under there…
Alice went to the bathroom and changed her clothes, then she climbed up onto the bed; she hugged Larissa from behind, holding her tightly. She placed a featherweight kiss to the back of her neck, earning a happy sigh from the older woman.
They both fell asleep almost immediately, lulled by each other’s breathing.

Summary: Alice is a Hyde Hunter. Larissa decides to hire her at the beginning of the year, since she knows something is happening in Jericho.

Oct. 15, 2026
A month and a half had passed since Alice's arrival at the Academy. She was now fully healed, and was starting to adjust to her new life.
Nevermore Academy was extremely intriguing, and its inhabitants were fascinating.
The school itself was enormous and Alice got lost many times in the numerous corridors.
There were four main halls. Edenvale Hall, Ophelia Hall, Polonius Hall, and Gertrude Hall.
Larissa’s office along with the teachers’ quarters were in Edenvale Hall, in the North wing. Ophelia Hall was located right next to it, in the East wing. Polonius Hall was in the South wing and last but not least, Gertrude Hall was located in the West wing.
Alice’s days were marked by a rigid schedule. In the morning she would wake up at six o’clock, she would take a quick hot shower, put some make up on. Then she wore what she decided was her ‘secretary uniform’: a light blue dress (with pockets!) a white lace corset, black and white striped stockings, and black combat boots.
When she was ready, she would start running errands for Larissa — she found out the first week that the fake job as an assistant was very much a second job. That woman really needed a helping hand and Alice could use some extra money.
First things first — coffee. For both her and Larissa.
Then she would organise her meetings for the day and send her a comprehensive schedule for the whole working day.
While Larissa was having her meetings, Alice would usually oversee the school grounds, looking for clues or any trace of the Hyde (or its master) but so far she couldn’t find anything.
By lunchtime, she would bring Larissa her meal and they would eat together in her office. She would listen to the Principal complain about this or that student, a teacher or how the sheriff was insufferable.
Alice liked listening to her voice, and Larissa seemed content with having someone who actually enjoyed her company.
“Would you like to watch something with me, tonight?” asked Alice, casually, munching on her carrot salad.
Larissa frowned, looking up from her burger and stayed quiet for a moment, contemplative.
Alice spoke again, with a cheerful smile. “You’re always alone in your office at night, I’m always alone in my room… I’ve never had an actual living friend; I’d like to do stuff!”
Larissa knew Alice had a hard upbringing, like most of the outcasts in the Academy. She also knew she was isolated in every school she went, like it often happened in the outcast community, and that her only friends were the creatures she summoned with her peculiarity.
She was a grown woman now; perhaps attending Nevermore would have helped her making friends… or maybe not.
“You have something in mind?” Larissa asked, smiling and Alice’s eyes beamed with joy.
“I like horror films! Splatter, gore, psychological— you name it!”
Larissa made a face, placing her burger down and taking a sip of her wine.
“You don’t like horror films? What do you like?” asked Alice, a little disappointed.
“Romantic comedies?” she suggested.
The sound that came out of Alice’s mouth was enough to make it clear that she was definitely not into romantic comedies.
“How about cartoons!?” Alice clapped her hands together with glee.
Larissa raised an eyebrow. “You like horror films and cartoons?”
Alice nodded, happily.
“Okay… I guess. Anything in particular?”
“We’re watching Steven Universe!” Alice announced, getting up from her chair, completely forgetting her lunch.
“Never heard of it…” Larissa asked herself what kind of trouble she was getting into.
“Oh, you’ll love it! You’re such a Pearl. I’m more of an Amethyst. Which means together we’re an Opal!” she gasped and joined her by her chair in two long steps. “Giant Woman!” she trilled, in utter joy, throwing her arms around the Principal’s shoulders.
In her sitting position, Larissa was the same height as Alice.
Larissa froze, and when Alice let her go, she kept staring at her with confusion in her blue eyes. Who was this woman? Her new self-proclaimed friend…
“Ten o’clock in my room! Now, finish your lunch! You have a phone call with the mayor in ten minutes”.
With that, Alice returned to her lunch, showing a wide smile on her face.
The rest of the day was uneventful, Alice spent some time in the woods; she picked some mushrooms with Marilyn, they exchanged some of their knowledge in the fungi, algae and lichen department.
Alice used plants to make teas and other recreational substances that helped with her imagination. Miss Thornhill was quite impressed by her fascination with nightshade and mandrake.
When they parted ways, Alice walked along the lake, enjoying the solitude and the sounds of nature.
She imagined her life as an adolescent living there; maybe things would have been different? Better?
Normal people never liked outcasts, but they seemed to be relatively safe there. They were growing up amongst people who could understand their problems, they had great teachers who would help them developing their abilities. Alice never had any of that.
She was bullied at school, the only ones who tried to help her with her ability were her father, before he was killed, and her aunts (who welcomed her in their home when she moved to the United States). But Auntie Henrietta wasn’t the best teacher and her wife, Auntie Lucy, was a normie who couldn’t fully understand the potential of Alice’s ability. Their love, luckily, was enough to keep their little family together.
Alice had an older brother, Edwin; unlike her, he wasn’t sent away overseas, for having summoned a dragon-like creature who killed half of their family and almost destroyed their home…
Edwin was still in the UK; he was adopted by their mother’s side of the family. Alice never spoke to him again, after the incident.
She sat by a tree, sighing deeply. Those memories hurt, even if three decades had passed. The wound in her heart was still fresh, that day she lost her mother, her father, and her aunt to death, but she also lost her brother to fate…
She didn’t like talking about Edwin, even less thinking about him. That’s why she didn’t bring him up with Larissa when she told her the story.
