Recruiting for Destiny 2 Clan
Tumblr media
Clan Purpose: To be a community for gamers who struggle to find one.
The Whispering Mandrake [WISP] was founded by a longtime solo Destiny player who barely even ever got to raid and barely touched content outside of campaigns. We’ve grown this community to be one where players who don’t have the chance to do non-matchmade content in Destiny 2 can finally clear their first raid, get their conqueror title, and experience the full breadth of what this silly space game has to offer. Players ranging from brand new kinderguardians to years long veterans comprise this community and all are welcome to join regardless of membership to the clan in-game. As these kindergaurdians have grown, they’ve gone on to comprise teams that have multiple world’s first raid clears under their belts, grind out titles, farm GMs, and solo flawless dungeons.
There is a place for everyone in WISP!
Clan Perks:
Weekly activities including a weekly pinnacle raid run, in-house PVP, dungeon farms, and more.
A dedicated and active Staff* of guardians with multiple world’s first clears, who grind titles, and solo dungeons, ready to help you find your footing, clear your first raid, grind out your comp rank, or prepare to tackle the same challenges they do.
Seasonal rewards for our most active members.
In-house LFG system.
Pet pics. Seriously. Lots and lots of the cutest pet pics you ever did see.
Lore readings and discussions.
A community of friends dedicated to being respectful, learning and growing together, and taking care of each other.
And a ton more.
While you don’t have to join the clan to join our discord server, membership and activity in the server is required to be a member of the clan. We are not merely an engram farm and are trying to build relationships and connections.
Personally, this group is just the best. I’ve made so many unexpected friends and it’s so nice knowing I can jump into this space and feel at home. Even if you don’t need a clan, hop in and spend some time with us. There’s so much to discover in the Sol System.

Once Captain... Once Prince
So I already wrote Variks and Crow meeting, but what about Mithrax and Crow????
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mithrax is quiet as he looks at the Guardian standing only a feet meters away. There’s a deafening silence as Ikora and Saint stand beside him,
“I…” He begins, unsure of how to word his current thought, “often wondered who that Ghost that plays with the hatchlings belongs to.” He can’t quite figure out how he wants to feel. Ikora has already made up her mind,
“If you don’t want to speak to him again after this, just say so.” She sounds conflicted and Mithrax can feel a wavering in her Light. But he understands perfectly why this is so; he has heard what Uldren did. Mithrax sees the ripples of his crimes, and the ensuing hurt everyday in the faces of many hunters, and especially Ikora. He can almost see it in-
“He goes by Crow now. Has very little to do with his… Past. He is a good bird, young and reckless… But good.” Saint has no anger towards the New Light and it eases Ikora and Mithrax’s tension,
“He is little changed then, between lives. Though… he is no longer so devoted.” Mithrax notes, to which Ikora takes a deep breath. Mithrax places a hand on her shoulder, it offers little comfort to the Warlock. Still, some is better than none,
“I’m trying to separate them but-”
“It is hard for something so important to change… Ever since Osiris lost Sagira… Sometimes I still ask for him to do his little light tricks. It comes from a place of habit, but I think it stings all the same. People change Ikora.” Saint sounds sad, ever so slightly bitter. Ikora looks to him. Mithrax sees a shared pain he knows only from his own people’s eyes. The Kell sighs deeply, he has sworn to live in the present. No use dwelling on the past,
“Crow, I take it?” The man turns and Mithrax holds back the urge to bow. It has been long since he’s seen an awoken he recognizes. Crow still holds Uldren’s face, the same glowing eyes that were both teasing and ferocious. But there is an exhaustion, and innocence marking his features. Crow smiles weakly,
“Whatever you know about me- I’m… I don’t know that guy -er- me… Past me? Dead me…?” Mithrax nods, and stretches his arms,
“As long as you keep protecting my people, we will have no issues.” Mithrax has heard of the way the new Light chased away some humans from the district who had less than good intentions. Crow smiles again, wider this time. There’s a genuine warmth in his expression and Mithrax nods. He can see the prince in Crow’s stare, and old memories begin to resurface. He shakes his head. Holding a hand to his chest Mithrax recites an old poem to himself, it acts as much like a prayer now and clears his throat,
“Well. I must go. Be… Cautious of who you show your face to. Some of my people remember your face from many places.” Again Mithrax stops himself from bowing and nods in Crow’s direction. Ikora has seemingly already left as Saint is the only one standing a few feet behind. Mithrax begins to pass him by when Saint grabs his shoulder with a surprising gentleness,
“Small steps my friend.” Mithrax grumbles holding his head,
“Perhaps one day I will see him anew. Reborn under the will of the Light. But not today.”
