Kataang Week, Day One: Height Difference
Hey, sometimes you just need a little lift ;) Especially when your boyfriend has grown up to be the hot, tall man of your dreams!
Done on commission for Kataang Week by the fabulous @iraya!
[Image Description: Digital fanart of adult Katara and Aang, full body. They are standing facing each other, with Aang in his formal Air Nomad robes and Katara in traditional Southern Water Tribe dress of anorak-inspired blouse, long skir and boots with fur trimming. Katara is standing on a box that makes her nearly the same height as Aang. He has an arm around her waist, and they are clasping hands and kissing. /end ID]

Kataang Week, Day Three: Post-Canon
It is my belief that well after the end of the war, there were many Kataang picnics and much Katara hair-worship by Aang while Cranefish Town was being built into Republic City and Air Temple Island was being shaped into their future home!
Done on commission for Kataang Week by the one and only @hippano! Thank you so much!
[Image Description: Digital fanart of adult Katara and Aang, three-quarters body. They are sitting on a blanket on Air Temple Island in a wooded, grassy area. Katara is dressed in a Southern Water Tribe outfit of fur-trimmed vest, belt, arm wraps and long skirt. Aang is wearing Air Nomad robes of collared blouse, sash and pants. Katara is facing away from Aang with her eyes closed as he brushes her hair. /end ID]

OMFG, this is exactly what I wanted! I am so amazed at your talent and how you’re able to just ... DO this! I definitely would love a sequel if you’re up to it. Thank you so much!!
Greg Lestrade/Reader - Rupert Graves Birthday Auction Fic - PG rated
The wonderful @imagine-mystrade bid for my story in the Birthday Auction this year and won it. Thank you so much for your donation to YoungMinds! And thank you even more for this great prompt that was so much fun to write. I hope you will be able to tell just how much I enjoyed writing this and that you will love the story. The rating felt right for the moment but … there might be a sequel waiting in the future if people are interested?
@imagine-mystrade wrote: I am in the mood for something cute and cheesy. I also miss BBC Sherlock a lot. I was thinking about Lestrade falling for his dog trainer/groomer? He gets a dog to stave off loneliness and the dog has to be trained and/or groomed and the groomer is hot. Maybe she and Lestrade have crossed paths before? But this time nature takes its course.
Oh, and just because this cutie showed up on my dash the day I got the prompt and I couldn’t stop thinking about it and you should all see it and maybe also because it appears in the story: Here you go!

a common and insidious trope that i hate and have been noticing a lot lately in contemporary media is what i like to call colorblind abuse of power. every time a story(and this is happens a lot in like, sci fi and superhero media but really it spans all genres) deals with things like class inequality, american imperialism, cop propaganda, unethical scientific practices, etc… they cast people of color. the classic one is the black cop, which is so laughably pervasive that it actually surprises me when the background cop characters are all white. but also, like, the evil CEO or mean boss or manager or person in a position of power that just so happens to be brown.  or how in the show the boys, the military/FBI room that’s watching “terrorists” in the middle east just happens to be more than half black and brown people. same in shows about politics/white house/governments/surveillance agencies. or when a main character has vague flashback recalling how they were used as test subjects, and the scientists just so happen to be people of color. these characters are not important, they are rarely even be named, half of the time they don’t have lines. we are not supposed to notice them beyond their conceptual existence filling the necessary role in the plot. but the casting of actors is never accidental – they are there to purposefully misguide away from and obfuscate the fact that irl the great majority of abuses of power is directly linked to white supremacy -__- 🚬🚬