Alice closed her eyes, enjoying the cold breeze, and when she opened them again, a fluffy white rabbit was hopping around her legs.
Her heart skipped a beat.
“Freddy?” she called, cautiously.
The rabbit hopped again, then he rose on his back paws and sniffed the air with his little pink nose. His long white ears turned in Alice’s direction, giving her his full attention and he wriggled his nose.
“We’re late!” he said, his tiny red eyes gleamed with anticipation.
Alice smiled and took out her phone. “Larissa’s meeting with the other teachers is in twenty minutes, my anxious friend… can’t we enjoy our reunion a little longer?”
“We’re late!” he repeated, thumping his foot on the ground.
Alice sighed. “Oh, how I’ve missed you, my dear, sweet, Rabbit… my dear best friend, my partner in crime…”
“Alice!” he scolded her, his British accent stronger than ever.
Alice chuckled. “Let’s go, lead the way…”
And so, Alice followed the White Rabbit till she reached Nevermore Academy. He was hopping frantically a few steps ahead of her, sniffing the air, trying to find the right direction.
“You know,” Alice started, smiling fondly at the animal, “you could just ask me where the meeting room is…”
“I’m following the big lady’s perfume trail…” he replied.
“I know what you’re doing, Freddy” she smiled.
They had almost reached their destination when they were practically ambushed by a student.
“Bunny!” she yelled, picking up Fred from the ground and holding him to her chest.
Alice felt an unpleasant shiver running down her spine as her breath was stuck in her throat.
“He’s a rabbit” Alice corrected her, trying to stay focused as the blond bubbly girl petted Fred on his head with colourful fingernails.
“Oh, sorry!” Enid — that was her name, Alice remembered, held Fred up and squished him into her face. “Of course, you’re a rabbit! And a super duper cute one!”
Alice could feel Enid’s fingers on her head, against her scalp. She could feel her voice directly into her ears, and it didn’t feel good.
She froze, clenching her fists and breathing slowly through her nostrils while Enid was petting an extension of her soul, innocently thinking it was just an animal — but when was anything ever like it seemed in Nevermore?
“Miss Sinclair!” Larissa’s voice echoed through the corridor and Enid’s head snapped up, still smiling.
“Principal Weems, look! Miss Donkin found a rabbit—” her smiled turned upside down when she saw the expression on the Principal's face. “Am I missing something?” Enid asked, awkwardly.
Larissa gently grabbed Fred from Enid’s hands and brought him to her chest. The rabbit wriggled for a moment, then calmed down.
Alice’s heart started beating furiously, she could feel her own neck and face heating up.
“This isn’t an ordinary rabbit, Miss Sinclair…” Larissa held Fred to her heart like it was a precious thing, something to protect.
Alice hated when someone touched her creations, but in Larissa’s hands Fred felt safe.
“Oh… sorry. Is he like a service dog? But— like a rabbit? Is he your service rabbit, Miss Donkin?” she asked with a smile, eyeing the animal, then the Principal and then Alice… there was something that she was still missing but she was trying to catch up. “If that’s the case you should definitely put him in one of those ‘do not pet’ jackets… I didn’t want to upset you”.
“I’m not wearing anything that is not my waistcoat” Fred finally spoke, and Larissa lowered her gaze to him, with a small smile.
Enid gasped in shock and bliss. “A talking rabbit! And he’s British!”
“Nice to finally meet you,” Larissa lifted the rabbit to her eye level. “It’s Fred, isn’t it?”
“He has a name!” Enid squeaked, jumping up and down, thrilled.
Alice took a step closer and gently put a hand on Larissa’s upper arm. “Fred doesn’t like being held by strangers…” she warned, the last time the poor lad ended up losing a finger.
Larissa was about to put him down, without questions, but the rabbit wriggled back into her arms. “That’s okay, she can hold me. The screaming teenager needs to calm down, though”.
Enid immediately stopped jumping and cleared her throat. “Sorry…”
“Don’t you have any class to attend, Miss Sinclair?” Principal Weems raised an eyebrow at her, and Enid nodded.
“You’re late!” Fred scolded her, in a stern voice.
“Sorry! I’m sorry! I’m going now! Bye Principal Weems, bye Miss Donkin! Bye talking rabbit!” and with that, Enid was gone.
“Should we go?” Larissa sighed, “Enid can be quite… something, but she’s harmless and we have a meeting to attend”.
“Oh, I like her” said Alice with a smile, following the Principal into the meeting room. “She was very respectful; she couldn’t know Fred is a part of me, and whatever he feels, I feel it too…”
That’s when Larissa realised, she was fondly petting the rabbit’s head, between his ears — his fur was extremely soft, to be honest.
“Oh, dear— I’m— sorry, I—” now it was Larissa’s turn to blush furiously. “I completely forgot…” she apologised.
Alice gently took Fred from her embrace and smiled. “That’s okay, he said you can touch him, if it’s okay with him, it’s okay with me”.
The meeting was long and tiring. Everyone was distracted by Fred’s presence and wanted to pet him. Principal Weems had to intervene more than once, until the rabbit frantically jumped onto her lap, trying to escape everyone else’s attention. That worked, but unfortunately Larissa was once again absent-mindedly petting Fred under the desk, and Alice found it really hard to keep focus on the meeting, with a constant tingle at the nape of her neck.
She scratched it a bit, dared to cough a few times in the hopes of catching Larissa’s attention, but the Principal was too focused on explaining the new school forms for the semester. When Alice started giggling and everyone’s eyes were on her Larissa muttered a curse under her breath and stopped petting the rabbit.
“Sorry, I just— I thought of… I don’t know, stop looking at me” Alice voice got lower as she furrowed her brows.
