China has imposed recent restrictions on its entertainment industry, including banning those under 18 from playing online games during the weekdays. What are the potential consequence of this?
Tumblr media
Chinese children and teenagers under the age of 18 will only be permitted to play online video games for a maximum of three hours per week, according to new regulations released on Monday by China's National Press and Publication Administration (Feiner & Kharpal 2021). A translated notice describing the new regulations states that minors will be permitted to play video games for one hour per day between 8 and 9 p.m. on weekends and legal holidays. The restrictions were promoted by the agency as a means of preserving the physical and emotional health of youngsters.
Tumblr media
The Potential Consequence
I think this can bring good consequences for parents and teenagers because nowadays many children under 18 years old are addicted to video games and waste their schooling. Minors are an important user group of online games. According to the "Research Report on Internet Usage of Minors in 2020" released by the Department of Youth League Central Committee and China Internet Network Information Center, 62.5% of the minors who use the Internet play games online regularly, and 56.4% of them play mobile games. In the absence of state restrictions on the time spent playing games, some children are not disciplined by their parents and are addicted to video games all day and even stay up all night playing games, which has led to many cases of children dying suddenly due to being addicted to video games all day. Therefore, many parents in China have filed complaints and reports against video game companies and even the state.
Tumblr media
For example, a Beijing citizen Ms. Liu told reporters, this year's third grade daughter summer game time in more than 5 hours a day, "only 10 years old, both eyes have been nearsighted (62.5%未成年网民经常玩游戏 国家出重拳防止沉迷网游, 62.5%未成年网民经常玩游戏 国家出重拳防止沉迷网游-中新网 2021). Not only that, but another Chinese parent also said that after his child played the game, he became grumpier and spoke louder, sometimes with disrespectful words to his parents, probably because he was used to seeing the high intensity fighting images in the game. As long as he was not allowed to play the game, he became very emotional.
https://youtu.be/Db-37OvwpPg
As a result, the Chinese Ministry of Education has asked online game companies to ensure that minors are not allowed to play games after 10 pm every night on non-holidays. This is a good way to protect the health of minors and to stop them from losing themselves in ohttps://64.media.tumblr.com/2d8b1edf13e4e61688d534bbc3f86250/45684ca30c537e6c-42/s500x750/b4401cc04f010a18181dbae7ac1bf74660bbb9e1.gifnline games. This will also allow these minors to spend more time with their parents and families.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Overall, the Chinese government's implementation of this rule will go a long way in protecting minors under the age of 18. Because the healthy growth of teenagers is not only about individual families, but also about the future of the country!

Has the Covid-19 pandemic changed the public perception of gaming?
Tumblr media
The real meaning of gaming is actually playing games designed to educate or assist in problem-solving, like in a military or corporate setting. Electronic technology playing video or computer games.
Tumblr media
The Pandemic changed the public perception of gaming
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on many aspects of our life, including how we choose to spend our time and respond to unusual occurrences. Anecdotal evidence suggests that during the epidemic, many people have started playing video games. According to Barr & Copeland-Stewart (2022), 71% of respondents have increased the amount of time they spend playing games, and 58% of respondents said that playing games had improved their well-being, with the vast majority of replies suggesting a positive influence. In fact, playing games has many benefits such as relieving stress, increasing cognitive skill development, and combating loneliness.
I think the Covid-19 pandemic really changed people's perception of games. During the blockade during the pandemic, many people didn't have to go to work and stayed at home every day, so it was inevitable that they were bored. When people were bored, they would inevitably play games to pass the time, especially during those days when they can't go out of the house. During this period, many parents will accompany their children to play games, so the relationship between parents and children has warmed up a lot. Through this long period of observation, parents can find that their children are learning a lot of skills from the game. For example, children who play video games become very responsive through video games, and some younger children grow in knowledge because they play games about words with their parents. Many parents have thus changed their views on gaming, and through this time of daily contact with their children, all the time parents have found that gaming actually brings many benefits but of course only if they are not overly addicted.
https://youtu.be/4snbtnCF6nY
In addition, because of the pandemic, education is also being taught by playing games. This is because during the blockade students are using online classes, but this type of teaching is boring so many students are lazy. So, teachers play games to attract students' interest in learning. The teachers used games on the website that allowed them to connect with each other to get students to interact with each other. This allows the students active to respond to the teacher's questions in class.