First off, I’m an American. What the fuck is your problem? I know what fucking happened yesterday.
Secondly, I’m Jewish and I have family members two and three generations back who died in the camps. So don’t fucking talk down to me like I’m some child when I have direct history dealing with the sort of fascism that was on display yesterday.
Thirdly, I’m not a minor.
Like, literally, the fact that you’re basically telling a Jewish blogger who is also an American to shut up because there was an attempted coup here yesterday tells me all I need to know about you. Bye.
The Polygaang Multishipper Canon-Compliant Trashfire
DISCLAIMER:
I feel like I never write weird head-canons on here so forgive me while I step into potentially dangerous territory as a multishipper who is also a big fan of TRYING to stay canon-compliant (mostly as a challenge for myself) which usually creates some angst and hurt/comfort, so if you are not a fan of that turn away now! Also SPOILERS FOR Avatar the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra.
I am also high so keep in mind that this ATLA multishipper pipe dream came from the simple observation that:
"Kya doesn't look a ton like her brothers"
Tumblr media
Premise:
Post ATLA, Aang, Katara, Mai, Zuko and a lot of others from "The Gaang" and co. have a dysfunctional relationship with each other but it isn't enough to destroy their alliance, nor do they ever want to rub that drama off on their communally raised children. Still, there was a LOT of drama, so much so that it could have messed things up politically if the wrong things were discovered at the wrong times.
Let's talk about it more below:
So Kya's vague character design honestly got me thinking (I am sure this was accidental but humor me), especially when we discovered her and Aang didn't have the best relationship and that she went on a long trip to "find herself". Still, it was nice that he at the very least suported her when she came out as a leabian.
And then it hit me in my super high state:
WHAT IF...one reson Aang was not only supportive, but relieved Kya was a lesbian, was because she would not have blood-heirs, which would make the uncomfortable fact that she is second-in-line to the Fire Lord's throne (soap-opera sounds) less threatening to the reputation of Zuko's family if Izumi suddenly decides she doesn’t want to be Fire Lord... since the Fire Nation is still deeply traditional and such a scandal may cause conflict.
Zuko plans on abdicating as soon as he can, hoping that Izumi will enjoy the role if she gets to be fire lord when she's younger. (Oh god is he becoming his father? Why did he and Katara decide to have a mid-life crisis so early? Why did the time periods have to align so perfectly? Why did he do this to himself? Why did he do this to Aang and Mai?)
Overall, Zuko and Aang have agreed it is easier to keep things civil for now. Besides, they care too much about Katara to make a huge deal about it, and they both know she is ultimately the boss and knows when it will be time to reveal the truth to Kya. Hopefully, if everyone plays their part and does this right no one will end up too traumatized by the predicament.
To the surprize to almost eveyone but Toph, Mai is initially indifferent to the entire ordeal, given that Zuko did not leave despite his...wandering. In fact, she finds Zuko's idiocy to be endearing and the drama to be a delightful break from the perfection in her life that makes her not only revel in the drama, but thirst for more...
After Toph shares her solo-poly lifestyle with Mai, Mai discoveres a whole new world. She and Aang soon arrange a party behind Zuko and Katara's back, and after a night of shenanigangs, Sokka, Suki, Aang and Toph question their life choices. In an attempt to fight their jelousy of not being invited to the party, Zuko and Katara continue their bad habbits, and more shenanigans ensue.
Aang, who as an airbender struggless to understand why the fire nation is so obsessed with arbitrary blood lines and static monogamous relationships, focuces the majority of his attention on trying to understand why he is incapable of being the type or "father" that Katara wants him to be, as she is incapable of explaining it to him since her father was, albeit a good one, gone most of her life. Aang is also oblivious to the fact that he seems to be increasingly concerned with Bumi's lack of airbending powers. Katara questions whether he should have another child with her until he promises he will still love Bumi if they do have an airbender one day.
Ultimately, Aang manages to bond with Zuko again over parenting advice in his later years, as Zuko attempts to practice the opposite of what his own father did and he believes it to be working with Izumi. Although Aang doesn't fully manage to gain Kya's full respect, she does embrace air nomad culture later in life after discovering the truth.
So yeah...that's sort of what I have thought of so far. If I wrote a fic, it would be way to long and complicated, so gonna store it in my brain and pretend it didn't happen (like Katara and Zuko at the beginning of this fic lol lol lol lol lol god 2020 did a number on me didn't it?).
All I know is it would involve a ton of domestic fluff and drama. There would be at least a few drunken fights between many parties. Iroh would be the communal baby sitter. Obviously we'd need a love circle between the ladies, and lets not forget the obligatory fling between Sokka and Zuko. OH...and of course...we cannot miss the fact that Kya was named after Katara's mother, and the idea that Zuko inspired her when he mentioned that he considered naming Izumi after his mother before they found her alive (because we all love that angst). OH and obviously, the obligatory journey of Kya finding the courage to talk to Zuko, Aang, and her brothers while on her journey to find herself once she knows her truth.
Afterall, part of growing up is learning that you never really grow up, and neither do your parents.
Dunno, the clues are all there so it would work as canon compliant with a few tweaks. I feel like cartoons geared for adults always skimp on the mid-life crysis drama especially when it comes to esploring new sexual lifestyles. Besides, considering these people experienced the events of ATLA as kids, they are gonna be traumatized af as young adults and trauma makes for dysfunctional relationships and parenting, but growth is always possible in a search for balance in a fluffy angsty fic!
Also, forgive me, as I do not wish to annoy any shippers with my polygaang trashfire as I am a happy stoner aro-ace multishipper and I come in peace and I love Avatar the Last Airbender and the extended universe, but you can't take one look at those kids and not assume they wouldn't be absolute disaster people as adults and young parents.

