What I say: I don't really find Habsburg incest jokes funny.

What I mean: I actually don't mind the jokes that much. The dynasty does have a really weird relationship with marrying close relatives. But "chin jokes" are all a lot of people tend to know about the entire history of the dynasty I study and it gets really tiring. It's also not a Habsburg exclusive thing. A lot of dynasties married close relatives and cousins. Isabel and Ferdinand? Cousins. Victoria and Albert? Cousins. Fixating on the fact that the Habsburgs did it makes it seem like it's a weird thing only they did. I'm also going to need people to stop passing around Eduard von Habsburg Twitter posts like he's an internet funnyman because his day job is legitimizing Viktor Orbán's right-wing government.
