So what have you been up to since this whole freaking lockdown started? For me it has been checking up on my indoor/outdoor mushroom crop, feeding my cat, playing PC games & finishing up my online school with Devry (expected to graduate this June 2020 with my bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Design & Graphics), self studying (how to freestyle rap or make parody music, create beats & remix)/creating content to teach people about my experience in fitness/mushroom cultivation & foraging and some video games I do really well on (in writing, videos and/or graphic elements) and spending time with my heroic wife on her days off. I said heroic because she’s a Pharmacist meaning a healthcare warrior! #lockdown #quarantine #writing #selfexploration #adobespark #stayhome #onlygoingoutforessentials #hopethisvirusendssoon #pray

Reflective Essay Blog
Introduction
First of, I just want to say thank you professor for the smooth experience in Emerging Multimedia Technologies (MDD410) class and to all the discussions I’ve had with other students about emerging multimedia technologies. It has definitely been a fun, engaging with lots of creative ideas from one another really made this class a really educational experience. Also, the reading assignments, homework and online research really made a huge difference. In our age of time, a lot can be found on the internet nowadays so I’m proud to present to you all a game that I’ve created using flowlabs. As you can see down below is a screenshot of the game.

• What did you expect to learn from MDD410 when you first signed up for the course? (one paragraph)
I expected to learn about modern technologies such as learning how to use different online software (or tools) and resourceful information with the help of the internet to create video games, augmented reality display, 3D objects and/or social media design interface. Anything can be done on the internet now as long as we take the time/effort to practice, enhance/refresh the different skills/talents we currently have or learn more. Learning from other people examples via google, youtube or other search engines can definitely give us more than just an insight but sort of like a walkthrough or guidance to whatever it is that we’re trying to learn more about. By experiencing, we can learn how to use any software or tool of our choice to create things such as 2D/3D design for a video game which can be used on PC, smart phones or both or a 3D object that can be printed using a 3D machine, augmented reality display and/or social media design interface. Nothing is impossible anymore, especially with the internet right on our fingertips.
 ·        What did you learn that was new or that you now view in a different way? What helped you to learn this? (one to two paragraphs)
I have learned how to share videos, 2D/3D graphics, animations, writing, typography using a basic video game I have created so people can have access to my work and learn more about the overall health (mind & body) and environmental benefits of fungi. I have also learned how to use one of Google’s features which is located in My Drive to pin point different spots where to find fungi and how to create an interactive online tic tac toe game. Furthermore, the fact that smartphones, computers and most technologies have access to the internet means that our privacy is a thing of the past.
 ·        What is the key takeaway that you will retain from the course as you move forward into your career field? (one paragraph)
I will always remember that there are ways to get your creative ideas converted into an actual invention with 3D Design which can be crowd-funded (while using the internet for resources) if the people sees the potential and usefulness of the invention. Planning, research and design must definitely be taken into consideration. There are also trends in AR/VR technologies that presents opportunity for development such as its user interface/experience. I mainly want to focus in designing graphics/multimedia because of the enjoyment I get from practicing creating 2D or 3D design and not much on coding even when I had some education/experience on HTML, CSS, javascript, mysql/php and responsive design.
 Summary
As a Student Senior of Devry University in Multimedia Design/Graphics & Web Development (with only less than 7 months left before my June 2020 graduation) I just want to encourage other students, learners, hobbyists/professionals or those who are willing to make a change in their lives or others to not let ANYONE or ANYTHING get in the way of LEARNING and ACHIEVING every single one of our goals and dreams. There has been so many negativities all over social media lately that it’s becoming unhealthy for humanity. Let’s show the world that there is indeed some decency left in us and prove the negatives wrong. We are stronger together so let’s make it a habit to work with one another instead of competing with each other until it becomes a trend. With that being said, I’m open for collaborations in both my profession/hobbies such as Multimedia & Graphic design, mushroom cultivation/foraging, fitness, dota 2/cs:go/pokerstars vr or real life poker.

