I feel like they could’ve actually shown Loki’s fluidity really easily, either by finding another actor that looks similar to Tom or, heck, just gave him a bit more of a ‘feminine’ look through makeup

Instead we got 1 singular female Loki, a throwaway joke about such a thing being terrifying, and now the people behind the show saying it’s “up to interpretation” 🗿

It would've been so easy, just mobius asking loki "how would you like me to address you?" / "what pronouns would you like me to use?". He knows Loki best, having him ask this would've been amazing and so damn easy to do. But they didn't. They just didn't put any thought into it, didn't research genderfluidity at all and just used it as a way to create Sylvie which just..doesn't make sense. All I want is for them to acknowledge that they've made a major mistake, but they keep throwing excuses at us and it's incredibly frustrating. Saying "it's up for interpretation" is so damn lazy.

They're also damaging cinemas and the people whose job depends on it. I don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but in Italy cinemas have finally reopened after months.

And these months have been a huge loss for our economy. So at last people can go to cinemas (safely, of course) and there's a film you know tons of people want to see, so you might earn some money after all. And then Disney marches in and gives the audience the chance to watch it from home for the same price.

So for people watching it it's the same. Easier even, due to the law that's about to pass (basically only people who have been vaccinated can access certain spaces, including cinemas).

But for the people who work in entertainment it's a huge difference.

I’m seeing a lot of posts/takes that start out “I simply can’t feel sorry for ScarJo…” and I’m just. like. who’s asking you to feel sorry for her? who’s asking for sympathy? nobody’s asking you to open your hearts, let alone your wallets. you don’t have to feel anything positive for her at all. legal right doesn’t require sympathy.

the question at hand is not “is scarjo a poor pitiable victim,” the question is “does Disney, as a corporate entity, have an obligation to fulfill its contracts, carry out its obligations, and keep its promises” and, yes? the answer is absolutely yes? your feelings on scarjo as a person should have absolutely zero bearing on the answer to this question

if anything it’s Disney who’s asking for pity, for sympathy, to be let off from having to do things it doesn’t want to do because its life is just so haaaaaard right now with the pandemic, and you know what? I simply can’t feel sorry for disney.
