i keep getting sad thinking "i've seen all of ofmd that will ever exist." but then i remind myself that i haven't.

i may have seen all of the canon content, but there are nearly 29k ofmd fics on ao3, and i haven't even read a fraction of them. and new ones are being written all the time. new fanart is being created all the time. i've only experienced a small fraction of the ofmd content that will ever exist.

i haven't seen all of ofmd, and i never will, and that's because of us. there will still be new ofmd content being created after all of us are dead.

and it's all written in permanent ink.

Hi OFMD friends! I know we've been getting some hate here and on Twitter for focusing so much on the renewal campaign when actual crises are happening (I don't deny that and yes I do feel guilty sometimes). But as @jaskierx said (multiple times battling trolls, godspeed friend), you can care about multiple issues at the same time.

Yes, I donated to the HoisttheAds campaign through @renewasacrew.

I also donated a matching amount to Gift of the Givers , a disaster response NGO currently serving Somalia, Palestine, and Turkey, as well as the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund

I've been emailing HBO execs and support and sending them letters. I've also been calling and emailing my state representatives calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and aide to enter Palestine.

This is not any sort of proof or gloating about morality or whatever. This is just to say, you CAN care about multiple causes. You can care about a low-stakes one like a show, and high-stakes ones like pushing to end war crimes and genocide. There are 24 hours in a day and you don't see how someone is using them. Especially not when you're just looking at their Fandom blog and getting mad when they post about Fandom things.

Take a breath, drink some water, and keep fighting for what's right for the world and what you want for yourself. It's OK.

Traditionally, tragedies end with death and comedies end with weddings.

I know OFMD goes right up to the line where comedy ends and drama begins - but I have faith in David Jenkins and the writers that this season will ultimately end as a comedy.

If you think about Season 1, there was never any doubt that Stede was going to find Ed and they would be together again - they didn’t even leave us hanging with the marooned crew. It was still angsty, but it was hurts-so-good angst.

I’m sure that even if there’s uncertainty at the end of Season 2, it’ll be satisfying, and set up more anticipation for (hopefully) Season 3!

I know people are talking about Izzy dying in the finale, but I like the theory better that the Revenge will be destroyed. That would still be a “devastating loss.”

And they’ll get a hiatus between seasons to start Jeff’s Inn By The Sea!

throwing all logical predictions for the finale out the window because this show has consistently chosen to do the most batshit insane things that I could never even dream of in a million years so here are my new theories for things that are gonna happen in episode 8:

-Ed and Stede open up an Inn together in that ramshackle house we saw in the NZ videos

-We won't get a Zheng/Olu/Archie/Jim polycule but we WILL get a Pete/Lucius/Izzy polycule but Izzy is only there to be a bitch and blue ball himself. and also whittle cool things

-Buttons and a massive legion of seagulls descend upon a navy ship and just pick it up and fly away

-Wee John gets hired at Spanish Jackie's to do a drag show every night and a drag brunch on the weekends

-Roach and Fang hookup

-Frenchie meets an honest-to-god mermaid, possibly after falling off the boat and being rescued by them

-Rick coins the term "Getting Rick Roll'd"

-A THIRD BADMINTON BROTHER APPEARS AND IT'S RORY KINNEARN ONCE AGAIN

-Anne Bonny and Mary Read show up on a dope ass ship to help kick the navy's ass and also hookup with Zheng. Calico Jack is also there with a comically dented abdomen from getting cannonballed in s1 ep8 but he makes plenty of jokes about being an inny now

-Doug, Mary, and the kids stay at Ed and Stede's Inn so Ed and Mary can bond over Stede's quirks and Stede can bisexualize Mary's boyfriend again. Also Alma just has a lot of knives

In Stede’s near-death dream sequence, before meeting Ed, Blackbeard has his mythical “head made of smoke,” and carries a spear - which he uses to stab Stede.

In Ed’s near-death dream sequence, knowing Stede and finding hope in him, Stede is a mythical merman, with a trident - but he doesn’t use it, he just carries it.

I see the point of visually mirroring these two dreams, but I was wondering about why they would choose to give Stede a trident, other than for the look of it.

The trident isn’t just a weapon, but a symbol of creation/fertility. Neptune/Poseidon would use it to also bring water to places where it didn’t exist. You could say it’s still a spear - but upgraded to have an additional, non-violent, magical power.

I love that added dimension: this is what Stede brings to Ed - the ability and perspective to use a different tool, instead of violence, to get what he wants in life (or in the gravy basket, as it were)…

Listening to Olivia Rodrigo’s “bad idea right?” on loop and keep thinking of it in Ed’s POV.

How great would it be if Ed and Stede reunite - but not really? What if they have a messy (drunk, high, maybe a little violent) hookup at first? A “rough night” you could say.

After which Ed is like, nope, not doing that again. “No more booze, no more drugs, and most importantly, no more Stede.”

But Stede of course is even more persistent and in love as a result…. hence the casual “Hello Edward!”

I’m sure whatever is in store is even better than this but it’s fun to speculate.
