Brendon Urie’s Hawaiian Heritage

I feel like I keep adding new information to this blog every time I’m in between topics. I hope you guys don’t mind!

I saw a video on here that prompted me to talk about Brendon’s ethnicity. There has been a lot of “white, straight, cis” nonsense in regards to him over the last couple of years. He is not straight but I won’t be going over that in this section.

Brendon Boyd Urie was born in St. George, Utah in 1987 to Grace Nani & Boyd Urie. Brendon ended up taking his fathers name as a middle name, but has spoken on stream about how he was supposed to have a Hawaiian one like his siblings. His middle name was to be Ikaika which means Strong or Powerful in Hawaiian. Here is a video of Brendon talking about it.

There was some talk a while back about how Brendon would “hide” his Hawaiian heritage. The videos below discredit that as well as the HAWAIIAN HIBISCUS TATTOO on his damn arm.

Brendon’s Mother Grace Nani is ¼ Hawaiian and Portuguese through her mother. Here is a picture of Grace.

Brendons maternal grandmother, Emmanell Nani is 1/3 Portuguese and 3/8’s Native Hawaiian. She was born in Hawaii. Brendon spoke fondly of his upbringing with her using the name “Grandma Nell” 🥺❤️

Brendons fathers side is mainly Welsh, Scottish and German. There is a write up here if anyone is interested.

Brendon does pass for white, yes. But that is not the purpose of this entry, I am just unloading information as it comes to my head.
