Entry Three
Her name is Miche.
A young girl of no more than ten, reticent and sweet. Eyes that see much and say so little. She does not smile, but I think given time, she will. She was among many children, victim to a gaggle of hags in a long series of kidnappings.
I watched as the hag dropped her into a cauldron of boiling oil, heard her screams while she splashed in vain. So did he...and he ran right past her, leaping over the side of the tree in pursuit like some great hero of old. How utterly disappointing it was when I looked down and did not find him sprawled on the ground with a broken neck.
Yes, I aimed my arrow at the hag, but in truth, I should have put it through his head. He speaks of the balance between life and death, believing himself to be reaper and judge, but all he touches turns to ash. Even the boy he managed to save ended the night with a torn throat.
Do the others see him as I see him? If they do, they are as silent on the matter as I am..but I will let him speak, this harbinger of chaos. Let him go on and on in that simpering falsetto.
It is true, a time will come for all of us.
But his draws near.