Larissa smiled, thinking she was cute.
Fred rubbed his nose against her lap a couple of times, then he fell asleep.
Ten o’clock sharp, there was a knock on Alice’s door. She had changed into her nightclothes: no make-up, a pink pyjama and fluffy woollen socks.
Larissa was still wearing her dayly clothes, but she had taken off her jewellery and her big golden brooch, Alice noticed.
“You can take your shoes off, we’re watching it on the bed” Alice announced, taking out her laptop and starting to browse Cartoon Network. “I’ve bought some wine for you, but I’m not an expert so it might taste bad…”
Larissa ditched her heels and showed her a brown bag. “Thank you, but I’ve brought us hot chocolate…”
Alice’s head snapped up so quickly Larissa feared she might lose it. Her big grey eyes were filled with a joyous light and her smile was beaming. “I love hot chocolate!”
“I figured… I love it too, but don’t tell anyone”.
“Your secret is safe with me, Larissa!” Alice swore as Fred hopped on the bed.
The Principal joined Alice, and they started watching the show; they relaxed a bit with their hot drink and Larissa caressed Fred’s head — resulting in Alice humming pleasantly, leaning into her side.
Two hours later, Alice was happily singing Giant Woman along with Steven and Larissa was laughing, fondly. “So, that is a fusion!” she commented when the episode ended, and Alice nodded. “Well, I’m afraid I can do a few tricks like that, but I can’t do… that!”
Alice frowned in confusion.
Larissa smiled, closing the lid of the laptop. “I’m a shapeshifter” she explained.
“Cool! So, you really do have some similarities with the gems!” Alice pointed out, with a genuine smile.
Usually, people didn’t react like that when she revealed her ability… Alice was definitely one of a kind.
“Mm… but that Pearl of yours? I don’t know. She seems very talented with a sword. I wasn’t the captain of the fencing team, back in my days” Larissa lowered her eyes, a bittersweet smile appeared on her lips.
She seemed sad, and Alice didn’t like it. “Can we do this tomorrow, too?” she asked, in the hopes of cheering her up. “There are so many more episodes to watch!”
Larissa nodded, she truly enjoyed those two hours, but it was past midnight, and it was a school day.
“Same time same place” she smiled, and then she got up to put her shoes back on.
“Goodnight, Larissa!” Alice walked her to the door and before she could leave, the younger woman gave her a feather-light kiss on the cheek.
“Goodnight, Alice” Larissa’s smile grew wider. That woman was so peculiar, so strange… and yet it felt so easy to spend time with her, to be honest with her. It was nice, to finally have someone to lean on in the Academy.

“Curiouser and curiouser!” murmured Alice to herself, while her huge grey eyes scanned Principal Weems’s office.
The first thing she noticed was the large wooden desk in the middle of the room. And on the top of it, a porcelain mug with pastel rainbow decorations. Alice picked it up, smiling.
The rest of the room was dark and gothic, but that tiny piece of furniture added a nice splash of colour.
“Do you like it?” Larissa asked, taking off her long coat, placing it on the hanger.
Alice nodded, then her full attention shifted to the stuffed animals on the desk. Eyes wide and mouth ajar. “You’ve got two ravens on a writing desk” she pointed out.
“I…” Larissa joined her by her desk and lowered her eyes on the taxidermic ravens; it was the symbol of the Academy, after all… “I suppose I do” she simply replied, with a kind smile as she sat on her armchair, gesturing the other woman to do the same.
Alice sat in front of her, placing the mug down, but her eyes were still on the ravens. She was ignoring everything else, from the big stuffed bear by the entrance to the magnificent lit fireplace.
“I gather you like ravens?” Larissa smiled, ass she reached out for the papers that were sitting on the top of her desk and started reading them.
Once again, Alice nodded. “I like riddles,” she clarified, and then asked: “why is a raven like a writing desk?”
After a moment of silence, Larissa replied: “The answer lies in the quill: both may be penned, but they can never truly be captive”.
Alice blinked. That riddle was supposed to stay unanswered.
She had a few answers herself, of course, but she had never discussed it with another human being.
“Ravens and writing desks are both highly intelligent, found in a wide range of habitats, will eat almost anything and like playing tricks on humans” said Alice with a presumptuous tone.
“Also, outstanding bills are found on both of them” Larissa replied, without missing a beat, with a smug smile.
“And in French all the letters in bureau are contained in corbeau!” Alice straightened her back, a fierce look in her eyes. Was this a challenge? In her own territory?
Larissa relaxed in her armchair, the smirk still playing on her lips. She looked at the two ravens on her desk, then back at Alice. “The Mad Hatter didn’t know the answer to his own riddle, but perhaps The Raven came into Edgar Allan Poe’s mind while he was sitting at his writing desk”.
Alice fell silent for a while, contemplating.
After a long, heavy silence, she extended her hand to Larissa. “I quite like this answer. I’ll take it as the correct one. Until I find a more suitable one”.
Principal Weems shook Alice’s hand with a satisfied look on her face, then she went back to reading her files.
“You did a great job at hiding your tracks… who helped you?”
“Can’t tell. A friend… sort of… I don’t have friends, but I paid good money for the file you’re reading, so…” she was nervous, now. She felt exposed. The file was filled with lies, but she told herself that she was going to be honest with Larissa. Trust was important in her field of work.
“It’s really good. It’s not perfect, so it’s not suspicious. Good references, a nice background. I’d say I can hire you as my personal assistant without arousing suspicion” she closed the file and put it away, then she joined her hands in her lap. “Now, Alice… the real job interview…”
“I thought you already  hired me as a Hyde-hunter?” Alice voice trembled, she felt panic rising through her body. She didn’t like being questioned, not without warning.