Tumblr media
Example
For example, Kahoot is an educational technology tool the game-based learning platform Kahoot! Kahoot is a free student response system that may be used to conduct surveys, lead conversations, and administer tests ( Online tools for teaching & learning ). It is a real-time classroom response system that is based on gaming. Players respond to questions on a shared screen using their smartphone, tablet, or computer, creating a communal, enjoyable, and game-like experience. With Kahoot, you can create multiple-choice tests as well as surveys and polls that collect real-time data. The quiz questions and polls encourage in-class debate and prompt immediate instructional decisions.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
In conclusion, many people changed their minds about gaming during the Covid-19 blockade. As long as they don't over-indulge, games still bring many benefits to people.

Does the toxic fans on social media damage the image of fans?
Tumblr media
What is fandom?
Fandom is a colloquial term for “fan culture” ( Fandoms: What they are and how to get into it 2019). A fandom is a fan community or subculture that has formed around a specific piece of pop culture, such as a book, movie, video game, comic, music group, sports team, and so on. This group of fans is united by their love of the source material. Even fandoms typically consist of consumers who buy the source material and its various offshoots such as action figures, posters, and supplemental books. Fans who actively participate and engage with the source material through creative works can also form fandoms. This could include posting fanfiction and drawings, as well as creating songs or videos based on the original work. People may also dress up as the characters from the source material, a practice is known as “cosplay,” or act out original scenes.
Tumblr media
What is toxic fandom?
Toxic fandom is a term coined in recent years by journalists, news outlets, and others to describe popular culture fans who engage in negative and unacceptable behaviors (Vinney 2022).
Tumblr media
The behavior of toxic fans damages the image of fans
Toxic fans can't be considered fans because they do things that are radical and hurtful to others, so they are very damaging to the image of a fan. Toxic fans will harass their favorite idol or object of affection for the sake of the object of affection regardless of the consequences. For example, they will spend a lot of money to buy the whereabouts and address of their idol. Not only that, toxic fans will attack the reputation of other idols or attack the fans of other idols by taking the name of the idol fans they adore, like mailing razor blades to other idols such as action attacks or verbal attacks through social media platforms.
Tumblr media
For example, BTS is a Kpop idol team. They were once attacked by toxic fans. With BTS's massive fan base, it's not surprising that members frequently face complete disregard for their privacy (Shinde 2022). Jungkook decided to talk to their fans in a live stream via VLive in 2019, while the group was on their Love Yourself tour. Jungkook received several calls on his personal cell phone during a fun-filled session in which the youngest member opened a bottle of wine and coined several iconic phrases. When asked about the commotion, the BTS Maknae stated that the calls were made by Sasaeng fans who wanted to confirm if the number they had was correct. The Stay Alive singer went on to say that he ignored such calls and blocked the numbers almost immediately. Obsessive fans have mobbed the BTS idols on occasion, invading their hotel rooms and invading their privacy.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
In conclusion, a qualified fan should have good character and refrain from being a cyberbully or any illegal acts of harming and attacking others. Once made illegal or hurt others and aggressive behavior are called toxic fans and tarnishes the image of fans.

How can we use social media for crowdsourcing?
Tumblr media
What is crowdsourcing?
