yes offense but someone who isnt well versed in social justice discourse and has somewhat ignorant views of that stuff but who still genuinely cares about other people and actually does something to help them even if they dont necessarily “understand” them will litchrally always be superior to someone who thinks of other peoples suffering as an intellectual exercise and is only interested in developing their knowledge of theory and having all the Correct Opinions to look smart online or in their undergrad philosophy class lol

The students in PolyU (HKPU) are fighting teargas and actual bullets w/ bow and arrow.
A group of first-aiders were arrested as soon as they left the school (the vest they're wearing literally says "Doctor", "Nurse".)

 No wage gap (X) (X)
Rape is illegal and the one in 4 statistic is false (x)
No rape culture (x) (x)
Women can vote
Women can drive
Women can do what they want without a man
The “women do half the work and own less than 1% of the worlds land” stat is total bullshit (x) (x)
Women have five more rights than men (x)
The right to genital integrity
The right to vote without having to sign up for the draft
To choose whether or not they are ready to be a parent
The right to be assumed caregivers for children and get all the benefits from it
The right to call unwanted sex rape, while under definition of the law, men cant be “raped”
Women serve less jail time than men for the same crime (x) (x) (x)
False rape accusations are high and women who make them are not being properly punished (x)
Men have more issues than women and feminists are making them worse or claiming they dont exist
Misandrists head the movement (x)
Any of my followers care to ellaborate more?

How do you communicate when the government censors the internet? With a peer-to-peer mesh broadcasting network that doesn’t use the internet.
That’s exactly what Hong Kong pro-democracy protesters are doing now, thanks to San Fransisco startup Bridgefy’s Bluetooth-based messaging app. The protesters can communicate with each other — and the public — using no persistent managed network.
The app can connect people via standard Bluetooth across an entire city, thanks to a mesh network. Chatting is speediest with people who are close, of course, within a hundred meters (330 feet), but you can also chat with people who are farther away. Your messages will simply “hop” via other Bridgefy users’ phones until they find your intended target.

Progressive twitter moms be like “I’m a good mother. I have a white cisgender heterosexual son. I am vigilant in teaching him empathy and morals. I make it very clear to him that he is privileged and needs to atone for it. I forbid him from watching anything contradicting my opinions and values and force him to watch smug comedians who only make jokes aligning with my opinions. I am preventing him from becoming a the fascist he was predestined to be on account of him being a straight white male. I do this by swiftly chiding him for making any remotely edgy jokes. I make him cry when he makes edgy jokes. I’m making you think he cries because he’s having a change of heart and feels guilty but really I’m making him cry for bruising my ego by joking about a demographic I belong to. I instill the moral of punching up rather than punching down, and you might think it’s because it’s privileged but really it’s because he’s inherently evil, on account of being a straight white male. Girls naturally have more empathy than boys. This has no relevance to raising my son, I just want to make it clear that I wish I had a girl rather than a boy, because straight white men are privileged and evil. I make it clear to him that men are defective. I am doing this to keep him from becoming a fascist. I see no irony in alienating him based on him being a straight white male which makes him more vulnerable to ideological predators who seek to recruit him with the promise that they’re the only ones who will accept him for who he is. I forbid him from watching disgusting content like Pewdiepie which will only give such content the forbidden fruit treatment only for him to discover that stuff isn’t going to magically transform him into a Nazi, leading him to seek out even edgier content that I have forbidden and falling down a rabbit hole where he becomes a perfect target to said predators who promise him a way out from my parenting. I will of course ignore all nuance and blame it on him being a straight white male and thus inherently evil and lacking empathy. I am splitting all of this up among a barrage of tweets, not to give advice to gullible new mothers but to proclaim what a good mother I am. I’m such a good mother.”

I really hate how this culture has developed, both on and off the internet, among self-identified liberals/left-wing radicals/advocates for social justice etc, where the only way to exist in relation to politics and social/environmental justice issues is through call-outs and burning bridges. The whole concept of an obstinate insistence on ensuring everyone you surround yourself with holds 100% to the “correct” beliefs and values has been increasingly praised as the only way of being a Good Liberal. And sure this is definitely a valid way to live your life and if you are that passionate about the opinions you hold then good for you. However, it completely ostracizes anyone (especially those with marginalized identities) who do not choose to take this hard-and-fast stance because they value community over individualism, which is also perfectly valid. Many people are not comfortable being the person who says “fuck you” to relatives just because they’re problematic or who ruins friendships over ideological disagreements. Yes it is important to not be a bystander when toxic views are being expressed and yes it is absolutely necessary that we do our best to educate others and have conversations about social justice issues. However, this does not require that we cannot also value pre-existing relationships. It doesn’t mean we have to make ourselves uncomfortable and isolated trying to push away every person who disagrees with us. Life is not black and white and I’m sick of hearing those I care about called “apologists” or told they have “internalized whatever” for refusing to confront those in their community every single time a person expresses problematic views. It is okay to pick and choose your battles. Not everyone is built for constant war and being so up-in-arms all the time is frankly a really exhausting way to live. Please let people be people rather than battlements for your morals.

As a small woman living in the middle of nowhere and the Sheriff can take up to 45 minutes to get to my home, I think I'll keep the SKS rifle that I own. I've had 3 drunk guy, all bigger than me, come to my home wanting the "little lady" to come out to "party" with them or they would come in to "party". Aiming the rifle at their truck and telling them I called the Sheriff, expedited their departure and saved me from being raped. I refuse to be raped because you believe "Guns are not necessary."
Did you miss the bit where I mentioned rural areas being an exception?
