There are stories everywhere
It's part of the beauty of life, that things have the capacity for depth and fanfic authors in particular, I feel, know you can make a story out of anything.
Anything.
All this to say I'm playing Sims2, minding my own business, and some amazing characters with great potential smacked me upside the head. I don't know if I'd ever post it on Ao3 but you guys might get to see this.
More details to follow.

your post about zack fair being adhd got linked in the submission of zack to my blog @do-you-know-this-adhd-character (hopefully that tags me when this posts lol) and i wanted to thank you for the very convincing evidence. i only know ff7 and remake right now not crisis core yet but zack is my guy now. my adhd guy
Oop, thought I'd answered this! Shoutout to @do-you-know-this-adhd-character for a few days of more activity than I'd seen in a while lol. I will say, if you can get your hands on the PSP version do so, but I don't know how available that is. Having played the original first when it came out I am hugely biased but after how much love was clearly poured into Remake and Rebirth, Reunion's subpar graphics and questionable voice acting was a huge let down - for me.
But I really, REALLY hope everyone else enjoys it because everyone should get to experience the game. 10/10 would forget my equipment because I'm excited again.
Anyway, all that to say you're welcome and I'm glad you enjoyed.

Last Line Challenge
RULES: In a new post, show the last line you wrote (or drew) and tag as many people as there are words (or however many as you like.)
I was tagged by @razziecat -- I appreciate the tag! As it just so happens, I just quit writing for the day, too!
This is from towards the end of CH16 of Best in Class.
Reeve’s thumb tapped his lips, and what was Genesis to do but to press a small kiss to it?
I'm only going to tag a few people comparatively because my brain is iffy BUT! @yuzukimist, @thegeeksqueaks, @happy-orc, @asylos, @quesadilla-day and YOU!

Welcome to all event participants and everyone else trying to write a bit on here. Cherry believes in you and so do I! May you make words whenever you try, and may our artist friends find the perfect tools for their work.
A reblog to pass on well wishes would be nice, but NOTHING BAD will happen if you don't!
Tumblr media
You have been visited by Cherry, the NaNo sprite. Cherry believes in you and says you will have a good writing day soon!
Note: while you may reblog your good fortune to share Cherry’s message, nothing will happen to you if you don’t. 💜

Yearly reminder to everyone trying to find alternatives to tumblr/social media in general: go make a Neocities account and teach yourself basic HTML and post your art/writing/shitposts there.
Tumblr media
It does take extra time to set up (but there are templates out there!) but it is so so worth it to have a site that is 100% YOURS!
Tumblr media
You don’t even have to be that good at coding. I’m not. My site is not very accessible via mobile devices but that is fine with me (keeps me off my phone) but there are plenty of ways to make your site mobile friendly. There are plenty of bare bones/accessible sites I adore purely for the media on it.
Tumblr media
Imagine having your site on your phone and showing someone- hey! I coded this from scratch. And I didn’t even have to pay a company like squarespace. All your images, links, writings, in one place. I have my fandom edits, memes, fanart, and custom graphics there.
Tumblr media
Neocities has a very bare bones follower and comment system, but you can disable this if you want your site to truly abstain from any social media-isms. I use it because its a great way to meet other webmasters and get help with coding problems. Neocities isn't an exact replacement for Tumblr (no reblogging here) but html coding is an invaluable skill to know, as is keeping a personal website in this day in age.
Tumblr media
The awesome thing about having your own website is if, god forbid, Neocities goes down, you can move your site to any other number of hosting platforms (like Teacake.org). Your site is truly YOURS, and no one else (shitty tech CEO cough cough) can take it away from you.
If you need help getting started, I recommend checking out sadgrl.online. (More links to resources in the comments section of this post).
I know neocities has been talked about before, especially within my follower circle, but I thought I'd bring it up again for anyone unaware of this awesome platform.

If you're subbed to me, you've already seen the notification but please admire Orc's fantastic work.
And if not, please check out our newest work for the FFXV Reverse Bang this year:
I don't know where I'm going (but I'm going there with you)
Summary: The Adagium died on the Six’s pyre. When Ardyn wakes back up in a world no longer under the Draconian’s heavy hand, he has no idea what to do with himself. At least he’s not alone.
Tumblr media
Justa lil picture of Ardyn and Aera in the modern day, chillin in a forest. It was my piece for the @ffxvreversebang2024 and @ladykittenfair wrote a beautiful story to go with it! https://archiveofourown.org/works/54212782/chapters/137278342

WIP TAG GAME
RULES: Post the last sentence you wrote (fanfic / original / anything) and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence.
Tagged by @yuzukimist - thanks hon! The below is a snippet I just wrote in my current working on CH 16 of Best in Class.
“As long as you know you don’t have to hide from me,” Reeve insisted, “I’m not so fragile that I can’t handle such polite disagreement.”
I... am not sure who to tag, it is literally 3:30 am where I am and while I'm not sleepy I am tired. If you haven't done it -- take it! it's yours.