Crowdsourcing is the practice of enlisting the help of a 'crowd' or group to achieve a common goal, most commonly innovation, problem-solving, or efficiency (What is crowdsourcing 2021). It is driven by new technologies such as social media and web 2.0. Crowdsourcing can occur at many different levels and in a variety of industries. Individuals can now contribute ideas, time, expertise, or funds to a project or cause more easily than ever before, thanks to our growing connectivity. This collective mobilization is referred to as crowdsourcing. It is the process of tapping into individuals or groups of people, paid or unpaid, who are linked together by a common interest to bring forth powerful increased results through their aggregated actions or activities. The Internet and social media have brought organizations closer to their stakeholders, laying the groundwork for unprecedented collaboration and value creation.
Tumblr media
People use social media for crowdsourcing
In today's age of social media, many people use social media to crowdsource especially in business. Many large corporate companies facing an idea shortage will use crowdsourcing to get ideas. They hold national or worldwide contests with the help of the entire web or social media to call for participation and attach rewards so that people are attracted to the rewards and the business will benefit from the crowdsourced ideas to solve their shortage of inspiration.
Tumblr media
Some companies or organizations usually use these five tips to Crowdsource Ideas. The first is to provide an incentive to participate ( How to crowdsource ideas for your organization 2022 ). Posting entry links to social media as social media is the fastest place to spread the word today, motivates people to submit their best ideas. A nice prize or even profit sharing is a great incentive for people to participate and move their best ideas forward. The second step is to make it easy. The implementation of a crowdsourcing program can be difficult. Taking part in one should not be. People will become frustrated, abandon the task, and never return if there is friction in the submission process. To make the user experience as simple as possible, use an app designed for crowdsourcing ideas. Thirdly, don’t limit the project to a specific group. Encourage people from all walks of life, especially those outside the business sector, to participate, accepting everyone’s ideas and following them to be as creative and honest as possible. Fourth, there’s the challenge of evaluating ideas quickly and fairly. Consider using crowdsourcing to rank ideas. Allowing participants to see and vote for other ideas will help to filter out the best ones fairly. Finally, there is transparency but reserved veto power. Communicating the results to participants and keeping them updated on the next steps is an excellent way to close the loop and demonstrate that their participation is valued.
Tumblr media
Example
Coca-Cola is a good example that using crowdsourcing to promote its product. Their company employees have been struggling with their advertising campaign for some time ( Moth 2013). Then the company decided to turn its attention to the online community by crowdsourcing some of its creative design work to social media. A crowdsourcing advertising contest for Coca-Cola’s advertising campaign. The contest selected entries from an initial pool of about 3,600 millions and one entry from Asia ended up being the grand prize winner among the 10 finalists. The winning campaign was much more effective than the one Coca-Cola commissioned from other agencies. It also increased Coca-Cola’s production by eight times.
Conclusion
Using social media for crowdsourcing can achieve results faster and more effectively.

Is social media useful in spreading information on Covid-19 in global or even your home town?
Tumblr media
In this day and age, the number one source of news that people receive is definitely social media. It is safe to say that any news that humans receive today, whether it is political or entertainment, is news that comes from social media. All adults and teenagers in the world have at least one social media account. The first and main advantage of social media is communication/connection. People from anywhere can communicate with anyone through social media, regardless of their location or religion. The beauty of social media is that you can connect with anyone to learn and share your views/ideas. Social media has improved people's lifestyles and raised the awareness of the audience. It is social media that helps people discover new and innovative things. Social media improves people's lifestyles and raises the awareness of the audience. With the help of social media, all the latest information and updates about important news can be easily spread. Most of the time TV, all the famous channels, and newspapers these days are biased and do not convey real information. With the help of social media, you can get facts and real information with some research.
