Welcome Home - Phantom of the Opera AU

Ending 4/4

“I chose…”

You had to admit, it was a hard decision. They both seemed to honestly care about you, and you cared deeply about them both equally. How would they feel if you dated both of them, at the same time?

“Both of you.”

They both looked shocked at your answer.

“But we hate each other! I literally wanted to kill him!” Wally shouted.

“Well, I can’t chose, and I want to be able to be with the both of you…”

They were both stunned, but decided to talk it out.

“Well, if we both honestly love them…” Howdy said.

“But you’re the one engaged to them! Are you ok with it?”

“What’re you implying?” Howdy whispered.

They both walked to you and Howdy cleared his throat.

“Y/n, I’m ok if you’d like to include Wally in our relationship… but everything’s up to you.”

“I won’t let him in if you don’t want him to.”

“I’m fine with it, dear, I just want to know if I could try to be loving towards him too?”

“Of course lovebug!” You hugged Howdy, happy he was comfortable with letting Wally into your relationship.

You put an arm around Wally, ingulfing him into the hug too.

As months passed, all three of you got closer together.

You and Howdy worked in the shop during work hours, and during breaks and closing, you would go to visit Wally.

Howdy and Wally grew to love each other, and got comfortable being able to love you and one another as equals, although they did both get pretty clingy and attached to you.

One of the fondest memories you have of being together is this…

Howdy and you were walking down the stairs to Wally’s place, planning on celebrating your anniversary.

You stepped in, seeing how all three of you worked to redesign the place, you couldn’t help but feel accomplished seeing what you all did.

Wally greeted you two by hugging you guys, then invited you to sit with him.

You had all got gifts for one another, each with a different bow to represent them.

You opened your gifts to find a necklace and the other to find a beautiful painting of all three of you. You knew the necklace was from Howdy, and the painting from Wally, you wrapped your arms around the both of them and smiled.

“Thank you guys, these are so wonderful!”

Howdy and Wally both opened their gifts and were able to guess pretty quickly who gave what.

You all ended the night snuggled down to watch a movie.

Everything was perfect. No doubt about it.

Welcome Home - Phantom of the Opera AU - continuation of ending 2.

Not another ending, more of a continuation of the Wally ending.

You didn’t know what to feel staying with Wally.

Everyday was filled with constant affection, to the point it was suffocating. You longed to get away, to simply have a break.

Wally had grown concerned due the fact you weren’t sleeping as much as you used to. He understood the decision you made was rough, but he wished it didn’t affect you like this.

You were laying down on the couch you first slept on the first night you stayed, you wished you could run back to your friends, just to say hello.

Wally slowly sat down and rubbed your back, making an attempt to comfort you.

“Angel, what’s bothering you?”

You didn’t respond. You had a feeling he wouldn’t like to hear what was bothering you.

“Why are you ignoring me? Did I… do something wrong my love?” He leaned over, trying to see your face.

You turned around and grumbled, trying to hide away from him.

He got up and sighed in defeat, not knowing what to do.

“Darling, if you need anything, or finally want to talk, please, please tell me, I just want whatever’s on your mind to get out. I want to make you happy.”

You woke up at Midnight, and noticed that Wally was sound asleep on the floor next to the couch… maybe this was your chance!

You tiptoed quietly over to the door leading to the staircase, and slowly creaked it open.

Finally getting it open enough to slip through, you turned to see Wally completely knocked out.

He wouldn’t wake up for a while.

You rushed out the front door and looked up at the sky, the stars giving you a rush of joy.

You paused to think of somewhere to go, maybe Howdy would welcome you?

You sprinted over to his store and rang the doorbell, almost jumping with anticipation.

A groggy faced Howdy opened the door, yawning. He rubbed his eyes tiredly.

“Who is it?”

He looked down at you and suddenly, his tired eyes lit up.

“Y/n!” He lifted you up in a rib crushing hug.

“Not too loud.” You hushed him.

He lead you inside and took your hands.

He turned a light on and stared at you, taking in your face.

“You haven’t been getting sleep…”

“Neither have you, it seems.” You said, noticing the eye bags under his expressive eyes.

“Does he know?”

“No, I’ve been thinking about seeing you again for weeks.”

“You never told him, did you?”

“I was scared he was going to do something… violent.”

“…”

“He’ll never know I left. I’m fine!”

He hugged you softly.

“You don’t think we could ever work out again… huh?”

“I’m sorry, Howdy, but I’m committed to him, and I know it hurts, and I’m sorry I left the way I did. I shouldn’t have… I wanted you to be safe, and I stand by it.”

“Don’t get hurt.”

“He’s not like that.”

“…”

“It’s best I leave…”

“You know where the door is. Go ahead.”