Sailor Moon ficcage thoughts
So, I originally had access just to the Miss Dream fan translation of the manga (Sailor Moon in whole, plus Sailor V and side stories) and I do still have that. Back in the day I watched the 90's dubs on Cartoon Network though of course they never released Stars so, incomplete even if I'd managed to watch it every day.
Now, I have access to Crystal and I've watched some of it (almost the first two seasons) but I'd need a re-watch if I was to write something from it.
Now, here's the thing:
I have kicked around the idea of writing a Sailor Moon fanfic / series for an age and here's what I would do in a perfect world -- a canon divergent fic series broken up by era and driven by two things. One, a more realistic reaction of the senshi to their trauma. (Yeah automatically darker than my usual, but prime for hurt/comfort.) So that would affect their personality a (extended to Mamoru and you have so much going on between the accident that killed his parents, his loner lifestyle while somehow taking on the mantle of Tuxedo Mask chasing a dream in utter desperation.
Also unfridging the Shitennou, because they're interesting characters who deserve exploration. Also Mamoru deserves the moral support and deep friendships and because, quite frankly, I am an avid Senshi/Shitennou shipper and I want it. #good enough
I also want to explore the family bonds of the Senshi especially. There's just no way they didn't notice changes in the girls and I really like the idea of them knowing and doing something about it.
Leave me a comment / reblog with comments / hit up my ask. You can also add to the poll below. Thanks!
Thanks again!

Break a leg! ( No, not like that D: )
So just a little fyi because I'm sure you guys have noticed radio silence. I'll spare you the long story but uh, I broke my leg at the end of January in three places and with pain comes complimentary brain fog. So I'm not stopping work on the pieces, they're just incredibly slow and I haven't had it in me to format and post.
I'm on bed rest / non-weight bearing through the end of March and we'll see what happens then. Hoping to resume posting sooner but yeah, I've been running on empty.
Take care guys. Feel free to hit me up if you want to talk about something, especially fandom somethings!
....I'll put my Sailor Moon thoughts in the next post. ;)

Magic Meta in the Compilation of FF7
Hey, quick request. I want to write up at least a lengthy chunk of my meta for materia and magic as a whole but I'm not sure what all to cover. These are HUGE topics and I'm not sure where to start.
SO, if you would be so kind as to suggest what I should write I will use those suggestions as a skeleton for a big report on how I see magic. Thank you so so much in advance! I think we'll all find it interesting. 💜

FF7 Fanfic, Best In Class
Fic Summary: This world of ours is starting to strain along its fault lines, threatening to reach a breaking point that no one can imagine let alone fix. This is something that needs to be taken care of before it happens. Changes need to be initiated from a civilian level up. In this essay I will —
——— save the world.
This is the fic we did the poll about, guys; canon divergent ReGen goodness to the tune of 'what if Genesis and Angeal had been kicked out of SOLDIER before their journey's ever began?'
Because you know having one path cut off isn't enough to send Genesis home.

Chapter 1: A New Face in an Old Debate
Summary: Even in a world where he's not a famous SOLDIER, Genesis Rhapsodos knows how to make an entrance.
Reeve laughed, short and sharp and knew there was a very good chance that his smile could be described as ‘wickedly gleeful’ but Odin’s lance he had been waiting for this. For someone, anyone to take that old man and publicly call him out as the hypocrite he was.
Well. The day had come in the form of one Genesis Rhapsodos. He was looking through the citations and noticed several of Bugenhagen’s works from over the years, several people he didn’t recognize but made note of, as well as citations from Gast, Ironheart, Hojo and—
— and him; Reeve himself was cited.
The Lifeblood of a City was, if not the first interview he’d done as ShinRa Director, one of the first, and that was why he remembered it so clearly even some eleven years later. He’d figured it was as good as any place to start, familiar with the people at Junon Academic Press as having handled articles and interviews with and about his favorite instructors and lecturers. Genesis had also grabbed The Power of Midgar which Reeve had agreed to a year ago, more or less because PR said it would be good for the department, to remind the city of its stewards’ hard work.
The fact that someone would not only find his work, but cite it in a formally presented paper that would surely not be overlooked by greater academia was a funny feeling. And it wasn’t that he didn’t recognize he was the authority in his field, he did. But it was a small group indeed who really, truly understood that.
Rhapsodos talked about his work like someone who didn’t know was majorly out of the loop. Like Reeve’s voice mattered beyond the walls of Urban Development, beyond ShinRa. It gave him a flustered, fluttery sort of feeling that he couldn’t articulate.
“I have to meet him,” Reeve whispered to his empty office.