“Take your time, Mithrax. He is at the center of a nest he cannot remember weaving.” Saint seems to see something in Uldren- Crow. Mithrax doesn’t quite know what but he is in no mood to figure out as more memories surface in his head,
“I am going to see my daughter.” He takes a last look at Crow. The guardian looks so small. Standing alone with only his ghost beside him, Crow is nothing like Uldren. Mithrax knows that and then- CRASH!! There’s a clatter of plates and Mithrax can hear Fikkis lamenting the uneven ground. But A jolt of fear or maybe recognition spikes up Mithrax’s back as Crow’s head turns toward the sound. His eyes narrow as he fixes his gaze towards the noise, and Mithrax can see Uldren in front of him ready to attack. Mithrax twitches, and Crow looks back, eyes wide and unsure, there’s no trace of Uldren’s piercing gaze. He waves awkwardly.
Mithrax leaves without another word.

Mithrax and Crow
So since I already wrote Variks and Crow seeing each other what better to follow it up with Mithrax and Crow! This is also set when Savathun-Osiris was walking around so keep that in mind when Saint talks lmao
Enjoyy

Meeting for the first time again
I need to know how Variks would react to seeing Crow... and MAYBE, maybe, insert of a headcannon that Uldren was nice to Variks and Variks was nice to Uldren.......
So I wrote it: Devil smiling emoji
Variks is silently fiddling with the terminals in his shelter. He’s hoping he can get one almost working so that he can watch human entertainment. He’s heard about the guardian’s crucible training and thought it would be interesting to see if he could catch the guardian in any of the matches. His door slides open with a whine and crackle and when he looks up from his work he nearly falls right back down.
Standing at the entrance of his shelter is Uldren. Variks is nearly convinced that he’s seeing ghosts, and then he does. A red-purple ghost pops up from behind Uldren and looks around the shelter. It’s blue eye settles onto Variks and it emotes,
“Oh! There’s Variks.” Uldren turns to look at Variks and the Eliksni feels his voice catch in his throat. There is no trace of the darkness that once plagued the prince… It is comforting but-
“Variks?” tears well in the scribe’s eyes as he backs away from Uldren. Even his voice sounds the same. Just like so long ago when the Prince would let Variks lean on him on days when his body ached. But no matter the similarities, Variks knows that the man in front of him is not Uldren. Even if the two share the same body and mind,
“I know this must be uncomfortable… I was hoping I might get to meet you again.” Variks shakes his head. He cannot get the sight of Uldren in the corner, and his wild golden stare out of his head. The sobs of despondent hunters ring in Variks’ ears like alarm bells. Variks cannot make his voice heard because he knows he will address Uldren as he always has.
“I… I know what Uldren- I did and I know how you fit into that whole mess Variks.”     “He doesn’t blame you! In case- y’know, you felt we were here to-” the ghost seems more nervous than Uldren. But he’s fiddling with his hands just like he used to. It makes Variks’ breath shake as he remembers every quiet banter he shared with Uldren.
“Yeah! I just… If you wanted to talk about… Anything. I don’t, haven’t yet talked to Mara so you don’t have to worry about me going to her. I’d keep everything between us.” Variks has never had any hatchlings but he always felt Uldren, although a prince, was his. Variks has mourned enough. He cannot go through losing Uldren a third time. The Guardian steps forward again and Variks wheezes shaking his head,
“My prince-” Finally the tears slip down his face, “Guardian. You should leave.” Uldren pauses. There is an innocence in the hurt that crosses his face, and Variks looks away to stop himself from making Uldren stay. He misses the Reef, he misses being in service to Mara and her great plans. He misses feeling useful.
    “Variks…”
“If you are looking to torment Variks, you have succeeded.”