“I hired someone who told me they were an expert in hunting Hydes, and apparently you are. But you’re also a Dodgson… which makes things a little more complicated” Larissa’s voice was calm, she didn’t seem upset, perhaps Alice could just talk to her…
The younger woman lowered her eyes. She hated the feeling of being judged.
“Charles Dodgson was my great-great-great uncle. My great-great-great grandfather was his brother, Wilfred” she knew the story by heart, it was a story she used to tell everyone at the school. Now, it was a story she was ashamed of.
“I thought the Dodgsons stayed in the United Kingdom?” Larissa tried to help her, her voice kind enough to encourage Alice to continue.
“A branch of the family, the Lutwidges, moved to the States in the 1930s – my family, however, stayed in the UK…”
Larissa nodded, mentally annotating all the information.
“It is common knowledge that Charles Dodgson, also known as Lewis Carroll, had a peculiar ability…” Larissa didn’t know hot to put it, without asking something that might cause embarrassment.
“He could bring life to the things that lived inside his imagination… he wrote a book about a Wonderland and the world was filled with impossible things” a small smile appeared on Alice’s full lips. “When he died, everything died with him”.
“But you have the same ability…” Larissa was extremely cautious, but from what she had seen, it was pretty obvious that Alice and her great-great-great-uncle shared the same peculiarity.
“Well, yes and no…” Alice sighed, wearily. She closed her eyes for a brief moment, then she stared out the window behind the Principal. “I can summon a few of the creatures he had created, but it takes a lot of energy… and I can’t always control them. Plus, if they get hurt, I get hurt… and the other way around”.
There was another long pause. Both women stayed silent, listening to the crackle of firewood in the fireplace. It was nice… it was relaxing.
Larissa was collecting her thoughts, gathering all the newest information. There were still a few questions that needed to be answered.
“How did you start your hunt for Hydes?”
A sharp intake of breath told the Principal that the question was an uncomfortable one.
Alice cleared her voice and shrugged. “You said it yourself. There are a lot of Hydes in my family. I don’t know exactly when it happened that Hydes started to breed into my family… but I know that my aunt was one. My dad’s twin sister” Alice started chewing on her thumbnail, nervously. “I was three when she snapped the first time and my father tried to protect me in all the ways that he could. He attended a school for outcasts in England, he was a telekinetic… but against a Hyde? He couldn’t do much… my mum was just… a little off. Outbursts of anger now and then, I have those too, but I’ve never turned into a monster…”
“Who doesn’t have an outburst of rage now and again?” Larissa interrupted her with a kind smile; she got up from her chair and went to the cupboard to select a bottle of wine. She decided that some alcohol was needed. After she poured two generous glasses of wine, Larissa sat back in her armchair.
Alice accepted the glass and looked at her reflection in the burgundy liquid. She wasn’t a fan of expensive wine, or wine in general… she preferred tea, but she didn’t want to decline her host’s kind offer. So, she took the smallest sip and tried not to make a face while the well known taste made her tastebuds go insane.
“My aunt killed my mother while she was transformed into a Hyde…” she said, with watery eyes because of the taste of the wine.
But Larissa misinterpreted her body language and thought she was crying from grieving. “Oh- I’m so sorry. I didn’t want to…” she sounded sincerely apologetic.
“No… it’s fine… it happened when I was six. Gosh this wine is awful!” Alice put the glass down and inhaled deeply, tapping the corner of her eyes with the rim of her coat. “Sorry… I didn’t want make a fuss; I just don’t like wine…”
“Oh- would you like something else, instead?”
“Tea?” Alice’s eyes beamed with joy.
“Sure, any particular preference?” Larissa had a secret tea stash inside one of the desk drawers, for the times when her roots might be calling.
“Darjeeling tea…” said Alice, with a tinge of hope in her voice.
Larissa found what she was looking for and pulled out an electric kettle from under the desk, filling it with water from a bottle.
While they were waiting, Alice eyed the bright coloured mug again. “Can I use that?”
That seemed a peculiar question, it was Larissa’s personal mug, and the reason why Alice was so drawn to it was unclear. She simply liked it, to be honest… she liked cute mugs.
“Sure,” Larissa smiled again and when the tea was ready, Alice seemed comfortable enough to keep talking.
“I’ve started showing signs of my peculiarity when I was three. My father always encouraged me to grow it. I was one of the few Dodgsons in generations to share the same ability with Charles, at least a resemblance of his ability. I’ve never had a vivid imagination… so, my father and I had these training sessions, it was like a game to me. He would pick a book, he would read it to me and I would try and give life to the things he read. During one of these training sessions, my aunt had one of her episodes. She was jealous of me, of my ability, my ‘closeness’ to Charles. We had ways to calm her down, lullabies, poems… but by the time I was six my abilities grew and so did her jealousy. She turned into a Hyde and attacked us, my father told me to use my powers to protect us… my six-years-old mind imagined that only the hideous Jabberwock could fight a Hyde and win, so I focused as hard as I could and I managed to summon the Jabberwock… it was amazing. Its eyes were flaming, its tail looked like a furious snake. It fought the Hyde and won, it killed my aunt and once the fight was over I had no control over it… it killed my father in front of me, almost destroyed my house. I hid under the table and cried so much until I fell asleep, and when I woke up, I was in a hospital surrounded by the police…”
Larissa listened to the whole story in awe, she handed Alice her mug and the younger woman took a tentative sip. Suddenly the room was colder, and a hot beverage was exactly what she needed.