You walked out, the door slamming behind you.

You rushed back to your “Home” as Wally called it, quietly rushed down the steps, and laid down on the couch.

You saw that Wally had rolled over, other than that, he was undisturbed.

Rolling over, you processed what had happened with Howdy, was he mad at you for what you did? Why wouldn’t he be?

You were overwhelmed with thoughts.

You didn’t know what to do, you didn’t know what you wanted, were you happy? Upset?

You tried to calm down, trying to breath in and out, tears now streaming down your face.

Wally heard you crying and woke up.

He sat down on the ground next to the couch and tried to study what was wrong.

He couldn’t do anything while you were turned away from him, so he scooped you up and steadied you on his lap.

“Shh… it’s ok, you’re ok…”

You leaned into his chest.

“Wally, I’m so sorry…”

“What are you sorry for, love? You didn’t do anythi-“

“I left while you were asleep to go see Howdy, I’ve just felt so suffocated by you and the fact I’m forced to stay here because of some stupid choice!”

You paused to look up at Wally, who was very obviously, pissed.

“Wally. I need you to listen to me.”

“What? What are you going to tell me now? You’ve been having an affair with Howdy behind my back?”

“You’re not getting it. He hates me for what I did. The choice I made.”

“What? You chose me because you loved him too much?”

“WALLY! JUST LISTEN TO ME!” You yelled, catching Wally off guard.

“I love you, I chose you because I love you, protecting Howdy was a bonus, I care for him, sure, but the thing we had was a thing of the past.” You explained.

“Than why did you leave?”

“Because I wanted to make sure he was safe.”

“Let’s make a deal… shall we, love?”

“What are the terms?”

“You may visit the neighbors, as long as you give me affection, no questions asked, and…”

“And?”

“You get some rest, my angel.”

You took his hand and kissed it.

“Well Mr. Darling, you have yourself a deal.”

“Tell me those three sweet words, my wonderful muse…”

“I love you.”

He laid you back down on the couch.

“Goodnight, my mockingbird.”

“Goodnight Wally.”

“I chose…”

You paused, why does a choice between two of the people you love determine your freedom of Howdy’s death? What is forcing you to chose?

“Well, we’re both waiting for an answer…” Wally said, getting impatient.

“I don’t chose ether of you…”

“WHAT?” Wally yelled.

“I don’t want to have one choice determine someone’s fate, it’s cruel.”

“That’s the whole point! Stakes are supposed to be high! It adds drama!”

“But, Are you really proving you love me by making me chose?”

He thought for a second until you interrupted.

“I promise to spend equal time with you both… I’ll visit when I can, but I need some time before I decide to jump down into some life risking decision.”

Sure enough, from that day forward, you helped out with Howdy, and you even visited Wally.

They both respected you as a friend, and you ended up having a successful career in the fine arts.

You never ended up getting married, or even hitched. But you were happy with how life went.

You didn’t just spend all your time on them, however.

You focused a ton on hobbies, and took time to become closer to the other neighbors.

After all, you were happy, and that’s all that matters.

Author note regarding Welcome Home Phantom of the Opera AU…

Is it ok to make an ending Polyamorous? I don’t wanna make anyone offended, but I’ve written two endings, both having the reader only choosing one of them, but would it be offensive to make it a polyamorous relationship??

I’ll definitely educate myself a bit before I write, because I don’t know much about it myself, but I know a lot of people were debating over which to choose…

Wally couldn’t help but get jealous as he looked at you speaking to your friend Howdy. The way you giggled at his jokes, he just stared at Howdy and if looks could kill he would be dead. 

But what really made Wally snap was when you told Howdy a flirty joke, he doesn’t care if you’re joking. “Oh Howdy, your eyes are the ocean. I could swim in them all day.” You would say jokingly. And Howdy would smile and tell you one as well. “You’re like a butterfly. So beautiful but hard to catch.” But he would actually mean it. 

Wally always knew that Howdy had a crush on you, and he hated it. He wanted to make him go away but he couldn’t just make him disappear but he could lock you up. 

As you and Howdy would be joking around he would stomp at your directions and give both of you a fake smile. And he would grab you by the arm and excuse you. And with that he would drag you away, and drag you into Home.

Once you were in Home, he would just throw you on the floor and he would blow up. Like how could you flirt with someone else! Especially if you’re taken, Wally doesn’t care if you were joking. Only he deserves that kind of attention from you. 

Wally doesn’t care if you were crying. He was hurt…

And he would make sure to punish you. And no he isn’t going to get physical with you. But he would lock you up and prevent you from going outside. Hopefully you will learn your lesson.