“Thats not fair! We’re not trying to hurt you.” The ghost floated between the two. Variks heard Uldren shuffle,
“Glint. It’s okay.” there is silence between them as Variks turns his back to Uldren,
“Variks is in no mood to speak about the prison, Guardian. Another time perhaps.” The scribe’s resolve is weakening with every moment. He glances up to Uldren and see’s the small hopeful smile planted on his face. He turns to walk into another room, in hopes of crying privately. Uldren’s voice fills the silence,
“My name is Crow now, Variks. I hope we can talk more. Outsider to outsider?” Variks makes a sound as he waves the awoken away and heads into another room. He wonders as he sinks to the floor, as quiet mournful cries shake him if… Crow knows that he’s said that same phrase before. A long, long time ago.

Learn to listen
Queen Mara is busy, and deeply entrenched with a variety of issues. Dealing with Variks is not one she cares about. But perhaps... This could become a learning experience for Petra? (Literally just wanted to write Loche going a little feral and thats what I did. But also enjoy Mara chillin)
“Petra.” Queen Mara began, as she looked over documents she had been given today, “what do you think of Variks?”
“Variks, my queen? Why, that insolent creature should rot in the prison of elders for what he did!” Mara grimaced as she turned to Petra,
“Enough, do not speak of him as though he were nothing more than a bug. Speak of him with some respect, he held an incredible responsibility for a long time, and did his due diligence.”     “But, Queen Mara-”
“He- All of his people are intelligent beings Petra, and we’ve set the standard for them to be humiliated time and time again. They lost their whole planet, and we have lost much of our Reef… We are more alike than different now.” Mara watched as Petra held her next thought and nodded.
The current fact was that the Vanguard wanted Variks to live on earth within their Eliksni Quarter. Mithrax, the leader of the district, asked for the scribe on the basis of saving what history Variks still remembered. Zavala thought he had helped enough and this exile could continue on earth. But Mara knew very well that it was Loche most of all who simply wanted to have his lover closer to home. And truly Mara was so busy with every other problem her people were now facing, that she would have agreed to a compromise of keeping Variks under lock and key on earth. If only Loche hadn’t weaseled his way into the proceedings.
That too was unfair to say. Loche had been the main actor of the Vanguard’s will when it came to the Eramis incident. Loche had helped Mara a few times too even though the Warlock had never truly saw eye to eye with her. Loche had been a deciding factor in a variety of world ending issues and so had rightfully earned his place. Mara just didn’t like how angry he always seemed to be.
“Queen Mara,” Petra began again, “do you ask about Variks because of the talks you’re in with the Vanguard? We haven’t had one for Spider…”
“Spider got to earth before we could locate him. Variks is still on Europa. But I care for your opinion of him as I deliberate what to concede on.” Mara sighed again to herself. In all honesty, she really didn’t care anymore. What Variks had done was insignificant compared to quite literally everything else but Petra-
“I say we concede nothing. He can educate the House of Light from a cell.” Perhaps Mara could see if a guardian could change Petra’s mind. Instill a bit of patience in her.
The next talk Mara had was an informal one. Zavala, Mithrax, and Loche were all milling about. Mithrax and Loche spoke to each other in Eliksni as Zavala every now and then interjected in english. Petra whispered back to Mara,
“My queen, why did you want me here?”     “I thought you would enjoy being present for this. Given that Variks was under your command when he left the prison.” Petra flushed. Mara hadn’t meant anything by the comment, but clearly she had to look back at the reports and read between a few lines now,
“Well, how about we begin some discussion?” The guardians and Kell nodded.