“It’s good, thank you” Alice smiled, and Larissa responded weakly. There was a sad look in the Principal’s eyes, she didn’t dare say anything, not yet. “Anyway, my family decided that it was for my best interests to leave England and go live with my relatives in the US. For years I’ve had nightmares and suffered from PTSD, but my Rabbit and the Hare and a few more ‘imaginary’ friends helped me through my recovery. When my application to Nevermore was declined, I decided that it was time for me to do something about the family problem and I started hunting Hydes, I’ve been doing it for years, now… besides, Hydes have masters and I’ve never found my aunt’s”.
The mug was empty and so was Larissa’s glass. The office was silent again, it was a comfortable silence. Alice felt lighter, it was hard to find someone who actually listened.
“Thank you for being honest with me, Alice. I’ll do the same with you… the fate of the Academy and the outcast community is on thin ice. Your help will be vital”.
Before Alice could say anything else, there was a knock on the door. Larissa hid the wine – it was still too early in the morning – and gave permission to enter the room.
A redhead with huge glasses and big red boots was standing there by the office entrance, with an awkward smile on her face. “Sorry to interrupt, but we had a meeting…”
Larissa looked at her phone and realised she had stayed with Alice way longer than expected. She cleared her throat and stood up, nodding her head.
“Miss Thornhill, this is Winifred Donkin, my new assistant. She’s had an incident last night and our interview was delayed” she explained.
Alice shook the stranger’s hand and smiled awkwardly. Larissa was a giant, this woman was of average height and still managed to be taller than her…
“Oh, please, call me Marilyn!” she said, in a friendly voice. “I thought you were a new student!”
“The irony…” Alice replied in a flat tone, Thornhill didn’t understand.
“Principal Weems said you had an incident? What kind of incident?”
“I was attacked by a wild animal in the woods. My fault entirely… I’d suggest you don’t dwell in the surroundings of the Academy after sunset, but I’m sure you’re all more informed than I am…” Alice smiled again, her face started to hurt, she had never smiled so much in her entire life.
Larissa rested a hand on top of Alice’s shoulder. “Miss Thornhill, why don’t you show Miss Donkin around after our meeting?”
“Of course! It would be my pleasure!”
Alice was still bleeding from the attack; she was tired and exhausted both mentally and physically. The last thing she wanted to do was being shown around the Academy, but she guessed it was the right thing to do…
“You will find your bags in your room, Miss Thornhill will show you everything. Why don’t you wait outside? It won’t be long”.
A room. A bed. A shower, maybe? Yes! Finally!
Alice smiled again and nodded, happily. A little tour of the place and then the much-needed rest. She could survive a few more hours.

Your writing is so amazing! I can’t get enough!
Could u maybe write one with Larissa and normie!r who dated when she was a student in Nevermore and the relationship did not end well because of a misunderstanding. R went abroad and then comes back years later to help their godchild who is an outcast settle into Nevermore because the parents couldn’t. R and Larissa are shocked to see each other and Larissa thinks that the new student is R’s child. Then r clears up the confusion and they start getting close and try again. Thx!
Thank you so much! I hope this one lives up to expectation.
“Are you sure about this?”
You looked down into the big eyes of your godson. You gently ruffled his hair, waiting for that familiar self conscious grin.
“Don’t worry, kid. I got you. You and me forever, right?” You held out your pinkie to him.
He wrapped his own pinkie around it, that smile spreading over his face.
“Right.”
You pushed open the door to Nevermore, ignoring the wave of memories threatening to overwhelm you. It still smelt the same, the air full of the electricity you associated with her. You shook your head. There was no chance she was here, even if you felt as if she was around every corner.
“Dad said you went here,” your godson said, leading you up the stairs.
“Not quite, kid.” You chuckled, “I’m too normal for a place like this. No superpowers here. I just grew up in town and had some friends here. Like your dad. Only someone special could have brought me back.”
“But you know your way around?” he asked, “or can I give you a tour? I’m getting really good at tours.” He would have to be if he wanted to run one of the ghost tours in York. It was his dream job. Probably because it was what you were doing with your life. There was a reason he was your favourite kid.
“Maybe later, bud. Let’s get you unpacked first.”
His roommate had yet to show up, leaving the room eerily empty. His twin bed was unmade and there were cardboard boxes sitting on top of the mattress. His trunk sat at the end of the bed, clothes spilling out in a tangle. Opening up the first box you found a jumble of random possessions. You sighed.
“Kid, I have never met anyone as disorganised as you,” you said, shaking your head.
“Organisation is a waste of time in a universe so full of chaos,” he said. It was the exact thing his father said every time you complained about his office.
“An interesting outlook on life.”
You froze. No. No. You had to be hearing things, your imagination conjuring the familiar voice after being overwhelmed with memories. She couldn’t be here. She couldn’t.
“You must be Mr Gibberthon’s mother.”
You turned, internally cringing. Standing in the doorway, a wide grin on red lips, Larissa Weems was standing, hands clasping in front of her. You watched her eyes widening and her smile faltering. She breathed your name.
“It’s good to see you again, Larissa,” you lied, hoping she wouldn’t see through you. She’d once been so good at doing it. You prayed time had changed that.
“I was unaware you were here,” she said, the mask falling back into place.
“I’m just here to help the kid get settled,” you said, “right bud?”
“That’s okay, isn’t it, Principal Weems?” he asked, turning those puppy dog eyes on her. You hated those eyes. You were so bad at saying no to them.
“Of course it is, Mr Gibberthon,” she replied, turning that smile back on you.
“Principal? Congratulations,” you said.
“Thank you.”
It all felt so stilted, and you were hoping she would leave soon. The air of awkwardness was palpable. You stared, waiting for her to do something.