Of course you would be upset with him. Like come on, you were just playing around with your friend. You honestly hated how he acted, he didn’t let you have freedom or talk to anyone because he’s the definition of Jealous. 

But Wally would definitely always keep an eye on you, there’s no way out. And he’s always going to keep you company. He can talk to you for hours and if you ignore him he’ll get upset. 

“Hey Y/N…I’m talking to you. Answer me!” 

And if you still don’t answer him he’ll threaten to give Howdy a special visit. You would quickly answer and it still would make Wally upset. He hates the fact that you really care about Howdy. 

Wally has thought about spraying Howdy with bug spray. 

But after awhile, he would let you go outside. AND IF YOU DARE TELL HOWDY A OTHER PICK UP LINE HE WILL HURT HIM!

Wally is always going to be by your side now. 

Like you guys could be walking around, holding hands and if Howdy were to walk past you guys or greet you. Wally would hug you tightly and hiss at Howdy.

*HISSES* BACK OFF THEY ARE MINE!”

Wally is a very jealous boy and if you dare flirt with someone else that’s not him, oh he’ll make you pay and the other person.

“I chose… Wally.”

You looked at Howdy and lowered your head. You’d rather risk your own life, then risk him getting hurt.

“Oh My Angel!” Wally said happily, clapping his hands with joy, “you’re going to love living here!”

He grabbed your arm and smiled.

You wanted to pull away, you knew you had made a bad choice, but you didn’t want to risk Howdy getting hurt.

“Wally, may I say my final words to Howdy?”

“Why of course darling, go ahead… not like you’ll be able to do anything…” he said the last part under his breath, you still heard it, but ignored it.

You stepped towards Howdy, thinking of what to say. What words could leave the least pain?

“Howdy, I… just want you to know, this has nothing to do with anything you did. I just… I want you to stay safe.”

“Why are you risking everything for me?”

“Because, I…”

Wally stepped in between you two.

“Darling… choose your words wisely.”

You cleared your throat, “sorry… but I care a lot about you, Howdy. I want you to go out there and live your life. Don’t live with guilt, please.”

“I love you, Y/n, and I always will…”

You nodded to him, and Wally rushed him out the door. You saw him leave, Julie peaked in the cracked door, looking as if she wanted to say something, but held her head down and tailed Howdy.

“Oh my love, my darling, I can’t wait to spend eternity with you, my dear muse.”

He took your hands in his and hummed, leaning into your chest.

“My love, tell me those three pretty words… the ones I’ve waited for for so… SO long…”

You were silent. What did he mean?

“Don’t act so coy, you know what I mean…” he looked at you and smiled.

Taking a moment to process, you finally knew what he meant.

“I… love you.”

He hummed happily, but still wasn’t content.

“Say that again, angel.”

“I love you.”

He smiled at you, eyes filled with joy.

“I love you too…”

He put a hand softly to your cheek and leaned closer.

“May I?” He whispered.

“… go ahead.”

He kissed you, you didn’t know exactly what to think… but it was alright.

You both loved each other…

Wally leaned in close to you.

“So you’d risk his life for your freedom?”

Howdy stood tall, trying to show he wasn’t scared.

“As long as they’re free, I don’t care what happens to me.”

Wally smiled, as if planning something. But his thoughts were interrupted when Julie rushed into the room.

“I remember you!” She exclaimed, pointing to Wally.

“This has nothing to do with you.” He said coldly to Julie.

“I saved your life all those years ago, and what is it you said to me? You’re forever in my debt? Well… you can pay it off now.”

“… how so?”

“You let them both leave unharmed.”

You grabbed into Howdy, and looked up at him, nervously awaiting Wally’s response.

Wally glared at Julie for a few seconds, then at you.

“If you really love them, Wally, you’d let them go…”

Wally took a few steps towards Howdy.

“I love them. And I still will. Promise me you’ll care for them, and to do all they ask.”

Howdy nodded in understanding.

Wally started to cry, bitter tears falling down his face.

“Wally…” you said, putting your hand out to lightly touch his face, he staggered backwards at your touch.

He pointed to the door.

“Go! Leave!” He begged.

“As you wish, Wally.” You nodded to him before taking Howdy’s hand to leave.

“Don’t forget about me, Y/n.” He muttered out before you left, and as soon as you were out of sight, he succumbed to him tears of loneliness.

Months passed after the incident, you and Howdy completely redid the shop, and helped fix up the damages to the theatre.

Although were Wally’s hideout was located was considered abandoned, you and Howdy began to fix up the outside a bit in order to make it appear presentable.

You never gave up on theatre or singing, but somehow, Wally’s presence still seemed to linger.

Whenever you would sleep, you could hear the faint sound of an Organ being played.

A small reminder, that despite you leaving…