Oculus Rift
Software/Hardware Name
I currently own an Oculus Rift that my wife had gotten for me as my birthday present from 2018. It’s really a powerful technology that can only be played on VR-ready PCs (with a minimum of 1060 graphics card)
Trend to Come
I believe that VR/AR/mixed reality (extended reality) will become mainstream as it becomes more and more affordable for the masses. These technologies will definitely shape the way we learn, practice certain talents/skills and play games for entertainment in this world.
My Thoughts on the Technology  “Is it something you would like to be more involved with yourself? Why? If not, why not?”
Honestly, VR/AR/mixed reality is just like social media or any other interactive games/software applications; using these pose as risk for becoming addicted or dependent on it. On the other hand, I would love to design ideas for a VR simulation/game that people may find useful. I believe a VR game about fitness, mushroom foraging/cultivation or a game similar to GTA would definitely get some recognition!

Fad or Trend
In this blog post, I will be talking to you about the difference between fad or trend in emerging technologies. So what is fad? Fad could be anything that gains popularity in a short amount of time then dies down later on. Examples of fads would be 3D TVs, Netbooks, QR codes or smartphone application games such as Pokemon Go, Draw Something or any other games that gained popularity and eventually died down. This simply has to do with superior items or Trends which replaced fads. One example of a trend would be blockchain, extended reality or AI. These three trend examples are quickly becoming mainstream due to the following: 1. Blockchain is like the platform of crypto-currencies in which data are stored such as date of transaction and other information that may relate to buying/selling of a certain crypto-currency. Crypto-currency is the future of currency as experts claim they are untraceable and more and more companies are partnering with Blockchain companies. 2. Extended reality or aka Virtual, Augmented and mixed reality are capable of bringing ideas to life. The experiences these devices can bring to any one person is truly amazing. Anyone can practice, relive, and refresh their skills/talents/memory with such technologies. It is becoming more and more affordable to obtain an extended reality system. 3. AI is pretty much being used on our smartphones, computers, TVs, Tesla cars and other modern technologies. AI still needs us to guide them but I don’t want to imagine that one day they wont need humans to tell them what to do because they will become so smart that they’ll be able to make their own decisions.

Resources for Keeping Current on Emerging Technology
Today, I’m going to discuss a few things to keep ourselves up-to-date to emerging technology. Some of the technologies we probably have heard of are augmented or virtual reality, AI, biometrics, nanotechnology, 3D printing, Drones, Robots and more.
So what are the pros/cons of having these technologies in the hand of the masses? Let’s start by talking about the pros of AR/VR and its capability of enabling simulations for humans to use and practice to learn or refresh a real-world skill/talent. I currently own an Oculus Rift and VR-ready PC capable of running certain games that are compatible with my PC’s spec. I’d say, the cons of owning an AR/VR is it can be nearly as distracting as social media where you might find yourself using it over and over every couple minutes or hours. So try not to get hooked!
AI is becoming smarter and smarter. I mean look at Google, Alexa, Siri and all of these AI technologies that can be accessed using stored data or with the help of the internet or cloud. The cons are probably when AI becomes so smart that they no longer need our command to make a decision. What would happen to humanity then? This could mean that Robots/Drones/any other machines that seems to have a mind of its own could take away our jobs/businesses and dominate the world in every way possible.
Moving along, biometrics pros are more secured bank vaults, phones or any other places/technology that may require a retina, face or fingerprint scan. The cons of having these technologies are if somebody has the intention of kidnapping you then the worst way it could go is they could attempt to cut your finger, somehow get your eye ball out or even cut your head.
On the other hand, nanotechnology pros are probably the fact that we will be able to cure any diseases in either humans or our environment that can’t be seen with the naked eye. The cons will probably be if these nanotechnology somehow turn its back against us then we’ll be in big trouble.
Lastly, manufacturing companies may become the thing of the past as 3D Printing becomes more and more affordable in our generation. The pros of having 3D Printing machines is being able to create anything we want for either personal/professional purpose. The cons will be nation wide job loss due to the fact that anyone with a 3D Printing machine can pretty much start their own manufacturing company of whatever a 3D Printing machine can print (cars, body parts, homes, packaging materials, toys, and more. . . )