“Yes, well, I hope you enjoy your time here, Mr Gibberthon. I know your father did,” she said before turning on her heels and striding out.
You let out a long breath, going back to unpacking his boxes. Two sides warred within you. One to stay and help your godson, and the other demanding you flee so you never had to see her again. You would be placing a very irate call to his father once you had a moment alone. He knew exactly how you felt about her.
“You know Principal Weems already?”
You gave your godson a tight smile.
“Remember how I said I had friends here back in the day?” You waited for his answering nod, “she went to school with your dad.”
“You don’t like her?” he asked, sounding so innocent it made your heart ache.
“It’s complicated, kid,” you replied.
You gave him some space once his roommate eventually turned up with his own parents in tow. Taking a slow trip down memory lane, you wandered through the school, finally letting the memories play in your mind. Your first kiss, late nights, that argument. That argument.
“I hadn’t heard that you’d married Xander.”
You turned, unsurprised. She still haunted you, even when a world separated you. Of course she’d find you when you were in the same building.
“That’s because I haven’t,” you replied.
“But your son…” You turned to look up at her. She was looking at you, not bothering to pretend she was looking at the painting you’d been staring at.
“Is not my son,” you said, “he’s my godson.”
“Oh.”
“Although I think Xander will get some amusement out of hearing you thought he was,” you said.
“Oh God.” She pressed a hand over her eyes and you could see the flush on her cheeks. At one point in time you’d loved causing her to blush, now it just caused a sharp pain in your chest.
“I should probably go,” you said, “I sense I’ve overstayed my welcome.”
“No, please, stay. I haven’t seen you in 30 years. I’d love to… catch up,” she said.
“You would?” You couldn’t keep the incredulity from your voice.
“Please, I… I’ve missed you,” she said.
“You’ve missed me?” You knew you were about to be cruel but you couldn’t stop yourself, “really? Because I remember you telling me you never wanted to see me again.”
She reeled back as if you’d slapped her. You squeezed your eyes closed, turning away from her. You couldn’t see the hurt in her eyes. You wouldn’t be able to live with yourself if you did.
“I was hurt. I didn’t mean it.” She sounded as if she was barely in the room, so distant.
“You were hurt?”
You spun, feeling the all the anger and hurt you’d been carrying for all those years about to spill all over her. You hadn’t done this, you hadn’t caused this. You wanted to spend your life with her. She’d been the one to destroy it all.
“Larissa, I heard you. You were asking Gomez to the Rave’N. I was coming to ask you and you were asking someone else. What was I meant to do? You were my girlfriend and you didn’t even want to go to the dance with me. You were hurt? You know nothing about hurt.”
You were breathing heavily and you could feel the pressure behind your eyes letting you know if you didn’t leave now she’d be watching you cry. You could handle a lot, but not that. You hated the hold she still seemed to have over your emotions.
“I never asked Gomez to the Rave’N,” she said, “you broke up with me before I could ask you.”
“What are you talking about? I heard you, Rissa,” you said, not meaning for her nickname to slip out.
“Why would I have asked Gomez when I had you?” she demanded.
“You tell me.”
Your arms were crossed over your chest and you felt as if you were going crazy. You’d heard her, you knew you’d heard her. It had been the end of your fairytale. You were hardly going to forget that.
“Shit.” The colour drained from her face, and you thought she was about to tell you that you were right and she was a piece of shit of a girlfriend.
“Yeah.”
“No, darling, no, you didn’t hear right,” she said, “oh god. Fuck.”
“What do you mean I didn’t hear right?” You were passing right over the pet name you were sure she hadn’t meant to call you. She couldn’t have.
“I wasn’t asking Gomez to the dance. I was practicing on him,” she said, “he was helping me.”
“Why would you need to practice on him?” you asked.
“I wanted it to be perfect,” she said, talking fast as if she had to get it out before you would stop her, “you deserved the best and I wanted it to be romantic. I didn’t know anyone more romantic than Gomez and he walked in on me while I was panicking about it and he offered to help. I was desperate. Because I wanted it to be perfect. The perfect night for the perfect partner. I wanted to give you the world.”
“You… what?” Your head was reeling.
“You heard me practicing on him but the words were meant for you. It was always for you.”
“Oh.”
It was like being punched in the gut, knowing that you were the one at fault. You’d destroyed your relationship over nothing. All the hurt and pain you’d been carrying with you for so many years had been of your own making.
“Please stay,” she said, “please.”
“Okay.”
Which led you to staying in Jericho much longer than you’d originally planned. Four months longer to be specific.
Your weekends with her became the the highlight of your week and sharing a drink on Wednesday night always made your heart beat faster. The way you’d once craved her came back, insistent and impossible to ignore. Not that it had ever really gone away. You’d just become good at pushing it down.
“You’re away with the fairies, darling.”
You looked up from your mug of hot chocolate. The Weathervane hadn’t changed much in the years you’d been gone, and it still had the best hot chocolate you’d ever had. Just another thing you’d missed when living in England.
“Sorry,” you said. She was smiling softly at you and your heart clenched. She was still so beautiful, no one her equal.
“Penny for your thoughts?”
“I suppose I’ve just been reminiscing,” you said.
She placed her hand over yours. The touch of her skin against yours had you biting down on your bottom lip. You could still remember how it felt to have that touch on other parts of your body.
“About good things I hope,” she said.
“About you.”
That pretty flush bloomed over her cheeks. It was quickly becoming your favourite thing again. Life had changed the both of you but some things remained the same.
“Do you ever wonder what would have happened if we had gone to the Rave’N together?” she asked.
“Every day,” you replied.