Talk was slow. Zavala didn’t want Variks to be a prisoner in any way, Mithrax was inclined to agree with Zavala and Mara didn’t wants Variks to feel as though he’d gotten away from her wrath (Though she had a feeling the scribe would object to that sentiment.). Most shocking was how silent Loche had been. The exo had barely said a word throughout the entire conversation and it was beginning to distract Mara. Enough that when Zavala tentatively brought up how pointless it would be to make an example of Variks, Petra butted in instead,
“Pointless? Queen Mara could be seen as forgetful, and besides that embarrassment should be the last she has to suffer because of the traitorous-” Mara saw where this was going,
    “No-good-”
    “Petra, enough-”
“Back stabbing, vulturous, Fallen!” No sooner did the words leave the Wrath’s mouth did the room turn icy. Mithrax straightened his back and grumbled, Zavala stared incredulously and Loche? Loche’s eyes flickered red as he glared at Petra. Arc crackled off him and crystals of darkness crept up his arms. Petra paused as she stared back at Loche, and Mara hoped that her Wrath would remember the God-slayer in front of her,
“You’re just biased because of your relationship with Variks and Mithrax, Loche. They chose to run back to Skolas.” Unfortunately she did not. Bolts of arc surged off Loche as Zavala held his shoulder,
“As if you were any different! You hang off of Mara’s every word, and the second she came back, suddenly Petra Venj was no leader! Simply used and pushed around by bumbling guardians, pulled too thin! She couldn’t even fathom how anyone wouldn’t want to stay in a prison for the rest of their life!” No longer was there any trace of purple light on Loche, red seeped through his eyes and mouth as he strained against Zavala. Mithrax grabbed the guardians other shoulder, his voice was grave, but calm,
“I ask that you rethink your opinions of Eliksni, Petra Venj. We are a fractured people, torn between old tradition and a new way of life. The houses are a last hope of stability for us and Variks-”
“Variks chose to betray Mara, and Uldren died because of it!” Loche hissed,
“Uldren died because he was just as obsessed as you are. So don’t you go giving me a reason to defy orders. Petra.” His voice dripped with venom and suddenly Petra seemed all at once to understand what she had antagonized. Her eyes widened as she stared back at Loche, and the hurt manifested its way onto her face. Mara finally decided to step in,
“I believe that is enough.” She placed a firm hand on Petra’s chest and the woman looked so suddenly ashamed,
“I- I am sorry queen Mara. I forget myself.” Loche breathed heavily as his gaze stayed locked on. He was more like a machine in this moment than ever before. Straining against Zavala and Mithrax who’s firm resistance against him was all that stood between the guardian and threatened Petra with her very life. Mara hummed regaining control of the room,
“I believe we’ve all talked quite enough today. But from what I’ve heard I believe I’ll have a proposal by the time we hold our next official meeting, one where Variks can defend his own name.” Loche’s eyes flickered, and Mithrax perked up.
“Perhaps he can remain in a rather large and comfortable cell,” Zavala opened his mouth to interrupt, but Mara continued,
“like the entirety of your Eliksni quarter? He would not be allowed to leave unless incredibly necessary of course…” Loche all at once stood up straight. The crystal on his arms fizzled away as his arc dulled back into its regular pulses. Zavala nodded, as he released his grip on Loche,
“I think that can be arranged… Thank you for the suggestion.”
Hours later, Mara was looking through reports about what was left of the Reef when Petra walked up to her. She still seemed shaken by the revelation,
“So Loche was the one to-”
“He was.” Mara wasn’t sure if she would ever forgive the killing of her brother completely. But she was pragmatic enough to know when such an action was needed. It would always hurt her to know she’d made her brother that way. Petra couldn’t find any words, so Mara helped,
“You mourn the loss of love you never got to realize. Loche mourns the love that he is fighting not to lose.” Petra sat finally and she nodded,
“I… I acted rashly today. I have gravely offended you.” Mara smiled,
“And what did you learn in doing so?”     “My Queen? I- I do not know.”     “I think you learned that there is more to a creature than their misdeeds. Variks was always loyal, and truthfully, I believe he still is even though he left the prison. Loche is more than the stoic guardian you have always known. I think, Petra, you’ve learned to have patience with people. Know them fully before you push them too far.” Petra smiled and bowed her head,
    “Thank you Queen Mara.”
“Of course, but don’t ever let it happen again. Or I will let Loche have his way with you. I have never seen him that angry, and I’m curious what that much Light poured into a person can do.” Petra shuddered as she stood and bowed,
“Yes, Queen Mara. I’ll be off now, some… Cosairs have business to discuss with me.”