What is your point of tagging this kataang? If you love Zutara, then ship it. Keep away from our tag. You blather on about toxicity and you make it toxic by posting this useless shit in the Kataang tag. Stay in your lane.
what i don’t entirely get is why most kataangers (at least the ones i directly interact with) treat zutara as a lie zutarians have told ourselves??
i don’t know if i explained myself well (because english is like my third language) but what im trying to say is that usually when kataangers attack zutara they say things like “the only reason you ship zutara is because zuko is older/taller than katara” or “you ship zutara because you think zuko is hot and you project yourself on katara” and i mean maybe that’s someone’s reason?? but the zutara fandom is not based on those reasons actually.
i know that this has been established many times, but i wanted to share my point of view even if no one reads it. So, i get that zutara and kataang are opposite ships, but that doesn’t mean that you have to hate or dismiss the other. Im a zutarian myself, but i try to understand why there’s people that prefer aang over zuko. All ships are respectable (as long as they aren’t incestuos or pedophiliac). Everyone has the right to ship whatever makes them happy. Please, don’t be like the creators.
im really tired of seeing a zutara o kataang fanart, and when im going to comment how beautiful it is all i see is fans from the opposite ship fandom insulting the art and the ship. The ATLA fandom is super toxic in that matter and that has to change.
i think that’s all i have to say for now. Thank you for coming to my ted talk :)

#I'm tagging the two major ships to cause pure chaos becauae why not?
This is exactly why Zutarans are hated in fandom and why I wish all of you would just be Thanos-snapped from the Earth.
First of all, your premise is garbage. If you think Mai OR Aang would just shrug off Zuko and Katara cheating on them and having a kid, you’re the type of anti-Mai and anti-Aang that needs to really just keep your mouth shut.
It’s also laughable because Kya looks just like fucking Aang, you imbecile. It’s also very stupid, but at least your fellow dumbfuck shippers usually choose Bumi to be the Zutara lovechild because his resemblance to Aang physically isn’t as apparent. And the fact that you’re like “Aang promises to love Bumi even if they have an airbender”? Just say you hate Aang and go, you fucking clown.
The fact that Kataang fans are largely just blocking and ignoring you, as they should, speaks volumes. Your post is being passed around on a Kataang discord with the instructions to simply block your attention seeking ass. Admittedly, I should’ve just done that, but I figured I’d be the one to tell you what a fucking dumbass you are. Maybe keep your bullshit Zutara shitfuck adultery fantasies in your diary next time?