“You know, this year’s Rave’N is next week,” she said, “I don’t suppose you’d agree to a do over?”
“Are you asking me to the dance?” you asked, doing your best to keep your cool.
“I am.”
“I’d love to.”
A bright smile took over her face, and you were sure there was a matching one on your face. Second time’s the charm, right? You thought so.

Why is a Raven Like a Writing Desk?
Paring: Larissa Weems Female Original Character
Chapter 1/?
Rating M for future smut:
Summary:  Something is putting the students of the Nevermore Academy and the outcast community in danger.
Principal Larissa Weems decides to do something about it and calls an expert.
Tumblr media
Sept. 1st, 2026
It was around four o’clock in the morning. The woods that surrounded the Academy were dark and silent. A single hooded figure was marching towards a Tumtum tree and rested their head against its trunk.
When they lowered the dark blue hood, she revealed shiny raven hair damp with sweat. The woman was panting, clutching her left hand against her stomach. Thick, dark blood was pouring trough her fingers from what seemed to be a rather deep wound.
A bleat shook the tree, and she jumped in surprise. She thought the beast was wounded and kept busy as well.
A heavy thud shook the air when something landed a few feet away from her.
A dragon-like monster was breathing heavily, sniffing the air. It was about 9 feet tall, its massive figure contrasting the tiny figure of the woman, stood 5 feet tall. Its bat wings were clearly damaged – one was bent in a funny way, the other looked wonky. It couldn’t fly.
It roared again and the woman, hiding behind the tree, took a better look at its shape. Its long writhing tail was shaking with fear; its eyes – big and round – were petrified with terror. Another warbling sound. A call for its master.
It had three long fur-covered fingers as claws and they were covered in blood, its head looked like the head of a fish with two big upper teeth and two smaller but still sharp teeth on the bottom.
“Stupid chicken! You’re drawing attention on us…” muttered the woman though gritted teeth, trying to ignore her own pain.
She inhaled deeply and looked down at her free hand.
 The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
She didn’t want it to come to this. It was hard to concentrate with the piercing pain in her stomach and the dizziness due to the blood loss.
A shiny silver dagger appeared in her hand, it had an intricate engraving on the blade and it was extremely sharp.
She was about to leave her hiding spot when another beast rushed towards the dragon and attacked it. It was so fast she couldn’t even see it properly. Just a flash of claws and enormous eyes.
The dragon bleated and with her heart pounding in her chest, the woman jumped out, running towards the two fighting monsters, holding the dagger above her head.
“Don’t you dare hurt my Jabberwock, you foul creature!” she stabbed the monster in the back, but it was too strong. In a second it left the dragon on the ground and was on her, ready to bite her head off. The Jabberwock protected her, attacking the monster and successfully hurting it enough to force it to flee.
The woman sighed, tired. The blade disappeared from her hands and when she dropped to the ground, unconscious, the Jabberwock disappeared too, in an explosion of blue butterflies.
Principal Larissa Weems found the unconscious lady during her daily morning walk around the school grounds. At first, she thought the woman was dead, but when she hit her shoulder with the tip of her pointy shoe, a strangled whine came out of the stranger’s mouth. With a surprised and sharp intake of breath, the Principal promptly took her phone out to call for help, her blue eyes now scanning the tiny figure by her feet trying to identify any signs of attack.
The ambulance took them both to the Jericho hospital; Larissa was constantly checking her phone just in case something happened at the school. She texted a colleague about her unforeseen event, and that she would be running late for her meetings.
“Are you a relative?” A doctor asked, and she was pulled down to earth from the million thoughts running around in her head. She didn’t like hospitals and waiting rooms were uncomfortable. The seats were too small, the air was too clean.
“No,” she replied. “I was the one who found her. Is she alive?”
“Yes, she was lucky,” the doctor sighed. “She was attacked by some rabid animal. She has a deep wound on her chest, and she almost bleed and froze to death. She didn’t have any ID on her but she’s stable now, she’s just woken up…”
 “Can I see her?”
The moment Larissa entered the hospital room, she was transfixed by the enormous eyes that belonged to the tiny woman in the hospital bed.
They were grey, somehow glassy. Too big for her head. She was staring right into her soul, Larissa felt extremely uncomfortable.
“Are you another doctor? I’ve already told the other one I don’t remember anything”.
Her voice was a sweet sounding, but the tone was sharp, quick. She had a weird accent, a mixture of British and American.
“I’m not a doctor,” Larissa explained, approaching the bed with caution. “I’ve found you in the woods, near my school. You were unconscious, I called an ambulance”.
Something seemed to click inside the mind of the woman in front of her, because Larissa could see the change in her eyes.
“You’re Larissa Weems” it wasn’t a question, “You’re the Principal of the Nevermore Academy” another statement.
“And you are—” eyeing her from top to bottom, she could see the signs of the attack. Baggy eyes, scratches on her pale face, a few bandages that she hadn’t notice before.
The edges of the other woman’s lips curled ever so slightly. “Curiosity killed the cat, Larissa”.
“I’d prefer if you called me Principal Weems”.
“I don’t like titles. I like names. Kings and queens, hatters and principals… they’re all going to lose their heads. Larissa might keep her head on her shoulders”.
She tried to stretch her arms and legs, but her limbs were still too sore from the battle.
“And yet, I still don’t have a name to call you by” Larissa pointed out, she was trying to keep calm. This stranger could be anyone. A threat to the school, a danger to—
“You’ll find a form on your desk where I’m filed as ‘Winifred Donkin’. That’s not my name but I was going to explain the whole situation to you during our meeting, which was scheduled for nine o’clock this morning, I guess… what time is it?” she spoke so composed, almost stoic, Larissa was intrigued.