Quick, while Trax isn't watching! Reblog for viability!
I have seen bits and bobs of this and am entranced. I cannot stress enough how cool this is. She stuck Compilation canon in a crockpot, let it stew until it broke down to its fundamental pieces, and is making something very tasty. It is, imo, so beyond "worth" seeing the bits of what she's doing. Seriously cool stuff here.
(Enabler? Who? Me? No we call that karma over here.)
But seriously. Weigh in guys, whoever follows me and doesn't follow her. It's fandom gold.
Royal AU
Okay, so, some of you-- most of you? all of you?-- know I'm working on a Royal AU for FF7. Thanks @phantasmacabre for the setting bunny. I can't even call it a plot bunny exactly, because I'm still FIGURING OUT THE PLOT, omg.
Anyway. I'm going... hard into this. Like, it finally broke my resistance (after so many years) and I have now conlanged Wutaian and a few other languages for the Planet for use, and I'm making a fantasy-style map and just...
I'm in this AU deep, guys. So my question here is this.
Honestly, I'm probably going to put together some prompt lists and see if getting some prompts for it helps me shake some things loose. We'll see.

A little over two days left. Thank you so much for the collective opinions and strong support. I will probably start posting on Thurs 11 of January, the first week after I've finished posting A Second Chance at Family. If whoever kindly added that they'd love to see some story discussion an ask or reply would be great. Even just a broad topic. Thanks you guys!
Just in case...
So there's a fic I'm totally not writing. >_> Just getting it out of my system! It's utterly indulgent. I have spent over 5000 words writing what would be a multichaptered panel talking about materia.
(The premise, if I haven't already chattered about it, is that Genesis and Angeal were rejected for SOLDIER. Genesis went on to become an influential academic. Yes he is on the panel talking passionately about materia. Yes Reeve is smitten. I can't help myself apparently.)
But yeah, I basically made this post to go "over 5000 words and I'm not done with the materia panel" I have no idea if people other than me, @case-of-traxits and @wandererriha would actually want to read this but guys, I had to tell you anyway. This is consuming me. I'm on CH8 of around-2K length chapters and I started less than a week ago. @_@
Please reblog for max exposure. Also just so you know, the poll doesn't tell me who voted for what, and I am working on the other fics at the same time. A Second Chance at Family needs one more chapter written, Dog Whistle needs some solid work for what I think is the final arc of the story, and Waltzing Through Time has an absurd amount of buffer so that's not a concern. I probably wouldn't start posting until Second Chance is done. If I post at all.
We'll see. Let me know in the poll, comments, and reblogs! Thanks for your support guys!

A VERY belated beginning
-- to @shinraholidayparty's week that ended yesterday. But I did a thing and I wanted to share it. May continue to pick at things, I've just been consumed by Scholar!Genesis in his fic.
This collection is made of out-of-order prompted fics, starting with Day 3: snowed in, coming home, baking
Tumblr media
“It’s quite the storm,” Reeve said quietly, standing at the ice-frosted windows, fingertips grazing the cold inner glass. There was no condensation, it was better made than that — he’d seen to it personally — nor was there cold air seeping in around it. But beyond… beyond the secure glass was a wild storm that was just some consistency shy of being declared a blizzard. There was over two feet of snow already, and it was a logistical nightmare they hadn’t prepared for.
Or no, he had. But people hadn’t taken him seriously until the first five inches were down. Then people were implementing his plans, then people were hitting the stores and that got ugly with people panicking and —
A fluffy head almost took him out at the knees and he took it as a sign from Genesis not to dwell too much on it. He was doing what he could. Sometimes, he had been told (had told others), that had to be enough. Even when it really wasn’t.
He’d gotten home to his penthouse in Upper Eight just before it had really started to get nasty spitting ice, where he was greeted by Blizzara and Cait Sith, the latter of whom was riding the Icicle Snow Cat like a four legged chocobo.
They were all safe, warm, comfortable and well supplied and he ought to be grateful for it. But there was a little voice that did want to whine, because Genesis wasn’t there. And there was no way he could get there; one, because it was a level three and it was illegal to be on the roads. Two, because it was just too nasty to drive even if it wasn’t. And a final resounding three, because anything other than driving was impossible with how much Genesis utterly loathed being cold.
So. Everything was nice and wonderful except for that.
Yeah.

Reblogging for next-day-morning crowd! I uh, have a title now. And a summary. And some tags. You guys have been very encouraging. Help.

For the one(s) who want me to talk about fic, anon is on if you wanted to ask about it but were shy. (I admit, I'd love to have some faces to put to all this wonderful encouragement of yours, but I respect that some of my followers are shy. It's okay! 🥰)
