I was gonna make a jokey post about Aizen having Imposter Syndrome but it wasn't really funny so I'm gonna make this more serious.

I think when Ichigo is talking about why Aizen lost I think there's a point missing from this. If all Aizen wanted from the beginning was "deep down to be just another Soul Reaper" I think he would've been fucked over the minute Hogyoku took over.

Meaning.

He wanted deep down to have someone on his level (which is why he hates Kisuke cuz Kisuke is on his level intellectually but not uh...politically? Or strength-wise). Which is different than wanting to be weak (like Stark did).

For a brief second, he learned what it felt like to be evenly matched. No. Outleveled even. And his belief he was powerful for the purpose of standing above everyone else came tumbling down.

He never wanted to be "another soul reaper". He wanted a purpose for his power and his belief in that purpose was destroyed when he was no longer the only one.

Anyway that's how I turned my silly joke into a character analysis.
