As a general rule, if you're having food cravings, you should probably pay attention to that, because it's usually a sign that your body needs something. Like, if you've just finished a workout and are suddenly desperately craving fries? Maybe you're low on salt, you did just sweat a whole bunch. Period cravings for junk food? Your body's under some stress and working hard, you need energy, and foods with a lot of fat and/or sugar are an easy way to get that.
Back in the early 1900's when exploring Antarctica was all the rage, y'know what was a major part of everyones daily rations? Butter. Just butter. The men out on the sledging teams would have cravings to eat entire sticks of butter with nothing else, so that was included in their rations. And that happened because under those extreme circumstances, their bodies desperately needed as many calories as possible, so their diet consisted mainly of butter, chocolate, and animal fat. Eating entire sticks of butter was the healthiest possible diet for them.
That's an extreme example of course, but my point is, there's no such thing as inherently Good or Bad food. Anything that's edible can be healthy under the right circumstances, just like anything can be an unhealthy choice under the wrong circumstances. Your body knows what it needs. Listen to it. Unless you're actively going through a serious medical situation, you do not need a tightly restricted diet. Diet culture is a scam, body fat is natural and healthy, food is good for you, and calories are the fuel your body needs to power its continued survival.

Yesterday, I got a bouquet of tulips from my parents. I didn’t realize they are toxic to cats until my roommate told me, so they are in the bathroom until I need to throw them out. Normally I don’t buy flowers for myself or the house and I felt a little sad last night when I acknowledged that. Growing up, we had sunflowers in the yard that we harvested for snacks with the seeds but that’s it. Sometimes I feel like my life isn’t designed to accommodate soft things that are considered a luxury, and I don’t know how I feel about that.

“This is a historic win, it doesn’t belong to just me… This is for every little rez kid, every little urban kid, every little Native kid out there who has a dream, who is seeing themselves represented and our stories told, by ourselves, in our own words.”
Sending a warm congratulations to Lily Gladstone for becoming the first Indigenous person to win a Golden Globe for best actress!

(cw// depression, suicide, suicidal ideation)
“you’re afraid you’re unloveable, and you’re too scared to do anything about it” is a goddamn brilliant line because it cuts both ways: you’re too scared to open up and be vulnerable, and you’re too scared to kill yourself.
you’re afraid to live. you’re afraid to die.
welcome to the gravy basket.

That post credit scene for episode 3 is so simple yet hopeful and moving. Just a view from underwater towards the surface, towards light and air.
Towards life.

Got myself an el cheapo watercolor palette to use on my art nouveau coloring book. I’m gonna cut these up and put them on envelopes I mail out to friends.
I’ve been on auto-pilot for a long time with depression and everything going on in the world; I never wanted to stop working on art or even writing bc of (insert reason), but shit happens™️ and I am trying to change it.

lmao who would have thought wwdits of all shows would give us the chance to relive the good old tradition of showrunners claiming their protagonists friendship was too pure too sully with nasty gay sex while simoultaneously making fun of fans for noticing and liking the dynamic that had explicitly and inentionally been written as homoerotically charged after it had proved profitable thank you paul i almost forgot what 2012 tasted like

you want to watch a movie. you put it on. two hours have passed. you haven’t watched the movie. there are five new tasks in front of you. you want to watch a different movie.
there is an object in your hand. it is extremely important you don’t lose it. you look down. there is nothing in your hand.
you don’t know your friend’s name. you’ve been friends for months. they just told you their name. you do not know their name.
your friend doesn’t laugh at your joke. why didn’t they laugh? do they hate you? they assure you otherwise. you know they are lying. did they ever like you?
someone asks you what you just said. did you say something? you said so many things. you said nothing. you said everything.
there is something you’re forgetting. you check. you check again. there is nothing you’re forgetting. there is something you’re forgetting.
you had something to say. you can’t remember. it was important. wasn’t it? you can’t remember.
there is a task that needs to be done. it should take ten minutes. you check the clock. it’s been five minutes. you check the clock. it’s been two days.

Yesterday I got to go on a tour of the main deck and quarters of the Western Flyer, a sardine boat commissioned by Ed "Doc" Ricketts and John Steinbeck to travel to the Sea of Cortez [aka the Gulf of California] in 1940. The boat was almost lost to history but with a lot of money and TLC, it will now be used around the Monterey Bay as a steward for education through the Western Flyer Foundation. It is temporarily docked in Moss Landing, but eventually will have a permanent home in Monterey. It will also make regular trips back to Washington, where it was both built and refurbished. If anyone happens to know the story about the antlers on the crow's nest, I'm very curious! All shots were taken with my Canon Rebel XS EO5.
