Snow on the Beach

Prompt : It’s his birthday and you don’t know what to do, ends up with some snow on the beach and some fluff

(Reader’s POV)

It was finally October, Minho’s birthday was today and I didn’t know what to give him yet.

I was starting to grow anxious, scared I wouldn’t have time to find something for my lover. He was currently at the JYP building working on the new track’s choreography. He recently started to look more tired than usual. The next comeback being around, he had pressure on his shoulders.

He always acted as if he had everything under control. He always said he wasn’t stressed or tired. But I know him all too well, he can lie as much as he wants to but I’m never going to believe him.

I had a busy schedule and I didn’t find time to go out this much. So I had to come up with a plan to give him something or at least do something for him.

The evening came quickly, I was making dinner as Minho walked into the house. I heard the door closing and he threw his keys on the table next to the stairs. He sighed as he walked towards the kitchen, “Hey kitten” he said as he walked towards me, smiling at me.

He kissed my cheek, softly grabbing my waist. He drew circles over my hip with his thumb. “Hey baby, how are you doing ?” He sighed as he softly closed his eyes for five seconds. “It was okay…” I turned off the heat of the oven.

“Don’t wanna talk about it ?” I asked, wondering why he looked so disappointed. “The guys kept messing up and you know I’m not patient…” I chuckled as I answered “Yeah, I guess they’re preparing you for later…” he frowned as he kept his arm around my waist. “Kids ?” He asked, as I giggled “Yeah… I made your favorite meal”

He smiled at me as he looked down to the pan. “Thanks kitten”, I snuggled up closer to his neck, “Happy birthday” he hummed softly as he kissed my head. “Thanks, thought you had forgotten”, I giggled.

“Never”

He laid his hand on my shoulder as he looked through the windows in the living room. “The weather’s weird today…” I looked through the windows “Why’s that ?” He crossed his arms over his chest. “It was raining this morning and now it’s freezing cold outside” I hummed in response.

I finished dinner as I placed the plate down on the table. “It’s ready”, I said to him. He was sitting on the living room couch, legs crossed together as he looked on his phone.

We ate dinner talking a little bit, I could feel he was tired. No, not tired… exhausted.

“Minho, are you sure you’re okay ?” He scrunched up his nose “Yeah, don’t worry kitten” I nodded “I’m here for you… always” He looked up at me, smiling. “I know kitten”

We finished eating and I washed the dishes. The thought of a gift crossed my mind again. Then I had an idea… the beach wasn’t far away and I know he loves it.

But I don’t know if the weather’s going to be on our side this time. I know Minho’s love language is quality time so I hope it’ll make him happy. I’ll wake up earlier tomorrow to get him a bracelet or a watch because he’s been asking for one.

But for now I needed to make a plan. After I would wash the dishes I would ask if he wanted to go for a drive. Great ! Now let’s just hope he’s not already sleeping in the bedroom.

I finished doing the dishes as I walked upstairs, hearing him humming a song softly. So he wasn’t asleep yet… that’s good. “Minho ?” I ask as I stood next to the stairs. He walked outside of our bedroom “Yeah ?”

I smiled as I pulled out the car’s key “Wanna go for a drive ?” His eyes lighted up as his mouth slowly opened in surprise “Yeah”. He walked towards me as I walked downstairs, him following me behind.

I put on my jacket as well as my boots, putting some gloves in my pockets just in case. He softly grinned at me as I giggled. “You’re cute” I said, he did his signature smirk. “Let’s go”, I said, wrapping my arm around his.

We walked outside and then towards the car. We hopped in and buckled up. I was the one driving for obvious reasons. “Where are we going ?” He asked as I smirked “It’s a secret”. He scoffed softly as he looked outside the window.

I drove for a good 20 minutes until we arrived at the beach. I stopped the car, coming out as I took a deep breath in. Closing my eyes softly until I felt a pair of arms wrapping themselves around my waist. Minho softly rocked his body with mine from side to side “The beach ?” I hummed.

“I like it”, he said, I smiled softly, opening my eyes. “Come on” I grabbed his cold hand as I ran towards the beach. The sand was entering my shoes but I didn’t care. The moon was surfing over the sea as I stopped in front of it. My mouth slightly opened in aw.

I looked back at Minho as he softly rubbed his finger over the top of my hand. “Wow..” He swiftly pulled me into a tight hug, my head was still turned towards the moon.

After a minute of comforting silence, I felt something cold falling on the top of my head. I looked up to the sky as I saw snowflakes falling on both of our faces. Minho had mimicked my actions as he also looked at the sky.

“Weird…” I said, giggling “But fucking beautiful” he whispered softly. He looked down at me, I felt my cheeks being cold as well as the tip of my nose. “Just like you”, I smiled at him as my lips connected with his slowly. “Thank you”

He pressed his forehead against mine “Thank you for being mine…” I blushed softly, smiling “I love you” I whispered, “I love you too kitten…so so much”

I was happy as long as he was

(Reader’s POV)

Everything felt wrong.