Public Health Campaign Is Spreading Better On Social Media
During the Covid-19 pandemic, people used social media to get news and information about the situation at the moment. Government departments also used social media platforms to disseminate information about the pandemic. Not only in Malaysia, but people can also use social media to learn about the pandemic situation in other countries. During the MCO in Malaysia, the government forbids people to go out and stay at home. During the MCO period, it can be said that one-third of the Malaysian population was using social media platforms to get news and information about the outside world. The national government also realized that the use of social media platforms could make the news spread faster ( O’Brien, Moore & McNicholas 2020 ). As a result, the Malaysian government and prominent organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) have set up public accounts on social media such as Facebook and Instagram to deliver news of the pandemic faster. They have also made it an integral part of their communication strategy.
Tumblr media
Social media has also played an important role in facilitating communication between members of the scientific and medical communities ( O’Brien, Moore & McNicholas 2020 ) . It has played an important role in communicating between members of the medical community. Timely and regular updates on social media platforms between frontline physicians around the world provide a level of accuracy and agility.
Tumblr media
As an example, the Malaysia Health Campaign often posted on social media platforms during the pandemic about the effective prevention measures for Covid-19. In addition, the organization often uploaded and urged people to participate in health-related activities. The campaign has received a lot of attention from Malaysians.

How the verdict in Sim Ke Ting's case drew an outcry from activists and protesters on social media in Malaysia?
Tumblr media
Social Media Activism
Social media activism is a type of online protest or advocacy for a certain cause (Newberry 2022). Because hashtags are so important in mobilizing movements on social media, the terms hashtag activism and hashtag activism are sometimes used interchangeably.
Tumblr media
Activists And Protesters On Social Media In Malaysia
In today's networked media world, people can build groups to protest against something through the Internet. A Malaysian woman, Sim Ke Ting, accidentally hit 16 teenagers on her way home at night on the highway, causing eight death, two of them severe injuries and six of them minor injuries in 2017 (Timothy 2022). On March 28, 2017, the court found Shen Keting's not guilty of reckless driving. In 2019, the families of the 16 teenagers appealed again but argued that the defendant was wearing a seat belt, not using a cell phone, not speeding, and had the right of way, and that no warning was given at the time, so the offense was again acquitted.
But unexpectedly in 2022, this April, the family appealed again to Sim Ke Ting. This time, the judge found Sim Ke Ting guilty of reckless or dangerous driving causing death (Bernama 2022). She was sentenced to six years in prison and fined RM6,000. The case was posted online and on social media, causing a mass outcry from the public.
The majority of the internet users fought for Sim Ke Ting, saying that she was not at fault and that she was driving normally and not breaking the law. Most of the netizens scolded and opposed the parents who sued, saying that it was their own poor discipline that allowed their children to ride illegally that caused the accident. Many netizens organized and voted on social media platforms to oppose the conviction of Sim Ke Ting, a move that received widespread support and participation from netizens. The topic was followed at the time. After the verdict was announced, two petitions for the release of Sim Ke Ting appeared on Change.org, one of which stated that by 2019 the Traffic Tribunal had found that Sim Ke Ting had been driving safely and had not done anything illegal at the time of the incident (Bernama 2022). However, the accident was caused by a very dark, bumpy, and winding road, and the fact that she could not have predicted the 3 a.m. bike party. In less than a day after the two joint signatures were released, 250,000 signatures have already been accumulated.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Shen Ke Ting is currently appealing and has paid the fees to resign from prison, and the case is still ongoing. This shows that the power of digital activism is as great as the unity of ants, as exemplified by the above real-life events. Are you one of the digital activists and protester in the case of Sim Ke Ting or in other aspects?

How does social media influence the image of politicians in the minds of people?
Tumblr media
What is a personal image?
People's first impressions of you are based on your image. So, it's how you behave, how you dress, how you appear in front of the public, and how you communicate with others (Edith 2022). Harsh to say, a person's first impression of you is based only on how they perceive you to be physical. Political personnel is like celebrities. They have to take care of their image, behaviors, and appearance. Hence, their image plays an important role. Personal image is the first source of goodwill that can directly represent them in the eyes of the public people. In short, image is also part of politics.