The Principal looked at her phone.
“It’s almost ten o’clock, I guess you’re the one who applied to be my ‘secretary’…” she emphasised the last word with caution.
Two people had been killed and Larissa suspected that the cause of death might be supernatural. After a few calls, she started to fear that the creature behind the murders was a Hyde. The only logical thing to do was trying to contact someone who considered themselves an expert. She had found a so called ‘Hyde-hunter’. They had only spoken via e-mail, and they had agreed to set up a plan that wouldn’t unnecessarily alarm the school staff, the students and most importantly, the city of Jericho.
The plan consisted in hiring the Hyde-hunter as her personal secretary, so that nobody would suspect a thing. Meanwhile the hunter would be free to   survey the school ground.
Larissa simply didn’t expect to meet said hunter half dead on the day they were supposed to meet.
“I understand” she said, joining her hands in her lap. “So? What’s your professional opinion?”
The woman scoffed, sounding bitter. “It’s definitely a Hyde. When I receive a call it’s usually a bear, a werewolf or a troll… but this one almost killed me on the spot. It’s a powerful one, you must keep your eyes open. They’re never alone, the master is always one step behind them”.
Larissa nodded; her suspicions were corrected. Her students were in danger… the whole outcast community was in danger.
“I understand you have a weapon to fight the Hyde?” she asked, tilting her head.
The other woman shook her head. “I am the weapon. But we’ll discuss this when I’m out of this hospital. Can you get me out? I’m fine”.
“You’ve been severely wounded, and you’ve lost a lot of blood. I think you should rest…”
Before the other woman could answer, the doctor came in with a syringe and the woman practically jumped out of the bed, eyes filled with fear.
“No… no, no needles!” she was hiding behind the statuary figure of Larissa and it was almost comical. “I’m fine! Look, I can walk!”
The doctor smiled sympathetically, but he asked the woman to go back to bed anyway.
She insisted that she was perfectly okay, still hiding behind Larissa that was starting to find the situation a bit annoying.
 “It’s just a needle…”
“You don’t know! I once drank from a bottle that said ‘drink me’ on the tag and it almost killed me! Who put poison in a bottle and then writes ‘drink me’ on it?” she seemed upset; she was shaking and her bottom lip was trembling. Tears were pooling in the corners of her eyes. Larissa was definitely taken aback from the sudden change in her mood.
“Help me… please…” she whispered and Larissa’s heart skipped a beat as those enormous grey eyes were trying and succeeding to convince her to do as she was being told. Was she a mermaid, perhaps?
“Miss… I assure you, this is just a bland sedative. You really need it” the doctor tried to calm her, but the younger woman snapped again.
“You don’t know what I need!” she was angry now, her eyes went darker, gloomier, her voice deeper.
A dirty hare appeared from nowhere and hopped from behind her, grabbed the stethoscope that was placed next to her bed and tried to examine it.
“What is it? Is it dangerous? Is it deadly?” he asked in a quirky voice.
Larissa stepped back, eyes fixed on the animal and lips slightly ajar; the doctor was definitely scared.
The young woman was staring at the doctor with her gloomy eyes, she didn’t even blink. “That’s a stethoscope. It’s not dangerous but you could use it to strangle someone in case of extreme danger”.
The hare sniffed the object, curious. “Stethoscope” he repeated, then he threw it across the room and it hit the doctor right in the face.
The doctor yelped, covering his face in pain and taking a few steps back.
“Not like this…” the woman complained, turning her back to Larissa and the doctor and eyeing the hare who was now jumping around.
“Did I help you, Alice? Was I a good hare? Do I have to do something else?”
He was now causing havoc in the hospital room, throwing everything upside down.
Larissa gasped in surprise; she had no idea what was going on.
“Sorry— he’s a little… Jim! No!” she grabbed the hare by his ears and while he was still wriggling her lips became a thin line.
 “You’ve done enough for today”.
The hare disappeared into an explosion of blue butterflies.
She wanted to summon the Rabbit, he could have helped her escape… but it was clear now that she was indeed too weak. The simplest task was impossible.
There was no way she could summon the Jabberwock now, let alone control it.
The doctor was still under shock, Larissa seemed on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
“Can we go to the Academy, please?” Alice asked, pleadingly. “I’ll explain everything. I swear… just get me out of here. I hate hospitals and needles. They make me nervous and when I’m nervous I can’t control my peculiarity…”
Larissa nodded, what she said made sense. She was still hurt but they did have an infirmary. The hospital clearly wasn’t a safe space for her.
”I’ll sign her release papers, doctor… If the mayor or the sheriff have something to say, they know how to find me. Miss Donkin will stay at the Academy”.
Once they were both inside the car and Larissa started the engine, she finally asked the question that was running around her mind since she had seen that strange hare.
 “So… Alice?”
“Alice Dodgson” she replied, resting her head against the car window.
“And that hare?” Larissa kept her eyes on the road, but she was nervously biting her red lips. The name was infamous. She doubted it was all a coincidence.
“That would be Jim. My Hare… he helps me sometimes, but he’s unpredictable, I wanted to summon the Rabbit, but my mind is still too fuzzy… I think I need to rest a little more before I can use my powers properly”.
”You’ll have everything you need at the Nevermore Academy”.
Alice forced out a bitter laugh. ”That’s funny, because twenty-one years ago you declined my application”.
Larissa eyed the woman beside her, she tried to sound casual when she asked: “Did the council gave you an explanation?”
Alice nodded, closing her eyes. She was exhausted, her voice was almost a whisper when she spoke, already half asleep, lulled by the motion of the car.
“Too many Hydes in my family”.