Saying Goodbye
I also got a request for my very own Loche and Variks to have a drabble
So all you Variks lovers out there enjoy pain ;))
To Loche,
Variks will begin with how sorry he is. I know that you are not going to forgive me for a very long time but I hope one day you will understand why I did this and why I had to do it without you. I know you knew how tired the prison made me, constantly on the verge of starvation, constantly surrounded by the worst of my people. Is it so wrong of me to hope? But perhaps it is because I am afraid. Afraid I will never hear from you again, that Queen Mara’s plan has failed. That I will see your world destroyed just as I watched my own. I cannot stand by helpless anymore as Eliksni die, cannot let myself settle even though I am… secure. I am weak, and selfish. Some call me a slip and coward. Some call me Kell-maker.
You called me yours.
Without any hesitation or fear, even as we stole away secret moments underneath the nose of the Queen. Such precious moments as those I will never forget. Not as long as I live, and I pray that fate and the Machine God instilled in you the strength to live. I hope that you are alive and well, and that you are just busy protecting your city… I don’t know what I would do without you Loche.
This I suppose. Abandon the prison and face her majesty’s Wrath, both Petra and Mara.
I wish I could send this to you. I love you. Goodbye.
-Variks.

Prattling on and on
Got a request for Mara and an Oc by the fantastical @fox-is-fandumb
Please, enjoyy
Dearest, Niamh
I hope this message reaches you rather timely. I should like to see you again as it’s been so very long. But of course your work for the Vanguard is just as important as keeping me pleased. Though I think it would be rather difficult for you to disappoint me, my little shrike. There’s just something about the way your eyes look at me that make it impossible to ever be mad too long…
You must be confused, I rarely prattle on like this. But I did hope I could speak to you about something rather close to me. That being the bow, your new toy, I know exactly where you got it from and hoped you would tell me just how you came to possess it. No, I’m not upset and no, I won’t take it from you. It suits you dear shrike, far better than I thought it would suit anyone ever again.
I simply… trust you. Some would say more than Petra, some would be right. There is much I do not tell her, both for good reason and because I am selfish. Even though the Awoken have distanced themselves from their past humanity, we, at our core, still branch from that singular speck.
I’ve told her little about Sjur, only what will quell her burning curiosities. I’ve told Petra even less about why I made the position of Queen’s Wrath. It has grown to be useful, but I only created it to remain close to her. In fact, besides her skills, I only made Petra my Wrath because I knew how she looked at Uldren. Queen I may be, but I could still look after my little brother. But I digress;
In truth, I wish nothing wicked to befall Petra, but I hope one day… It is you at my side. May we soon have the time to discuss it over some music together. I shall let you be in charge of where we can lounge.
Return this with your schedule. Yours,
Mara

6. Did they struggle learning their light?
Loche-9: Loche has an incredible innate connection to arc. It could come from the fact he’s an exo but Loche is gifted at chaining enemies together with his storms and he can sometimes work electric equipment. Loche also subconsciously uses it to emote, notably when he’s angry, large pulses of arc energy pour off him like a tesla coil. He did struggle learning Stasis. It seems to react strongest to his negative emotions. so while his control of it is strong enough no one worries, often times when he’s upset stasis crystals will creep up his arms. They thankfully come off easily. Harpy-4: She’s still learning Void and Arc, but solar comes naturally to Harpy. She’s had to work on controlling how hot she burns, because a few times she’s deformed her fingers using golden Gun and had to have them healed by Cor. Kyythis: Loche has been Kyythis’ mentor since they’re both Warlock’s. Unfortunately Void is the one thing Loche struggles to use. Thankfully Kyythis hasn’t been too upset learning Void from an arc Warlock. Instead its creating a specific style of Void that’s completely unique to him. Ikora helps every now and then so Kyythis learns proper form, but he’s never struggled.

5. How did they react to being revived Loche-9: Loche was confused. he had flashes of memory and what this little drone was saying made no sense. Eventually, after talking it through Loche decided to use this as a chance to help people. Then he heard about the Iron Lords and Warlords, and decided to hide away and only help people in secret. Harpy-4: She was excited. Excited about the powers excited that she came back from the dead. the only thing she really wanted to avoid was most of the responsibility the sour Warlock who had found her was talking about.
Kyythis: Kyythis was a lot of things, happy to be alive, shocked at his near death experience, shocked he was a guardian, elated he was a guardian. He fainted a few times before finally accepting his new reality.