Social Media influences politicians’ image
Tumblr media
I am sure many of you follow up with the news by looking at posts posted by official accounts or by the politicians themselves on various social media platforms. What these politicians share or retweet on social media is closely related to their images. For example, if a politician shares on a social media platform that the food he or she eats every day is very fancy such as western food or seafood, then people will have an image of that politician as being fancy or upscale, and people will think they are very hard to approach and causing them to be less approachable. On the contrary, if a politician shares that he went to eat street food or that the politician went to the area to eat cheap food, it is believed that many passersby will take pictures and upload them to social media platforms. Therefore, people will label his image as a good person with no shelf.
Tumblr media
Since social media is a platform that allows news to travel very quickly, once political personnel has any bad or good behavior, the news will soon spread across every social media to let all people know. The good image of a politician will become a good example for the people who support him. For example, Dato Sim Kui Hian who is a Malaysian politician has been kind-hearted by donating to certain organizations such as the Buddhist Association (Noriezam 2018). His fundraising spirit has been praised by many people, especially his supporters. Many people have uploaded and reposted his fundraising photos on social media. These pictures spread very quickly, thus raising his image and increasing his popularity among people.
Tumblr media
Negative Effects
Next, let's talk about the negative effects. Nowadays, social media platforms are popular with a kind of pictures called memes. Memes are pictures of people with some text called meme pictures. Some people will make memes of bad words or bad behavior of political people and upload them on social media platforms. This way the number of retweets grows and the image of the political person in the public will be very deducted.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Through social media, the image of a politician can be quickly spread not only in one's own country but also to people in other countries, where the image of a politician can be received and perceived in a short period and can be amplified through social media.

Is blogging still relevant in the age of TikTok and Instagram?
ant
Tumblr media
Blogging started in 1994 and blogs are like personal diaries that people share online or you can also interpret them as an online diary (What is a blog? - definition of blog, Blogging & Blogger 2022). In this online diary, people can talk about their daily life and the things they are doing. It is a platform where writers share their views on a certain topic. Next, people were exposed to the opportunity to exchange information online in a new way. Thus, the world of blogging began.
Tumblr media
Nowadays, with the advancement of technology, more and more attractive social platforms are being discovered. Social media has become a part of people's lives. Especially Instagram and TikTok, two popular platforms that have now taken the internet by storm! In the age of TikTok and Instagram, most people, especially young people, simply cannot go a day without checking their social profiles and information (N 2022).
Tumblr media
I don't think it's still important and relevant for blogs to exist in this era of the rise of Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms, although it still exists today. the existence of TikTok and Instagram has made it easier for people to record and share their lives. Let's start with Instagram, it is one of the social platforms, which started in 2010 till now. This social media platform where you can edit photos and then upload them (Holak & McLaughlin 2017). Instagram is a social media platform that allows people to edit photos and upload them. People can take pictures of their lives and post them with short captions, which is much easier than blogging. Not only that, but people can also upload short videos to share with their followers or friends and family without writing long diaries to record their lives.
Started in 2016, TikTok is a social platform that specializes in allowing people to share photos and videos set to some music (McGarrigle 2021). Not only that, people can create short videos with TikTok's fun recording effects. As a result, TikTok has slowly seen a huge rise in usage over the years. Many creators regularly post videos on Jitterbug, and the general categories of videos can be described as daily life, drama, entertaining short videos, and any other videos. Some young women like to record videos of themselves dancing and share them with their followers, family, and friends. This sharing method invented by Jitterbug is very attractive because it is easy to use and get information from others. Compared to blogs, where people need to read a long diary, this way of getting information from others through videos is easier to understand and makes people more interested in following along.
Tumblr media
Many bloggers have switched to Instagram and TikTok nowadays because these two social media are more attractive, convenient, and interesting than blogs. I believe that many young people nowadays don't even know that blogs exist because they have integrated into popular social media and have a boring view of how blogs are shared, or even don't know that they exist.