Like I couldn’t breathe anymore like I couldn’t even live anymore.

I worked all day in my studio trying to cheer myself up ever since I hadn’t slept all night. My members were all back at the dorm, we had a day off but I still decided to spend it here at the studio. I wanted to work but my mind was clouded by some troubled thoughts.

I had recently posted a picture on my Instagram account, it was the first time I posted something ever since me and the other members had our own accounts. I thought I looked pretty in the picture, for once. The people in the comments didn’t think the same way.

I had recently been all alone, ever since Hyunjin left for the tour. I was alone at home, the bed felt cold and no one was there to comfort me if I needed help. The fact that there was no laughter, no one talking. It was just me & my thoughts…I felt worse than ever. All these comments didn’t help, last night when I came back home, I didn’t eat. I felt so bad…

I went to sleep or at least tried to sleep and I ended up pulling an all-nighter. This morning when I woke up, I looked so pale and my eye bags didn’t help my state. If Hyunjin would’ve been there it wouldn’t have happened. He would’ve soothed me.. but unfortunately you cannot always get what you want in life.

People were writing things like “You’re fat” or “🤮🤮”. I felt nauseous, I never thought a single picture could make people feel this way. They were probably right… I was fat..

Now I felt like I didn’t deserve Hyunjin, I had always been insecure about my body and he always had let me know that he loved me and my body. He always said I was perfect just the way I was. But there was a part of me that still didn’t believe him completely. And that part of me has grown a lot in the past few days. I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and I felt like breaking up with him would be best…

It would be best for the both of us, he could find someone better, prettier, and I could work on myself. So when he would come back from the tour I would tell him, tell him how I truly feel about us.

For now, I will stay here trying to write songs for our next comeback. I needed to focus on something else.

When the evening came I walked back home listening to “K” by Cigarettes After Sex. Ever since winter had come, the sun was getting low earlier and the dark took place earlier. It made me feel weird but it was comforting. I had my coat on and every time I breathed from my mouth fog was created.

I got to my front porch, my hand shook as I unlocked the door. I felt sad suddenly, the fact that I was finally home and I could cry if I wanted to, made me feel overwhelmed. I opened the door and I took a shaky breath in, as tears formed in my eyes. I let my keys fall to the table next to the stairs as I put my coat on the hanger next to the front door.

Suddenly I could feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket. As I pulled it out I saw the contact name, it was Hyunjin, he was calling me… but why ?

Isn’t he busy ? He doesn’t have time for me…

I answered the call as I put on a smile on my face trying to ignore my sadness. “Hi ?” Hyunjin’s voice answered, “Hi angel” I smiled at the tone of his voice as I leaned on the wall. “Are you okay ?” I asked, “Yeah, I got a surprise for you..” I raised my eyebrows in curiosity. “A surprise ?” I asked, “Yeah a surprise… Can you do something for me angel ?” I hummed, “Close your eyes for me okay ?” I closed my eyes “Great now relax..”

I relaxed my shoulders as I kept my eyes closed.

I suddenly felt arms wrapping around my waist as the line of my phone beeped, indicating the call had ended. “Hey angel” I heard Hyunjin whisper in my ear as my eyes opened. I backed up against the wall, as tears filled my eyes. “Hyunjin…” I stared at him with glossy eyes.

“Angel.. what’s wrong ?” He stepped back as he took a look at me. “Why.. why are you here..?” Hyunjin frowned. “To see you… I came back from tour an hour ago.. thought I’d surprise you” I stuttered. “I-I…” Hyunjin wrapped his arms around my waist as he pulled me towards him. “Shh.. it’s okay.. I’m here baby” I cried in his arms.

“I know… I know why you’re like this and you shouldn’t.. it’s okay baby” I cried harder “I saw the comments..” I felt like my walls had come down. “You’re so beautiful… my baby” I tightened my grip against him not wanting to let go.

“I don’t deserve you..” Hyunjin let out a small sigh. “No… I don’t deserve you” he sighed softly, “You know…” he pulled away. “I get these comments every time I post something too.. I bet you didn’t even notice the ones telling you, you were pretty… you only focused on the bad ones” He smiled softly as a tear rolled down his cheek. “You’re so beautiful my love, it's not because five people said the opposite that it means it’s true…”

“They’re probably jealous anyway” he hugged me back again. “I’m here… I’m here now and I’m not leaving for a good while alright..?” I nodded against his chest. “Everything will be alright..” I closed my eyes as I felt his heartbeat ringing in my ears.

“I love you.. more than anything in the world” I smiled as I looked at him with tears in my eyes. “I love you too”, he kissed me softly, everything felt just right… just like it used to be. He was home and it felt like home at last…
